Speaker 1 (00:00):

HM And what's up y'all? Welcome back to another episode
of the four All Nerds Showcats. Your boy, DJ Ben
I Mean aka Hemmy Kimmel aka Brits Blair, Mark Heloud,
(00:32):
Jordan cal El, BUNDI, stay woke, Kang Stop Pilgrim Big Fitch.
Here in the spaceship tonight, and as always, I'm.
Speaker 1 (00:41):

sure you hit that liken subscribe on YouTube on every platform.
Leave a five star review, because we about to leave
a I don't know if it'll be five star, but
(01:18):
we're gonna leave a positive review for the new movie,
a no spoiler for a new movie Him Him.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
My God Today.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Off top, we can say this, I definitely enjoyed this
far more than I did one bat after another. If
you peeped our review of At, which you should right now.
In fact, we dropped the unedited version of that review
on YouTube as well, so you can go peep that
right now as well. I enjoyed him far more. This
(01:55):
is definitely one of my favorite movies of the year.
Not a movie that I don't know how many watch again, right,
but I was wildly entertained for the one time that
I have seen it.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
Let me give you my quick blurb, but what I thought.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Him it was.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Listen him was creepy as hell, It was unnerving.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
It was off the wall, it was freaked out, it
was obsessive, and it was the most one of the
most entertaining pieces of.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
Cinema in a while.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
I mean, I think maybe, like you said, maybe one
of my favorite movies for various off the world reasons,
but probably one of my favorites because of how crazy
it is, Like it's on some fucked up love Craft
(02:56):
wild ship. It was a think of all the should happened.
I love Crests Country on HBO, remember that, and just.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
Add some nonsense to it, just just.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
But it's entertaining, and it's funny and it's brutal.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
And it's just like.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
What am I?
Speaker 4 (03:17):
What's happening? But I'm enjoying.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Nonsense, right fully enjoying it. Julia Fox, who I did
not know is in this movie, is in this movie,
and this film feels like Julia Fox. You know, she's
playing herself. No, I don't mean her, I just itself. No,
you know, like you know, is it stravagant, outrageous, as
(03:41):
ridiculous as Julia Fox's life and public life has been.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Yes, it reflects her very well, no doubt, no doubt.
It is absolutely, as you mentioned, outrageous and over the top.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
It's o d It's one.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
And what I will say is this, y'all are gonna
stop sleeping on Marlon Wayne's after you if you had
any doubts about his acting abilities, if you had no
idea what this.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Man can do.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
This man gotta be be put up for for something, something.
You gotta come home with something ath of this, because
not only.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
The level of dedication, but the level of.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
I'm sure he's in therapy because of this, Like he's
got to be, because the way that he not only
embraced his character, but like created his own monster to
Really it's very simple, very play this this this this
football legend, if you will, fictional but still football legend.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
I ain't never seen no ship like that. And when
I say he is.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
The most funniest terrifying character I've ever watched in a
very long time, like Marlon did that, he's.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Like ostra Isaac and eg Maker, where he is hilarious,
is and fucking terrifying at the same time. That's the
last time I could say it after you got me
like this was ostra Isaac and X Macta. Like he
he doesn't dance, but he does something else that I
won't spoil that is as iconic as that dance scene
(05:19):
in That's Macna when astra isa starts dancing, where it's
terrifying and also hilarious like that, I mean, that is
him straight through it. And for those who don't know
Marlon Wayns was, I mean he's always been great, you know,
obviously the comedy and all that. But in two thousand,
he was in the year two thousand, a year two
thousand he was starting the film recording for a Dream,
(05:42):
which is directed by Darren Aronsky, and recording for a
Dream is a very darky film.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
I remember that film, yes.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
And Marlon killed it. He did, yeah, and so he's
I mean that's, you know, twenty five years ago, like
this man been putting in that work.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
A lot of people don't see that, like they see
that they here, remember you remember WANs and you think comedy.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
But that's the thing. Most great comedians are usually very
good dramatic actors because it's one of those things. They're
usually hiding a lot of pain and all that stuff,
because comedy is built off pain and trauma, usually especially
black comedy. So for that matter, and by black comedy,
I mean black people comedy, I don't mean like a
(06:26):
black movie, you know, a black comedy movie, which this
is definitely a dark comedy movie, very dark comedy, but
it's also many genres, you know, it's a few different genres.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
I mean it's produced by the Monkey Paul Productions, which
which is all Jordan Peel's name on and all everyone
sees Jordan like, oh, this is Jordan movie.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
It's not.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
No.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
It was directed by Justin Tipping Tipping Ye and the
writers were Zach Ackers, Skip Bronki and Justin Tipping, all
three of which are out of their fucking minds because.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
The choices like it's.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
There were so many times where Ben, I mean and
I were just sitting there watching like, yo, this is
this can't get any crazier. And then it went to
a level and then we looked at each other like
what's happening? And again, this is not in a disparaging way.
We don't you know, this is not derogatory. This is
we were legitimately like, what the fuck.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Is happening right now?
Speaker 4 (07:23):
And why is this happening right now?
Speaker 1 (07:25):
And you couldn't turn away from the screen because you
were just so invested in can you please explain to
me what's happening right now? Can we get some answers?
And you never got a fucking answer. There were so
many points they were like, well, why did this happen?
And you never got an answer. No, you wand explain
(07:48):
so many things in this movie.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
I was even thinking of something like the shooting range
that happens and then it's like, okay, I guess.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
There's so much And for the those who want to know, Okay,
what is the tone of the movie, the tone is ultraviolent.
If you've seen the trailers, you've already seen it. It's
ultra violet? Is it as bad as as I mentioned
maybe previously the Long Walk? Just in terms of no, no,
there are some things.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
That make you cringe, like ooh, why they got to
do that?
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Why they have to do it?
Speaker 1 (08:20):
But it's still enough, they still pull back enough from
making you see every single inch of you know, horrible
thing happened to the person. And they also stylized it
a lot. Right, Remember this is a football movie, so
and I don't want to give things away, but just
think along the lines of what you normally see in football,
like when they show the replays, when they show this,
when they show that, Like what goes into being a
(08:41):
football player? Right?
Speaker 4 (08:42):
What physicality?
Speaker 1 (08:43):
What physical things go into you know, being on the
field and the things.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
That happen to players, Right, what do they have to
go through?
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Right?
Speaker 4 (08:50):
It's both from a physical and psychological perspective.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
They intertwine that within the film and they deliver it's
a horror. It's a it's that new style genre horror,
but it's like it's a horror film, like and it's
mind boggling how much lunacy, sheer lunacy that they packed
into this film, and there were people around that was like, nah,
(09:17):
y'all can't be for real, Like there's people who were
saying comments like that at every single scene, like there's
and that's the thing. There's not one scene. There may
be a couple of scenes where it's quiet, quiet ish,
like someone talking on the phone or something like that,
but right around the corner it's some like they don't
give you a chance, like in the times where it
(09:37):
be kind of quiet and nothing, you think that's going on,
something creepy is happening in the background. But when I
got to tell y'all this, open y'all fucking eyes when
y'all watch this film, because their shit come out of
every corner of the screen.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
Like they made use of the frame.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Let me say that, yeah, do that they made good
use of the From a cinematography perspective, they.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
Made good use of this.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
On that note for bringing up a cinematography, it was
actually done by Kira Kelly who's worked on Queen Sugar.
So I want to give a big shout out to
them because this is they did their thing on house
Like Kira, Yeah, Kira, you did your thing on this.
Let me say that it is a beautiful cinematography, so
(10:19):
many and just you know, a composition of the shots.
They're just gorgeous. There are so many still frames that
could be taken from this movie. It's absolutely gorgeous.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
And when I say so much stuff that, I don't
mean there's like a million things happen on the screen.
I just mean like there's so much in terms of detailing. Yeah,
and as you mentioned, blocking, where people, where people are
in the shot, and what's happening in the background, what's
happening in the foreground. Like, there's so much to take
and there's so much information presented to you.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
Whether or not it makes sense, it.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
Doesn't even fucking matter, but it's there and it makes
you intrigue, like like you're at least me, I was
constantly on edge throughout the film because it's quite literally
like what's about to happen next? And not necessarily in
a I'm fearful, but just the I don't know what
to expect. Yeah, And in this Ben and I, you know,
we're critics, so we've been seeing films for a long time,
(11:12):
and you know, we could probably typically guess was about
to happen within the first fifteen minutes and while we
technically guessed the people I knew knew, we still didn't
know how we was going to arrive there.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
No, No, not at all. Definitely that And the premise
cens on Wikipedia is Cameron Cade was destined for football
glory into an attacked by obsessed fan for in the
end of his career before it began. Just from Hope
Fades is idle legendary quarterback. I say a White invites
him the train in private compound. From what starts is
the opportunity of lifetime, soon twisting something far more dangerous,
(11:46):
as Cam discovered the true cost of chasing greatness.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
It's the funniest darkest thing I've ever seen. I will
absolutely say that, like.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
It's yeah, it's I can't say ever, but it's it's
up there.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
It's the funniest darkest scene thing I've ever fucking seen.
Like there's some ship that's dark that I just do
not find funny because it's too dark for me.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
No, this is both. This is equally both.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
I actually mentioned this the other day talking on one
bat off another Doctor Strange Love, which is one of
the fun It is probably the funniest dark at film
I've ever seen that that ship is hilarious and they're
making you know, h I t alert Ellie Yard jokes
and that ship and it's hilarious. Oh my god, it's
(12:28):
one of the funniest jokes. Wait, let me say this, okay.
Cameron Cade is played by Tyreek Withers and who Didstic
Fantastic Drop. And some of you might know Tyreek from
his big breakout role. Actually I found out was on
an episode of Atlanta in the final season. I do
(12:50):
believe it was one of the final two. I think
it was the last one. And it's called rich Wiga
Poor Wiga. And it's an episode that feature the late
what's his name, Kevin Samuel House's name right, m Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
The one I was telling women that you.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Know that guy? Yeah, But it featured him as he
was bard of as judgment because basically, Tyree's character had
to prove that he was black because he was half white,
and he was trying to get a scholarship that was
only for black people and it doesn't work out. It's
a brilliant episode. If y'all haven't seen it, please don't
watch it. And Tyreek killed it and I loved him minute,
(13:26):
but I didn't you know, I was. I really lost
the matter. I didn't see him say anything since so
when I walk and I'm like, wait, I know this dude,
and then I look like, oh, he's that dude from Atlanta. Okay,
so he is on the way to start him to
superstar him.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
And apparently he was on the game. Didn't know that
he was. He was on like at least seven episodes.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
So oh okay. And he was also in I Know
What You Did last summer earlier this summer.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
Ah, okay, okay.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
The reboot yep which I was pretty good. So he's
on the way.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
I know you've seen him in Marlins doing the press run,
you know, being popping up everywhere. And no, he he
does a phenomenal job. Marlon stole the show, but does
a phenomenal job. You mentioned Julia Fox, like I said earlier,
I say again, she played herself. Yeah, because this is
a reflection of, as you mentioned, her life and her
personality that the.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Whole movie is like just it felt like Julia Fox
on this PREMI everybody.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Is on one in this film, everybody, and that's and
that's I think that's also probably what drove this home
for me, just the fact, like it wasn't like, you know,
you was getting a little bit out of everyone else
in a.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Lot out of one person. No, everybody was on ten.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
And again it was just unpredictable in many ways because.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
I love Julia in what's that Jules movie? Was that ship?
Speaker 3 (14:46):
Oh yeah, the heist movie?
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (14:48):
Yeah, she was great, and that where she like changed
and became she.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Was already she was already on the way when Yeah,
but but it was it was change it go fool Julia. Yeah, yeah,
so I knew she could add but this one. I
loved her in it. Oh my god, she was good.
But yeah, Marlin, let me say, like, yo, No, definitely,
(15:12):
And it's one of those things where it's gonna be
either it donna either be you know, Oscar and Golden
Globe nominated or Razzie's nominated. It could go either way.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
He put so much and that's and it's so weird
because and the only reason why that could be the case, man,
is because it's so such an out there film, so.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
Good.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Like I said, I don't want people get the wrong
in it, like.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
It's it's a good.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
So it's just wild a ship.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
There are certain scenes of Marlon that I have to
see again. Like I said earlier, I'm not sure if
I want to see this whole.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
Movie just for that one scene.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Yeah, No, I want to see this. And like I
was about to say this earlier, if there were still
dollar theaters, you know what I mean, where you can
like smoke and drink in the back of them, this
is what I would want to say. See that, you know,
in a theater full of black people, you know, just
having the time of their life, yelling and talking to
the screen. That's where I want to see this in
speaking to.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Black people, at least at least Cameron Kid, the main
character Tyreek with theirs character.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
He know he's black, and he behaves as a black
person should be behaving.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Listen, let me get let me get here. He is
behaving as you should in say any things that I
would expect one in this country should be saying and behaving.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
There are some questions though and there, but again some points.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
He is a black man, a young black man, and you.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Know he's young, so like like hold on.
Speaker 4 (16:47):
You know, but there are some questions where it's just
like why would you do.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
That, sir? But I might have made this stress right before.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
We get to cause, like I said, like I have notes,
but before we get there, I just want to continue
on with the praise music.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
Fire the soundtrack, Fire the choices.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
It was perfect. Yeah, like and and it's a lot
of songs in the soundtrack, you know, it's not like
a lot of background music that we that I remember.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
Orchestral always right, like, very.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Well done with those songs, very well done. I was over.
I was in the joint, nod in my head, rapping
along everything, like yeah, you know.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
Justin Thing was also the director for Dear White People.
He directed the TV.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Show Okay, well I'll watch some of that. Yeah, did
you that's not that's not something you're gonna notice. The
director did the shy that that you might notice them on,
like Dear White People is in one of those shows
you're gonna notice the director and they weren't really you know,
it was like where student needs to get these out there.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
We also directed that This is a White Man by
the way, But he also directed one of my favorite
shows at the time, Anyway, Run the World that I looked.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
At pictures of Justin. I'm not sure if Justin is
you know, straight up know, I don't know. He mixed yeah,
you know there's something.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Oh he's Filipinos Navian and something else.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
There we go, all right, nice, very good, very good.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Now it's starting to make more sense.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Sor yes, definitely is.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
Yeah, he has a lot of.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
He has because I'm on now, I'm on his website
right now, which he has set up like an old
angel Fire page from like two thousand and one.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
It's very strange how he.
Speaker 4 (18:27):
Has this set up.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
But point is well directed, well acted. The dialogue is
tremendous in how and less about how stronger than us,
but how it's delivered.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
Yeah, people deliver the ship.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Marlon is delivering the ship out of some very basic lines.
At some points, Yes, he's not saying nothing.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
He got fucking said that.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Yeah, it's like wow, Okay, Like fans, I.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
Think are gonna really love this movie.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
If you're football, and that's the that's the that's the
other overriding line about this movie. It's really about It
also is about the cult of personality and the cold
of personality within the Cuote religion of football, because.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Especially in this country, because.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Yes we you know, football is essentially akin to religion,
is essentially God. For a lot of people, it is
potentially it is the lifeblood of a lot of folks.
It literally is maybe the only glue that's holding certain
families together, I understand.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
So yeah, I'm as someone who grew up in Texas,
you know, a football state if there ever was one,
and as someone who grew up a big fan of
the Oilers, you know, in Houston, and now I'm rialking
about the Texas now. But you know, I like football.
But the way that football obsesses, you know, like absorbed
(19:50):
the life of some of my friends has always been
so interesting to me because I don't think there's anything
in my life. I mean, I'm obsessed with like music
and DJ and stuff like that, but something that I don't,
you know, I'm not doing. It's like something that I'm watching.
I've never been that obsessed with anything, you know that's
(20:10):
but football.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
It's the reason why the NFL is a multiple dollar story, right.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
They know how to sell it. They know how to
sell it to you know, lap it up and for
washed athletes, you know, and people who think they still
got an athlete just they're gonna eat this movie alive.
Oh my god, They're gonna love it.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
And it's very football. But like even if you're not
a football fan, you're still going.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
To oh yeah, cause it's not it's not like it's
not like any given Sunday or anything of that nature.
And as someone who loves like NFL films, you know,
that's when they know how to shoot that. Like I
don't like watching regular football, but I will watch NFL films,
you know, the Sunday after when they recap all the
games and the dudes talking and they have that high
definition film. This is not on that level. I don't
(20:57):
know if it's on any given Sunday level, but it's
very well done football for film, you know. Like I say,
people who love football will be and ASA said, the
culture and cult of football is really captured super well
on this. Yeah, so I think that's gonna appeal to
you know, football fanatics very much so.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
And I like the run time. I don't I didn't
think the run time was too long.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Again, I have notes that I will express about certain
things that happened during that runtime, but generally like it
wasn't like too long, too short, Like I.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Was like, okay, y'all no perfect, definitely another.
Speaker 4 (21:36):
Y'all did good editing unlike other Okay, I heard that
unlike other films.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
I'm gonna keep dogging this moment. Listen, do what you
gotta do, because first, for me, easily yeah yeah, I
mean it leaped fraud me. He's seventeen.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
Well that's not hard to do.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
But I mean, for worse, it was hard to do.
Seventeen was definitely.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
It's more worse ones.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
It definitely is.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
But that I see, you know, for the same reasons
that Ben and I had a great time, but also
the reasons where you get a minus, you get negative points.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
I already said it. There are things that.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
Are wholly unexplained, and the film does not care to
go back or even give you a hint.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
And and again this is not about oh I can't
I can't get it.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
I don't understand.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
No, it was just that didn't make sense and not
even made sense.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
It's it's like, and it's not one of those things
where it's, oh, I can't wait to distruss this, what
did that mean? Because it's not. It's not one of those.
It's very straightforward in what it's saying, and you know,
and what the hidden themes I guess that the movie
are those that.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
Hitden's very over.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
It's very over.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
Even when the know vertns, I was still asking what
is going on?
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Why is like? What am I seeing? Like I was,
I was.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
Questioning this and I think that's why I love it.
And damn Kubrick is coming up a lot right now
because we just reference ought the Strange Love and this
reminds me in ways of a clockwork Orange because the
clockwork Orange is so fucking strange this movie.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
This movie is so strange.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Yeah, the great him is strange, but it's incredible in
his strangeness. Yes, but it's also a negative five points
for how strange it is at times.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
And yeah, and without spoiling anything, the ending, the last
twenty minutes of this film are just like I thoroughly
enjoyed them. I thought, you know, I was like, this
is fantastic. But at the same time, okay, a laugh,
I have a laugh.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
I didn't know if I enjoyed it, and I was
just like, why is this happening right now? Like it
was just decisions being made that I'm like, why is
this character doing that.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
With words?
Speaker 4 (24:00):
In the words of the boondogs?
Speaker 2 (24:03):
What did he do to make them niggas that mad?
Speaker 3 (24:12):
Yes there.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
And listen, there are my only reaction to the things
that were unexplained were like, I'm going to come up
with something to explain it away, because I almost feel
that by the end they were just like, we gotta
do something with the.
Speaker 4 (24:29):
Rest of these carrises.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
Let's get it popping, like.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
Okay, okay, Like literally, I think after every act there
was something wild happening and I looked at each other
and said, okay, and you just have to accept it.
So on that basis this it got notes, So you
got some negative points that even in that it was
(24:56):
still hilarious.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
It's still hilariou and I think that's a that takes
that takes a talent.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
There's like this.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Beautiful shot at the end that is so nonsensical. But
then I made this joke about it, the thought that
out I can't tell y'all without spoiling. But it's just
so hilarious to me now, so that is like it
made it even better.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
It's so like, yo, it's off the wall. I recommend
not expect this ship at all.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
That's what it was.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
I recommend this, I fully guess, you know. Going in,
I know I was looking at Reddit. I didn't really
read them, but I saw like pages of pages of
people like, yo, what's your hymn theory? What you know,
what do you think this is all to be about?
And I saw a lot of people guess what it
was gonna be about, because to me, I kind of
figured that going in, But once I sat down ten
minutes into the movie, I was like, Okay, that's what
(25:50):
this is about, right, Yeah, and then that's what it
was about.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
Yeah, And we you know, we guess that part, but
that didn't matter. How journey.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
It's just it's just like we talked down about the dialogue.
Sure it ain't the greatest, but that motherfucking marlind is delivering.
Is this plot complex.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
That dialogue?
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Bro? Is there like some you know, deep hidden message
behind the film? Not really? But is it wildly entertaining
and doing it? Yes?
Speaker 3 (26:18):
And because of that, I recommend this film.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
Yeah, I rate it.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
I'm hovering between the B plus and minus.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Yeah again, just because.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
Of the outrageousness of it all.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
And for me, it goes like not not Razzi level,
you know, where it's like one of the worst films
of the year, but it's also like this is either
one of the best films of the year or one
of the most like C plus films of the year.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
But you know what, it's not parody either. It's like,
it's not parody. It's not like, oh, y'all just trying
to be a bad film. Lo, no, no, no, it's serious.
But it's also like, y'all are y'all are out of
your fucking mind?
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Yeah, And it's also like and I think I like
that because I'm also I'm a big fan of unexplained ship.
You know, like, I'm not one of those people who
was mad at Lost because they didn't explain everything, even
though they explained pretty much everything. But a lot of
people are like, oh when it Flind, isn't that? And
I didn't care because I just grew to love the
characters are Lost and grew to love the journey, and
it was all you know, that's what I loved about it.
(27:19):
And this was I love seeing Marlon Wayne's eating up
scenery and everything that he was in. He is one
of them to do it after that scenery, like he
is full pac Man on that joint.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
And every time he showed up on screen, I'm like,
what is this niggas going next?
Speaker 2 (27:37):
And I can't wait.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
I can't wait till he says something out of control.
I can't wait till he violates these people like I
coulnot wait, Like, what is this man about to do
or say?
Speaker 2 (27:47):
Next? I need that shooting range outfit I needed.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
There's gonna be there may be a lot of cosplay
or at least or maybe not or maybe not.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
This thing could go all kinds of ways.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
Maybe, but gotta be some. There's gonna be some Halloween costumes.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
All definitely gonna be some Halloween costumes.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
Hell, yes, all for this movie because I think, you
know what, I do think this could potentially bring like
a more cult classic approach to it. And again, I
really do wish the best for this film because it is.
It is actually very good, and I do hope it
really makes his budget back and more like it was
like a twenty seven million budget. I really do hope
(28:26):
it makes that and it really Marlin's already a big star,
but I really hope it catapults him further into people
really understanding his level of craft and really understanding like,
Marlon is him right, He is really truly him. He
is that guy, and I just want to make sure
that he gets the respect and the flowers he and
the rest of the cast deserved for this.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Yeah, And it's great because the Way's about to get
this big award where the whole family is being inducted for,
you know, for their legacy, and you know, for him
to drop this right now to top that off, I
think that's very beautiful because, like you said, he deserves it,
but that whole family really does deserve, you know, the
credit that they're getting right now because.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
The open doors for all of us.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
And they just are legendary, you know, the level of talent,
you know, is just outrageous, you know. And Marlin for
the one for the longest. I mean, I remember Marlon
when he was the DJ on in Living Color and
he couldn't DJ, you know, they just had him standing
up there faking like he was a DJ, and that's
how he got on. And so I was like to
(29:29):
see him go with that Sean that might have been
se Sean was the DJ. Yeah, So Marlon was even
a like Marlon was like, you know, the forgotten child
pretty much. And for him to now be Marlon Wayans,
you know, that's really great to see. Man.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
Well he was we're brothers.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
We're happy, and we singing and we're.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Color he was there for that.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
No, but that's that was Marlin and Seawan, the brothers. No,
the brothers Brothers is Keenan.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
And and talking about the TV show O, right.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
But that's what I'm saying that. Well, I guess that's
the thing. Their legacy is so long that like they
have different generations, you know, like where it's like Marlin
and Sean.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
Were there's a generation that do not know Sean. It's
like there's a whole group that.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
Don't know what this man can do.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
And that's why I'm like, yeah, I gotta go see this.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
And just like there's a whole group that don't know
Keenan and Damon well, I mean people Damon stayed after
you know, my wife and kids and yeah, yeah, Keenan
is more like the one who people like you know
and it's like you don't know who this is. He's
the godfather of it and what of the funniest still like,
oh my god, what do you rate him? Then? I mean,
(30:42):
if you know, Tomato is definitely you know, I mean
if you're.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
Getting a full Tomato's and that's good and Tomatoland all
the way.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
And it's like I'm waving between a B plus and
a B. Mindy. You know, like I said, it's definitely
one of the most entertaining films in the year. Top
ten entertainment easy, probably top five. Also, you know, as
a person like who I said earlier, I don't really
care about explanations. This is a movie for me because
(31:14):
it's not really killing me. I can actually, I know.
Speaker 4 (31:17):
You said you weren't sure, but I can definitely see
this again, No.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
I think I can't. I just need to see it.
I got a matrix of the Black Ass Theater.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
You know, I have to make sure because there again,
there there are many black black American elements.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
That, yeah, I need to see this, and we would
like with theater, like I gotta made sure, you know,
I don't know gold Brooklet. I hate that one downtown,
but I might have to do it because just it's
quite egroish. Actually, I think they closed that one, the
one I hated it they did.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
Yeah, I talked about Alamo Alimos down.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
Because they you know that ain't Negro. No, it was
the one that used to be downtown. It was tight.
They had this tight ass stairwell. I hated it, but yeah, no,
I think they closed that joint so damn. Oh well,
I gotta find one. But yeah, no, definitely I'll see
him again. Yeah I will.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
