Air New Zealand entered the G-string debate and added 41,000 more seats to the Pacific this summer.

The move comes after a New Plymouth swimming pool considered banning g-string bikinis following a petition from a concerned mum.

Air New Zealand Chief Sales Officer Leanne Geraghty says they saw an opportunity and took it, claiming customers should have freedom of choice when it comes to swimwear.

"We were just having a little bit of cheeky fun - we're not going to try and offend anyone, but we think it's a great way to highlight all the fabulous island destinations we have on the network."

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Heather, do we have twenty past five here the snap,
great grilling of this guy into islander looking like chumpsy
ain't fooling us? And there's more of that in New
Zealand has weighed in on the G string at the
pool debate, telling Keywies to forget the new Plymouth Pool
in its petition and fly to the Pacific Islands instead.
And while here we go, they have just conveniently added
tens of thousands of seats this summer. The angarity is

(00:22):
in New Zealand's chief Customer and sales officer and with us.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Haleian, Hey, how are you?

Speaker 1 (00:28):
I'm well, thank you, But you are making an assumption
that the Pacific Islands are going to be okay with
the old G string, aren't you.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Ah, Look, we're just having a little bit of cheeky
fun and we're not going to try and offend anyone,
but we think it's a great way to highlight all
of the fabulous island destinations we have on the network.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Uh do you think, Oman, do you think that we
have got the money at the moment to be flying
to the Pacific given the situation with the economy, Is
there still some money out there.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Oh, well, our demand would suggest that people are still
finding ways to take that trip and a holiday and
a breakaway. So yeah, look, I think there's some still
definitely a desire for people to travel.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Are you guys, Choker at the moment?

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Oh, I've got some pretty heavy loads at the moment.
We're in the middle of the holiday period, so yeah,
there's plenty of people traveling around.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Are you guys seeing the same thing that House to
Travel is seeing at the moment, which is that you're
getting I think it was House to Travel or flight scenes.
I'm not sure, but either way, one of them is
seeing increased bookings in the school holidays and a decreased
booking during school term.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
There's definitely some changes. I don't actually have those statistics
on me at the moment, Heather, but we do see
change travel patterns, and I think people really are booking
in line with what they can afford and when they've
got the time available to go away.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Leanne, are you going to the Pacific the summer?

Speaker 2 (01:47):
I might make a cheeky trip to the Pacific this summer, Heather,
I might.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Do that packing your g string.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Ah, well, I've had four kids, so I'm not thinking
anyone's wanting to see me in a G string more
of a full piece girl.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Gotta be honest with you mate, I'm with you. Lean
Girizi in New Zealand, chief Customer and sales officer.
