Bordertown rocked by murder-suicide of married couple

A woman has been killed in a tragic case of domestic violence at Bordertown in the state's south-east. She was found dead alongside her husband in what police are treating as a murder-suicide.

In the state's southeast a horrific discovery inside a Bordertown home.

Police believe the man took his own life after murdering
the woman.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Local police found the bodies of forty seven year old
Mercer Husseini and his forty one year old wife last
night after a relative called them asking for a welfare check.
The couple has several children.

The man was known to police through a previous domestic
violence incident earlier in the year, and that involved the
deceased woman.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
The family is from Afghanistan but has lived in Bordertown
for some time. They have strong ties to the local
meat works and their neighbors never noticed anything.

A ry well, I'm shocked, really, i am shocked. It's
hard to believe that they're not there.

Although he was known to police. Devastated members of border
Town's Islamic community say they never saw this coming from
the killer.

He's a tragic circumstance. Aunts for the family and the
community and all emergency responders who are attending. Domestic abuse
is no longer acceptable by the community or the police.
