Speaker 1 (00:00):
And welcome back. Donald Trump has demanded Beyonce and Oprah
be prosecuted of their twenty twenty four US presidential campaign involvement.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
This is an interesting entertainment term. Let's bring in Peter
Ford to get all the details. What's he claiming paid?

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Well, he's claiming something that we already knew, but he's
actually given whole higher figure attached to it. So what's
upset about a number of people, but most especially Beyonce
and Oprah for their involvement and what he says was
their endorsement of Kamala Harris last year. Now, I guess
what we're dealing with here is a fine line between

(00:36):
people getting money in return for their effort and they
put in or are they being paid to actually do
an endorsement. That's what it comes down to. Now, the
figures that he's quoting, he's quoting that there was three
million dollars paid to Oprah US and he's claiming there
were eleven million dollars paid to beyoncey. Now, as I say,
we did know both of those people were on the

(00:57):
receiving end of checks, but less than that amount. And
we were also told the money for Beyonce was strictly
to actually stage her mini concert. That's what the money
was for. And they are expensive things to set up.
I can't quite see that amount of money, but nonetheless
they are expensive to do. And with Oprah, we were
told the money was going to her production company to

(01:19):
stage the town hall meeting that she was in and
that she hosted. Now again, I would say three million
dollars sounds like there must have been some profit made
somewhere along the line. Maybe they're entitled to make a profit.
But he wants to prosecuted because, as he says, it's
illegal for people to be paid to offer their endorsements.
So part of me would like to see this end

(01:40):
up in a courtroom. Can you imagine Oprah's legal team
Beyonce's legal team.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
I'm just imagining the outfits for the Yeah, get wrong.
I didn't go to legal argument. I just thought, wow,
Beyonce striving into.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Here's hoping this happens.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Yeah, I kind of hope it does. It would be
great theater.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
We know you'd have to go there for it, as
I have legal correspondent, our fashion legal correspondent. Now, despite
Trump's wishes, business as usual for Beyonce pee yes.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Because you know, some people say that's all his diversionary
tactics anyway, So they clearly Oprah and Beyonce are clearly
not living in fear because they've just gone to the
last Cowboy Carter show in Los Angeles. It looks like
it was fantastic, you know, as you can see there
they're having the time of their lives. There's Chris Jenna's there,

(02:31):
Chloe Kardashians there, Gails jumping around or having a wonderful
time now. Of course, the big highlight for night turned
out to be the reunion of Destiny's Child first time
in seven years, where Kelly and Michelle got together with
Beyonce to put on a little mini show together. People
didn't know what was going to happen, and as you
can see here when it came to losing my breath,

(02:53):
pretty much the audience did that. Have a long yeah,

(03:16):
And just as the name said, they pretty much did
lose their breath when that happened.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
I think you're right, Colly, that's how she would walk
into court.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Social media is still going crazy. This is over Gwyneth
Troy's later stunt, as she responded a course to the
whole Kisscan thing.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Yeah, so it was fascinating that she did it as
fascinating that happened so quickly. Normally, when you're dealing with
a big name celebrity, it can take weeks or months
to negotiate a contract about how it's going to be done,
who's going to shoot it, how long you can show
it for. Clearly, this was pulled together very quickly, and
Gwyneth would have been in a very good negotiating position
because they clearly wanted her. I think the Chris Martin

(03:54):
aspect may have been part of why they wanted her
if you have missed out on seeing it. But here
is a little of what Gwyneth had to say as
the temporary spokesperson for Astronomer.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
Hi, I'm Gwyneth Paltrow. I've been hired on a very
temporary basis to speak on behalf of the three hundred
plus employee is it Astronomer. Astronomer has gotten a lot
of questions over the last few days and they wanted
me to answer the most common ones. Yes, Astronomer is
the best place to run a patche airflow unifying the

(04:28):
experience of running data mL and AI pipelines at scale.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
We've been thrilled.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
So many people have a newfound interest in data workflow automation.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
So you know, normally when corporations have a scanner going
and they just wanted to go away really quick. You know,
I don't give it any oxygen, but interesting decision here
to actually embrace it with humor and make it happen
very quickly. What was she paid? You know that she
got my question. Yeah, one point six million dollars she
got to just turn up at a Saudi Arabian film

(04:57):
festival one point one million last year from Swaf'swavski Shabrovsky
to simply wear some of their stuff four times during
the calendar year. So this would probably have been shot
in the course of an afternoon. I would think, my
ballpark figure, I'm going for five million for the afternoon's work.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Because and highly controvert, like she's really sticking her neck.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Out exactly funny Durian.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
No, no, no, it's no, it doesn't.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Oh that's five mill Wells. But yeah, another big screen
favorite is set for a sequel.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Yeah, bend It like Beckham to be rebooted, actually a sequel.
So obviously those characters we came to know and Kira
Nightlycus became a star overnight as a result of that.
And now the director has said, yeah, the sequel is
in the works. You won't be seeing it until twenty
twenty seven. It was hugely popular, of course, a massive

(05:54):
audience for it in India as well, and of course
what it did do is get a lot of girls
thing king you know what, I could go and play
soccer or football, so it's had that benefit as well.
So twenty twenty seven the sequel is on the way.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Good stuff. It was a great movie. Thanks hate well
great you lay that
