Tragedy strikes Chinese exchange students in Newcastle home

Two Chinese exchange students, aged 14 and 13, were involved in a tragic incident in a Newcastle home. One 14-year-old girl was fatally stabbed, while the 13-year-old has been taken into custody.

A work has been killed and another critically injured after
they were crushed by a concrete pump at Carlingford. Recently,
a crane almost toppled at the same site. Meriton Boss
Harry Triggerboff was there after today's tragedy with other workers
now on edge.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
A concrete pour that ended in tragedy just after nine
am at a construction site on Shirley Street in Carlingford,
two workers were struck by a concrete boom pump.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Had a big bang. Turned around seeing after two guys
under one's legs well ban one was just knocked out unconscious.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Intensive care paramedics, specialist doctors and police arrived on scene.
Arman A Lamad is now fighting for life at Royal
north Shore Hospital with spinal and leg injuries. Paolo Maou
was taken to Westmead but he couldn't be saved. Three
hundred and fifty workers were on site and told to leave.

I was in shock. I didn't know what to do.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Merit and Boss Harry Triggerbof was on site not long
after it happened, speaking to employees from the company. The
safety and well being of everyone on our sides is
our highest priority. We're devastated by this loss and are
doing everything we can to support those affected. Workers have
told seven News they've been concerned days of heavy rain

could have impacted the soil underneath the machinery that will
now likely form part of the safe work investigation. Just
weeks ago, at the same side, strong winds left this
crane on the brink of collapse.
