Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Amazing Race Australia, the Celebrity Edition. I think there's
an episode to go this Sunday night, The Big Final
at seven o'clock on ten. Just missing out on a
Grand Final spot by that much by Whisker. It's Peter Helli.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Good morning, morning, Clezy, Good morning Lisa. How are we
all right? How are you? How are you after that
bloody roadblock? Yeah, I had I hadn't time to get
my head around it because, as you might imagine, it
recorded live, so I was watching it and yeah, mixed
emotions because you know, we were just hoping when it
(00:37):
started not to get that first and then hopefully get
to the second country. And then all of a sudden
we found ourselves just hanging on and then and then
we actually started doing well and winning a couple of
leagues and yeah, we're really in it here, and we
started we had a really good day up until the
seven sling shot and this wasn't happening.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Well, congratulate relations to you and your wife Bridget for
making it this fast.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
What did you enjoy it?
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Oh? We loved it. We absolutely loved when if there
was a plane leaving in an hour to do the
Amazing Race again, we would be on it really really yeah. Yeah,
it's it's hard, but it's it's it's rewarding. And I
don't think I've done anything in my life where triumph
and despair lived so closely together and then put on
repeat again and again and and yeah, we actually love
(01:30):
it to go to places like the Midbire and I've
seen there in South Africa and you know, and piquette
was it.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Was great about places you might go in the one trip. No,
not generally, no, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
No, you know, we're really proud that we went on
two days where maybe it's still the toughest days on
the tour. We travel for thirty hours into Namibia and
then race from the airport and we won that leg
and then so yeah, we're really proud and what we
what we did.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
How about relationship wise?
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Mate was a bit testing, you know, it was great
a lot bit ask about that. And we've traveled together
before with three kids under under father and Europe and
that was probably emotionally tougher. The Amazing Race was so
that probably had this in good stead.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
I think this was a walk in the park. Really,
this was like a second Honey.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Challenge, like a body kid on the plane. When everyone's
complaining about.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Them, it does seem to let Bridget do all the
hard challenges.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Well, I mean we never know what the heart is,
what what is what is hard is we were our
own skill sets. Okay, that's a particular skills. I certainly
I certainly wish he was the one changing the bike
(03:00):
wheel and that was that was frustrating. And but she
was certainly our team captain. I mean, like I said,
we won twice. You know, we were a great team.
But she was certainly the captain of the team, no
doubt about that.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Was that bike whill. In fact, the most difficult thing
you found yourself up again.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Well, it's what's the thing about the amazing race is
you have these challenges and we thought, okay, I was
pretty happy when I saw it. I thought you can
do this, and then and then it just wasn't. It
wasn't coming to me. And then it's just there's only
so many ways you can you know, there's some challenges
where there's maybe five or six different ways you could
address it, but this was like there's one obviously one
(03:41):
way of putting this wheel on, and I'm not getting
it right. I was relieved that others weren't getting it
as well. But I took longer and we took a
time downal the we got lucky. There's no elimination, but
it was the most frustrating experience on the race. What
are you? Are you any good in escape rooms? Because
I hate escape rooms.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
I want to relax when I'm in my downtime. It's
the same kind of thinking.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
It's probably the best if you're going to go to
the Amazing Race. Probably the escape room is the most closely,
you know, a great way to prepare for the Amazing Race.
I've never done one. Yeah, I imagine that would be
a pretty good way to prepare.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Well, the Amazing Race is almost iver for you. It
is over, but we can continue to see you on
Tuesday nights on ten on Taskmaster. But I guess when
you get set a task now it's like, oh whatever, yeah,
do your worst.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
I look over my shoulders the bridge this one right.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Absolutely, Actually, just looking back fondly on the show.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
What's the one thing that in the future will come
to mind? Definitely? Definitely going down the dunes and then
Maybia sandboarding found that that was that was incredible. I'm
not liking this may shock you. I'm not like an
adrenaline junkie, so doing that and being a little bit
nervous when I put my head down, you know, to
(05:01):
go down one of the oldest students in the world.
The speed down it was was amazing.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
How do you think will win?
Speaker 2 (05:09):
I think I think it'll be out of Brooking Adam
and dam and Logan. I think Oscar and Billy have
hung in there. I can't imagine them getting past Dam
and Logan or Brooking. Adam have an amazing tenacity and
their country people so that they've got like a good
broad the skills, I think.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Yeah, skills. All right, well, Pat, hell you, congratulations, it's
been fantastic and thanks for joining us this morning.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Always a pleasure. Legends. Thank you. Take care,
