Richard Arnold: US Correspondent gives an update on the ICE shooting in Texas

There’s a belief a shooter in Dallas, Texas, was motivated by violent ideology and divisive rhetoric.  

One detainee is dead and two more are critically injured after a rooftop sniper fired indiscriminately at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Facility, also known as ICE yesterday.  

The gunman later died from a self-inflicted gunshot.  

Dallas ICE Director Joshua Johnson says it's being investigated as an act of targeted violence.   

US Correspondent Richard Arnold told Mike Hosking the shooter reportedly left behind notes including a game plan of the attack and target areas at the facility. 

One note reportedly says he wanted to give ICE agents a sense of “terror”, the shooter describing ICE employees as "people showing up to collect a dirty pay check".

think he acted alone.

Yeah. The FBI is holding a briefing right now and
is releasing more information about the sniper who opened fire
on this ICE Integration and Customs Enforcement field office in
Dallas that she'd have now identified as twenty nine year
old Joshua John who took his own life after the
attack and left behind a note, including one saying he
wanted to bring quote unquote terror to ICE agents. As

One of these notes or papers, the sniper explicitly states, yes,
it was just me. That statement appears to be correct
at this point in the investigation. Notably, these loose notes
included a game plan of the attack and target areas
at the facility. He called the ICE employees people showing

up to collect a dirty paycheck.

Well written note also said he had his actions with
U of ICE agents quote real terror to think is
there a sniper with ap armor piercing rounds on that roof?
FBI boss Cash Burttel says their investigation shows as well
that the shooter made multiple online searches on ballistics and
the Charlie Kirk assassination videos, so on it goes right.
They also released images of bullets they found, including one

that was marked with the words anti ICE. The shooter
open fire as detainees were being taken from a van
at the ICE office in Dallas. Those hit all were detainees,
not ICE agents. One person was killed, two others injured.
One of those wounded Mexican in critical condition. Homeland Security
says that even as no officers were hit, this was

an attack on ICE enforcement. The brother of the killer
says he didn't think he was really political. Well, that
comment doesn't seem worth much in the face of the
evidence that the merging is it. Trump is blaming Democrats
for all that is going on.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
The radical left has caused this problem, not the right,
the radical left, and it's going to get worse, and
ultimately it's going to go back on them. I mean,
bad things happen when they play these games.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Well, Trump is calling for a crackdown on the radical left. However,
the right wing Cato Institute did a recent study on
political violence in this land. There stats show that eighty
one people have died as a result of political violence
in the last five years. Left wing terrorists were found
responsible for twenty two percent of cases, Islamus for twenty
one percent, right wing terrorists for fifty four percent, finger

pointing aside. It does, though, seem to be getting worse.

Indeed, is Comi's day to day could.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Be There is certainly speculation that the former FBI boss,
James Comey, could face criminal charges today in what would
be the first case against one of Trump's main critics.
Trump has been demanding the federal prosecutors go after him.
Trump fired the attorney overseeing becoming investigation and put in
place one of his own personal lawyers, Lindsay Halligan, who
was someone who hasn't done this going to work before
specialized in insurance issues. Others in the federal office have

said that there was not enough evidence to charge Comy
with any crimes, including claims that he lied during congressional
testimony that is disputed. Trump's Attorney General Pambondi also has
been looking at concerns that the case simply isn't strong enough.
So we'll see what happened. Some Dems also are not
fans of Combing, believing that right before the twenty sixteen elections,
he led the bureau's investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of

a private email server while she was Secretary of State
that led nowhere, but some Democrats said derailed the Clinton
campaign at the time. As for Trump, he sought to
distance himself from the Comy case during his oval office.

involved in her once, but I don't really choose to
do so. I can only say that Comby's a bad person.

for political retaliation.

Good Richard and sideback. Monday, in the ever increasingly interesting
New York mayoral race, the Republican guy called Sliwer who Curtis.
He's claiming now that he received more than half a
dozen phone calls on behalf of wealthy people urging him
to get out. Why because they all want to round
up behind Como or Quomo against Mendami. So you've got

Eric Adams, who is the incumbent. He says he's staying
in and going nowhere. Quomo's running as an independent, having
lost the democratic nomination. A couple of what was a
few weeks back, maybe a month or so back, and
this Mindami guy is leading, so he's sliwer is calling
the authors unethical and legal, which of course is true.
But it's interesting. It's very New York, isn't it. I meantime,

the people the Next Star, people who own a bunch
of the stations that Van Kimmel, Next Star and Sinkly,
they are between them seventy affiliate stations. They're still quote
unquote engaged in productive discussions with executives at Walt Disney.
Bob Iger, who's a legend, is under tremendous pressure to
stand firm. There's an open letter from some heavyweight Disney

people to say don't buckle to the play on. So
we'll watch where this goes over the weekend as well.
