(02:31):
talk about the new Predator film, which I just found
out on Wikipedia is the sixth or the seventh Predator movie. Like, yeah,
I would have never imagined back today when I first
saw the first Predator, that we'd be talking about, you know, seven,
But you know that's the nature of capitalism and everything.
No franchise ever die. And we are here to talk
(02:53):
about Predator.
Speaker 7 (02:53):
Bad We multiply yo.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
I mean, like I love the first Predator. It is
one of my favorite all time movies. I mean Predator
too with Danny Lover. I love it as well. But
god damn y'all. And I ain't mad at it though,
you know what I mean, Like we're gonna get into it.
But Predator bad Lands directed by Dan Trackenberg, is am
I pronouncing that right? Then?
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Tra Tracking Wretchenberg.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Tracktenberg, tracting Berg. I think it's tracton Berg. Yeah, I
think that's right. I think that's right. Tracktenberg. We know
you could do it. Dan Trattenberger, director of Predator bad Lands,
as well as Pray the Hulu film which preceded this one,
and basically re energize the Predator franchise because from there
(03:43):
they did the animated joint that's also on Hulu and
now Predator Badlands, which will be in theaters this Friday.
So this man is really doing the work with Predator
right now. You know, I'm not mad at it. Pray
was one of my favorite films in a long time,
especially in the Predator franchise. Is probably I don't know,
and I still love them first too, but it's at least,
(04:04):
you know, it's right up there with them, you know.
I can't say which of those first two or and
Pray I love more, but it's right up there with them,
all right. So this will be no spoilers for Predator
bad Lands or a spoiler free as possible. You know,
it's an action films. It's not one of those movies
where it's like a deep ass plot or anything. But
(04:24):
we're gonna avoid any bid spoilers and all that stuff
so you don't have to worry about it. So you
can see this movie, you know, after you listen to this.
So right off the bat, what did y'all think of it?
What was your you know, just overall thoughts on this movie?
Speaker 6 (04:40):
Hm, Well, I thought, to be quite honest, I thought
it was fun. It was I think it's the most
interaction we've seen any of the Predator clans have, like dialogue, Theaza,
the Alta, yet we haven't seen much of that except
(05:02):
for I think what Killer Killers, I think that was.
Speaker 5 (05:05):
It was a little bit of that, but yeah.
Speaker 7 (05:07):
It was animated.
Speaker 6 (05:10):
M you know, just seeing that alone was enough to
like it was like the inner knee after because you
we saw it's funny because you mentioned Predator too. We
saw how tight knit the clans were because after they
you know, Danny Glover came to I mean I could
spoil this Danny Club Glover came through and represented you know,
(05:30):
and and showed Daddy dreadlocks Alien Daddy dreadlocks, like, yo,
we got this on Earth right here, and then all
of the the whole clan just came out from the
shadows like like, oh y'all are y'all?
Speaker 5 (05:44):
Are y'all are like tight knit?
Speaker 6 (05:46):
So that was like back when I said I need
to see like the Predator planet and everything else. And
then following the comics, the comics had a lot of
Lore and the two other Dark Horse comics, but like
just just to see what they did it now, I
totally I had fun.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
I had fun. Is it the greatest?
Speaker 8 (06:07):
No?
Speaker 5 (06:07):
I like Pray was.
Speaker 6 (06:08):
Like top tier. I'm not gonna say if you're going
and thinking you're gonna get prey quality it's a different
kind of movie in my opinion. So yeah, I loved it.
I thought it was I thought it was pretty fun,
all right.
Speaker 7 (06:24):
I thought it was.
Speaker 8 (06:25):
An excellent extension of what I am now calling the
tracton burg Predator Universe the TPU, because because I mean basically,
if you are a fan and you haven't have watched
Prey as well of Killer Killers and gone back to
see the ecstasies they put back into Killer Killers, you'll
(06:47):
see there's so many elements of that here, and there's
so many hints to those other universes, so you can
see he was building because I remember what I heard
he was gonna do Killer Killers that it was animated.
I'm like, why is it in a minute film? The
same way we said why is a Predator movie going
on Hulu? But now he was building something. He was
like pandemic or not? I'm building something, And and I
(07:11):
thought it was a lot of fun.
Speaker 7 (07:12):
I agree. Is it the most terrifying horrific?
Speaker 1 (07:15):
You know?
Speaker 8 (07:16):
I yes, it's a horror movie, but I don't know.
I went for the horror and I stayed for the fights.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
I wouldn't yeah, I'm going in. I wouldn't tell people,
this is a horror film.
Speaker 8 (07:30):
Yeah, it didn't feel like horror horror heavy, you know,
but the fights were amazing.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
Well yeah, I mean all Predator is pretty much in
the action realm for the most part. This is like
slight hints of horror. But this is another you know,
action world. So I wouldn't you know going if you're
looking for a horror movie, this ain't it.
Speaker 7 (07:51):
Or you're scared to see it because you think it's
a horror movie.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Yeah, no, don't worry about the kids. Were I don't
know about kids, but we'll get to that. I was gonna babies,
not babies.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
Not babies.
Speaker 8 (08:05):
I just mean, like you want to go with your
teenager and you don't know if it's gonna be too scary.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
It's not like that, no, yea being what did you
think o bro?
Speaker 4 (08:14):
You know, going into this, I was a huge fan
of Dan tracking bird things, just of Prey, you know,
after talk with him, I actually talked with him about
pray and stuff like that and all his influence, all
his influence and what influenced these movies. First of all,
his video games always influenced a lot of these movies,
which I love about it a lot.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
He draws a lot of.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
Inspiration from video games when he makes his movies and stuff,
so you can always see that in this stuff.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
And what I like about Battle, I enjoyed it a lot.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
But I enjoyed about it is we finally get to
see a yaucha as a protagonist in the movie and
not being hunted or hunting humans.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
You know.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
I love the fact that there's no humans in this movie,
no human fodder in this movie at all. And I
love the fact that he built on that Lord that
we gotta like taste stuff in those I want to say, well,
they're not that great. Those AVP movies, we got some lore.
It was all over the place, you know, there was
a lot of crazy things in it. But this is
(09:12):
is he's really tightening it up. And I like the
fact that he's he makes these movies as fans like
he is a fan. You could tell he reads these
com books. He pays attention to everything in it. Him
and Fetti, they literally pay attention to the lore about
these franchises. And I feel that really working towards building
something together and giving us a proper probably a VP
(09:35):
situation and stuff like that. And I just sat there
and watched this thing, and you know it really it's
not even it lacks dialogue. It's not even that much
real dialogue, right, And that's a really great part about it,
just this whole yaucha language and seeing how they operate
as a species and how they move around, and just
(09:55):
being on this this world that we never experienced before,
this crazy planet that's literally like every single thing is
in there it can kill you.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
And how he maneuvers through that was just fun to watch.
From beginning to end.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
It's like it starts so fast and it stays that
way throughout. It's not really there's not many that many
slowdowns in it. I really enjoyed it all right.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Well, my overall thoughts were, like y'all said, I didn't
think it was as good as Pray. I think Pray
was such a surprise, you know, because the last few
Predator movies have not been that good, so it was like, Yo,
finally a dope one. So this to me wasn't that good.
But at the same time, I was really once again
(10:35):
very surprised. I didn't Killer of Killers were just violence
to me, And I'm at the point I don't know
if my life, for my age whatever where I really
don't watch a lot of violence. You know. It's like
it's something that I find kind of disturbing now, and
so I really avoid a lot of it. So Kilor
of Killers, I was just like, all right, this is
pretty ron and I'm done. And so I think I
(10:58):
turned it off after the second in that one.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Pray.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
I mean Badlands, there's definitely you know, warning for people
like me. It is excessively violent. You know, there were
definitely points in it where I was like, yo, I.
Speaker 8 (11:12):
Think I was thinking, like, uh, we just said they're
not humans, and I think I was thinking of it
that way.
Speaker 7 (11:20):
It's a lot, but there's a lot.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Of it doesn't Yeah, I can't get past that. It's
still it's still very violent. Yeah, it's still a very
violent film. And that's how I just let me make
that point to people. It is like, if you're someone
who is screenish about that type of thing, it is
not for you, probably because it is extremely violent.
Speaker 6 (11:37):
I mean, it's it's to the point where like thank god,
we had all those droids all over.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
The place.
Speaker 6 (11:45):
And all this alien life that we can't explain really
where they what it is with you know, the.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Young Akilles and abandoned, so that definitely gets done. And
you know, like I said, I'm someone who grew up
on the original Predator, which you know, because I've seen
it so many times. I guess that one doesn't affect
me the same way because it's the same type of
incess of violence in that film and a lot of
other films that I grew up on. But warning for
those the rest of it, I've said, like I, you know,
(12:13):
echo what everyone else said. It was very dope seeing
the Predator be a protagonist. I really liked el Fanning
as the second protagonist. You know, of everyone who's seen
the trailers. She plays a synthetic robot who has been
chopped in half, and it's at.
Speaker 8 (12:34):
U huh would say, stay doing your Predator, Yes, but
wailing like if you're a droid you were going to
get chopped at half.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
At some point.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
Yeah, man, go through it.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
This is quite true.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
Shout out to Bishop.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Shout out to Bishop, Shout out to ash Shout out
to I mean down the line, David takeson l at
one point. You know, like like you said, if you
wanted the droids, at some point you taken some type
of bad one. So we can see them white guts,
and so.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
There we go, milk everywhere, and I'll.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Never forget that first one and Aliens and Bishop got it.
I was like, oh, I don't think I've seen alien
at that time, so I didn't know they had white guts.
So I was like, yo, you know, and I'm a kid,
I'm like, yo, what the you know? Yeah? Yeah, but
I really liked el. She is dope as hell in
(13:35):
this role. And it's a very lone Wolf and Cub
type situation or even uh C three P three and
Chewbacca and Empire strikes back because they're traveling type thing
for this movie, and lone Wolf and Cub is always
a great thing to based off an action film. So
you know, you're starting off with a great standard right there.
(13:57):
And yeah, I mean, yeah, I don't know. It's like
I said, it's not one of them films that there's
much for me to say. It's like, you know, the
action is great.
Speaker 5 (14:08):
Yeah, I mean it was only like three people in
that movie.
Speaker 7 (14:14):
And they were people. But you know what's funny.
Speaker 8 (14:18):
I kept thinking, like the saying chick from a Leficent
and it is.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
It is, it is.
Speaker 8 (14:23):
I take it up because she did such a good job.
I barely recognize her and I didn't.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Remember she, did she because I don't remember my left
like that, you know, there's been a minute. But it's
like she's she's a young princess, right, so she's younger
at that point.
Speaker 8 (14:37):
Still, yeah, but not yes, yes, she is younger at
that point because this is the coda Fanning's sister.
Speaker 5 (14:45):
Yeah, I think it's a it's a younger sister.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Younger sister. Yeah, yeah, the coda have been popping and
then l came along. Let me get some of that.
Speaker 7 (14:51):
Right, there's a third one in there somewhere.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
But I'm sure there is, you know what I mean, like.
Speaker 7 (14:57):
The Stars Guards, yeah, it.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Was proper, or the Baldwin's you know, yeah, there's always
you know, these families love to get that money.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
So nepotism, boy, yeah, I ain't mad at it.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
And Elle's really good, like really really good.
Speaker 8 (15:16):
So I'm gonna say she's really good overall, and I'm
not gonna I'm not gonna give away anything but.
Speaker 7 (15:23):
Very very good. And I that's what made me go
half the movie.
Speaker 8 (15:27):
I'm like, this is the check from a leposite, right,
because she was so good, I completely just did not
have She's not a princess here, you.
Speaker 6 (15:34):
Know what I mean, not at all. M hmm, totally
different thing all together. That's yeah. It going in like
I was one of the things that I was.
Speaker 5 (15:44):
I was really excited about to see how.
Speaker 6 (15:47):
They would tie in Will and Utani and the actual
Predator universe, because one thing is for sure, this is
I mean, this is part of a larger conversation. But
I am very decided flight with the way that they're
doing the alien franchises.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Now now, so it's enjoy Alien Earth.
Speaker 5 (16:07):
I did. But the problem that I have with that
is that it's.
Speaker 7 (16:12):
Like it's all terrible.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
But I know that is good, but I'm like, I'm like,
how I mean, was I you know, like that's about it?
Speaker 5 (16:25):
It was, no, But it's not Cannon though. That's the
problem they.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
Have to I have to say, like I'm I'm the
person like who I will always say Cannon is like
the most one of the worst things that ever happened
to fandom, you know, like the idea of this.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
Like everything having to connect, yes.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
And then and then and then like the idea of
like you know, oh this needs to like how does
how does this matter? With everything else, it's shouldn't you know?
Speaker 8 (17:00):
It's like, yeah, I don't want that, like its text.
Speaker 7 (17:05):
They make the Cannon like it's source text.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Yeah, and then they make it where it's like if
you don't know something in it, then you don't know
any And that's like one thing. Like that's why I
was saying about bad Lands that I really enjoyed and
I saw it with my partner who does not you know,
I don't think they've even seen the first Predator like that,
you know, and they enjoyed it. And they've seen Prey
and they really enjoyed that as well. And that's why
I love the Prey and bad Lands, both of them.
(17:30):
I feel like you can go in having never seen
a Predator film and really enjoy it. And so that's
why I like the Like I'm I'm a I'm an
anti cannon person myself, man, I'll be honest, like because
and especially when it comes to Blade Runner, Aliens and
this because man, it's a hot mess is and they
(17:51):
really take place hundreds if not thousands of years but
each other.
Speaker 5 (17:54):
This the thing.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
So it's like why even that's what I'm saying, you
know what?
Speaker 7 (17:58):
You really funny though, even.
Speaker 8 (18:02):
Even it's anti cannon, or even though your your argument
is anti cannon, I will say, and I find it
funny that people keep saying that Alien Earth is not
Cannon because if you've seen Aliens, it ties in so
well with this movie and it's wild, so like even
even the whole concept of Alien Okay, I'm gonna spoil
(18:23):
some Alien Earth because this is not what it's about.
But Alien Earth you meet all these other aliens and
all these other things that the predator would have hunted
if you met them, you know what I mean. And
so it's like you get this idea of like, oh,
in this universe, there's so many more monsters, there's so
many more things that I don't.
Speaker 7 (18:41):
Know, and the sense are like children.
Speaker 8 (18:45):
So it's so funny because I feel like it's a
good prep for this movie because we're meeting all these
other like monster island level animals and she is kind
of like a child.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Right, That's that's a good point. Good point, good points,
But you'd have to sit through that. I'm not wishing
that on anyone who hasn't already you know me, you
do not need to Alien.
Speaker 7 (19:18):
It takes a long time to get to where we.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Will not you will not help your you know, enjoyment
predator band man. Let me know, you know with your points.
If you've already seen Alien, you know.
Speaker 5 (19:36):
Don't do that. It's a whole different.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Sort.
Speaker 6 (19:46):
But see, that's one of the things that really got me.
I'm sorry, like, and I don't go back to the
whole Alien thing. But the thing that really annoys me
is the fact that there's so much like philosophical context
in all of the storylines, and they do you used
to look at something like Prometheus, right, it's not done,
it's not.
Speaker 5 (20:03):
But that's the thing.
Speaker 6 (20:04):
It's horribly done. It's like surface level philosophical ship. And
I'm just sitting there like, yo, y'all have so much
potential to do some amazing stuff, but it's like, what
are y'all doing?
Speaker 1 (20:16):
But again, do they really like? Hold on? It's a
franchise based around It ain't in the bust out of
people's chest. It doesn't go much further than that.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
That's the thing for me.
Speaker 6 (20:33):
If Alien the original Alien I saw the originally, like
I was traumatized, yes, and also blessed to see it
at a very young age because you know, Haitian parents
didn't care so like they let me watch it, right,
But that.
Speaker 5 (20:46):
To me was like one of the most scariest things
I saw because it is.
Speaker 6 (20:49):
Literally the the ultimate of like that love crafty and
feeling of the fear of the unknown, because this is
a creature that didn't care about logic, that didn't care
about They didn't have empathy. Its main point was to
just destroy you and consume you. Yes, that's that was it.
And to me that was like, jeez, there's no reasoning
(21:11):
with it. There's no and it's physically superior to everything else.
And through that there was so much different things they did.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
We're reading all the.
Speaker 6 (21:19):
Dark Horse stuff like I was just like, all right,
this this has potential to be so much And then
for Methus comes out.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
I'm like, you know that, Prome.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
This was just Ridley Scott trying to feed into like
what Ben said to this Cannon stuff because years wanted
to you know what, how what did the space Jockey
have to do it?
Speaker 1 (21:45):
All this?
Speaker 4 (21:46):
We gotta introduce this. We finally gotta explain the space Jockey.
We gotta we gotta explain where does Xeno wore come from?
Where all how all these eggs getting this ship it
just sat there for years.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
But I need to explain this.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
And you don't. Don't you look.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
What it is.
Speaker 6 (22:05):
It is just there and niggas died and we never
coming back here again.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
You know, the one poor guy just wanted to get
his little his bonus is cut and get out.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
Man.
Speaker 7 (22:23):
Yo, what's up?
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Fan, fam?
Speaker 9 (22:24):
It is I Tatiana King, and I want y'all to
know that I need you to do me a favorite.
Speaker 7 (22:29):
Please share this show.
Speaker 9 (22:31):
You're listening to us, you're watching us, but you're gatekeeping
and I don't understand why you're doing that. I really
need you to share with your friends, share with your mama,
share with your cousin, share with everybody, because if you're
like me, you love to share the joy and it's
really important that you do that.
Speaker 7 (22:46):
So please tell people about four O Nerds.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
I love you all right.
Speaker 7 (22:55):
Your elbow as well, And then I will put that movie.
Speaker 8 (22:58):
To be We're not You're right, we're making it sound
like we hate the movie we just saw.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
We don't know, we don't, yeah, we really, yeah, I
mean I think all of the Predators. Yeah that wasn't
it either? Yeah? I like that one though? With that
was that Adrian Brodie went there on the plane. That
was No, that wasn't credit Predators. I think that was.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
They're trying to do They're trying to do it. The
whole Aliens thing just added s to it, you know.
Speaker 8 (23:28):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
And then the one after that they when they're back
on Earth. No, that was not what the.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Body armor.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
Yeah, that workout MA the Predator bad Lands. Like we
all pretty much enjoyed it. It's like I said, it's
just not a film like the long and short of
it is this, you know, the basic story of the
film is that the main predator, right Deck, Yeah, Deck,
who was played by Demitrious Shuster.
Speaker 5 (24:07):
I'm not a Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
They literally sent the email from They sent like a
pronunciation of his name with it.
Speaker 7 (24:18):
Ko.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (24:21):
I think yeah, he's.
Speaker 7 (24:30):
Yeah yeah, so Dimitrius s Ko.
Speaker 8 (24:35):
I'm gonna say that that's my attempt.
Speaker 5 (24:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Uh. He's been in Red, White and Brass, which I've
never heard of Jonah and the Panthers on television, never
heard of any of these. Great job as Deck, Like,
fantastic job, especially for a character who is speaking an
alien in the language. All of his lines are in
subtitles and he doesn't have humanoid features other than ies.
(24:59):
So you know, I mean he's humanoid, but you know
he's predator. So it's amazing, really an amazing job what
they managed to emote through this character. How you get
to feel for Debt through the film. The journey to
Debt goes on. You know, it's definitely a journey of
finding your family and all that. It's like I said,
(25:20):
this is not a deep movie, you know, like I've
definitely got feels of Guardians of the Galaxy or Fast
and Furious, even very much a Fast and Furious like
this is a.
Speaker 8 (25:32):
Formation if you watch, if you watch any of the
listeners that watch anime, it's also very shown in Yes,
it's very like I must get stronger, I must invest my.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
Master, I must must yeah, which is also very karate film.
Speaker 8 (25:48):
You know, yeah, I don't have I don't have powers.
I must get my powers. I don't have my name.
Speaker 6 (25:53):
It's yeah, yeah, it's funny good.
Speaker 5 (25:57):
But I mean when you said fast, you're.
Speaker 10 (26:00):
Now all I see is all about Family's saying in
this language, going back to get a certain character that
you will see when you watch the movie, Yes about
the family.
Speaker 8 (26:16):
Diesel, Yes, yes, yes, saying it in the yauchl language.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
I need that. That means we're being diesel.
Speaker 11 (26:25):
This nigga spitting talking about literally we're nice nice yet
where Deck is talking about family for real, this nigga sitting.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
Literally what did this thing though? Yeah, that's for me.
It's a it's a basic film, but it works, you know, Yes, Yeah,
that's it is. It's not like where I'm like dogging
it from being basic. It is what it is. It
doesn't need to be much. Lone Wolf and Club is
not a complex story, you know what I mean, man's
you know, since it gets chilled. He goes on a
(27:05):
quest for revenge with his child, you know, boom, that's this.
You know, Beck is looking for revenge and looking to
complete his first hunt with his you know, not his child,
but his child child, with his adopted child.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
His tools and yeah tool, yes, his tool.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
You need and they all they all became family.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
And then at the end, you know, it's not much
to it, but it's a good ass movie. You know,
I'm not mad at it on any level. Like, yeah,
I definitely want to point out, like Carara said, the
action is dope, you know what I mean. Dan can
direct some fight scenes. He there's a wide variety of
(27:57):
aliens for the predator with the you know, the planet
they're on is called a death planet. Basically everything on
this mug is trying to kill you, bro.
Speaker 8 (28:08):
That honestly, honestly, this this planet, I think it's called Genna,
would give Skull Island a run for its money, because
it was how many times in the first like fifteen
minutes did you go, damn, listen?
Speaker 6 (28:25):
We only if you really think about it, it's probably
what we saw was probably within the five mile radius
if you really right.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
We didn't even see the full We saw what was
just there.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
And there's mad stuff in the background that you're like,
oh that okay, he ran into like there's some warm
thing on this mountain that I was really glad we
never got to close up.
Speaker 12 (28:47):
That's yes, right, this is and I don't want to
spoil it, of course, trying to make if there is
one scene I do have to mention, and is very
beginning when he first got to the planet and you
see the entire skyline, I'm like, why the LoVa in
the sky. This planet is just was created at a
(29:10):
pure hatred Like that planet actually makes me believe that
there's a God, because there's actually something evil.
Speaker 5 (29:17):
Out there that made that.
Speaker 6 (29:19):
I don't believe in this Big bang theory, just I
believe what made that thing, because.
Speaker 5 (29:25):
Seriously, hey, that was beautiful.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Though it was the funniest thing is at one point,
uh L's character is trying to explain where the planet
came from, and she says something really quick about there
was a red sun, and I'm like, that is not enough,
you know for this. I'm sorry.
Speaker 7 (29:49):
The way she said it was like so Krypton.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
I was like, come on, that is not enough a
red son.
Speaker 8 (30:00):
That was a longer scene, and they were like too
much talking.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
No, no, get right to it, you know, we show
you what it is exactly.
Speaker 8 (30:12):
But I will say that the but which also very
good about tracton Burke because like I think Be said
earlier that there's really not no dialogue all these things
that he learned, Like, he takes a journey. That's the
part that's very much like Prey.
Speaker 7 (30:30):
It takes the journey, and but.
Speaker 8 (30:34):
That journey has a lot of trial and errors, and
when he messes up, he messes up, like exactly even
when he first meets I can't remember Elle's character's name again,
I'm saying it wrong?
Speaker 7 (30:45):
Why did I not say THEO, but I can say
the other guy's name. Figure that out.
Speaker 8 (30:49):
But the but like, there's all these things that he
has to learn. And the other thing is he's got
that rage because he's small and he's always you know,
he got picked on his whole life for the other predators, the.
Speaker 5 (31:04):
One, the one un Yeah.
Speaker 6 (31:06):
The one thing that I will say is what I
did appreciate was that character growth. What was once just
pure rage for like vengeance became conviction and like, you know,
just straight up patients of like I'm gonna do this
and do it's right because of the lessons that he learned.
(31:28):
So that was that was that was good to see
in that character. I mean, look, and that's as deep
as you need to get into.
Speaker 5 (31:34):
A predator character. You don't really need to go there, you.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Know, for like you know all the predator movies.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
It's kind of refreshing to see like a predator that
looks like looked as terrified as he did in certain aspects,
Like you've never seen like so much terror on a
predator's face. Like there were certain scenes where the things
were popping out and he was like, what the hell
is this like, what in the hell is this? Like,
what am I dealing with on this planet? Like?
Speaker 5 (32:03):
Am I dealing with wild?
Speaker 3 (32:05):
Did I make a mistake coming in?
Speaker 8 (32:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (32:07):
Exactly, Yes, I couldn't regret this decision.
Speaker 8 (32:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
He definitely had that look on his face multiple times,
Like I played myself. This was all bad.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
But you know, I'm not gonna spoil nothing, but like
this when you know, to see him in the end
and how he came together and just picked up all
these things, I didn't even want to spoil, but just
picked up all.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
I was like, Oh, that's fire. Like how he.
Speaker 4 (32:33):
And I was like, you know, you know when we
meet predators, they're already like mostly fully developed hunters, and
they're like badasses and they do all this crazy stuff.
To see this one like struggle, like pure struggle. But
was nice to see with a character that we've been
following for years and all we known him to be
(32:54):
was just this guy, this thing that is humanoid that
be slicing up xenomorphs and tossed humans around left and
right like nothing, just disappearing in So to see this,
this this predator try to earn all that stuff's very
refreshing for this franchise, and I think a lot of people,
I think fans who've loved the first two movies especially
will really appreciate this film abs or whatever because they
(33:16):
would like to see more of this particularly this character
is how he develops into like his true Predator.
Speaker 5 (33:23):
Form, Right, Yeah, I totally totally agree.
Speaker 6 (33:26):
And then even to add on to the point that
you're saying, it's like again, you know, not you know,
saying what's in the movie, but like to see the
mobility of the way that Deck moved. The very first
thing I was thinking about was like, so that's how
they be like just appearing out of nowhere, because they
could move like that. Because if you look at the
(33:48):
first two Predator movies, they were just like one like, oh,
he's all the way down there, and then then he
turned around, he's right in your face, and.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
That man be moving though And at first when you
see it, like the technology to show you, well now, but.
Speaker 5 (34:00):
That dude was moving. He was going, yeah, he was going,
that's the thing.
Speaker 6 (34:06):
And it was there was a whole scene in there,
well you'll see in the movie where you're kind of like,
so that's how he did it.
Speaker 5 (34:11):
Yeah, yeah, you know what I'm saying, So that made
me appreciate that.
Speaker 8 (34:14):
And also the fact that they wove into this that
he does not have a cloaking device yet that's what
he wins and what he earns because you saw him
the whole time and so that you can see. I
thought that was a nice like things that they wove
into the into the lore.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (34:33):
And also because he crashed landed on the planet. I
mean clearly that was in the trailer. He didn't have
all his stuff, he was separated from his he was
separating his stuff when he was in the Little Wonder
Woman playing trying to try to land.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
Clear metal gear. Tit just naked nothing.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
Back of cigarettes.
Speaker 7 (35:03):
A cave.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
He's like from the bottom boy. Yeah, And that's another
one that I don't want to spoil. But there's also
like a tremendous and really dope shout out to the
original Predator, and like it just follows the whole themes
of like Predator of you know, like man versus nature
and then man learning you know, to use nature to
(35:29):
fight back against nature. And it really did that very well.
I mean, like I was sitting there at the end
of the film, like during the last you know, the
third act, I'm like, oh, that's awesome. I'm just sitting
there to the whole thing, like this is so fresh together,
like I say, Yeah, it's like I said, it's a
(35:51):
very simple movie. But what it does, it doesn't all
very well. You know. The action is very well done.
The predator lore is very well done. Uh. Thea's character
is just great and just brings like the humor and
the humanity you know, to it, even though they are
a synth themselves, right, like a sense.
Speaker 7 (36:13):
That was given some emotion that she's not like other sense.
Speaker 8 (36:18):
And that's why I was saying, if you did sit
to the slog that is, you would understand how they
can un that up and that down.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
You know, been hot setter it so you don't have
to go through it. Oh man, yeah, I mean.
Speaker 5 (36:40):
It was an interesting one. I I liked it. I
thought it was cool, but like I was, just it.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
Was ten hours bro it.
Speaker 7 (36:52):
Yeah, they're really sitting fucking.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
Sense with kids' minds into the first alien, you know,
encounter on Earth. There's an alien kids at it. My god,
that show was so bad and so good.
Speaker 8 (37:11):
I can't Yes, that's like I hated it, but this
is all.
Speaker 7 (37:16):
The things that word.
Speaker 5 (37:19):
I mean, yeah, that's that's.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Look.
Speaker 6 (37:22):
I've gotten to the point now where I can I
can now compartmentalize, so even if something is bad, I
mean like, yo, but they did.
Speaker 5 (37:29):
This particular thing. Yeah, I could do that because you know,
I appreciate. And one thing's for.
Speaker 7 (37:35):
Sure when episode three, that's really about it for me.
Speaker 6 (37:38):
I mean, but like one thing's for sure, both Alien
Earth and this movie when the art book comes out,
the concept books come out, I'm getting those because there
was some very good concept I mean just I want
to just.
Speaker 5 (37:54):
Geek out over the overall scenes and shots.
Speaker 6 (37:58):
The way things were lit in this movie would just
be really good. Yeah, just like there was there was
certain landscapes. I was just like, Yo, this this this
was work.
Speaker 7 (38:08):
And honestly, definitely that's what is best work.
Speaker 8 (38:12):
Yeah, you can't tell what is real, and you knew
the monsters were you know, obviously like.
Speaker 7 (38:18):
When you're when they're making plants look real.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
Yeah, definitely definitely reminded us what we didn't get by
Prey going Straight to Home, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (38:30):
Yeah, Yeah, and.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
I'm glad and I'm glad they put in Prey in theaters.
You know they're doing a double feature for that, so
glad they're doing that.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
Yeah, damn, man, I might have to go because I
really want to see Prey on a bit screen. That
was very nice.
Speaker 8 (38:46):
Nice. I think everybody said that when Pray came out,
it's like dish in the theater.
Speaker 7 (38:50):
Yeah, really be in the theater.
Speaker 8 (38:53):
But I'm glad that they didn't shove it and gave
it to us anyway, because yeah, it deserved every thing.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
And it got all the love and you know it
led to this. So yeah, any last thoughts on this,
I don't Yeah, like I said, there's not much real
say it like.
Speaker 8 (39:10):
We're trying not to spoil it.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
Starts getting into spoiler territory, I feel, because there's one
big thing that we you know, we haven't talked about
that's definitely very spoil us and we're not going to
spoil it because I was I was like, oh ship,
that's dope. You know, I had no idea I was
going to go down. And then like I said, that
whole third act is very dope, and I don't want
to tell you anymore than I, you know said.
Speaker 8 (39:34):
I mean, if you've seen the trailers, yep, that you
know who is in this.
Speaker 7 (39:40):
Movie that is from the animated series. I'll say that
because that's already out there that yeah, there's a lot more.
Speaker 8 (39:50):
Uh, there's a lot, not a lot more of that,
but they do. It's not just the I think there
might be more in tracting birds universe that it's from
his own lord that he is, you know, created, then from.
Speaker 7 (40:05):
The overall alien lores.
Speaker 8 (40:07):
I will say, if you are a huge I don't know, Chuck,
you're a bigger Alien Predator fan than I am. I
think this movie has really good Easter eggs to the
original Predator, but it's got a lot from Tracktenberg's universe.
If you've watched Pray and if you've watched the animated series,
that's my feel. So if you're a hard, die hard
(40:29):
original Danny Glover Predator fan, you might be like, well
all right, you know.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
But if you're if you're an original Arnold fan, then
this movie is this is it for you. This is
it for you. I think even more than the tratt
and Bird stuff, because this.
Speaker 7 (40:45):
Thing there's something for both.
Speaker 1 (40:46):
I think there's something for both. Yeah, I mean, Trattenburg
is building out, you know, hes trying to, you know,
keep this doing he trying to keep his money trade rolling,
So he's trying to keep a job.
Speaker 5 (40:58):
How many more what I got?
Speaker 13 (41:01):
You give him, give him the key, but I mean no,
but you know, seriousness, what I'm seeing he's doing that
that's a place of real like love for the franchise
because he he treated a.
Speaker 6 (41:20):
Lot of this stuff with care, you know, and and
and it shows. It shows because the thing is even
in the way that we're describing this movie, it's like,
you know, it does what it has to do, but.
Speaker 5 (41:31):
At the same time it's not. It still fits in
the whole.
Speaker 1 (41:36):
Narrative on that On that note, like I said, you know,
I do think he does love it. And now I
can I will say this, so we basically all say,
you know, let's finish this for you up. And I
want to make one last point, but we'll say you
should go see this film if you're a Predator fan,
if you're looking for some action this weekend, even like
I said, even if you're not a Predator fan and
(41:56):
you just like a good action movie, I think you'll
love this film. If you you have no connection to
the Predator universe at all, you've never seen any of
them before, I think you'll really enjoy this film. I
don't think you need to speak.
Speaker 7 (42:08):
Any feature that would be fire.
Speaker 1 (42:10):
Oh yeah, if both of them, you have no need
to you know, know anything about Predator. And they're two
completely separate movies that like are just you know, very different,
so you enjoy them both.
Speaker 4 (42:23):
I think, yeah, I think it's I think that would
be a good jumping on point for somebody that's for say,
hasn't seen the first Predator film or the Club or
I'm too old for this ship, Danny Glover, you know.
Speaker 1 (42:37):
What I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (42:37):
So I think I think, pray and this would be
a great jumping on point for a new new fans
and then probably open the door for them wanting to go,
you know, do deep dives to this and go look
at other things and you know, watch it, you know,
even watch some of the bad ones. I'll always tell them,
don't watch the Predator after Predators, don't watch that one.
(42:57):
But like, just you know it, even with the bad movies,
there is some great lore in all these movies. It's
great law. But like you said, Ben, they went overboard
trying to connect it all, you know, they you know,
they didn't really have to go so hard trying to
connect it all at all, you know, like the little
East eggs and these things, and you know that's.
Speaker 1 (43:20):
What fights a predator. That's coool, But like I don't
need to know where the Aliens came from an it at.
Speaker 5 (43:28):
Yeah, I mean that's that's the thing.
Speaker 6 (43:30):
Well, see the thing is but a problem that I
do have with the whole canon thing is that I look,
just don't say it's canon or not.
Speaker 3 (43:37):
Just let it happen, tell.
Speaker 5 (43:39):
The story and then let it go out there.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
Yeah, but see the fans won't let that happen. That's
the problem. People want to just tell the stories. And
that's why I have a problem with Cannon. It's like
because you know, like as a creator, you're you know,
you just want to tell stories sometimes. And I also
believe that, you know, you can't do things like you know,
Professor X formed X Men, so you can't be like suddenly,
man need at form that's still.
Speaker 5 (44:01):
Yeah, you know, it's weird. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (44:03):
And it's also like at this point, seventy five years
of X Men stories, so them all making sense together
shouldn't be the issue, you know, Like, yeah, if you
want to go in and tell a new X Men
story and it contradicts this one from fifty five years ago.
Oh well damn, you know, like sorry, maam, Yeah, unless
it's like it contradicts it where you know Professor Hanson
(44:24):
informed the X Men anymore. That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (44:26):
It's like, right, right, there certain fixed points in time
and everything. But then when you the character is like,
you know, fifty years old in the comics, yeah, but
still look like they're you know, twenty seven.
Speaker 5 (44:37):
Is just it's a problem.
Speaker 6 (44:38):
Now you should be able to have the freedom to
go a little crazy with those characters without having to
go back.
Speaker 1 (44:43):
Yeah. But at the same time, you know, it's everybody's
first character, I mean comics, so and it happens that
same thing. It's like Predator, same thing. It's like when
you know, as a kid, you were not thinking, oh,
they're gonna make you know, thirty years of Predator movie, right.
Speaker 5 (45:02):
Right, that's a great point.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
Forty it's forty years a Predators like oh man, so yeah,
wrap it up, like you say, I think this is
a very enjoyable film. If you love Predator, if you
know nothing about it, I think either way, you're really
gonna enjoy this joint anything else, anybody else, Uh.
Speaker 4 (45:24):
See it on the biggest screen possible. Man, I think
this is one This is one of Yeah, this is
one of those films where you know, everybody says that usually,
you know, this is one of those films. You know,
a lot of movies say you should go see it
in imax, but this is one of the mos where
you really should see it, and you really because they're
really fantastic in that. And I was very happy when
I got to that theater and it was in the
Imax and I was like, thank god, because they wasn't
(45:46):
really they didn't really tell it. You say that to
me when I said you got to approve of the screens.
I went whe like, oh, yes, it's an Imax theater.
Speaker 5 (45:52):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (45:53):
So I think this is one of those films you
should definitely spend that extra buck forward to see it
in Imax. And I monestly I might go see it again.
I don't know kid permitting or I just have to
wait for it. But you know what, thanks to the
digital age. He think it's come home quick anyway. So
I'll be watching probably next end of the month.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
So.
Speaker 7 (46:12):
Thanksgiving it will be.
Speaker 4 (46:15):
I'm one of the people who do not complain that
movies come home quick, because I remember having to go
to toy r Us and reserve VHS tapes.
Speaker 3 (46:24):
I remember going.
Speaker 4 (46:25):
I remember I remember reserving Independence Day in like June.
Speaker 3 (46:31):
That movie even come home to like December.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
What I'm saying, so.
Speaker 5 (46:35):
You wait like five years.
Speaker 1 (46:37):
For the two words for me and my sister paid
for like the last episode of our Senior Hall on VHS.
Speaker 5 (46:45):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
Yeah, that was money, and me and my boys put
together money to buy it was the It was the
three unreleased episodes of Robotech that never came out from
the Sentinel series. And we were Robotech you know, fanatics.
It was like ninety dollars. So we had to put
together the money and then we shared this VHS tape
(47:07):
and those three episodes were trash.
Speaker 7 (47:11):
Got money.
Speaker 5 (47:13):
That's how they get your money. Oh man, oh man.
Speaker 4 (47:17):
Only to find out you could download them on linewire
years later.
Speaker 1 (47:26):
That was that look that I might have to go
download them down.
Speaker 5 (47:30):
That was the time.
Speaker 9 (47:31):
Man.
Speaker 1 (47:33):
Man, I'm not even gonna tell you what which one
I use right now because I love it too much. Anyway.
Oh yeah, before we get out of here, you know, everybody,
let y'all you know, please let the audience know where
they can find you all that.
