Speaker 1 (00:03):
Good morning. First, this morning, the Pentagon has defended the
success of US strikes and Iran's nuclear facilities, giving its
most detailed assessment yet of what happened during the attack.
The briefing held overnight came after Donald Trump promised irrefutable
evidence of the effectiveness of the US military's bunker busting bombs.

(00:23):
That's golied to our team of reporters, first to Rob
Scott in Washington, DC. Robert, what new details were revealed
about the attack?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Well, and he make no mistake. This was a rare
press briefing held at the Pentagon, and while the Defense
Secretary Pete Hegsett spent most of his time berating the
media for reporting on that leaked intelligence report suggesting that
this bombing rate didn't really inflict the sort of damage
that Donald Trump had initially said, the Chairman of the
Joint Chiefs, General Dan Kane, did provide some new insights
into this operation. He said that the Iranians tried to

(00:55):
stave off an attack on the four zero nuclear facility
by pouring a whole lot of Kong into the main
ventilation and entry shafts of that facility, but the mission planners,
who were involved in sending those b two bombers to
Iran took that into consideration, and we know that there
were twelve bombs that were dropped on that plant. He said,
the first bomb blew that cap off, and then the

(01:17):
remaining eleven went one after the other into two shafts,
penetrating deeper and deeper. And as you said, he released
this incredible video showing a test firing of one of
these bunker busting bombs, just showing how they work. He
also revealed that two intelligence operatives at the Pentagon had
spent the last fifteen years of their life examining every
nook and cranny and every piece of hardware that went

(01:39):
into and out of that facility to give those military
planners the best chance of success once the order from
the President came down, and he said it was their
work that helped to develop these bunker busting bombs that
were made specifically for this mission.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Like the normal surface bomb, you won't see an impact
creator because they're designed to deeply and then function. I
know there's been a lot of questions about that. All
six weapons at each vent at Fourdeaux went exactly where
they were intended to go.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
No new details today about the overall extent of the
damage that has been inflicted on Iran's nuclear plans. In fact,
the other two main sites at Isfahan and the Tans
didn't really even crack a mention today at all, Eddie. Well,
let's go to.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Jaquelin Roberson in Tel Aviv. Now, Jakie, Iran's supreme leader,
has spoken for the first time since.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
That US attack. What did he have to say?

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Well, Eddie has come out to insist that the US
achieved nothing by bombing Iran's nuclear facilities. In a televised
address the Ayatola, Ali Hamine went on to say that
America is exaggerating to hide the truth and that Iran's
retaliation on the US air base in Kuta was a
severe slap in the face for America, despite none of

(02:58):
those missiles actually landing. He went on to say that
the Islamic Republic has access to the American air bases
in the Middle East and he can take them out
whenever the Islamic Republic wants to. Iran has been cracking
down since the ceasefire, making hundreds of arrests and even
executing people suspected or accused of being spies. For Israel.

(03:20):
Some Iranians have even been receiving text messages demanding they
stop following Israeli pages or websites or face jail. Eddie,
the White House spokesperson, said that the comments by the
Supreme Leader is simply him trying to save face.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Okay, Jackie and Rob, thank you so much for the
overnight update to break in news in Western City this morning,
where a major man hunt is underway for an attacker
who left demand for dead. Emergency services were called to
the scene at Pemmelway before eleven last night, where a
man in his twenties was found lying in a driveway
with multiple stab wounds. Despite their very best efforts, paramedics

(03:58):
were unable to save him and the hunt for his
killer is now underway. A damning leaked screenshot has revealed
the dire state of Victoria's emergency services crisis. It showed
there were only one percent of ambulances available on Tuesday morning,
leaving forty nine people waiting for help, two in a

(04:18):
critical condition. There are now fears these delays could lead
to more preventable deaths after two people died after reportedly
waiting close to five hours for help. A fifty eight
year old man in Brisbane has died at a house
party in the suburb of Clayfield. Police say there are
a large number of teenagers at the address. When they arrived,

(04:40):
the man was found with life threatening injuries and died
at the scene. A fifteen year old boy has been
taken into custody while officers investigate exactly how the man died.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
Well.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Queensland is close to striking a deal with a federal
government to divert funding from Brisbane Arena to Olympic and
Paralympic infrastructure, the Deputy Premiere revealing there's international interest to
help deliver the twenty thirty two games.

Speaker 6 (05:06):
So fi At and T Crypto Arena and Intuit Dome
some of the world's best known stadiums visited by the
Deputy Premier on a trade mission to the US.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
The private sector funded those arenas and stadiums.

Speaker 6 (05:19):
Mostly the owners of NFL and NBL teams. Still, he's
confident in private funding for Brisbane Arena.

Speaker 5 (05:26):
We've had over two hundred expressions of interest from various
groups across the world into the development opportunities of the arena.

Speaker 6 (05:37):
But the state is still waiting for the handshake to
divert two point five billion dollars of federal funding to
the game's delivery plan.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
I agree with Tim that this is a matter that
you will hear from us on sin.

Speaker 5 (05:48):
I have not asked the federal government for one extra.

Speaker 6 (05:50):
Dollar, but is the Commonwealth convinced.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
You can never rull out that they're going to come
back and ask for more money.

Speaker 6 (05:56):
They can agree on this though new research to help
female athletes continue their careers while having children through modified training,
a planned path to return, and protections for funding.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
I never once thought that I would retire. I was
able to not only become a mum, but also make
my fourth Olympics in a new event.

Speaker 6 (06:14):
It's hope the recommendations from this research won't only help
Olympians but other elite athletes and women playing community based sport.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
I'm so pleased that we can pave the way here
today for other.

Speaker 6 (06:28):
Women redefining which they're capable of. Isonna KINGSN seven News.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Three Australians who could potentially face the death penalty in
Bali over the murder of a Melbourne man have been
paraded in hoods and handcuffs by Indonesian police. It's the
first time all three Australian suspects have been seen. The
trio could face the death penalty if convicted of the
villa shooting almost two weeks ago. The motivation behind the

(06:54):
attack remains unknown. Accused mushroom lunch killer Aaron Patterson will
have to wait until next week at the earliest to
learn her fate, with the judge telling the jury that
deliberations will now start on Monday. Chief Justice Christopher Beale
will finish delivering his instructions by lunchtime that day, and
then a ballot will be used to reduce the jury

(07:15):
from fourteen members to twelve. Miss Patterson has denied killing
her three relatives and attempting to kill another. Cities Underworld
gangsters have got it wrong yet again. A manhunt is
still underway this morning for the shooter who opened fire
on this home in North Kellyville, but they once again
had the wrong address. The home they were after was

(07:36):
down the street and the residents moved out weeks ago.
Three people were inside the targeted home at the time,
left terrified. These people have been targeted wrongfully and their
lives have been turned upside down overnight. They are understandably
traumatized but not physically hurt. It's been revealed Bradley John
Murdock plans to drop a bombshell from the grave. The

(07:58):
killer of British backpackers at Peter Falconio in two thousand
and one is close to death that an Alice Springs Hospital.
Northern Territory police doubled the reward for information leading to
mister Falconio's remains. It's been revealed new information about the
case will come to light after his death. I know

(08:18):
what they are and they will be explosive and it's
a shame that they weren't able to be released earlier.
Its expected officers will return to interview Murdock again in
the coming days. Victoria's top climate and energy official has
sensationally resigned. John Bradley, who was Department of Energy, Environment

(08:41):
and Climate Action Secretary for eight years, guided the state
through significant reforms, including the transition away from coal. The
Energy Minister, Lily Diambrosio, praised his leadership for the state.
Opposition argues his departure is a sign of instability. Queensland
is bracing for another cold snap, with southern inland parts

(09:02):
of the state potentially hitting negative temperatures in the coming days.
Is also rain on the way, with coastal showers from
late today. Brisbane could see twenty five millimeters of rain
on Monday, thirty five millimeters on the Gold Coast. It's
hoped to mostly clear in time for the start of
the school holidays.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
