Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's got some entertainment news, and the MTV Video Music
Awards have just kicked off over York.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Yeah, let's bring in entertainment editor Payter Ford. Good morning
to you, Ricky Martin. I just took to the stage.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Yes, he certainly has and revisiting some of his most
familiar music. Now. The awards are taking place in Elmont,
New York, not quite in Manhattan, about half an hour out.
And certainly Ricky Martin has still got it. Obviously he's
still live in Lovina Loca.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Night.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
We're gonna and Lady Gaga picked up the award as
Artist of the Year, and this was actually given out
very early in proceedings. Normally it's one of those really
big awards. She saved till towards the end. But Lady
Gaga is actually on stage now at the Madison Square Garden,

(01:25):
so she was there to collect from Lanny Kravitz, then
did a quick dash back to get on stage for
her own show, but his she is Artist of the Year,
Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga, thank you little monster. It's my
fan for always supporting me and always supporting the monster

(01:50):
in me. And opening the show this year was Doja
Cat and she looked sensational actually doing her big current
hit called Jealous Type. So yeah, there she is there
looking great. So all in all, the VMA's going extremely well.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
All right, Pete. Now, pop singer JESSEJ has made an
emotional return to the stage after her recent battle with
breast cancer. She's got on quite an incredible show in
the UK this weekend.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
She did, and I wanted to show you this because
we've talked about her a lot over the last few
months and she shared so much ups and downs, good
days and bad days. So she did cancel a whole
bunch of shows, but she kept this one. It was
an outdoor concert put on by the VBC at a
place called Chalms for just about an hour out of London,
and she did a shorter set than she would normally do.

(02:35):
But for her to walk out on stage again and
to hear that roar from the fans and to feel
a lot of love, it must have been a special moment.
And she said something really profound. I thought, take a
look at JESSEJ.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
So this song is called living my Best Life, and
that is what I'm doing every single damn day because
we never know when our last day will be so
soak this up. Have the people you love hard. Yes,
I'm not mister telling you said tonight, what easiness. Finally there.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
And she said this, and I want to read it
to you because I think it's really special. And I
don't know if she stole it from someone else, but
if she did, good honor. She said, life is standing
in the storm, putting up for your umbrella and moving
forward and that's certainly what she's been doing since that
breast cancer diagnosis.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Okay, Pete, thank you so much. We'll come back to
you later in the show.
