Speaker 1 (00:04):
Although Magda is unable to be with us tonight, I'm
honored to be accepting this award on her behalf as
someone who has had the privilege of being her friend
for over fifty years, since we were both just eleven
years old. I'd like to share what Magda has to say.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Hello, my darlings. I'm so sorry that I can't be there.
I do have a good excuse this time. Normally I
come because I just can't be bother getting out of
my pajamas, but you know, this time, there really is
a real reason. I want to say. First of all,
let's just get this out of the way, all right.
(00:49):
I've not been awarded this honor because I've got the cancer, okay,
like I have. I'm getting this because of forty years
of hard work, you know, lobbying, ribing, threatening, whatever it took,
whatever it took, and finally i've been it's all it's
all paid off. So I don't feel like an impost.
(01:12):
I feel like I've earned it and I'm thrilled, thrilled,
but honestly, you snite though, I really just do want
to say thank you so much for this honor. The
Australian TV industry is a terrific industry to work in,
and it is chuck a block full of really good people.
(01:34):
There are a few rogues, but mostly really good people.
I've made a lot of great friends, and I feel
very fortunate to have spent forty years making other people
and myself laugh. What a way to be able to
make a life in a career. I want to thank
(01:55):
the logis. I want to thank the people who you know,
decided that I was the one who should be the recipient.
I want to thank my agent and Churchill Brown and
all of the wonderful people at Shanahan's. I also want
to thank, of course, my family and friends who've been amazing,
(02:21):
especially at this time. I particularly what I think Kristen,
who's just sitting there, who's been an absolute rock. And
the love and support that I have felt like a
(02:42):
tsunami from an Australian public has just it's been overwhelming,
and I have to tell you it really helps.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
It's I did not I was going to cry.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
When I go on and look at those messages every time,
my heart liveds and I feel that much stronger to
deal with the cancer. So thank you for the love
that you're just pouring my way, I really feel it,
(03:19):
and yeah, I just feel fortunate and grateful to have
had forty years in this industry, in this country, because
by God, at least we're saying anyway, I love you
(03:40):
all and hopefully I will be there soon. I'm sure
I've forgotten who to think, but just know I'm thanking everyone.
Chemo brain is real. Yeah, what can I say except
I love.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
You, thank you, thank you everyone.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
I know Magda will be so appreciative. Congratulations Magda, my
dear friend. There was just one more thing that she
wanted to say, so let's give the last word to you.
Speaker 3 (04:59):

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Oh sorry, just one final thing before I go. I
have had my hair done specifically, so we'll match with
my gold Lady.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
