Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, the man who assaulted Ariana Grande at the Wicked
premiere in Singapore is set to face court to day.
Let's get some more his our entertainment at lapeter Ford
High Pete.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
What has he been charged with?

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Yes, well, he was charged with public nuisance. That happened
on Friday. This of course was after the opening of
Wicked in Singapore. Where as we saw in that very
dramatic vision where he broke through the barriers, he lunged
at Ariana. Cynthia, she should put on her calling card actress, singer, dancer, bodyguard.
She was fantastic the way she jumped in there and

(00:33):
tried to help the situation. He was carted off. He
got on to social media. I guess we have to
give him a name. I'm reluctant to use it. Johnson.
When is his name? And he was boasting on Friday
about how he'd walked free and how happy he was,
and this is I'm going to see this clip before
the event, and even the fact that he talks about
going to see his friend Ariana gives me the creeps.

(00:55):
You know, like that movie The King of Comedy with
Jerry lewis all about people being upset with celebrities. This
is Johnson when.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
Yes, finally I dreamed about meeting Ariana Grande and finally
my dream came true.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Yeah. So, look, he's got more past form than Makaibee Deaver.
I mean, he's always out there, just recently a few
months back in Sydney, the Katy Perry concert, the Weekend,
the Chainsmokers, the Olympics last year. This is his thing,
this is how it gets his kicks. And then he
posted up to social media. So today he is appearing
in court in Singapore. I'm surprised the penalties are as

(01:38):
low as they are. Singapore's takes public nuisance very seriously.
Law and order is paramount so that the maximum fine
is only about two and a half thousand dollars. There
is also the potential of three months jail time, so
we'll see what he gets. But really it's not a
punishment because you know, basically he'll post more stuff on
social media. Closing those accounts would certainly stop him. But

(02:01):
here's the other thing everyone's forgetting as well, about his
supposed friend, Ariana. That poor young woman eight years ago
the Manchester bombing at her concert. Twenty two people were killed.
Dozens of people injured. So yeah, if you think she
gets scared easily, you're probably right. But she's got a
pretty good excuse.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Hey, there's a new development this morning in Donald Trump's
battle against the BBC, the Bridge broadcaster. What's happened?

Speaker 3 (02:26):
So on Friday morning we talked about the fact that
the chair of the BBC had sent a letter to
President Trump basically offering regret. They certainly were not showing
any indication of the intent. Look, as I said Friday,
it wasn't grovelly enough for a start. Every word in
that letter, of course, would have been cleared by a
very extensive legal team. So I said that I don't

(02:49):
think this is going to appease the President, and it
hasn't now. In fact, he's saying not one billion, about
five to seven billion dollars. He now wants the BBC
to pay up. And of course, now what they have
is another example apart from Newsnight, they now apart from Panorama,
they now have Newsnight where they've done something very similar.

(03:10):
So if it did get to court, it'd show a
pattern of behavior. Now most people think it's a very
wonky defamation case. If he does want to proceed because
he's missed the boat in the UK. Anyway, he can't
go through the UK courts. It's too late and it
was never shown in America. So if he sues in
an American court, they're going to argue, well, we didn't
air it in America and it's goo blocked from people

(03:31):
watching it. So in this grab I'll show you with
President Trump done for gb News, who interestingly have become
like a rival to the BBC. He indicates that he
really has no choice but to proceed with this.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
I don't think I have an obligation to do.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
This was so egregious.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
If you don't do it, you don't stop it from
happening again with other people.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
I think you probably have an obligation. I'd like to
find out why they did it.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
You know, it's so bad.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
So look, even if he does and have a solid case,
you'd still need it to go away because just the
nuisance and the cost involved in running this through the
court system. If he's like a dog with a bone
and won't let go, they have a problem, and every
day it continues to damage the BBC's credibility.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
Yeah, and as we always say here on the Morning Show,
what can you do with seven billion that you can't
do with five billion.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Right, Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Kate Blanchett met Leo over the weekend.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Yeah, so this was this gathering of Hollywood types who
were there invited to go to the Vatican and participate
in a forum with Pope Leo, and Kate was one
of those people, and she presented him with a bracelet
and we explain what that bracelet was about. Kate's not
a Catholic by the way. In fact she went to
the Methodist Ladies College here in Melbourne before going to
Melbourne UNI. But you didn't have to be Catholic. That

(04:46):
wasn't part of the deal. It was just significant players.
So in this grab I will show you where Kate
explains the significance of that small, simple bracelet. One of
her major things that she likes to get involved with
and help out with is with the United Nations refugees
and displaced people. This is Kate Blanchett at the Vatican.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
They work with you in HCR, the Ewan Refugee Agency,
and it was a bracelet that was I wearing solidarity
with people who were displaced. We've developed a fund for
displaced filmmakers for refugee filmmakers, because those voices often get
marginalized from the mainstream. So to be able to mention
that to His Holiness today was really wonderful.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
What a great thrill to be there in the presence
of the Holy Father for all of those Hollywood players.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
Yeah, I love it.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Especially to hear the word Kate Blanchet and Leo together.
You automately think way out of the caprio doing in
the Vatican. But it was the Pope Leo, Britney Spears
and the Kardashians had fun. I had a fun get together,
a pajama party, wasn't it.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Well it sounds like, yeah, look, it's nice to see
Britney getting out in the bout. She certainly her presence
is felt, but normally just her solo dancing around. But
it's good to see her mixing. So she had dinner
with the Kardashians. We don't know whether the cameras are rolling.
I strongly suspect they were, but they have given us
this little teaser of how the night played out.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Oh, we're just chewing in our geriatric bed.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Yea dead vibrates, What the what.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
The baby do?

Speaker 4 (06:28):
Cheer? Three three four by Ships.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Okay, split split, good old fashioned dinner party at home.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
You can't beat that slumber party, Peter, Slumber dinner parties
where you're sitting around the tack of ball. Dinner parties
end up in a vibrating bed CARDI well, he's said
dinner party. I was correcting it to slumber party. Did
they grow up together? Did they? Were they? They grow
up in the Hollywood together.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
I don't have any recollection of them nexting in that way,
But you know, the TV cameras bring people together.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Okay, if you could do it a slightly deeper dive
on that, Thank you. We'll talk to you soon.
