"Zack the cat" is now down to eight lives after somehow surviving a fall from a high-rise apartment tower in Southbank. His miracle escape is being used to warn other pet owners about the dangers of lurking outside.

He dropped eight stories and almost certainly dropped one of
nine lives. When he disappeared, Pierina spent the night searching.
Neighbors provided clues.

They told me that they saw Zack jumping from one
balcony to another.

The cleaning lady found him hiding and hurt.

Speaker 6 (00:55):
Zach had multiple fractures throughout one of his back legs
on that were quite severe.

So severe they had to amputate.

Lord Smith's Animal Hospital's emergency fund helped pay.

He's doing great, No, I mean not amazing, but he's
recovering slowly now.

Zach's ditches come out Monday. Wandering pets are common when
it's warm and doors and windows are open.

It's not specifically that they're trying to launch themselves out.
It's often that they're just explorative and curious type of
creatures and they just want to see what else.

Cats have an uncanny ability to rotate mid air and
land on their feet, but a soft landing isn't guaranteed.

Even when we sleep, he likes to cuddle, so he's
like my little sponge when we sleep.
