The Chase UK star Shaun Wallace, aka Dark Destroyer, is touring New Zealand hosting quiz events to raise money for Cure Kids.

The Chaser will also host the 25th New Zealand Quiz Championships in Eden Park on November 8.

Wallace is not a Chaser for soon-to-debut The Chase NZ but he told Andrew Dickens, "I would really like to see a New Zealand chaser, because there's some very, very good quizzers over here".

Speaker 1 (00:00):
If you love the chase, and we love the chase,
it's in a perfect time on the TV, just before
the news. We love the final Chase. If you do
love the Chase, you're in for a treat because one
of the show's biggest stars is on our shores. Sean Wallace,
who is known as the Dark Destroyer, is touring New Zealand.
He swapped his Chase's chair for the quiz Master's mike,
and he's hosting events around the country to help raise

(00:21):
money for cure Kids. So Sean Wallace, the Dark Destroyer,
joins me.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Now, Hello, Sean, good afternoon, Andrew. How are you.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
I'm very good. What's that jersey?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Oh it's a jersey my favorite team. Who are the
World club champions?

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Chelsea? Absolutely if you're wearing a football jersey in the
middle of all black country.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
I am. But you've got a black Oh.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
But you've got an all black jersey. You've got one?
Last time? I have You've got many.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
I've got loads of them. Chelsea are playing last night.
So you.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
And you're here to do quizzers, Yes, but not as
a quiz person, but as the quiz master.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Well taking part in quizes to try and raise money
for a wonderful charity. So over the last six occasions
I've been to New Zealand, I've always basically used my
phone to try and raise and shine a spotlight on,
you know, charities who need to help, need to support.
So this year it's going to be Cure Kids, which
is fantastic.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
It's fantastic. Now on the quizzing, which we all we
know that seventy percent of your life is quizzing. Thirty
percent is am Barrisster. Yeah, still the story. But the
quizzing is how you've got international fame, you know, and
you have the worst win rate out of any chaser
seventy percent compared to end seventy nine percent. And my
question for you on this, yeah, do you throw them

(01:41):
on purpose? No?

Speaker 2 (01:42):
If I don't know the answer, I don't know the answer.
It's just simple as that. I would never ever throw
a game. If I don't know the answer, I don't
know the answer. Conversely, on beat the chasers, I've got
the highest percentage rade of ninety five percent.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
And if the chase is always won, who watch it?
Who would watch it?

Speaker 2 (01:59):
No?

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yeah, okay, well that's good. Do you prefer but do
you like being a quiz master instead of being.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
I like doing both. I can pick and choose by
appear in courts nowadays, but more and more I'm sort
of gravitating towards that, you know, taking part in quizes,
hosting quizzes, using my fame in an altruistic way to
try and raise money for charities. It's good.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Are the questions for the New Zealand two are going
to be as hard as the UK show?

Speaker 2 (02:27):
We'll wait and see, but I'm really looking forward to
hosting the twenty fifth anniversary of the New Zealand Quiz
Championships in Eden Park. So that's going to be fantastic.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
New Zealand's having their own version of the Chasers.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Yeah, that's really really good. So Paul Henry is going
to be the new host. I think it's really good
that they've got some professional Chasers who are experienced in
doing the show in terms of the Superherder now, but
I would really and dearly like to see a New
Zealand Chaser, yeah, because there's some very very good quizzes
over here and it would be really really good to

(03:00):
New Zealand build up their own sort of quizzing heroes.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Absolutely so eight quizzers, Christ You, Jimmercargo wiped it up
at Mountain Long and a week book a coy Tickets
to all the Insuran sale right now from Ticketmaster. Thank
you for your good work for the kids and for
coming over here and having some fun.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Well I'm having some fun. But as I said to
you Andrew, for me, sometimes, what's the point in being
famous if you can't use your fame in an artistic
way to chry and help others.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
And all backs versus Island. Who's going to win?

Speaker 2 (03:28):
I hope you All Blacks win, but I do remember
three years ago when in the same venue that Ireland
basically beat you All Blacks and they became the number
one ranked team in the world, and everybody was thinking
that Island we're going to then going to win the
World Cup.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
It's a bit like Seaun Wallace being the chaser, you know,
if we win all the time who had watched.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Exactly, So it's going to be an interesting game, very
good stuff.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
So I'd lovely to have you in here, But of
course you've got that wrong because they last won nine
years ago in twenty sixteen, not three.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
