Speaker 1 (00:00):
Op and back.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Well, the backlash against yesterday star started all female spaceflight
has intensified overnight, with more celebs slamming the event.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Yeah for more, we're joined by entertainment editor Peter Ford
in studio Pete Gail King has responded to the hate.
She of course went up.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Yeah, well, she went up.

Speaker 4 (00:16):
And I can't think of a publicity stunt that has
kind of backfired or had as much backlash as this
one has.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Did it backfire? I'm not sure.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
I Mean, the message certainly got out there that they
went to space and they've landed back safely, So I
guess that was the big takeaway that Jeff Bezos wanted
to get out there. But for the individuals involved, they've
certainly become a lot of people pointing to Gayl how
unhappy she looks, and she rings that bell and she's
walking on board and so Yeah, there's been so much

(00:45):
backlash from people basically saying it it's not historic. Stop
saying that this is not a breakthrough for women. Women
have been astronauts and cosmonauts for forty years. In fact,
there's a great book, if you ever get a chance
to read it, called The Six Her Six Women chosen
by NASA and what their outcomes were, some good and
some bad, but anyway, so it's all out there, a

(01:07):
lot of negative stuff, and Gaile obviously felt a need
to address this, And to be honest, I'm disappointed in
Gaile inasmuch as because she's a great broadcaster and eloquent,
you would think she would be able to justify or
explain what this was meant to achieve. But she's not
able to do that, which I think probably answers the question.

(01:28):
But this is Gaile King talking about the backlash.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
This is what bothers me because I've certainly read some
of the things online coming from people that I know
that I like, that I consider friends. Because you do
something in space doesn't mean you're taking anything away from Earth,
And what you're doing in space is trying to make
things better here on Earth. What Blue Origin wants to
do is take the waste here and figure out a
way to put it in space to make our planet cleaner.
There was nothing frivolous about what we did, so you know,

(01:55):
I'm very disappointed and very sadden by it. And I
also say this, what is doing to an inspire other
women and young girls. Please don't ignore that. I've had
so many women and young girls reach out to me,
and men too. By the way, men Toole'd say, wow,
I never thought I could do that, but I see
you doing it at this stage of my life.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
What funck it not me?

Speaker 4 (02:14):
So, yes, she certainly is putting it pretty bluntly there.
I mean, I might add she was carrying a Sesame
Doll Street doll onto the flight, so I mean there
were elements of it that were kind of frivolous.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
So for promotional purposes, for.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
She wanted her grandson gave it to her to take
to something like that.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Yeah, but anyway, look, it is what it is.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
It's a meme machine exactly. Prince Hary has spoken for
the first time about wife Meghan's lifestyle brand he has
and he.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Is appalled by it. Actually, no, he's not. He is
fully endorsing it all.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
He gave an interview last week to People magazine about
his security arrangements, and I think at the time they
also got quotes from him about Meghan's business and so
basically they run that today as an exclusive and in
it he is saying he is absolutely incredibly proud.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
For achievements He backs her all the way, all of.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
The things that you would expect a devoted husband to say,
and very much. You know that, we can't deny it.
The business got off to a great start. Every product
sold out in the space of an hour. So that's
a very very good launch pad.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Really is Okay, we've been given our first look at
the third season of and just like that, which is
The Sex and the City.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Yeah, reboot, reimagining whatever they call it. And look, I
think there's one big takeaway that will show you a
little bit of the trailer for it. May twenty eight,
it drops, so still a few weeks away, but I
think you'll see Aaron's back. That does that excite you?
Aaron's come back. Take a look at a little of

(03:46):
the trailer. So I mean you looked at me blankly
when I said Aaron's back. That's a big takeaway.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Your excuse for Aiden's name?

Speaker 1 (04:00):
They've all forgotten him too. That looks terrific. Can I
ask a question?

Speaker 2 (04:03):
What time does the moose coverage?

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Will see a bit later
