Speaker 1 (00:03):
Good morning. First this morning, a North Queensland family has
had a harrowing close call after they were struck by
a speeding stolen car in Townsville. Only our cameras were there,
as nearby residents rushed to help, even taking down one
of the young thieves as they tried to escape.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
An innocent family of five on their way home from
a soccer game when disasters struck. Their car hit by
a speeding stolen ute, launched onto its side and into
a pole. Everyone inside, including young children, somehow not badly hurt.
Those kids were ripped out of their seatbelts.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
And luckily not one of them.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Sort of scratching lot.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Moments earlier, stolen Toyota high Locks caught speeding through the
streets of garbut seconds before impact.

Speaker 5 (00:49):
Four or five kids to scrambled out of the car.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Just a lot of shock and just devastating mate. Nearby
residents rushed to help them and dad, their two young
girls and grandmother who'd been hit. Young Georgia tom Keys
even offered her teddy to one of the girls in
the crash.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
I thought she was sturt.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
She's four and her name's Daisy, and I have a
four year old so my daughter said maybe please go
take her a teddy and I said that'd be lovely.
Brook tom Keys performed a citizen's of rest alongside her neighbor.
I've just seen someone run and I was like, yep,
let's go. The owner of the Highlark says it was
stolen last Thursday. One person was detained on scene, multiple

(01:30):
others are still on the run. Police say charges are
expected to be laid.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Was transported all the patients that were in the vehicles
up the hospital.

Speaker 4 (01:40):

Fifty five year old fitzroy Man is expected to be
charged over stabbing in Melbourne's northwest. Two men were reportally
yelling before one pulled out a knife and stabbed the
other in the neck. Rave civilians performed the dramatic citizens arrest.
Police say this was a random attack. The offender yelling
a lah akbah after he was tackled to the ground.

Speaker 6 (02:10):
He just wouldn't stop, so I think that was in
response to getting tackled. That was scary, Like, you don't
normally see this stuff happening in many pine so it
was pretty confronting.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
The forty four year old victim remains in a stable
condition in hospital. In breaking news overseas, now, President Donald
Trump has issued a major threat to Vladimir Putin and Russia,
pledging missile to NATO and huge tariffs over the war
in Ukraine. Let's go light the Jaquelin Robson in London, Jackie.
Donald Trump has seemingly lost his patients with Russia.

Speaker 7 (02:44):
Certainly, Eddie and Donald Trump was venting those frustrations in
the Oval Office today, saying he thought he was on
the cusp of a ceasefire with Vladimir Putin four times
to have that essentially blow up in his face. He
went on to say that he'd get off the phone
with the Russian present to then go home and have
the first Lady Milania Trump tell him that Russia had

(03:05):
just launched another deadly attack on Ukraine. So now a
major change and shift from the US President meeting with
the NATO chief Mark Ruter and deciding to now start
sending arms to NATO to then distribute to Ukraine in
this war with Russia. The exact weaponry is unclear, but

(03:25):
Donald Trump did say that patriot defense missiles will be
sent and that will help stop Russian ballistic missiles. All
of these arms to be paid for by NATO members
European leaders. But he did give Russia some breathing room
fifty days to come to a ceasefire arrangement or face
hefty tariffs sanctions of one hundred percent tariffs on any

(03:48):
countries doing business with Russia. Let's take a listen to
the US president.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
We are very unhappy I am with Russia. We're going
to be doing second darters if we don't have a
deal on fifty days. It's very simple and there'll be
at one hundred percent. We're going to make top of
the line weapons and they'll be said to NATA.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
So what we will do is work through the NATAL
systems to make sure that we know what Ukrainians need
build into Ukraine, get gets his hands on really massive
numerous of military equipment.

Speaker 7 (04:22):
Now this comes five months since that infamous dressing down
Donald Trump had on the Ukrainian leader in that same
Oval office. Vladimir Zelenski today meeting with the US Special
Envoy Keith Kellogg as the missile sirens were airing and
sounding in Ukraine. Russia has been stepping up its attacks,

(04:43):
but will these sanctions and this new weaponry be enough
to drag Vladimir Putin to the table. Eddie will have
to wait and see if nothing else will know in
fifty days time.

Speaker 6 (04:54):
Thank you, Jackie.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Plenty more to come on that during sunrise. We'll cross
back to you soon. A chilling threat from an anonymous
figure instructing arson attacks in Melbourne is being investigated by
the Joint Counter Terrors and Team. The mass person issued
a string of anti Israeli threats warning workers at the
scene of a fire attack at Lovett Technologies, accusing them
of being complicit in genocide in Palestine.

Speaker 7 (05:17):
For the past few months, we have been closely watching you.
We have your addresses.

Speaker 1 (05:24):

have been made. Two homes still under construction in Sydney's
West have been damaged and suspected fire bombing attacks of

attacked around one point thirty. The fires were quickly brought

(05:46):
under control, Nobody was injured and a crime scene has
been set up. Meantime, police in Sydney's northwest as searching
for an arsonist after a high lux ute was destroyed
by fire of a night. The blaze broke out around
midnight at Seven Hills, the car park of a cricket oval.
Firefighters were quick to bring it under control. No other
incidents have been linked to the fire at this time.

by a car at the scene of what's understood to
be car meet at Burswood overnight. The girl was seriously injured.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
And taken to hospital.

At this stage, it's unknown whether anyone has been taken
into custody over the incident. Police were seen setting up
a crime scene speaking with witnesses at the car park.
Anthony Ibanezi is set to stand firm on his election
campaign commitment to remove the sensitive Port of Darwin from
Chinese control in critical talks in Beijing. Tim Lester is

(06:39):
traveling with the Prime Minister and Tim the PM will
meet with the Chinese President today. How will this play out?

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Australian prime ministers coming here to Beijing of long faced,
sticky questions in their meetings with Chinese leaders, usually on
human rights or perhaps China's territorial claims. Well, Anthony Albernizi
will face those today and some more as he meets
key Chinese leaders a Premier Le Chung he'll meet as well,

(07:08):
though he'll meet President Shi Jinping in a late morning
meeting local time. And another issue that's arisen for the
Prime Minister revolves around the Port of Darwin, of course,
leased by a Chinese owned company, which has caused security
issues and concerns from the United States. The Prime Minister

(07:30):
promising during the election campaign to reverse that ownership. That
will not be appreciated here in China, so it may
be an issue in his talks. Also, the US raising
issues around the Orcas submarine deal and wanting commitments from
Australia as to how we'd respond to a war over
Taiwan have not made this any easier for Prime Minister Albernizi.

(07:55):
As he goes to this meeting today, which issues will
be raised, we don't yet know, but we do know
that the Prime Minister will speak to news media after
his talks with the President, so very interesting press conference
coming up.

up to half a dozen emails from parents demanding their

such as nappy changing, toileting and dressing. It comes after
recent sexual abuse charges against male childcare workers across the country.
