Speaker 1 (00:00):
What Shawn Diddy Colmes is back in court today is
a New York judge his arguments to help determine how
long the disgrace musician will spend in jail. Let's catch
up on this. Entertainment editor Peter Fort's with his high peete.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
What's the latest on this? Yes, so his sentencing is
just over a week from now, So this is kind
of a last ditch effort to try and let him
walk free next week, as bizarre as that might sound.
So for those who haven't kept up with it, there
were five chargers. Three of them he was acquitted on.
Two of them he was convicted of. They were the
more less serious charges related to prostitution. So what they're
(00:36):
now gone in and argued is that he never should
have been convicted on those charges because what he was
doing was not sex trafficking. It was voyeurism. He was
bringing these people across the border to attend his free
cough parties because he was doing it purely for his
own pleasure and enjoyment. It was not a commercial money
making exercise. Now, whether that's going to wash or not,
(00:59):
we don't know. What they're also arguing his defense team
is that he should be given a fourteen month sentence,
and why they've gone for four day months is because
he's been in jail for almost fourteen months now. So
basically that would meet if it was time served, he
would walk next week. That's not going to please a
lot of people, obviously, it's going to be a lot
(01:21):
of effort for a minimal return. But that is the
potential that could play out next week.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Okay, we'll wait and see The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,
otherwise known as Megan and Harry of a big project
on the horizon. What's that.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Well, they're off to New York because they are getting
an award there. They do have this remarkable ability to
find awards that no one's ever heard of and go
up and collect them. So this one I'm going to
tell you is happening, and it's related to Project Healthy Minds.
I'm sure they're terrific and they're receiving the Humanitarians of
(01:53):
the Year award. Now this is largely to do with
their work on a whole bunch of endeavors, but particularly
in the area of advising families and children and making
online a safer space. I think Whipper and his cohorts
might be doing a hell of a lot more than
Harry and Megana in that space, but that's what they're
(02:14):
getting it for. Specifically. They will also be tending a
World Mental Health Day festival. Now bear in mind, of course,
they're also getting this award for his work in the
area of mental health, but he's paid to do that.
He is the Chief Impact Officer of an organization called
Better Up, which is terrific. Not knocking it, but it's
an extremely profitable business. It's not a charity. They're not
(02:38):
doing it for nothing, and he is getting over a
million dollars a year to represent them, and now he
gets to collect an award as well. So there'll be
obviously arguments to and fro as to whether this is
deserving or not, but in terms of the organization, they're
thrilled about it. It's great publicity.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah, I don't think there'll be too many arguments about that.
Peak to you, Taylor Swift fans are losing their minds
this morning.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Yes, because Taylor Swift is going to be appearing on
the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon the other Jimmy, we
haven't been talking about him much and now, why look
at this because as you know, with Taylor, she likes
to offer Easter eggs, as she calls them, little clues
is to things. So take a look at this and
see if you can spot the Easter eggs.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Maybe that's show business for you.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Excuse me, honey, So you're a good detective, Carlie. What
did you pick up.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
There at the new album is Life of a Showgirls?
The show Girls Walking Car asked all of that, one
must be what did you think he is a gambler
that you kind of get through the show with you.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
I could only paid good, h
