Welcome Back, i fl and TV veteran Sam Newman has
opened up about his late wife on a podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Entertainment editor Peter Ford has more from Melbourne. Pete, this
was a rather dramatic piece of audio.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Yeah, look, it was an extraordinary thing. And I know
Sam Newman. He gets mixed reactions and Sam deliberately stirs
the pot quite a lot, but nobody would wish upon
him what he had to go through the day he
found his wife Amanda dead.

Speaker 4 (00:26):
That was just over four years ago, please to say.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Since then, Sam has found love again and he's very happy,
but clearly that day haunts him still, as you can imagine.
So he appeared on Trent Cootchin's podcast which is called
Shaped really good podcast look out for It, and he
does recall the day it happened, how it all started
really with just a bit of a joke that really
then became hideously true.

She was lying on the tiles and I rang tripolo.
It's a bit disconcerting seeing someone lying there who you
were married too, and knowing that she's dead, and pumping
her body for half an hour until the medics arrived.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
So you can imagine that it's a horrible thing that
he had to live through on that day.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Yeah, indeed, let's move on, Pete. And Prince Harry has
retraced his mother's steps.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yees, so almost literally walking in her footsteps. From nineteen
ninety seven when Princess Diana went to Angola, she was
involved with a charity called the Halo Trust and what
they did and what they still do, is they go
about trying to get rid of land mines that have
been planted in war zones and apparently like six thousand

people have been killed since two thousand and eight as
a result of these landmines that are just sitting there.
So obviously it's important now look at that as you
can see there that's back with Princess Diana and now
today with Prince Harry retracing his mum steps and trying
to raise awareness once again, and not without risk.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
I mean, there's saying that where he walked still has.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Active land mines and that's why he's wearing the flat jackets.
So you know, I think in this particular case, he's
doing something that is beyond criticism. It really is I
think obviously very emotional for him to go where his
mother has been before and very much to continue on
her work in raising awareness.

Rob Kardashian has opened up about retreating from the spotlight peint.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Yes, So he phoned into his sister Chloe's podcast and
he was asked about it.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Now, I guess a lot of us has wondered.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
It's very rare for people to turn their back on
TV fame, and particularly that's with the Kardashians. It's next
level because not only are you famous, you obviously can
earn a lot of money from endorsement deals. And he
just didn't want to have that in his life anymore.
And I think he felt it was only feeding into
his own insecurities that he already had. Rather than fame

making you bolder and stronger, he was finding it doing
it quite the opposite.

So here he is trying to explain it to his sister.

Speaker 6 (03:05):
I don't want to be filming and putting myself in
a position where I'm not comfortable, Like I'm not comfortable
in my skin, So why would I want to go
be on camera and just be vulnerable and.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Let like people in when I'm not.

Speaker 6 (03:17):
That's not what I.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
Want to do.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
So good on him for making that move and finding
his own sort of happiness away from a spotlight.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Yeah, you know, if he's serious, he's got to change
his surname.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Yeah, that's true, reself.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
The Obama's podcast dropped while we were on yesterday. Some
more headlines around with that today pee. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
A couple of interesting bits have emerged from it because
there has been this speculation about how are they getting divorced?

Speaker 4 (03:42):
Have they separated? And they address it in this podcast.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
The first lit or Show you was kind of like
off air before the podcast officially began, and you can
see Michelle's brother Craig sort of joking about it as well.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
Have look, you guys like each other?

Speaker 7 (03:58):
Oh yeah, really the rumor mill now, don't start.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
So things got a bit more serious once they were
officially on. And as you can see here, Michelle makes
it very clear that at no point ever has she
contemplated the marriage ending.

Speaker 7 (04:26):
There hasn't been one moment in our marriage where I
thought about Quentin my man.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
So there you go. That should hopefully bring it all
to an end.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Well did he say something, Well, I mean that's what
her thoughts on not leaving him.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
You know, he said, that's lovely, darling, But I was
out of here years ago He did not say that.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
He said they the coolest couple ever. They are, aren't they?
