Qantas set to resume international flights from Adelaide

Sip for news can tonight reveal a return to international
flying out of Adelaide is on the cards for Quantas.

Aviation editor Blake Johnson has the exclusive details for US.

It is resannah and fair to say it's been a
long time coming after a twelve year break from the
national carrier. I understand Quantas is about to announce a
new flight out of Adelaide for which you'll need a passport.
If I was a betting man, my money would be
on Singapore or Auckland, enabling connections to QF one to
London or QF three to New York. But with the

imminent arrival of the airline's first airbus, a three to
two one XLR, which stands for extra long Range, many
destinations will soon be possible out of Adelaide, right up
into Manila, Hong Kong, Bangkok and out to Fiji in
the South Pacific with that particular aircraft. No word yet
on which aircraft or when the fly lights will start.

this could mean cheaper airfares for local travelers.

That's right well, when extra airline in the market equals
more capacity and that in turn should drive down prices. Now,
local travel agents predict the new route to be A
most likely route to be announced tomorrow is to Singapore,
offering a one stop service through to London. Of course,
the biggest customers to benefit will be Quantus frequent flyers
and corporate travelers.

Well, Haus have probably the best frequent fly program out there.
There's millions and millions of members and now to have
that service direct out of Adelaide, they'll be able to
use their points so redeem their points, They'll be able
to accrue points as well.

It's good to have an Australian airline actually fly out
of Adelaide. Yeah, hopefully their service is as good as
the other airlines as well. Now Adelaide is already well
serviced by several global carriers, including Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Qatar
and Air New Zealand, with United starting direct services to

the US later in the year, so it will be
interesting to see how they all respond to this Quantus move.
