Speaker 1 (00:00):
Heather du for cila so.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Wellington mayor Tory Farno has announced that she's pulling out
of the Wellington mayoral race. She will instead run in
the Maori ward. Seed Ray Chung is a Wellington City
councilor who's also running for me, and he's with us.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Now, Hey, Ray, Hey, Heather, how are you going?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Very well? She's your coming in hot let's take you
by surprise.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Not really. I'm actually having a good chat with Torri
over Anzac weekend at the commemoration and she's we were
talking about Andrew little coming in and what that actually
meant to her and what what what they actually mean
to you and else opposing them. So I think there's
something that's going to happen, but you know, it surprised
me that it happens so quickly.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Yeah, and how are you feeling about it? Because you
do sound peppy. Do you feel like this gives you
a better chance?

Speaker 1 (00:44):
I think I don't think it changes things much because
I reckon that there's actually not much daylight between Tory's
policies and Andrew's policies and so so it's pretty much
keeping the same strategy. I mean, my strategy is completely
different from theirs, and so I don't think it needs
to change it all just because it's Andrew, that Andrew
and Tory team, and and you know, anyone else that

(01:08):
comes up.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
When you say Andrew and Tory team, are you referring
to the fact that she's already put herself out there
as a possible deputy for him.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Yes, yes, I think so. And she's she's going for
the easiest Seaton Council that the mary Ward Council, because
you know what what a Niel get Do you wonder
what's these how many votes did he actually get to
get in what six hundred and seven hundred or something?
Everyone else needed three and a half to five and
a half thousand votes, so that that is the easiest
seat to win.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Do you think that Do you think that she will
be Andrew Little's deputy?

Speaker 1 (01:39):
I think that there's a good chance of it. Yes,
because they're they are points of the because I think
that I think that they actually had came to a
deal where she would actually step back. They're they're natural,
they're natural competitors.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Mm hmm. And do you have proof of this?

Speaker 1 (01:58):
I don't have proof of but last night I went
to the vision for Wellington meeting and people will approach
me and talk to me about this. Now, I said
that I thought this was meant to be embargoed until
five am this morning, but people last night I knew
all about it, and so there was a hypothesis there
were There are two scenarios that came up, and this
is the more credible of them. And so I think

(02:19):
that because they both agree on the same thing, they both,
you know, want the same policies, I think, why wouldn't
they work together? I mean, I think I think that
I probably would if you know, if there was a
candidate who had the same policies that I did in
the same situation.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
She gives herself a nine out of ten, what do
you give.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Her half out of ten?

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Only a half? Ray, thank you, I appreciate your time,
and even that's probably given for ggrudgingly. Ray Young Meryl candidate.
