Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hayleabury Rendel's School is set to present a production of
The Adams Family, a new musical. Now it is going
to be frightfully fun as the world's kookiest family takes
the stage in a wickedly funny show that's packed with
out rageous comedy. Toe tapping tunes is what I'm told,

(00:21):
and a heartwarming story about love, family and embracing what
makes us unique. And the best part, well, We're going
to be seeing some of the territory's most talented school
students starring in the show, and I'm very excited to
say that I've got them in the studio with me
this morning. Let me introduce you all. Maho Hatch, who's

(00:43):
going to be Gomez Adams. Good morning to you, Lovely
to have you in the studio. I've got Alia Thomas.
Did I pronounce that correctly? Alia? I'm sorry, Ali, lovely
to have you in the studio. And then I've got well,
I've got Lisa Aunwin as well as I'm just trying

(01:03):
to find everybody's names. Amelia Worse. Good morning to you both.
It is wonderful to have you all in the studio.
Now let me just let me run through who everybody's
playing in this performance? Now, what about if you guys
talked me through it? Amelia, who are you going to
be in the performance?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
I'm playing Wednesday Adams.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Wednesday Adams. Oh, that sounds like it's going to be
a lot of fun, right, And what about you, Alyssa,
I'm playing more Titia Adams, more Titsha. Now, Alia, you
are Grandma Adams? Is that correct?

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (01:38):
That's it now? And obviously Mahu Gomez Adams.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
How long have you guys been practicing?

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Six months?

Speaker 3 (01:47):
I'd say six months.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Since the start of term two, so we're in week
eight of term three at the moment, so it's been
a journey.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
It would have been a journey. Now, tell me a
little bit more about the show and what people can expect.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
I think they can definitely expect lots of singing and
lots of dancing. Yeah, we summon our ancestors in the
opening number, so expect lots of dead people for two hours.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
It's really it's like the original Adam's Family, but it
is also quite different because it's a different plot. You've
got the same characters that people might recognize. So if
you've seen the original, when like the original, but the
new Wednesday series, same characters, different plots. So it's something
that anyone who has no experience with musicals or even

(02:31):
the plot at all can come in and enjoy.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
So it sounds like it'll be a lot of fun. Now,
how many students are involved in this production?

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Probably around I'd say ninety students. Wow, So we've got
quite a lot of help.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Yeah, end of all ages. I'm assuming all great year
five to year twelve. Yeah, year five to year twelve.
And I'm assuming not everybody sort of on stage as well.
You've got lots of help behind the scenes.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
We have lots of backstage care helping us out from
behind the scenes, and we have singers who are going
to be in the backstage who are gonna help us
give us some supporting vocals.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Now, what kind of hours have you been putting into rehearsals?
Lots of work.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
Yeah, so we do two days during the week, So
we do an hour and a half on Mondays, an
hour and a half on Thursdays after school, and then Sundays.
It's varied a bit, but it's ranged from about three
to four hours. This Saturday it's our first five hours.
So yeah, it's been great work, but a lunchtime as well.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Yeah, a lot of work, but I'm assuming that you
guys absolutely love it. Do you love getting up on
such and having it go? I came and saw one
of the Halabree performances. I reckon it was high school musical?

Speaker 4 (03:49):
Did you do that?

Speaker 1 (03:50):
So I've actually seen some of you in action, and
you are fantastically talented young performers. And I think it's
such a huge thing for young people to get up
on a stage, to get out of your comfort zone
and perform, not only for everybody is school, but for
anybody that wants to come along and watch. Is it
a bit of a thrill? Do you enjoy it?

Speaker 4 (04:10):
I do?

Speaker 1 (04:11):
You love getting up there and getting to sort of
be somebody else for a while.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
It's the best feeling. Is amazing.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
I think we're definitely adrenaline junkie ye to be able to, like,
you know, sing and dance and act and like have
all those eyes on you. There's quite a number of
seats in the playhouse, so I think we all just
love it. We love the attention as well.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
I love it, and I love saying young people do
really great stuff. So I think it's incredible that you're
all doing that and the added you know, like all
those rehearsal hours as well, to do something outside of
your regular school work to put on for the community. Now,
when is it on? When can people come and watch?

Speaker 5 (04:50):
It?

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Is next week on Friday and Saturday. So we have
one show on Friday from seven o'clock seven pm, and
then on Saturday we have one on the aft N
at one pm and then another one on the same
day at seven pm. Three shows.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
And there are still tickets available. Where can you purchase
those tickets?

Speaker 3 (05:09):
You can purchase them at the Dowin Entertainment Center site
or what's A and T Yeah, yep and and.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah jump online. You'll be able to find all the
details on there. Now we're gonna hear a bit of
a taste of what's in store, aren't we. Are you
guys ready? Now, let's hope I can get this backing
music playing properly, and we will. We'll hear a little
bit more about We'll hear a little bit more of
what we're going to hear on the show. Let's do

(05:36):
it all right?

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Three?

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Two, one oh? Hang on, let me make sure I've
got it playing.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
Ah, the indox are getting smell of the graveyard. Once
a year we gather to honor the great cycle of life,
and dear, come every member of our clan, living and undecided,
and let us celebrate what it is to be an atoms.

(06:09):
When you're an atoms, you need to have a little moonlight.
When you're an atoms, you need to feel a little chill.
You have to see the world in shades of great.
You have to put some boys on in your day.

Speaker 3 (06:31):

of humor more. When you're an atoms, you taste for death.

Speaker 5 (06:42):
Who cares about the wild outside and what it wants
from you?

Speaker 3 (06:47):
When you're an atom due to what atoms always do.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
When you're an.

Have a lot of passion.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
When you're in atoms, do you need to really love
your wife?

Speaker 4 (07:07):
You're happy when you're toes are in the mud.

Speaker 5 (07:12):
You smile abit the moment you smell blood.

Speaker 2 (07:16):

they did that, and we were having some tech issues
as well where they couldn't actually hear the backing music
in the way that they ordinarily would. You guys are
so great. That was wonderful.
