It was reported this morning that 40 test monkeys escaped from the Alpha Genesis facility near Yemasee, South Carolina. The company works with monkeys to conduct clinical trials, including treatments for brain disease disorder. People were warned not to interact with the primates, but they were emphasized that there was no danger to the public. There is always the fear that we as a nation would be the victims of biological warfare and how easy it would be to carry it out by some accidental release of monkeys infected with an “unknown” pathogen. From a metaphorical perspective, a segment of the American population can be seen as breaking free from the restricting confines of the “New Normal” as we enter a familiar era of political change.
