Speaker 1 (00:00):
Kate Hawksby's with us, good morning to you, good morning,
and Tim Wilson's with us, good morning to you.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Good morning, and congratulations, well done.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Thank you very much, you Spa.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Congrats. I've put up on my Instagram photos of you
and your outfit and us at the awards and your award.
But I'm just pretty sad I didn't get a shot
of Sam and his Vietnamese suit.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Well, the thing about Sam in his Vietnamese suit is
he started it last year. He's wearing it again today
and that started last year because I can't remember why
it started last year. But anyway, because I wasn't there
and I couldn't exactly yeah, I couldn't see it, and
so he brought it in.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
The suit cost for five dollars or something.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Well, this was the story you missed last night because
you went there to what I hadn't realized last year
with a green suit was though the one hundred and
ninety nine he had paid for it, he actually got
two suits for one hundred and ninety nine. So the
second suit he debuted last night, which was an unusual silver,
and so thinks maybe it was the lighting, but it
(01:04):
was an unusual silver with a sheen. I don't know whether.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
It was what Mike. Mike made Mike during his acceptance speech,
raised that told that story and then made Sam stand up,
which he did to rousing applause. Memory he did that
the last time.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
So poor Sam. That's good that it's good that he's
it's good that he's he's actually, you know, sharing the
limelight with the man who keeps and caffeinated the subject
of his bullying. And I hope you Scott stood up
as well. Kate as the as the man, as the woman,
pardon me, who grounds him, grounds the.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Man exactly what I can't say. Just quickly before I go,
she said, yeah, she said, unfortunately, Tim, she said, just
remember being humble. I think it went well, CATD.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
And you said, you said, what's that word? Again? I'm
sorry I forgot the first thing. Literally, the first thing
he said was I guess I won this because I'm good. Exactly.
I saw that. I was like, oh my goodness. Again.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
The important point to make is Sam actually won. Sam
and the team won as the best whatever they called
the production team of the year year, So they actually won.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
The award, Glynn and Sam, because they they're the real
story behind you aren't they?
Speaker 2 (02:24):
And do you know what I did? Katie? Then?
Speaker 1 (02:25):
And I felt sick for the rest of the night.
I didn't thank you, and so I thought, oh jeez,
that's you know, I thought I should have done that.
So it's like one of those you should have reclaimed
the mic. Just grab a full glass and I just
want it as something.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Come on.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
A couple of names that people will know on this
radio station that sort of fly below the radar. Malcolm
Jordan got a I don't know what they call it,
something like a Services to the Industry Award. And so
Malcolm's on the station a lot, and if you listen
on the wed and stuff, and he's been around forever
and so he was thoroughly deserving of that because he's
one of my favorite broadcasters. He's one of those he's
(03:06):
one of those people who can do everything and so
that's that's a skill of course. And so he got
his services Never got his Services to the Industry Award two.
So so everyone every year goes because never always wins
is amazing. Never is amazing.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
She won Best Newsreader for like the eleventh year.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
But the problem with doing that is everyone goes, oh,
our Neva's won again as though it doesn't count for anything,
which it does. You don't win by de fasel.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Now this sounds this sounds like someone who may also
have one sort of eleven such accolades, who perhaps because
he doesn't have enough humility, doesn't get enough attention.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
I agree like Marcus. So Marcus won. You're right, he
won for about the ninth or tenth year in a row,
and so he doesn't get the the the the accolades
he deserves. And the other one was Jamie McKay. And
Jamie McKay does the con country. Yeah, and so Jamie
McKay got a lifetime award, which is you know, which
is which is a real honor. And so his story
(04:04):
is fantastic. And he bought a radio station and he
sort of said, I need to bring some radio to
the people and talk about the country to the city
and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
And so he got on it for that.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
And those are the sort of people you want to
celebrate because they're the real heroes of the industry. As
far as I can work.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Out, I think everybody that attended needed an award for
sitting through the ceremony, which felt like the world's longest
ever event.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
On that note, it was well, too long? Is the
answer way too long? The good news is Jason has
turned up. Jason the Big Boss has turned up this morning.
So that's good. He was so he was claiming, listen
to this. This is so lame. He was claiming, as
was late, why is he taking an uber? Join the dots?
(04:46):
Why is he taking the next morning?
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Question?
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Ask yourself the question, Tim, Why is he taking an
uber in the next morning?
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Maybe there's a bit of overflow from the night before.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
I'm not saying anything far from me, Mike, I couldn't.
Sam the stick of news talks said, but it's not
a bad way of putting a Sam's the trendset and
not the follower. I see Hosk was wearing a tie.
I was wearing a tie. Story behind the tie. I
had to drive down to the center of Auckland to
get a tie as in the center center of Auckland,
and was reminded yet again what a complete and utter cluster.
You know what downtown Auckland is and how they've completely
(05:18):
and utterly ruined the place. Brode Cones, congratulations on your reward.
More importantly, Katie looked spectacular could you please pass that
on to her?
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Oh thing?
Speaker 1 (05:32):
And they're correct. You you did look absolutely fantastic, just
glorious about me. Well, we made it about you, just
for a little bit, and so there's nothing. There's nothing.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
That's because that's because you didn't make it about her
last night as you should have.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Trying to rectify some stuff as we speak. I'm having
a coffee this morning. By the way, it's very important
that people understand this. I'm having a coffee this morning
from the coffee fund. And the coffee fund got boosted
this week because I had a bet with Sam, who
knows nothing about sport or clothing, but he lost, and
so the fifty dollars he lost went into the coffee fund.
(06:08):
So I'm having the coffee from the coffee fund make
him pay that.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
That's not fair.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
No, that's not fair.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
The bream did say off here that you liked to suit.
You said this morning, it's not bad. Yeah, that's high praise.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Indeed, what do straight happen to and lie? I said nothing.
I said nothing. I think the exact words were, it's
not as fair. It's well, it was under fluorescence at
like three this morning. It was under fluorescence and it
didn't look as bad as I thought. So that's that's
(06:42):
that's the best I could come up with.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
So there you go.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Now what else do you want to talk about?
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Well, I'm finding the divorce, the very public divorce between
Trump and Musk, really awkward. I'm not enjoying it. I
never think public divorces are a good.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
He didn't see.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Well, no, I didn't.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Really does it change your mind?
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Mechanics, two volcanic figures, huge egos. Also with with he's
very he's very very thin skin, so readily wounded. It
was always going to happen.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Correct. Does it bother Ukti that he's in the Epstein files?
Speaker 3 (07:18):
Well, I mean I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't
on the island. I mean, wasn't everybody who was somebody
of that time of celebrity status on that island at
those parties. I don't think it necessarily means he was
involved in sex trafficking or whatever, But I mean, who
would know.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
I would have a clue, But why haven't Then the
paper has been released?
Speaker 3 (07:39):
Who would know?
Speaker 1 (07:39):
He said he'd release the papers, had release all the papers?
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Maybe that maybe they will be released?
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Now you reckon, I don't know, get get back.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
When are you guys? Are I suppose you have pre
ordered to send his book.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
So disappointed not to have been seeing a signed copy
you would have been?
Speaker 1 (08:00):
We're still we haven't. We haven't heard back from the
interview request. We asked for an interview, and well, good
for you for asking, Good for you for asking. Definitely
didn't as Tim wake up, of course not she's.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
I thought, you know, what I thought was really the
best review I've read has been by Liam Here, which
is like, actually it goes into the fact that her
more he believes her Mormon. Liam Here, he's aimator. He's
been around, so I'll send you the links he's last time.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
That's another joke to him. Last time I said who's he?
He took to social media and got really upset at
me that I'd never heard of him.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Yeah, he's a New Zealand political commentator.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
Anyway, Cary, No, the point, the interesting content, or the
point that he makes, is that he suggests her Mormon
background had affected her leadership style in the sense that
and I don't know because I'm not Mormon, but they
have a preference for non confrontation, and that actually plays out,
So it refers to a lot in the book, and
it might explain why she didn't want to keep talking
(09:06):
to you during that.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Yeh, I couldn't handle that.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
No, that makes sense. But one also what I've discovered
in life and continually fascinated about, and we saw a
little bit of it. I think you'll concur last night, Katie,
is people's inability to be self aware. And part of
it is if you're like that, you go to yourself.
I'm about to potentially lead an entire country, and I'm
(09:31):
a bit anxious as a person, and I don't really
like confrontation and I prefer to cuddle people. I'm wondering
if these qualities are going to lead in a direction
that will serve me well ultimately. And then at that point,
of course, because you're self aware, you go absolutely, I'm
not remotely suited for this job. Is why I, for example,
have never ended up in management because I don't handle
(09:52):
people well. I've got no patience, I've got no time
for people, and broadly speaking, I'm a pain in the ass.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
So I've worked out both Salm and Gleen need to
pay rise.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Yeah, and so with that, with that self awareness, that's
why you will dutifully accept accept your lot and appear
at the next radio awards. Is that right? Is that
what I'm hearing?
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Going again?
Speaker 2 (10:16):
I think it's a never where's the self awareness? Where's
the self awareness?
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Self? Don't even get me started. Do you mind having
six million people?
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Just quickly you too?
Speaker 1 (10:24):
By the way, this population increases six million a good
number for you, seven.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Million, twelve after firsteen twelve to fifteen million. I don't like.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
I don't like the fact they're all in Auckland. I
feel like the whole six million are in are in
the CBD, in the suburbs, and you can't you literally
cannot move in Auckland anymore.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
So I feel like they're Also, if.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
You could evenly distribute six to twelve million people around
the country.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
The problem, you'd be happy, absolutely, Okay. So yeah, that's
this whole this whole view is better as rubbish. Humanity
is not a scourge. More people are better. I have
more people.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
But it's a quality issue also, there isn't I mean,
quantity versus quality. I'd go for I'd go for seven
quality over twelve. Bogans just thought.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Yeah, it depends as long as the bogans are driving.
Hems brand new, it's locates.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
It's a Hemi, not a hemi, but God bless you
for raising engine talk.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
