Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, Katie Perry and Orlando Bloom have officially confirmed their
separation in a joint state. Yeah, let's get some more.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Our entertainment editor Peterfords with us. Pete, you're in Auckland today.
What can you tell you?
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Well, it's interesting they haven't used the words split or separation.
What they have released is the fact that they have
they're shifting their relationship and have.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Been doing so over the past many months.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
So that would clearly indicate that even before the Australian
two of them began, they had split up. Now they
will continue to be seen together as a family. It's
all about looking after Daisy, who's four and a half
years old, which is what I thought that visit to Perth.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Last week was when Orlando flew in.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
So I imagine by releasing this statement, even though you know,
as I say, it doesn't mention separation, it doesn't say
the engagements off. It's sort of shades of conscious uncomfling,
isn't it. But honestly, I think that probably is about
trying to take some of the pressure off both of
them now because everything they do, everything they don't do.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Every time they go to a restaurant with someone.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
It's going to become a story because of the ongoing
speculation of ah they or aren't they?
Speaker 2 (01:08):
So now we.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Officially know that as a couple they are no longer together,
but still together as a family with Daisy Pete.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
The heartbreaking final storyline for one of Home and Alway's
most of the loved characters, it's been revealed.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Yeah, this is going to be quite extraordinary, I think,
because it's in many ways it's an uncomfortable subject. But
Lynn's character of Irene is going to be leaving the
show with a storyline that involves her being diagnosed with dementia.
Now we don't know whether that will be precisely Alzheimer's.
They haven't actually said that in the release, but it's
a brave thing to do. We all know Lynn, and
(01:47):
she's such fun and be very easy to have a
jolly happy exit for her.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
But she wanted this and she's been very clear.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
She went to the script writers and said what about this,
and they have agreed to do it. Because Alzheimer's and
dementia is horrible. If you've had to have first hand
experience with it, you know, it's not.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Like mother and Son.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
You know, it's not funny like that at all, and
I'm told the storyline over the next few months is
a pretty brutal one.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Now.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
When Lynn was with you a couple of weeks ago,
she obviously knew because she's filmed the scenes, but she
was being very coy about it.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
This is what she said to you.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
I am very excited for people to see this storyline
because I don't think it's anything that's ever been done before,
certainly not in Summer Bay that I'm aware of and
only touched on in perhaps other shows. It's very relevant
and it's very very pertinent to our lives now as
(02:42):
we get older, and I'm just excited for people to
come on the journey with me.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
And I know that everybody was in agreeance with Lynn
that if we're doing this, we do it honestly and
we do it responsibly, even though at times it's going
to be uncomfortable.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
So that will unfold in the coming months. We must
see TV there, Pete. A story that's captivated the world.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Aaron Patterson's mushroom murder trial is being turned into a
local series yet.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Yes, so the ABC in Australia have got this series
and it was actually announced out of the United States.
The series is called Toxic and it is the story
of Aaron Patterson and the ongoing trial which is on
now we have no outcome, and of course Aaron Pattners
always pled not guilty and said the whole thing was
a tragic accident. So it's going to be fascinating to
(03:29):
see how they do this because obviously it's in pre production.
Scripts are written even though we don't have that final outcome. Now,
what they are going to do is look at the
story from the perspectives of all the various people involved
and their memories and their claims. Now, a man called
Tony Ayres is behind it, and he's worked with some
of the great leading ladies of Australian cinema and TV.
(03:53):
So I reckon all of them will have their hands
up saying choose me, choose me for this role. I'm
talking about about people like Martin Dusseldorp, Kate Lanchette, Rebecca Gibney.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
He did want it. With Rebecca, I reckons she'll have
to pause.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Out trying to get that script because it's going to
be an extraordinary role. So it'll obviously get international sales
because this story has had international interest.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
So coming to the ABC.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Okay, the stars are coming out at Wimbledon.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Team yes, so this is extraordinary.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
We're going to have a lot of this over the
next couple of months because Wimbledon is the place to be.
We've got two more weeks of the star spotting there.
So some of the people who've seen so far include
Russell Crowe. You can see him there having a lovely time.
Coming up after that, we've got Kate Flanchett and Rebel
Wilson together. They look quite the duo, don't They're having
a lovely time. David Beckham of course a regular always
(04:48):
at Wimbledon. Olivia Rodriguan was there and of course one
of the really hot couples of the world, Prianco Chopra
and Nick Jonas. So in the weeks ahead there'll be many,
many more pictures to share from Wimbledon this year.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Kate, thank you, Pete
