Five past the hour. Good MorningFriends, Wednesday, May fifteenth, on
the Morning Show with Preston Scott, just about halfway through the month of May.
It is show fifty one fifty nine. He's Grant. I'm Preston Scott.
Great to be with you this morning. As always, we love sharing
time with you. Today's program rundownlooks like a to do list for a

(00:38):
week. It's just floated. We'llset the program just a moment or two.
The verse of the day this isthis is an interesting one. I've
got a couple of different devotionals andthen I've got my Bible app that has
a daily scripture. This is fromone of the devotional apps that I've got

(01:02):
on my phone. It's John fifteento two. Every branch in me,
this is Jesus. Now, solet's just for a second. We're sitting
around a fire, We're sitting arounda table, we're on rocks, and

(01:26):
it's just you, some of yourclosest friends, family that you believe,
love Jesus and him. And thisis what he says. Every branch in

(01:46):
me that does not bear fruit hetakes away, and every branch that does
bear fruit he prunes that it maybear more fruit. As he says it.

(02:15):
I love doing this. I loveimagining for as long as I've ever
read scripture, And I mean thisgoes back to when I was a kid
being introduced to this concept that there'sa personal God that loves me, and

(02:35):
I started reading the Red letters, really reading. I have always tried to
place myself there, to think aboutwhat it was like. To the point
this type of spoken word by Christ, I wonder is he looking at different

(03:06):
people as he says this, Ashe said, every branch in me that
does not bear fruit he takes away. Is he staring at someone? Is
he making eye contact with two orthree four people? And conversely, every

(03:34):
branch that does bear fruit he prunes. And that's important. Prunes. What
does that mean he disciplines. He'sstill even those that are serving and doing
their very best to represent Christ intheir life, in their thoughts, in

(03:57):
their words, and their deeds, they're still pruning. This past weekend,
I pruned our azaleas. Why becausepruning begets more flowers, It shapes the
plant, it makes it healthier. It fills in areas that are a little

(04:21):
long and leggy and not so notso filled with growth. That's what God
does in our life. So remembernumber one, there's a real strong encouragement
there to live properly so that you'renot well, you're not taken away from

(04:44):
from the vine, from from thesource. But importantly understand that there there's
pruning that comes to those that arebearing fruit. There are seasons where things
are kind of clipped back little bit, and that's okay. So rejoice in
that. I always used to explainit this way. Pruning brings growth.

(05:14):
God reveals himself and all of creation. His nature's revealed in nature. Ten
past the Hour inside the American PatriotsAlmanac. We go next, settle in
for the morning. It'll be worthyour time. The Morning Show at Preston
Scott. This is the Morning Showwith Preston Scott, US Senator Rick Scott.

(05:49):
Next hour, Florida Man, FloridaMan Factor Fiction, Next hour,
Third hour, Charlie Strickland. Gotsome things he wants to talk about.
Talk about those things. Personal defensesegment. Got some questions wondering how some

(06:10):
things well, never mind, we'llexplain May fifteenth payday for many of you.
Woo sixteen oh two English explorer BartholomewGosnold leads the first European exploration of
Cape cod. You want to knowwhy that guy's name isn't in the history

(06:30):
books? Think about it. Imean, now you could say, well,
he's in your history book. That'strue. There's just some names they
just don't have a ring to them. Bartholomew Gosnold, it just didn't resonate
the same as some of the others. But we're giving him his due.

(06:54):
Sixteen oh two. Ooh, lookat me dropping lines. Let's see here.
Seventeen fifty six, England declares waron France in America beginning of the
Seven Years War. Nineteen eleven,Supreme Court upholds an order for the dissolution
of the Standard Oil Company. Itwas ruled monopoly. Nineteen forty. Crowds

(07:17):
of shoppers scrambled to buy nylon stockingsthe first day they go on sale and
selected stores, And in nineteen fiftyone, the AT and T announces that
it is the first US corporation tohave one million stockholders. Nineteen fifty one.

(07:38):
So there you go. I wantedto get through that real quickly because
we've got a few announcements to make. First. This is kind of fun.
First Commerce Credit Union partner of thisradio program for years and a partner
in this community for longer. Dogsfor Dogs today at their sum of East

(08:01):
location, which is kind of theirmain headquarters on ninety and I ten.
It's that complex that's sort of diagonalto the Car Museum on the other side
of the interstate. It is fromeleven to one. They're raising funds for
the Leon County Humane Society, andso you can grab a hot dog,

(08:24):
chips and a drink for a donationminimum suggested donation of five bucks while supplies
last. You can also just donatedirectly. It is the Liz Nicks fundraiser.
Liz was a member of the boardat FCCU and animal Lovers, so
they're doing a thing to support loveit wonder if they'll have pupps out there,

(08:46):
have some dogs. I'm the typeof guy that I've never done it,
but I've actually drove by and thoughtabout just sort of sitting in the
dog parks, like there's one nearmy house, and just go sit in
there while other people bring their dogsand ask if I if their dog can
just be friendly to me? Ican I pet your dog? Because I

(09:09):
love dogs. I do. Ijust don't want to own one, but
I do love dogs absolutely. Thecounty beginning to pick up debris as in
vegetation, tree limbs, that kindof thing from the storm beginning beginning Friday.
So just remember the pickup starts onFriday. They're not picking up household

(09:33):
garbage. This is not what thisis for. This is debris from the
storm. Vegetative they call it vegetativedebris. That stuff decomposes, dissolves and
actually turns in. It's great stuffif you can can mulch it up and
use it. But at any rate, they will be picking that up starting
on Friday. And this is theweekend the Tenthannuel Lionfish Festival in DestinE,

(09:58):
so it runs this Saturday and Sunday. So if you are a spear fisherman
to want to start, you know, snagging some lionfish for the chance of
winning some prizes they've got I thinkit's one hundred thousand dollars worth of prizes,
contest for most biggest, smallest.Yeah, one hundred thousand dollars worth

(10:22):
of prizes. If you want tolearn more, Emeraldcoast Open dot com.
Emeraldcoast Open dot com. So we'recaught up on some PSA's there're seventeen past
the hour getting invitations to visit people'sdogs. I'm a pathetic souls, I

(10:58):
would tell I was telling Grant andthe Break. I looked it up last
year before the Spearfishing Lionfish Spearfish Tournamentbegan. Last year, they had one
hundred and forty four participants. Thepre tournament number was fifty one hundred and

(11:22):
thirty nine fish. Get this,In the tournament, nineteen thousand, five
hundred and sixty lionfish were speared orcaught, so a total of twenty four
thousand, six hundred and ninety nine. You'd think, well, that surely
decimated it. It put a dentin it. But they're at it again.

(11:48):
The pre tournament standings as of earlythis week. As of Monday,
forty two hundred and eighty three lionfishwere caught or speed. Bob Brown he's
got a team put together. He'sgot five hundred and ninety lionfish by himself.

(12:13):
Buddy Tim Shivers has five hundred andten, Mark Klein Peter has two
hundred and twenty seven, and TommyCrumlin one hundred and eighty seven. Tommy,
come on your boys, are waxingyou. Between Bob and Tim,

(12:33):
they've got eleven hundred lionfish caught betweenthe two of them. That is insane
and an I mean, I don'tknow how they're catching them. I don't
know if they're just like going downthere with some massive drop net. I
don't know if they're allowed to.I don't know how you but I'm thinking
if you're spearfishing, that is aridiculous amount of time underwater. That's just

(13:03):
that's that's amazing, all right.Lead research assistant of the program shared this
with me. Fred Keller used thechassis of a nineteen seventy six Mazda pickup
truck and created an SUV sized radioFlyer red Wagon that was street legal,

(13:31):
engine, four speed transmission, fullystreet legal. Made it about fourteen years
ago, so twenty ten Fred passedaway. His wife's selling the vehicle.
She said, I'll miss it.I'll miss driving the fun of driving it.
It's so much fun to take somebodyfor a ride and seeing people's reaction.

(13:54):
It was auctioned over the weekend byAlaska Premier Auctions and a Raisers,
part of a Mother's Day Classic carauction. What do you think it's sold
for and I'm saying this is identicalto a radio flyer wagon, as in,

(14:16):
it's got the a large faux toebar that you would hold on to
to pull someone in a wagon orpull your if you were a little kid,
you'd pull your wagon around with you. It's got that. It's it's
shaped identical, the tires look justlike. But it's a street legal running
vehicle. Just imagine though, aradio flyer that's the size of a small

(14:41):
suv that is fully street legal, wide open, no cover. No,
it's a wagon with a motor thatyou can't see. I mean, it's
it's crazy. What do you thinkit's sold for? It was sold at
auction seventy three five seventy three thousand, five hundred dollars. One of a

(15:09):
kind, unbelievable. It's got aone point six liter four cylinder engine,
four speed manual, fifty seven thousandmiles on the odometer. And it is
a radio flyer. It's it's youcan look it up online and see the
pictures of it. It's spectacular. It's just cool, all right. When

(15:33):
we come back, big stories inthe press box And a special note to
those of you live living in SouthGeorgia, Preston Scott on news Radio one
hundred point seven dub UFLA. Imentioned that those in South Georgia that listen

(15:58):
to the appropriate and I recognize thatwe have listeners all throughout Georgia, but
we are in a broadcast pattern thatcovers a good bit of South Georgia.
You need to be aware of whatjust happened. This story comes from one
of the research assistants, Otherwise itwould not have been on my radar.

(16:19):
Big Stories in the press Box broughtto you by Grove Creative Marketing and digital
expertise. The headline from Uncover DCdot com Wendy Mahoney writing, the Georgia
State Election Board ensures twenty twenty fourwill be a twenty twenty repeat and this

(16:42):
should really concern Georgians, those ofyou that are citizens and you pay your
taxes in Georgia. During the quarterlymeeting on May seventh of the Georgia State
Election Board, there was a motionfrom a board member, doctor Janis Johnston.

(17:03):
She had made the case that therewere a lot of discrepancies that needed
an Attorney general investigation into Fulton Countyof the twenty twenty election and I'm going
to cite those in just a second. A fellow board member don't know if
I'm pronouncing his name correctly. RickJeffares or Jafares had said he was supporting

(17:30):
the idea, but he didn't showup to the meeting, and so she
didn't get a second to her motion, and it was shelved by the chairman,
John Fervier. Now, at thatpoint it was likely going to be
a two to two vote and hewould have to go on the record and
break the tie, but couldn't doanything. He showed up on a meeting

(18:00):
on May eighth, made a motionfor reconsideration with doctor Johnston, did Jeffares
or Jafares, but the chairman ruledit out of order. Whatever. Here
are the issues. Their investigation hasuncovered twenty thousand, seven hundred and thirteen

(18:26):
ballots with certified votes that have nosource tabulator from which they should have originated,
in other words, where they comefrom. They have seventeen eight hundred
and fifty two ballots with certified votesbut no ballot images that are required for
vote tabulation. They don't have theimage of the vote, does it even

(18:47):
exist? They have seventeen two hundredand thirty four unsourced votes found for certification
after reporting results with an even evenlarger shortfall, and then thirty one and
twenty five double scan double counted ballots. That's a lot of irregularity in one

(19:07):
county and it's gonna sit and diewithout an investigation. Mississippi now adds to
the list of states that are banningbiological men from women's spaces. The governor
signed the bill into law. GovernorTate reeves so single stall bathrooms, changing

(19:34):
areas, dorms, well as atleast one gender neutral bathroom and changing room
in all public institutions. Schools areprotected from that, but schools will go
to a biological sex period, notwhat you identify as so we're gaining ground

(19:56):
on that front a little bit.I thought this was interesting. There have
been rumors floating around that the firstLady of the State of Florida, Casey
DeSantis, might have an interest inrunning to be governor in twenty twenty six,
No, says Governor. Governor Desantassaid that his wife has zero interest

(20:18):
in political office, so take thatfor what it's worth. And then,
lastly, the Chairman of the FEDsays that confidence that inflation will slow is
not as high as it was previouslyin the year. That follows what we
said last month that the Fed Reserveis ultimately coming to the realization that the

(20:44):
economy is so bad they can't evendo biden a favor and throw them a
lifeline. That's my way of wordingit. But I told you there was
no chance the economic numbers would allowthem to do it. They couldn't not
cut interest rates, not where inflationis. And that's what he just confirmed.

(21:06):
Forty minutes after the hour. Morehere on the Morning Show with Preston
Scott. Preston Scott, do youunderstand the words that are coming out of
my mouth? On news radio onehundred point seven double UFLA another sign of
the times. This story, itdidn't quite get some details right, but

(21:36):
Fox Business reporting Red Lobster closing dozensof locations as bankruptcy possibilities loom. Now
we have we have chronicled Red Lobsteras well as a lot of other chains
that are struggling. They're struggling withthe the the cost of everything going up.
I mean, if you've been ifyou've been a fan, I've got

(21:57):
a part of my my wall hereI've got a lot of the captains from
the Deadliest Catch have been on theshow. I've had Bill Watrowski, Wild
Bill uh sig Hansen, Keith Coleburn, I've had uh Jonathan Hillstrand, it

(22:23):
might have been Andy Hillstrand, I'vehad I've had several of them on the
program. And so I've always followedwhat goes on in the fishing industry on
both coasts. And if you ifyou've been paying attention, going back to
the Obama years, they've been killingthe fishing industry trusting government estimates as opposed

(22:48):
to the guys who make a livingout there in gals. There are a
few captains that are female, notmany, but it's their livelihood. They
gain nothing by overfishing. And insteadof believing them, they've been putting quotas,

(23:10):
they've been shutting things down. They'vebeen making things brutally difficult. To
that point, Florida Governor around theSanta Sign signed into law basically law opening
up red snapper season. We talkedabout it with SALNWSO on Monday. The
fishing industry gets hammered. The priceof seafood, crabs, everything skyrockets.

(23:37):
Well, you've got red Lobster caughtwith the regulatory environment. See that's how
the regulatory environment trickles down and affectsa seafood chain like Red Lobster. Then
you add to that the regulatory environmentof forced wages, and you get a

(24:00):
perfect storm. With then inflation whereeverything surrounding any industry is going up and
people are having less disposable income tospend dining out. You've got the perfect
storm to kill a chain like RedLobsters. Kill it. They're facing bankruptcy.

(24:22):
But it says in the story thatCalifornia and Florida will be losing five
locations each. Oh no, no, no, no, no, no,
no no no. If you goto the Red Lobster site, there
are right now probably two dozen closingin Florida alone. Now the closest location

(24:44):
I can find to where most ofus live is Jacksonville. Jacksonville's losing all
three of its Red Lobsters. Gainesville'slosing its Red Lobster on New But if
you if you look up the chain'swebsite and then look at Florida closings,

(25:07):
you'll see or wherever you live, you'll see whether it's it's staying open or
not. But I wanted to justagain, you know, I mean we're
talking seafood, do a deeper diveand and look at why this happens and

(25:30):
making sure that we're piecing together allof the different parts of an operation for
a business and how the decisions ofa government weigh so heavily on now jobs.
You know, you and I goingout and have an endless shrimp isn't
the issue. The issue is thejobs. Look, almost anything that you

(25:56):
buy on any menu at any restaurant, you can make it a home and
probably for a lot less. Soyou're paying for the convenience and hopefully the
expertise of a chef to cook itin a manner that you really enjoy,
season prepared, little twists and thingsthat just make it a nice experience.

(26:18):
But we're we're with all of thesethings coming together, we're removing all of
that and then, oh, bythe way, we're killing all the jobs
of the people that work there. This is how the decisions you make in
the voting booth determine what happens inreal life. We've said it before,

(26:40):
We'll say it again. Elections haveconsequences. The Morning Show with Preston Scott
Us Senator Rick Scott. Next day, we've got quite a bit to talk

(27:08):
about with the Senator and the timewill have What kind of what kind of
life would you have to be livingto make it your job to be the
sour patch in the room, andI mean literally your job. You were

(27:33):
compensated to just try to make otherpeople miserable and you enjoyed that. What
would that say about you? Iwould think, I mean, and obviously

(28:00):
there are people that are fine withthat because they exist. Their sole profession
is to reign on other people misery. Example, Freedom from Religion Foundation their

(28:21):
sole purpose. They claim to bea group of atheists. They actually have
almost a sister organization made up ofalleged Christians, the Separation of Church and
State Foundation or something like that.Bunch of misguided souls. They are just

(28:47):
a sad little bunch, this groupfounded in nineteen seventy six. They target
Christians, that's all they do,and they bully. They bully groups that
simply don't know their rights and don'tfight back. They've taken advantage of what

(29:12):
a lot of a lot of peopledo, not all but many personal injury
lawyers to just settle, don't litigate, just settle, just get it over
with operational costs, cost of doingbusiness. It's like I knew a guy,

(29:34):
No, seriously, I knew aperson who would drive around and look
in his rear view mirror for somebodythat wasn't fully paying attention, and then
he'd hit his brakes and get themto rear end him. He's constantly looking
in his rearview mirror, and ifsomeone's for example, you're leaving an interstate

(29:56):
or you're entering an interstate and you'returning to look to merge. Now that
happens, you're taking a quick look. He waits for that quick look,
hits his brakes, you rearend him. All of a sudden, the claim
is made. Oh my back,Oh my neck, Oh the damage to
the car. I know this becausethis happened to a family member, and

(30:19):
I happen to know the person, and upon doing some investigating, found out
that this same thing happened in otherstates with this same person. It was
a scam. He was running. You've got organizations now bullying. In this
case, a small elementary school publicschool in Florida has been targeted because the

(30:45):
elementary school had a fellowship of Christianathletes huddle, and they sent a letter
to the school district superintendent saying youbetter disband that elementary school students can't possibly
lead a group like that. Theycould not. It has to be done
with teachers, supervision and help withadults. They acquiesced, they shut the

(31:07):
thing down. Unbelievable. What amiserable lot in life. Hey Brent's second

(31:30):
hour, ruminators, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, far thank you
for spending time with us, sortof kind of getting back to a kind
of normal for some. It's gonnabe really hard and long for others.

(31:51):
In the wake of the storm, the damage just crazy. The power of
a tornado, let alone a fewof them, and it was I mean,
could you imagine if it was spreadover a wider area, how shut

(32:13):
down things would be. And thatis no one's fault, that's just that's
what happens. But grateful to seeschools back operational. Clearly priorities made on
getting kids back into school. Soto all of City County workers, those

(32:37):
of you out of town listening tothe radio program, you've you've stumbled upon
the show, thank you now, sincerely, a sincere, heartfelt thank you
for helping those of you that liveand work here that are called out at
all hours of the night when thingsbreak and you know, power go out

(33:00):
in a given area for who knowswhy. It could be just a line
that drops because of a branch. It could be because of an accident,
some malfunction, it could be astorm like this. No, really,
we appreciate what you do. Andto those of you that are part of
the agreement that sends teams from onepart of the country to another when when

(33:22):
that part needs help, thanks forcoming. We appreciate it. I know
you're being compensated, but that doesn'tmatter. You've taken on the job that
is a dangerous job and one thatrequires you to do things like this at
all hours and leaving your family behind, and we appreciate it very very much.
And who knows, maybe you'll becomean iHeart listener of this radio program.

(33:45):
Wherever you go back to you'll you'lltune into the show because you can
listen to this show live on theradio on iHeart. That's something to always
remember that you might you might leaveyour car behind, you might leave the
transistor behind at home, or howeveryou're listening. But man, you've got

(34:07):
a smartphone, laptop, desktop, you've got us. You can listen to
this show live. You can streamall the content on this radio station live.
Just remember WFLA in Panama City orWFLA in Tallahassee, simple as that,
and then you can listen via podcast. The Morning Show with Preston Scott

(34:28):
speaking of smartphones, saw this storyone of the lead research assistants or the
lead research assistants. You know, when the smartphone was first introduced two thousand
and seven, actually nineteen ninety two, what blackberries a nineteen ninety two BlackBerry

(34:49):
was considered a smartphone? Yes,yes, smartphones were introduced first time in
nineteen ninety two. And what didit do? Like, what were the
features of weberry? It was beyondwhatever the the given just being able to

(35:12):
place a phone call was, whetherit's you know, doing some modest online
stuff or whether it was texting orwhatever the case might be. But what's
interesting here is that the average Americanchecks their phone one hundred and forty four
times a day. Oh, I'msure mine is much higher. To be
honest with you, I've die, yeah, I believe it. And they

(35:37):
talk about that that is a dreadfullybad habit and there are recommendations inside this
story because they they found I mean, obviously it's it's determined that it can
be a distraction to relationships. Itcould be a distraction if you have kids

(35:58):
because you spend time with your phoneover your kids. I mean, the
list goes on and on where smartphonescan get in the way. But they're
just they're talking about some some littlehabits, you know, like just don't
have it with you with everything thatyou're doing. Just put it away,
leave it behind, Go work inthe yard, go do something without it.

(36:22):
Schedule literally one of the recommendations isliterally scheduling time without your phone.
Yeah, scheduling it. Desperate times, call for desperate measures. Leave you
leave your phone in a separate roomwhile while answering questions scored UH the highest

(36:45):
when people took a test. Fivehundred undergraduates took a test. Each members
were told to put their phones onsilent to prevent any interrupting sounds during the
experiment. Wait people had their phonenot on silent, they were they were
asked to put it on silent, and participants who left their phones in a
separate room while answering questions scored thehighest. Those who kept their phones on

(37:08):
their desks while answering the question scoredthe lowest because the phone just being there,
even on silent, distracted them. It's just the power of the device
to just draw your You're just looking, just good. You see it light
up, even on silent. You'relooking. So take that for what it's

(37:30):
worth. Eleven minutes past the hour, check on weather and traffic here on
the Morning Show. This is theMorning Show with Preston Scott. I've been

(37:58):
hanging on to this story and I'mgoing to keep this segment short so i
can get to the next segment withenough time. So make sure that we
get out of this segment on time, mister producer. Flight attendants at JFK.

(38:20):
What a shock. New York Cityhave been part of an international money
laundering ring to smuggle eight million dollarsof drug related proceeds out of the US.
And they're using flight crews flight attendantsbecause they have special access to and
through airports. Four airline employees, three from New York another from New Jersey,

(38:45):
took a cut of each shipment asthey snuck through a special employee access
lane at TSA checkpoints onto flights boundfor the Dominican Republic. Now they use
what's known as the Known crew Memberprogram, the KCM Separate Expedited Security Lane,

(39:10):
they face less scrutiny. As allegedthe defendants knowingly smuggled large amounts of
illicit money linked to the sale ofnarcotics, including fentanyl, took advantage of
airport security checkpoints using their trusted positionsas flight attendants. So we've got flight

(39:30):
attendants now being mules run and drugmoney. But here's what I wrote in
my notes. What if see inthe wake of nine to eleven I have
been saying and I've been accused ofbeing stupid for saying it out loud,

(39:50):
But trust me, if I'm thinkingit, bad guys have long ago thought
of it. All these people thathave acts has passed the TSA checkpoints in
some of these large airports where they'rethey're selling stuff. They're selling magazines and
gifts and all kinds of things. You're telling me a box cutter can't get

(40:13):
through there, that they don't havethem. You're telling me that these people
can't be part of a sleeper cell. You're telling me something far more serious
than running drug money couldn't take place. We're vulnerable. We are sixteen past

(40:39):
the hour. You've got to hearwhat's coming next. Just about twenty one
minutes past the hour. US SenatorRick Scott coming up. I gotta be
on time in this segment, sowith no will delay. Last week floor

(41:04):
of the United States House of Representatives. For many of you, this will
be the first you've heard anything aboutthis story. US Congressman Matt Gates,
and it is a development. Speaker, I seeking animous consent to enter into
the Christal List record part two ofthe interim report that I have prepared for

(41:25):
the House of Representatives, entitled Unwelcomein Nager Without objection, Mister Speaker,
I rise to warn this body ofthe deteriorating conditions in the African country of
najer and to give rise to theconcern of service members and contractors. More
than a thousand of them right noware functionally being held hostage Innjerer. They

(41:49):
are being used as pawns during anegotiation that has left America at the bended
knee of Third world criminals and thugsas our troops seek medicine and fresh water
in troop rotations. How did weget here with more than eleven hundred Americans

(42:10):
endangered right now in Nazer. Well. It started back in March of twenty
twenty three, Secretary of State AntonyBlincoln went to Nager and proclaimed that it
was a model of resilience, aplatform for great democracy. It would be
where America would execute its Africa strategy. One year later, almost to the

(42:30):
day, there was a coup inNager. And guess who overthrew the government
that we said was the great modelof resilience. People we trained. We
trained the coup leaders to go throughoutthe democratically elected government of Nager. And
I know this will surprise you,But after that occurs, they say they
want our bases that US taxpayers havepoured more than a billion dollars into gone,

(42:53):
They want our service members gone. And so I came to this floor
after hearing from some of my constientswho were stationed in Njer and after the
overthrow of the government, there weren'tresupply flights. They said, Congressmen,
we are going to be out ofmedicine in May if we don't get this
sorted out. Three days after Ifiled part one of the report that I

(43:15):
am supplementing today, the Biden administrationannounced that we will be leaving Nager,
a welcome sign, I'm sure, but the leaving didn't actually happen. We
have people who are now more thantwo hundred days into a one hundred and
eighty day rotation, and while thenegotiation regarding retrograde and withdrawal or ongoing,
the government in Nager is using thewell being and health of our service members

(43:38):
as leverage to get what they wantout of our government. Our troops aren't
getting medicine for malaria, for cholesterol, for their blood pressure, chronic conditions.
And I've received the letters from thewives, from the fathers of the
people who are in Nager now,and they say, we know that our
family members are being extorted by thelocal governments when they try to leave hundreds

(44:00):
of dollars to even bring a bagthrough the airport. We know that Russians
are behind the wire. You knowwhat a real US president would do,
say that C one thirty's are ontheir way to this year today with the
water and the medicine and the foodour troops need that they will have a
full fighter pilot escort there. Andif the Nejeri government or any other third
world thug tries to even turn ontheir air defense systems. We should show

(44:23):
those leaders and those thugs what thetarget package looks like on their houses and
their family members, because it shouldnot be Americans that are suffering. Because
President Biden and Blincoln are so embarrassedthat their strategy in Africa failed that they're
willing to let Americans' conditions deteriorate. They're willing to let our military spouses and

(44:46):
family members wonder what's going to happento their loved ones with their blood pressure
rising and no blood pressure medication,or concerned what will happen now that we're
in May and there's non sufficient malariamedication. We should always keep our people's
well being at the forefront of ourminds. And today today we should be

(45:07):
resupplying our troops in Ajer Africa, and we should dare these thugs and criminals
to mess with us while we're doingthat. This is a total embarrassment,
but saving politicians and people like Bidenand BLINKLN from embarrassment is not worth putting
US troops at risk. I willstay on this. I will stay on
our government and the Najeri government toensure that our military members and their families

(45:30):
are appropriately treated and their concerns areelevated to the highest levels of this house.
Thank you, mister Speakraielbeck. Anyoneknow about that? That one listener,
send me updates on this story forthe last few weeks. This is

(45:55):
a story that is even getting gayon CNN. They're paying attention to it
even CNN. This is significant development. We've got Floridians in Niger and Biden's

(46:23):
leaving him hanging out to dry andas Congressman Gates stated, because they're embarrassed
what they did failed and backfired famously. They trained a junta that took over

(46:44):
the government that they were bragging about. Twenty seven minutes after the hour,
come back, US Senator Rick's gotaway in on that and much more.
When we come back Preston Scott onNews Radio one seven double USLA, thirty

(47:10):
five past the hour. It isWednesday, here in the morning Show with
Preston Scott, grand Allen running theprogram and joining US Florida US Senator Rick
Scott, Senator, how are you, sir? That's a rainy day in
DC. Uh and probably nothing goodfor you will happen today in DC.

(47:32):
Is that supposed to be good?News or sorry, is that supposed to
be something shocking for me? Presten, This is I've been up here five
years, and you know it's sofrustrating, is it? Is it?
It's like these people realize that whenyou spend this ridiculus amunt of money,
that inflation's not going to go up. When you try to shut down direction,

(47:55):
fossil fuel gas prices are not goingto go up when you dictate the
terms and tell everybody they're every allof our you know, uh, you
know everybody you know, like aroundthe world, that we're the smartest people
in the world. Maybe people say, you know, you might be,
but I'm tired of you telling methat. Go to hell. I mean,
that's what's going on. This administrationis the most incompetent group of people

(48:19):
that you can ever assemble. Ihave made this comment repeatedly, and I've
not had one member elected to Congresswilling to say they agree with me.
But I know that they do withoutsaying it. But I'm going to throw
it out there, Senator, ifthis isn't intentional the ruination of our economy,

(48:42):
the energy sector, uh, slammingpeople with regulatory strangleholds, taxes,
if it's not intentional, what isit? I know? I mean,
person, I mean, you can'tbe this stupid. I mean everything,
every thing that you buy, everything, our whole life is tied to the

(49:04):
price of energy, right from yourutilities to your gas, to everything that's
produced, your food, everything. So to intentionally cause the price of gas
to go up and say, guysh, I'm shocked that we have inflation and
don't worry be transitory. I mean, you can't be that dumb. And
to do, you know, holdweapons back from Israel, but say you're

(49:28):
pro Israel. I mean, whowho believes this stuff? Have an open
border where we don't vet anybody andthink, oh gosh, yeah, crime
is going to go down. Weknow Maduro is empty his prisons and sending
all his criminals. Guess what ifthey're criminals in Venezuela. Yes, they're
going to be criminals here. Andif you're right this your seems like it

(49:51):
has to be intentional because you can'tbe this stupid. I mean, think
of Lincoln the other day said thatIsrael should get the hell out to Gaza.
Wait a minute, they did that. They get they got out of
gossip, They let Goslins decide howto be governed. They chose some of
us, they chose some us,dozens chose some us. Then Hamas comes

(50:13):
across the border and kills twelve hundredpeople, including over thirty Americans. They're
still holding American hostages, and bothBlincoln thinks that we shouldn't do that,
Israel shouldn't do anything about it.So how many thousands of Israel Israelis to
be killed just just because they're Jews? That's all. That's the only reason

(50:34):
I've been over there. I wasover there about months and a half ago.
I went to a place where i'dbeen before, where sixty three people
were killed. Babies were beheaded, girls were raped, people were burned alive.
I went to the Nova Film Festivalarea, talked to parents that kids
were just ever, just killed becausethey were there and they were Jews.
Do you b Lincoln says, getthe hell out do you think us,

(50:55):
Senator? Do you really believe thehostages are still alive? Because I don't.
I don't know how many. I'vegot this little boy a picture of
him, Ariel, the four yearold Google redhead boy. And I was
telling some of the idea of memberswhen I was over there that I had
this picture and they said, well, don't don't be optimistic. I don't

(51:20):
know, but don't be optimistic. It's been what's been how many it's two
hundred some days and these people aretreated like like dirt. I mean,
I don't know how people survive. And if these kids, these you know,
there's they took a ten montal baby, you think it's what's the chance
that somebody really cares about him?And they when they put when they beheaded

(51:43):
babies and they killed babies by puttingin a microwave. I mean, these
are this is are buried. Whatthese people do. So senator stand by.
Senator Rick Scott with us this morningfor a few more minutes, and
uh, we're going to talk abouthis recent visit to the capital city.
Of course, he was governor inthe state of Florida, knows Tallahassee well,
but came through when the in thewake of the tornadoes, and we'll

(52:07):
talk about that as well as acouple of other things next the Morning Show
with Preston Scott. A few moreminutes when us Senator Rick Scott, Senator
Tallahassee was your part time home whenyou served as governor and you came back
recently to take a look at thedamage in the wake of the tornadoes on

(52:30):
Friday. We were on the airwhen all of it happened. What were
your impressions when you came through.Well, I'm dammy, Joe. You
know, I was over there, you know where Bordos is. Yep,
was up over there, and andhe feels hard for the people. You
know, it seems like it's alwaysthe poor families get hurt. But I
went over and thanked the sheriff andhis team for what they do. I

(52:52):
mean, they're out there trying tokeep people safe every day. Sounds like
the utilities worked hard to get thepower back and that's that's the first.
You know, people want to youknow, to keep them alive first,
and then number two, you gotto get them back to normal life.
You got to get power back on. You got to get the communications backed
up. So it sounds like Italked to I talked to Coeo Tack when

(53:14):
they were committed to get things backup quickly. So you know, you
just you know, what you learnedin these disasters is keep people alive.
Everything you can keep them alive numberone, and then number two, get
them back to a normal life asquickly as you can. Senator, you
serve on the Armed Services Committee. We shared some time last half hour talking
about the developments or lack of developmentsin Niger that better than a thousand US

(53:40):
soldiers in personnel over there in essencebeing held hostage. Another failure by the
Biden administration. You look at what'sgoing on in this world, and Biden
got elected. Russian made Ukraine,Iran as you know, you know,
basically attack well they attack Israel, the hooties, you know, you know,

(54:01):
we're trying to control the Red Sea. You've got his bottle shooting rockets,
Hamas, attack kills, You've gotChina, you know, thrown in
Taiwan, you got to do inAfghanistan. I mean, why this whole
Biden team on to look at themirror and say, what in the hell
have we done? Maybe we've gotto change something. And then now you

(54:22):
look at Niger, you know what, you know, why can't why can't
the Biden administration have a relationship withanybody but the bad guys? I mean,
you know he Katou said she andhe ran, so he tries to
get him. He knows money. It goes to Gaza's going to hamas he

(54:44):
knows it, doesn't do anything aboutit. They've spent and they spent three
hundred million dollars, three hundredllion dollarsof our dollars to build a port the
Gaza that you know, if youput a US trips so close to that,
get killed. I was, Iwas the Navy. I never thought
the commander in chief would intentionally putme at harm's way. I mean,

(55:06):
if somebody attacked as I got it. But this is, this is like
you. They're putting American troops inharm's way without the ability to defend themselves.
Do you believe Joe Biden is actuallymaking any decisions at all? Or
is there somebody else or a groupof somebody else's that are really shaping US
policy? Well, you know andthe everybody. I don't know Joe Biden

(55:34):
will I never served with him.I met him a few times. I
was with him about six months agoin the last after the last hurricane.
I think he's basically outsourced his life. I mean he's he's allowed all decisions
being made by somebody else. Hejust no of these guys appear. And
what I think that title that's anice title. I get to do I
get to find their Force one.You can go make all those decisions,

(55:58):
you know, blink In and Olivanand Susan Rice and people like that.
You guys, you guys make upthat. I'm just gonna go enjoy the
White House, nice place, campDavid's pretty nice. Air Force one is
nice you So yeah, I thinkhe's sort of outsourced the whole job to
other people. If if Barack Obama'snot actively involved in this, he's surely

(56:22):
got to be in the circle somewhere, doesn't he, Because I mean the
policy people, well, the policyit is the same crazy people. I
was going to say, because Obamasaid he was going to radically transform this
country, and we're seeing the radicaltransformation in the last three years. Yeah,
I mean they've been they've been doingit. I mean, just look

(56:42):
at the persecution of Trump. Imean, who would have thought that you
have you don't account for something theright way in your books, that you're
going to go to jail. Whowould have thought that the number one partical
candidate of a would be would theythey try to put the guy in jail?
I mean, he's got all thesecases are just Hey, Joe Biden
wants to win. Democrats can't runon the border, they can't run on

(57:06):
the economy, they can't run onforeign policy. So hey, let's just
get our guy and the other guyin prison. Maybe maybe that'll stop him
from being able to campaign. Imean, this stuff, this stuff should
scare the crap out of you.I mean I went through this, and
I know so many business people havegone through it that if you go fight,
you know the Democrats they're going todo everything they can to destroy you,

(57:30):
whether it violates the law or not. That's what we've learned as well.
Court. The court decisions don't seemto matter to them. Oh look
look at the Look at the Imean, look at all the stuff.
I mean, Biden just violates thelaw. Democrats do hold them account.
Look at the border. I mean, my orcists, my christ by the
constitution had to have a trial.By constitution had to have a trial.

(57:52):
But we didn't tell We just dismissit. I mean they had to,
that was the constitution, and theydidn't do that. I mean, did
valate the law, but also violentthe constitution and the Democrats are all okay
with it. Amerphis is a completeliar. He's violated the law intentionally.
I mean he's coming in front ofme and lied to meet countless times.

(58:15):
Well, I don't know how youdo it up in Washington, DC,
Senator. I guess you have towear a hazmat suit at all times.
But I appreciate your time this Weekingwe don't change it, that's our real
life will go away if we don'tchange this, no doubt, no doubt,
Senator, thanks for the time.I look forward to having you back
soon. I see Preston by USSenator Rick Scott forty seven past the hour.

(58:43):
It's the Morning Show with Dreston Scott. We need a little pick me
up here on the program. So, yeah, if you read something insane,
I probably did it. I'm fatabout the block in my name.
Now thereson to the sins I havecommitted and we all be better when we

(59:10):
have somebody. Yeah, before weget to Florida man fact or fiction?
Uh, Florida man stories here? What is it about people in Florida assaulting
people with food? How is itthat food has now become a weapon.

(59:30):
I suppose it's better than right. We got Charlie Strickland coming in a little
bit we're gonna be talking about havingto defend yourself or or the situations involving,
you know, weapons that can reallycause harm. So I suppose a
seventy three year old man handcuffed nowcharged with a felony battery charge after being

(59:59):
a rested at a wah Wah conveniencestore in Fort Pierce. He'd been previous
previously trespassed. It was still active. It placed him in handcuffs, and
he was holding half a cheeseburger whilebeing cuffed. After being provided demands to

(01:00:25):
drop said burger, he refused todo so, according to the arrest report,
quoting after the handcuffs were placed onhim, Joseph forcibly threw the burger
into my right leg, leaving residueon the thigh of the law man.
So he's been charged with throwing ahalf eaten cheeseburger the guy. First.

(01:00:52):
First of all, the man wasin cuffs and he managed to throw the
cheeseburger. Well done, I mean, you know, I'm just saying.
And then there's this story, bythe way, I need to Joseph Delancey
is the name of the man withthe hamburger arm. Then there's Kanye Medley,

(01:01:16):
twenty year old arrested for hitting hissister with fried chicken. They got
into a family argument. Amid thesquabble, Kanye grabbed a bag of Churches
chicken and unleashed a storm by throwingCrispy Chicken at his sister. Only only

(01:01:44):
in Florida, All right, Timefor Florida man factor fiction. I've got
three headlines, you tell me.Florida man threatens to cut buttockx with machete
over a dispute over potato chips.Florida man arrested for stealing seventy five pool
flows to engage intimacy with and Floridaman caught stealing women's underwear from suitcases fired

(01:02:06):
from baggage handling job. Gosh, two of these are weird. I'm going
number one. It's headline number three. Florida man caught stealing women's underwear from
suitcase, fired from baggage handling job. Is it Sam Brenton, the nuke
guy? You'd think it would beright. That's probably where he got his

(01:02:29):
start. Personal Defence Charlie Trickland gonnafollow up what we've done in the last
hour by past the hour. Itis the third hour. Ruminators, ladies

(01:03:00):
and gentlemen, boys and girls andyes, just boys and girls. It's
The Morning Show with Preston Scott Wednesday, May fifteenth. For some of you,
it's Payday. He haught of that. He's Grant Allen. I'm Preston
and this is Charlie Strickland. Heis the co founder of the Talent Training
Group, co host Talent Outdoors andAll Things Talent. Hello, good morning.

(01:03:22):
How you is? I am I'dbe great, I am fantastic.
Did you love Senator Scott's intro tohis segment it's raining up here and I
don't know how people live. Yeah, it was like, it's not going
to be a good day for youwith what we do in Washington, DC
to ruin your life. It wasa great interest. Yeah. Well he's

(01:03:43):
he sees the inside of it.It's been up very long enough to know
how terrible it really is. Yeah. So maybe maybe we can pull out,
you know, control of the Senatethat's go around, and maybe they
can actually start to do something.Although I never expect anything actually come out
of Washington in our favor. Ijust wished they would quit weaponizing all of
the alphabet agencies and going after everybodythat doesn't need to be targeted. The

(01:04:08):
beauty of Florida is not just thethe amendment that says we've got to have
a balanced budget. It's not justno income tax. The beauty of Florida
is a part time of legislature. They can they can only do things for
two months of the year. That'sthe beauty. Yeah, that's and it's

(01:04:29):
amazing watching Tyler hassee when there's sessionsin sessions out, I mean, it's
different. I was doing an activeshooter training course the other day for an
association, which basically includes some lobbyingand stuff, and I was talking about,
well, how does a business flowand as well, when sessions in
we do it this way? Whenand then the rest of the time we
do it that way. Yeah,a lot of that goes on in this

(01:04:51):
town. And I was it wasencouraging to hear that, you know,
Senator Scott had actually was paying attentionto what was going on in this town.
And I and I'm gonna say this, and this might not be popular
to the people who are here inthe Talla hassee right now that are suffering.
And I am not by any meansminimizing the suffering that they have.
My daughter has been without power withkids, brand new kid. It's been

(01:05:15):
a bad time. It is.It's terrible. However, go ahead,
the winds that were here the tornado, the winds were how fast one hundred
and twenty something like that. Onehundred and thirty maybe fast, Okay,
it was one hundred and fifty inJackson County and it was thirty five miles
wide. So when Michael hit, when hurricanes hit, it's regional, it's

(01:05:41):
not. It's not one thousand yardswide times a mile or two. Now.
Hitting the capital city is terrible, but I think it should If you
see how bad it is in Tallahassee, then go back a few years and
you'll know how it was through awhole region. Think of all the places
in the state of Florida that arejust absolutely destroyed. Well, I think
just like downtown Tallahassee. I thinkthe way to look at it is Tallahassee

(01:06:03):
got a taste of what it's likewhen you're near the coast when a hurricane
comes in. Because more power poleswere snapped in half during this tornado than
three hurricanes combined. And I've beenout on the streets of Tyla hassee when
I was with a Sheriff's office,I was on the Severe Weather of Salt
team. They took the SWAT teamand they gave us change. So you
guys just sulted hurricanes. Well wecalled it that because they would bring us

(01:06:26):
in and make sure we could stillcrank up a chainsaw and put us on
the streets during the highest of thewind when you know everybody else is going
in, you know there and yousee the debris removal teams and Tyler has
the police department, Sheriff's office hadthose same teams out during this working I
saw them. Kudos to them fordoing that. I mean, there's a
tradition of that. I remember LarryCampbell going out with a chainsaw and clearing

(01:06:47):
trees on his way into work, you know, after one of those storms,
and that's what happens. All ofthe agencies come together. Everybody works
together to do that. It's uh, you know, but it is.
It's been bad, but it's notWe're on what are we six Capster South?
It was like sixteen miles from thecoast and in Mariana is like forty

(01:07:10):
five minutes from the coast, andthey got one hundred and fift mile on
our winds and Jackson County up there. So if we ever get a hurricane
that truly just plows right up toSaint Mark's River, we had a problem.
Yeah, no doubt about a treecommunity. I put it this way.
We'll see after that. Well, well, it's trees and tornado or
hurricane force winds don't dance well together. One of these days, if that

(01:07:33):
did happen, you'd see a lotof utilities starting to go on the ground
here. You just can't do itnow. Ten past the Hour with Charlie
Strickland on the Morning Show with PrestonScott. The Morning Show with Preston Scott
on News Radio one hundred point sevenbuflaback with Charlie Strickland and the Talent Training

(01:07:59):
Group. Before we get to someof our personal defense topics here, I
just got to ask you there wasa Florida man story, I don't know
if you caught it on your wayin here, of an officer charging a
guy who's trespassing and he'd arrested himbecause he wasn't obeying the order of staying
off this property. But he gothit with a cheeseburger and went to his

(01:08:20):
leg and he wrote him up forfelony assault. Have never done anything like
that, aggravated battery on law enforcementofficer. If you batter a law enforcement
officer, it is automatically a felonybecause they are a law enforcement officer.
Now, I don't think I wouldcharge someone with the fel Well, if
you charge him with the battery,it's going to be the felony. It's
never going to make it to court. They're going to pull it down immediately,

(01:08:42):
especially in that case, I doubt. But what's the closest thing to
a write up of somebody throwing acheeseburger and hitting you that you came across?
Remember the wide right ear when Miamibeat us, which time one of
the ones here in town Town.I was a two year FSU police officer

(01:09:04):
and number seventy nine. Mark Caesarwas a defensive end for the Miami Hurricanes.
Right before the field gold attempt,he was one that disrupted the option
where we were trying to score atouchdown. FS she was and he was
one that interrupted that play. Okay, prior to halftime there were FSU fans.
We were down on the sidelines beforewhen the chain link fence was down

(01:09:26):
there. It wasn't. It wasn't. There was nothing between the ball players
and the and the fans except justa little fence. And one of them,
Mark Caesar, was sitting there withthe defensive line, and he took
a cup of ice and he lookedover his shoulder and he threw the cup
of ice up into the stands andit hit me, and so not like

(01:09:47):
you remember it or anything, ithit me. And I went over and
I and I looked and I wastrying to figure out which one it was,
and all going seventy nine Caesar Caesarand I went over there and I
and I tapped him on the shoulder. That's what I wrote it up.
I tapped him on the show.I got his attention by touching him on
the shoulder. It's more of ayou know, hey, And he spun

(01:10:10):
around and shoved me. It's like, get off me, and so I
uh, And then the whole defensiveline stood up in my face. And
he was the smallest of him.But I don't know how many he was
gonna use, but I knew howmany he brought to the fight. And
I know how that goes on thesidelines, and laws are short of suspended
in athletic events sometimes, but technicallyit should have been a handcuffs right there

(01:10:33):
in the middle of the game. But I actually was not that stupid.
So I said, all right,I'll be back with you in a minute.
And so I called up my chainof command all right, said hey,
this person battered me football player, and they're like, ah, yeah,
whatever, and I said, no, no, seriously. One then
he came down and talked to meand says, yeah, you're not gonna
you can't charge him. I'm like, what do you mean, well,

(01:10:55):
you you We're not going to dothat, and I said, so I
went back over and standing every bythe fans and they're all like, well,
what about us, we got hitwith ice too? I said,
oh you did, really? Yes, would you fill out a sworn alf
of David saying that you were thevictim of battery? And they did,
and I only had, like,I can only find five sworn half of
David. There's like forty people sayingthey got hit with six pieces of ice.

(01:11:15):
I don't know how that must haveglanced around, and so they I
got some sworn alf of David's andI wanted to go. I said,
what do you go to do,so we're gonna arrest him. And my
chaining command was like, no,now, we'll, we'll, we'll,
we'll, we'll go in, We'llgo see him and talk to Because they
go in, they talk to himthat he's gonna come out and apologize,
and I want I'm not willing toaccept that, but you can't ask those

(01:11:40):
fans. And all we wanted charge. He got charged with five counts of
battery against the fans, but notthe felony against me. Had they let
me do what I wanted to do, which was arrest him at halftime,
that would have been then he wouldn'thave been in the game, would not
have interrupted that option, and thenwe may not have had to kick that

(01:12:00):
missed field goal. We may havewon. That would have sent USD to
the national championship. So if somebodywould just listen to me every once in
a while, we'd have another nationaltitle. See, I knew, I
knew what was going to happen, but they didn't want to listen to me.
Anyway, it made the national news. I've got the articles. Awesome.
I still have the letter of apologyhe had to sent me as part
of his plea agreement and apparently Englishwas not his one of his courses he

(01:12:27):
passed. I can tell you thatyou don't say yeah anyway. We're going
to get back to the personal offensepart of this segment. Charlie Strickland with
me of the Talent Trading Group onthe morch Oh with Preston Scott almost twenty
two minutes past the hour. Personaldefense segment. Charlie Strickland of the talent

(01:12:48):
training group talentrange dot com and ofcourse co host of Talent Outdoors. You
can hear a weekends on Saturday atten am Eastern. Charlie, you sent
me a story here, and aslisteners know, I look at stories and
I believe that almost any one ofthese things can offer us an opportunity to

(01:13:11):
learn something. And this particular storycaught your eye. Going to leave the
name of the loser out of itthat was in the middle of this,
but the headline New Jersey marine arrestedafter allegedly making threats to kill white people,
began planning mass shooting. What stoodout to you about this story,
Well, it won it's a militaryguy. He's not old enough to have
served in combat, so it's notPTSD or anything like that. This is

(01:13:34):
a young marine starting out. Hemade threats, and it wasn't He's a
black guy making threats to kill whitepeople based on the fact that it's a
racial issue. He's basically lashing out. But that's not what stood out to
me. What stood out was inthe article when I read it, was

(01:13:58):
that. And he had been postingon some social media saying what he was
going to do for almost a yearplanning this, posting updates on how he's
going to do it, how tosmuggle guns in the New Jersey, how
to do this, how to dothat, and then he was in the
military, went to training. Nobodyvetted this, I mean nobody looked at

(01:14:18):
this. Apparently seems like that wouldbe enough to discipline somebody or not let
them in the military, or givethem the advanced firearms training. And all
the military people get military training. They got so somebody dropped the ball there,
So let's train this person who's spoutingoff about how dangerous they can be.
And then what really got me waswhen he I'm looking in there and

(01:14:41):
he had been scouting locations and hehad picked the location. He never said
where it was. He said,I've picked a location. I've scouted it
and I'm pretty sure nobody has gunsthere. So he went out. This
is his mindset. This is themindset of a predator. He's going out
and looking for places he knows isa soft target where no one will fight

(01:15:03):
back, no one's going to presentany sort of resistance, and that's where
he's going to go. The factthat there are no guns there, and
we talk about, oh, wedon't want guns here, and we don't
want guns there. Wells specifically, where that these people are planning to go
to is where they know they're notgoing to run into these types of situations.

(01:15:23):
You notice in states where we've armedpeople in the schools, guardians,
law enforcement, we've mandated in Floridanow we've mandated based on how many people
are in the school, how manylaw enforcement or guardian type people, armed
people have to be there in orderfor school to go on. Is it
a ratio? I think there is. There's a base, maybe something to

(01:15:45):
do with the funding. I'm notthat familiar with it. I know there
was a discussion the other day aboutthis somewhere. But the fact is is
that we've got armed people in theschools now and you don't hear as much
about school shootings in these areas. When we have these people there, it
is definitely a deterrent. My fearis that, well, we'll go a
while without any and then they'll say, well, we can back off that

(01:16:06):
a little bit. And I don'tthink that's a good idea. But you're
always looking for places to cut thelaw enforcements, cutting training, which is
the worst place to cut it you'vegot, but you know you don't want
to start cutting your armed security inthese places. So and there's no move
to do that here locally, Butas some of the state funding expires in

(01:16:26):
time, people are going to haveto start looking at their own pockets to
fund some of this. I'm afraiddown the road, and you know it's
certainly worth spending the money. Soin this case, I mean, that
guy actually went out and figured outwhere he could go. He was late,
and somebody was paying attention. Buthe's posting from twenty twenty two to
twenty twenty three, and he getsarrested in twenty twenty four, making these

(01:16:46):
threats and planning this the whole time. And you're telling me that nowhere along
the way did anybody go and lookinto it and do anything until it's crazy
to think given the reality that todaymost every employer that I know, one
of their background checks is social media. They go out and they look at
someone's social media and see what they'reall about. Yeah, are we that

(01:17:10):
desperate in our armed services now wherewe don't care? I don't know,
you know, he could have beendoing it under an alias on social media
and maybe they finally connected the dotsor something. Maybe that I don't know.
I don't know enough about that case, but I can tell you that
when I'm hiring and I you know, I have an armed security company.
When I hire somebody, I golook at their social media and I and

(01:17:31):
I watch what they say. Youknow, if they say something that makes
the company look bad or indicate somelack of balance and they're not working for
me, you know, they gothey go do that somewhere else, sure,
because you know, you have tovet your own people. But what
you say matters, because social mediais a place in this day and age.
People don't realize it, but they'rethey're they're showing their soul to the

(01:17:56):
world on social media. The stuffyou post online, that's who you really
are. I mean you wouldn't dothat in public. You wouldn't say the
things in public that you would sayon social media. People can say it
and they don't feel like there areany consequences to that. Now we know
that there are. We know thatwhat we say the world sees and they
see right through us to who wereally are. But that, you know,

(01:18:19):
that's he's talking about a year anda half, two years he's wanting
to go do this stuff, andnobody did anything that whole see something,
say something deal sounds kind of corny, man, somebody you see that,
You've got to let somebody know.I mean, that's yeah, that's what
happened. Have he had it goingout, shot up a place and killed
a bunch of people and everybody say, oh, he's a nice guy.

(01:18:39):
I never would have realized it.Oh except for all these social media posts
I've been seeing for two years.I suppose if you're a private business owner,
one of the lessons in all ofthis is they still target gun for
his own So if you're one ofthose, don't promote it. That's for
sure. Twenty eight past the hour, It's the Morning Show. Preston Scott

(01:19:00):
on News Radio one hundred point sevenDouble UFLA or on NewsRadio Double UFLA Panama
City dot Com thirty six minutes past. It is Wednesday. In the morning
show, Charlie Strickland of the TalentTraining Group with Me Personal Defense talk about

(01:19:23):
some of the stories of the news. Another story that you flagged is,
and it has been in the news, is the body camera now is out
showing the shooting of a airman byFlorida deputy in an apartment doorway Fort Walton
Beach. What stood out to you, Well, obviously this is a tragedy
for the family of the deceased, for the deceased, his girlfriend, and

(01:19:46):
the deputy involved in the Shares's officeover there, and the community. I
mean is there's nothing good about this. There's nothing good about this. There's
not a silver lining in this atall. Wrong, did anybody? Uh?
I think? Well, based onwhich we know understand, I'm extremely
law enforcement friendly. Of course,in law enforce I'm still a cop.

(01:20:10):
I'm a law enforcement trainer, havebeen most of all of my career.
I think the deputy messed up ina big way. I think he was
wrong, but I still don't knowall the details. So I'm withholding some
judgment on this, But based onall of the scenarios that I've been through
and all of the real life experiencethat I have, I think that he

(01:20:30):
he reacted poorly set the scene becausefor people, a lot of people don't
know this story. Okay, Sothe Sheriff's office in Oaklus County responds to
a complaint of a disturbance of somesort at an address. There's some people
say the guy went to the wrongaddress and the Sheriff's the sheriff is maintaining

(01:20:50):
he did not go to the wrongaddress. But the information given to the
sheriff's office sometimes they call in thedispatch and that there's a disturbance. It's
in an apartment, an apartment complexwhere you got multiple rooms and multiple doors
and multiple floors and all this kindof stuff. And so you know,
a lot of times the information thatwe get is wrong. But the deputy
is responding to the location that hewas sent to based on some sort of

(01:21:12):
a disturbance there, and we don'tknow what that and so without knowing all
that information, in the frame ofmind he was in. But there's a
difference between there's shots fired an apartmenttoo, and a woman screaming for help,
and whether somebody arguing an apartment tooor somewhere on the second floor.
I mean, there's a lot ofdifferent things you could have going into that.
So until we know what that callwas, it's kind of hard to

(01:21:35):
judge. But at the same time, no matter how what kind of information
you have, and the fact thatthere weren't three or four officers there means
that it probably wasn't shots fired. It was probably an argument and a routine
deal. The deputy goes up toan apartment door and this is on body
camera, and he knocks on thedoor, boom, boom, boom,

(01:21:58):
backs up a couple steps, pauses, knocks on the door, sheriff's office,
open the door, something like that, Sheriff's office. He announces,
and then he switches sides to thedoor, stays out of the peep hole
where you can't see who it is, which is a law enforcement's officer safety
issue. We don't stand in frontof the door. Absolutely. He knocks
on it again. Somebody comes tothe door. It's a twenty three year

(01:22:21):
old black kid, an airman, military guy, reputable kid. You know,
he appears to be clean cut,he's a military guy. He works
at Hurbert Field and the Special OperationsDivisions and the Air Force. You know
there's a lot of military in thisarea. The kid opens the door and
we then split seconds the deputy. The deputy says step back, and then

(01:22:46):
boom boom, boom, boom boom. Kid gets shot six times. Now
in the video you see the kidanswers the door with a gun in his
right hand, but it's down byhis leg and the deputy didn't see that.
Based on mya of his body languageand his voice, he didn't see
it initially, but when he didsee it, the gun was never brought
up, was never presented to thedeputy, never pointed at him. I

(01:23:09):
didn't see any furtive movements or anythreatening behavior on behalf of the kid.
The deputy saw a gun and shothim. Pause right there, because there
are tons of questions to be asked. We're gonna keep talking about this more
with Charlie Strickland of the Talent TrainingGroup on the Morning Show with Preston Scott.

(01:23:30):
It's the Morning Show with Preston Scott. Forty one minutes past. Charlie
Strickland with me, we're talking abouta shooting of an airman in Oklalusa County
for Fort Walton Beach area. Andwe're gonna pause right there, and I'm
gonna ask the question at that moment, the interaction between the young man and

(01:23:56):
the airman and the sheriff's deputy. The airmen legally had every right to have
a firearm in his hand inside hishome. So you got to look at
it from the airman's perspective. Okay, So he's in there, he's on
FaceTime with this girlfriend. She sawall of this happen, she heard it.
She was still on the phone. So there's a witness outside of the

(01:24:17):
body camera footage. Now, Sohe's in there. We don't know if
he heard the deputy say sheriff's officeor shriffs any of it. He could
be he could have had it turnedup. He could have been in the
back room and just hurt thump, thump, thump on the top of it
in front of the room. Idon't know that kind of neighborhood they live
in. But you have every rightto answer your door anytime you want to

(01:24:41):
and your private residence with a gunin your hand. Don't point it at
anybody that's aggravated us, all ofcourse, But to have a gun in
your hand is perfectly legal, justifiable, and reasonable depending on the circumstances.
If you don't know who who's atyour door. I mean JD and I
were talking about this on our show. We answer the door with a gun
in our hand. If if youknock on my door, I'm either gonna
I'm either gonna put my gun inmy hoster on so I have access to

(01:25:03):
it, or it's gonna be inmy hand. That's normal. That's normal
for law abiding people to do that. I mean, you know, maybe
not normal for everybody, but yeah, it happens, and it's lawful and
it's and it's perfectly legal and reasonable. And so just because I have a
gun in my hand doesn't mean thatyou can shoot me. Now, if
I point the gun at you, that's a different store. Absolutely, it

(01:25:24):
is. So from the kid's perspective, he's going to the door to an
unknown somebody thumping on the door prettyassertively, okay, and he wants to
know who it is. He doesn'tshow the gun, he just holds it
down behind his thigh and he's gothis body bladed. But when the deputy
says step back, and he movedthe gun became exposed, but it was

(01:25:46):
still down in a non threatening manner, down by his leg, and the
deputy didn't didn't take a step tocover, to use the doorjam as cover,
point the gun at him and godrop the gun, drop the gun
or anything like that. He justwent bam bam, bam, bam,
bam bam. So the deputy didnot have his gun drawn from his holster
until he saw the fire. Isaw the gun, drew the pistol,

(01:26:09):
and the kid put his left handup like palm out like wait. You
know, he put his hand uplike hey, and held his hand up,
and he had the other one downby his leg. And there was
no time for him to react orto step out of the way or drop
the gun. I mean, ithappened so fast. You know. He
opened the door and saw a uniform. He was surprised, it seems,

(01:26:30):
from what I can tell. Sothere is virtually no verbal exchange. Zero.
He said step back, you know, when he opened the door and
goes step back, because the deputy'sresponding. Now from the deputy's perspective,
he goes there and say there's adisturbance going on. The guy opens the
door. After several times him knocking, the guy comes to the door,
opens the door, and he goesstep back so he can see what's going

(01:26:51):
on in the apartment, which hehas no authority to tell the man to
step back in his own apartment unlessthere's some life in danger, and he
doesn't have I don't know that hehad that in from so he says step
back, and that's when he sawthe gun and engaged. There was there
was zebra. And here's where theissue comes into play. Was a deputy

(01:27:12):
justified I don't think so. Ithink he's in a world of trouble.
I think the agency is fixing thepayout as much as they can legally,
and then the legislature is going tohave to fund some you know, approve
some some more funding. This isgoing to be Ben Crump involved in it
and all this stuff. It's goingto be a big deal. I think
one of the biggest things is goingto go back to law enforcement training.
They're going to pull his training recordsand you say, how much situational based

(01:27:35):
training, how much reality based training, how much force on enforced training,
Because that's the only way to solvethis problem is to put your people through
that type of training, because that'show you You can train your way out
of this, but you can't policyyour way out of this. You sue
your way out of it. Andthere are so many lessons on this one,
not just for law enforcement, butlessons for everybody about the importance of

(01:28:00):
situational training. Well, and don'tthink it couldn't happen at your house or
my house. Tomorrow somebody law enforcement'sgoing to go to the house to knock
on the door and ask questions ifthere's something going on in the neighborhood.
They're gonna they might go to thewrong house. It happens all the time,
so and you might answer the door, would have gun in your hand,
and then that could be you orme. And so we all have

(01:28:21):
a vested interested in this. Sowhen training is not funded very well,
we've got to do something statewide, especially in smaller agencies, to start making
a difference. Thanks for the time, Charlie Strickland with US Talent Training Group.
Remember talentrange dot com. Get yourtraining there and head out to the
range. Do some training yourself.Forty seven passed the out lessons to learn

(01:29:08):
if you're willing to learn man, crazy crazy stuff. Still talking to Charlie
before we started this segment here tomorrowon the program, Steve Stewart Jimmy petronas
State CFO, said, he sentme a note almost right after the storms

(01:29:32):
came through last week. He said, happy to come on to help people
to keep from getting ripped off, because now it starts everybody coming in.
It's already started. I'm sure stormsand this will serve as not just help
for those that were damaged in thein the region, but upcoming storm season.

(01:29:58):
Some things to know to not getripped off. You know, these
types of events bring out the bestin people and the worst in people.
There are some unscrupulous, unscrupulous businessmenand women out there that just want to
take advantage and they will. Sowe'll talk with the CFO about that today

(01:30:21):

you can give a whole lot morethan that, and the money goes to
the local Humane Society. And I'mall about stuff like that. So if
