Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Friday Sports huddled with New Zealand subbodies, International Realty,
Unique homes, uniquely for you.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
The am Premiersure competition is still going to have Sula
furns in it, and they're still going to have the
up and coming sort of firms and the future silver
firms in there, so it's still going to be a
really exciting competition. Obviously, we use the three Test against
the French to play a whole squad and now they
all were focusing all of your church, a very very
good agent tenant team. They've put a strong squad sort
of experience in their team two.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
This will be judged in twenty years. This is not
something that's just going to be here today, ain't going
to morrow. This is a change and the ultimate test
will be what does the America's couple look like in
twenty years time.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Right with me on the sports title, we have Darcy
water Grave and we have Andrew Gordy.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
Hello, Alo, thank you and get a good tell a
bro not bad mate?

Speaker 5 (00:52):
How are you?

Speaker 4 (00:53):
It's tall and handsome? No change here.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Now, I know Darcy. You don't play the golf at
the Takapuna.

Speaker 5 (00:59):
Do you?

Speaker 4 (00:59):
No, I haven't played golf since my knee fell apart.
But I'm not looking to get a new knee. Next
time I'll be back. I used to play at Chamberlain
out Titangi and way out West and some of the
mad bushes out there. Never Strode Tucker Puna Unford.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
What about you, Gord? Do you strike me as a
as a north shore boy who might play that.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
I am anything but a north shore boy. I'm a
I'm a christ Church born and breed lad and you know,
transferred up here and never been a shore boy. You know,
I broke my back, but I didn't play. I didn't
play golf.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
What school did you go to?

Speaker 5 (01:30):
I don't don't start.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
But now we're listening.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
But I can because I'm part of the christ Church
mafia as well, all of us up here from today
christol I went to Martyhoe High School, which is very
unfestival and then I ran to Burnside for a couple
of years. Then I scaped into TV.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Okay, and what about you, Gordy, I'm.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
A baby and ranger.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
All about this. I get on with Elliott Smith guy.
I have veiled in the light because I tell you
what SA and I where went to the scummy schools
in christ here all right.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
Yeah, no, no, have Elton Elliott and even Olie Ritchie.
They all went to the wrong ones. They all went
to the wrong ones and they admit as much. I'm
sure if they were on here, but anyway, they don't
the opportunity there.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
This is not sport.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Okay, Gordy, what do you make of the netballers all leaving?
We've got a list of I think it's eight are
who are probably probably very close to either already having
confirmed or confirming soon.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
I sense there's some panic out there. I'm not that panic.
I think this is just a reality of modern sport
and the best players will play in the best competition
and unfortunately at the moment that's that's not the competition
here in New Zealand. The best players want to go
over and play on Australia and I totally understand that.
And you know, I think everyone can look at this
with doom and gloom, but I look at it and go, well,

(02:47):
if our best players are going to be playing week
in week out and the best competition, that means that
I think they should be allowed to continue playing for
the Silver Ferns and that will be a benefit to
the silver fan. When it comes to the international states.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
What's more important? Few do you think Andrew having accessible
silver ferns there for people to see on court, like
the younger ones coming through or having success and internationally well,
I regularly begging the Australians they want to straddle both.
Is that possible?

Speaker 5 (03:16):
I see, I don't think in this in this day
and age, dar So, I think that's kind of what
we're talking about here is the reality is that that's
not possible. And I think if you asked most most
netball fans, their priority would be the silver ferns. And
I think that what we're seeing play out here will
achieve that.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
And there's always room for the shoots coming through when
the more mature plays up and disappear. And look, Netbal
New Zealand haven't said no yet. I'm just waiting for
the time when they go I'll have to say no.
Somebody will no they eventually, but all the yeses have
gone through and it's been well, it's like an ice
Berg's forum and that the wave has been enormous.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
It really has. Listen, are we going to win against
the Dragons tonight?

Speaker 4 (03:55):
Don't say we you've got nothing to do with the.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
I am it's wee before the game.

Speaker 5 (04:03):
If they lose them, just remember that dar she is.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
No okay by round fifteen, last last by when when
last last lot they they messed this one up. That'll
be I think their fifth loss in six home games.
Do you know? Nobody knows because this team promised so
much and then injury beat them up and also they

(04:29):
let some games just go straight through. I think that, Gordy,
the embarrassment around what happened last week against the Dogs
is going to be enough to light a fire underneath them.
If if Andreel Webster isn't a really.

Speaker 5 (04:40):
Right, well, I certainly hope so. And to be honest us,
my heart is still broken from that loss to the Dolphins.
That was that was tough to watch, tough to take.
I think most Worries fans are probably still even recovering
from that. So I hate using the term must win,
but I'm a huge believer in that momentum, positive or

(05:00):
negative is everything in sport, and one more defeat feels
like we might be on a slot prey slope that
might be hard hard to get any sort of traction from.
So it does feel like a really really important game
for the Warriors. I'm thrilled that tan of boys back,
to be honest, and thrilled that Wade Egan is back.
I'm feeling I won't say I'm overly confident, but if

(05:24):
I was a betting man and some people might say
I am, I'm gonna be with the Warriors.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
You know, there's still a mathematical chance that they won't
hit the eight.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
Yeah, not a.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Mathematic All right, not go there, All right, let's take
a break, We'll come back and just jeez, that was
a cackle, wasn't it. Gold take a break, come back
with the Sports Hurdle, shortly.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
The Friday Sports Title with New Zealand Southby's International reality
The Ones fun Massed results.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Back with the Sports Titdle Darcy Waldgrave and Andrew Gordy. Gordy,
what do you make of the token woman the boats?

Speaker 5 (06:01):
Uh? Yeah, great question. To be honest, I kind of
get it. And I think this is probably a smart
move from in terms of optics and in terms of
marketing the America's Cup and making sure you're appealing to,
you know, as wide a possible audience as possible. But
it feels like a bit of a copy of sale.

(06:22):
GP doesn't that. But I'm actually more interested in the
influencer rule. And I can't help but one of the
guys like, who are going to be the influencers that
fill the boat for Emirates Tea New Zealand. It feels
like this may as will be called the Mike Hosking rule, Like,
surely Hokers has got this lined up.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
It's not more influencer. What then need to do? Mister Beast?
He's got half a billion fans on YouTube and he's
just launched a burger bar over here. Get Beast on
the boat, mate, You've got so many people straight away, though,
all you need to hit high. You want to go.
You want to go to the superstar. You get right
up there and go that way, not not this this
New Zealanders because I'd just be jealous of him. It

(07:02):
might go on because I want to.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
This is a good point that he makes, though, Gordio,
I mean, you want to go, you want You don't
want to be tapping an audience that is already tapped,
right and Hoskins audience is already into the boats you
want to go to, like for example, the Kardashians where
they go diamonds, bling, makeup boats.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
You want to go to what attracks the youth, the generation,
this generation coming through. Don't go I peeled up tasting
thieves like me. You don't want to do that. You
want something and that drags the young eyes in and
on the women side of things, it's about time they
woke up to this. A bit late to the party,
but that's all right. They got there. Sale GP did
them a favor, right.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Okay, Now do we Darcy, do we take out the
games against Argentina, because remember Argentina have beaten just recently
the British and Irish Lions, so they're not rubbish.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
That was the start of the British Irish lines to it,
and that was a bit sloppy from them. I don't
think they've been particularly good up after that. I would
be stunned if we were to be rolled. I remember
back in the day you'll two Andrew Gordy as well
when you go Porter Neil kicked us to death in
the game and it ended up with drawing Ben Blair.
I was talking last night Ben Blair out of Canterbury.

(08:07):
Remember that he pulled off a try and we hold on.
Did he was. It was it Robertson who passed to
him to score all the other way round to right.
He know, wouldn't he. This is really on.

Speaker 5 (08:21):
Instagram a couple of days.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
You see social media. It's absolutely huge. What I like
about this Angel I talk about this later on today.
Finley Christie's going to join us on the show in
sports talking. Is this we finally seen racist fingerprints on
the side because last year there were no fingerprints at all.
It was Foster's team and he tweaked it away bit
and went, I don't know, now, this is his team.

(08:45):
This is what's going to the World Cup. And he goes, right,
you're a winger. I'm going to put you in its center.
This is what my loose Ford trio looks like. Deal
with it. You're the men. And I think that confidence
given to these guys to actually go out there and
it horrible to express. I think that's really really important.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Andrew, So what do you think, Goodie?

Speaker 5 (09:04):
I think we will be Argentina. I'm a little uncomfortable
about it, though. I don't expect. I expected the All
Blacks to beat France in the home series and I
know we got I got a little bit close there,
but I expected this week we got there. I'm less
confident about Argentina. I think they might be a little
better than you know, perhaps some people might be giving

(09:25):
them credit for. But look, I like the team that
the selectors have named apart from and I know that
this has partially been forced upon them, but if Artie
Savier is going to be wearing the number seven jersey
going forward, I want to see him wearing that jersey
as much as possible. Firm believe that and that you
should build your team around your best players. And if

(09:47):
number eight is not where Artie's going to be playing,
and this is not a splant at all on Doe
Carifi outstanding player, I'm sure he'll do the jersey justice
over there this weekend. But I want the team built
around the best players, and they should be in their
best positions. That's where Ardie should be.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Hey, guys, thank you so much. Appreciate it and enjoy
your your Classipino Noir with the Warriors this evening, both
of you. That's Darcy Wargrave Andrew Gordia Sports title this evening.
