Many do.

Twenty seven percent of women are not screening.

Speaker 6 (06:18):

longer mission impossible for Tom Cruise. That's go live to
a US correspondent Rob Scott. Robie actor finally got his
Golden Gong at a special ceremony overnight.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Yeah, that's right, Eddie. For a man who's been in
so many iconic films, delivered so many great performances, it
is hard to believe that this is Tom Cruise's first
Academy award, but it is. And he was given the
Honorary Oscar at the Governor's Awards here in Los Angeles
last night for Extraordinary distinction in lifetime Achievement in Cinema,
and he was celebrated alongside country music megaster Dolly Parton,

(08:41):
choreographer Debbie Allen, and production designer Win Thomas. And look,
last night's parade saw an absolute smorgas board of Hollywood
heavy hitters on the red carpet, everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio
to Jennifer Lopez, even Sidney Sweeney. But look, for Tom Cruise,
this was something he had been working his whole life

(09:03):
for and you could tell how much it meant to
him getting up there with his acceptance speech, pretty emotional
and this is really not so much a career for him,
but more of a calling.

Speaker 7 (09:14):
And no matter where we come from, in that theater,
we laugh together, we feel together, we hope together, we
dream together. And that is the power of this art form.
That's why it matters. That is why it matters to me.
So making films is not what I do, it is

(09:34):
who I am.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
And at sixty three you can tell Tom Cruise really
really loves what he does. He looks in great nick
and I think it's safe to say he's going to
be on our screens for many years to come. Still
a chance for him to win another Oscar in the
years ahead.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
Yeah, so many amazing films, well deserved, Thank you, Rob.
But checking Tuesday's weather now Brisbane, most is sunny heading
