Speaker 1 (00:03):
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
There's growing pressure on the Abeneze government to do more
to combat rising anti Semitism in the wake of hate
attacks in Melbourne. Australia's Jewish leaders are calling for an
urgent and sweeping response, including a crackdown on anti Israeli
slogans and lessons on bigotry in school classrooms. And I
can tell you the Jewish community feel like the government

(00:26):
has failed them.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
What matters here is there as an attack on Australia,
an attack on Australian values.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
A Western Sydney man has been charged with fire bombing
in East Melbourne Synagogue and police are still searching for protesters.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Involved in a riot at a CBD restaurant on Friday nights.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
There's also calls for stronger action to be taken Israel's
Prime Minister Benjamin Netnaho, who described the attacks as severe
hate crimes that must be uprooted.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Mister netna who is flying out.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
To Washington, DC to meet with US President Donald Trump tomorrow.
They're expected to discuss Israel and America's pushback against Iran,
as well as a ceasefire deal for the war in Gaza.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Back home, it was a brief but powerful one. Sydney
was treated to a cracking.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Light show overnight as severe storms rolled through the city.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
The system brought with it.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Strong wind, gusts, thunder, and sporadic bursts of rain. Social
media videos captured pretty spectacular lightning strikes, one even appearing
to hit Sydney Tower Eye on the central coast.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
There was even a spot of hail reported.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
The storm lasted less than an hour before moving offshore.
Homicide detectives looking into the murder of rich Dylanship in
Sydney have launched a fresh appeal. They've now linked the
case to two other violent crimes in what they're describing
as six days of carnage across two states. They've released
security video of suspects wanted over the attempted murder of

(01:54):
a man in Queensland in July. They've also released security
video of suspects wanted over the kidnap being in the
Sydney suburb of Canley Vale days earlier. Richard Tchup was
fatally shot and his body found at Lucas Heights last August.
Questions this morning over the safety of staff and visitors
at a Queensland zoo after a worker lost an arm

(02:16):
when she was mauled by a lion.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
The fifty year old, who's well.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Trained in working with wild animals, was watching keepers in
the carnivor enclosure at the Darling Downs facility when a
big cat pounced.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
In terms of something that's common, this is quite rare.
I think we can kind of, you know, keep these
guys captive. There's always going to be that spark of
a wild animal, and I think today's pretty much testament
to that. They're still unpredictable.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Unfortunately, she's recovering in the Princess Alexander Hospital in Brisbane.
Opposition leader Susan Lee is waiting to hear back from
the Prime Minister after offering to team up and far
strake changes to.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
The childcare sector.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
She's proposing all corporation to stamp out abuse and closed loopholes.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
I've written to the Prime Minister to offer my full
support and collaboration. Clearly there are loopholes in the system
which allow predators to prey on children and it is
just so horrific.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Education Minister Jason Clair has welcomed the offer, saying the
Opposition is being briefed on the reforms. The world is
watching Victoria's mushroom murder trial with Duras resuming deliberations this morning.
They're fresh from arrest day, but remain sequestered in a
hotel until they can reach a unanimous murding erin Patterson

(03:39):
is waiting to hear if shall we jailed on three
counts of murder and one of attempted murder over the
lethal mushroom lunch. More heart wrenching pictures out of Texas
this morning, where sixty seven people have been confirmed dead
in a flooding disaster.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Live to Rob Scott.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Now US Bureau Rob, we are yet to learn the
full scale.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Of this tragedy.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
Yes, Sally Search and rescue operations are in full swing
again today with crews scouring the banks of the Guadalupe
River there in central Texas. After the torrential rain that
the waters in that river row something like nine meters
in about forty five minutes. The river burst its banks
and the water swallowed basically anyone and everything in its path.

(04:22):
And with each update we get from authorities, the scale
of this disaster and the death toll gets worse and worse.
As you say, now about sixty seven people confirmed dead,
including twenty one children. We've also had an updates on
the campers the young girls missing from Camp Mystic, that's
an all girls Christian camp along the banks of the

(04:42):
Guadalupe River. Originally twenty seven campers were missing. That has
now been scaled down to eleven eleven campers missing and
one camp councilor. But it's no course for celebration just
yet because we know that at least five of those
young girls have been found dead. So absolutely dev stating
news there for parents. But they also have been hundreds

(05:03):
and hundreds of rescues, many people winched to safety from
trees off the roofs of their homes and their camper trailers.
This now being described as a once in a century catastrophe.
And Sally it's not over yet because more rain is forecast.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Yeah, absolutely horrific situation there, all right, Thanks for that,
Rob Scott.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
There.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
New polling suggests if an election were held now in Victoria,
Labour would win comfortably as support for the Coalition plunges.
According to a survey by Redbridge, just thirty eight percent
support the party, five points less than when Brad Batton
took over as leader last year. Counting preferences, Labour leads
the Coalition fifty one point five percent to forty eight

(05:43):
point five similar results in the latest News poll, which
has Labor leading fifty three percent to forty seven that's
despite the fact that voters favored Brad Baton as Premier.
Queensland Captain Cameron Munster has decided he will play in
the State of Ori Rodjen's series Decider to honor his father,
who died on Saturday night. Thirty year old Monster will

(06:06):
return from spending a couple of days with loved ones
to lead Queensland on the field on Wednesday. It's understood
Stephen Munster's passing came as a shock to the whole family.

Speaker 1 (06:17):

A clearing shower in Canberra fifteen degrees, fog clearing to
a sunny day in Melbourne heading for seventeen high about
mostly sunny fourteen degrees at laid, clearing shower with the
