Yeah, it's a big week for the old sagittary. My
sister's birthday yesterday, same day as yours, yours and today
do you know today is the eighteen ninth birthday of
a Perth absolute legend, superstar, icon superstar and sold us
all the car at some stage of.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Our life on one of the great businessmen still out
on the lot. He's probably there.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Now, probably walking the lot right now talking to people
on his birthday eight.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
All going strong in the in the car park. That
is sensational.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
How good Happy birthday, John.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
You couldn't do me a favor though, Claric. You know
that Jock's journal.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Yes, sound the Jock Journal? Yeah, your name is.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Can you get hold of that somehow and delete me
from it at least this week? Delete my age because
every radio station is going.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
It used to be cool. Now I can.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Get it if you want. A guy's name is Greg Neuman,
because I contacted him this week because he got a
bit confused.

Speaker 5 (01:29):
He thought that Simon Beaumont, the former Carlton footballer, was
out mate Simon Beaumont joining radio.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
They're two different blokes, so a different looking.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
So did anyone sing Marilyn Monroe Monroe style to you,
yesterd a happy perfon tame because you are the president
of the per Football PLA.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Oh yes, president president.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
We should have played that audio. But if you know
the guy from Jock's journal, just get that.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah, not yours out too, if you want.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
I'm not there, I'm not famous.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
I cut it out. We better talk sport. I guess
it is early morning. Feels like, well, you guys do
an amazing job. That's all I'm all I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Creaking up, waking up.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
It starts today.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Don't you get in here?

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Oh my god, So there is something exciting in sport
going on. The Second Test starts today at midday first
ball midday in Adelaide.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Our man Mitch Marsh, the.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Bison's his nickname is he okay, massive head. He's going
to he's going to play and it sounds like he's
going to bowl as well. He's been a bit sore.
So it's a pink ball test because the day night game,
which is a bit unusual.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Finishes fred test.

Speaker 6 (02:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Yeah, it finishes at how many hours difference to Adelaide's
just two hours or two an hour?

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Sure, I think it's two an hour and a half.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
But do they have daylight saving, because that'll make it two.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
And a half. I think it's two and a half.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
So confused.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yes, well they have daylight saving, it's two and a half.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
So it finishes at seven pm in Perth on Telly,
which so the game finished in nine thirty eight.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
So the whole test is a day night Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
So they start at two thirty played till nine thirty
for a couple of years and that's why they ring
out the pink ball. It's not for any reason the
other one than so you can see about it.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
I thought it was a barbie thing, but anyway, it
was a funny.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
It was a funny thing with Mitch Marsha He went
in during training and people rise in jured and all that,
and so I rang up some of our friends who
are connected because a Great West Australian and said why
did he go inside during training? And it turned out
he went in there to play with his new daughter, Olive.
He's born on November seventeen, so I just wanted to

(03:39):
go in there and give Oliver kiss and see Gretta
and that sort of stuff. It is a different world
in sport when you've got your baby there and you're
trying to sort of juggle everything and yowei's. The footballers
do it in the off season obviously, but there's no
real off season for the quickness. It's almost twelve months
of the year. Fastball of Scottie Bowlin's coming back. He
was a hero at one stage. He makes his come

(04:01):
back for Australia. He's replaced Josh Hazelwood. But all eyes
will be on if we win. I don't know if
we win the toss and bat. We probably will win
the toss and bat anyway, if we're batting today. Marnus Labershane,
he's under so much pressure and he was working his
butt off in the nets with thirty seven degrees in
Adelaide yesterday's holie. Oh yeah, thirty two today, I believe

(04:22):
chance of rain. And he didn't leave the He didn't
leave the nets.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
He was just out there.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
And I saw in the paper today big story Justin
Langer about what Marnus needs to do, and his advice
to Marnus was trust your mercurial cover drive and that
audacious whip through mid wicket when the ball is short,
trust your instincts, get your feet dancing, play with a
sound mind and the freedom like when you first entered
the Test arena, and finally remind yourself that you are

(04:51):
a Test match star who needs to prove nothing to
anyone because you have done it so many times before.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
That's amazing. J L Jail don't And the other thing
is don't it.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Out it out it out and then he gets out early.
So anyway, first ball bolt at midday today. Night finished
at seven hour time. I wanted to mention last night
as well. The Dockers women had their awards and Anna
Hay was hosting it. Actually, Oh and mim Strom absolutely

(05:24):
cleaned up. She's had a massive monster season, breakout season.
The Ruckman record breaking selecting the Australian scene, broke the
record for the hitouts. Now Now has won the AFLW
Club Champion for the Dockers two fifty six votes, just
ahead of Ash McCarthy. Yes, and and Gabby Newton.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
He's no great coming from the Bulldogs.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Yeah, the number one draft picks, so well done to Mimstrong.
Got a huge future. Just scratching the surface at the moment.
And I was going to say, if people want a
loose end today they could head down to Eagles training
nine point thirty at lat Lane. Yeah, they're into it
lead up to Christmas. It's one of the final sessions
before the Christmas session. They have a little bit of

(06:07):
a break. There's a couple of injuries. Bailey Williams of
Ruckman's got a bit of a hammy. Harry barnett'shurt his calf.
Harry Edwards is in a moonbook, got bone stress. So
there's three that's a little bit concerning. It's way early,
it's only preseason and Harley Reid still not training being managed.
It's interesting least with Harley Reed, he played for ten

(06:29):
months straight basically. Yeah, that's part of the story. That's
what happened was he just needed a break because no
first year player has ever been in the spotlight the
way he has.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
It was so bright.

Speaker 5 (06:42):
He didn't hold back either, went he played it like
he was played twenty games and he went gang busters
every year, got.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Suspended, couldn't win the Rising Star. So he went home, celebrated,
became the face of Victorian racing. So he's been busy.
So he come back in a bit, not exactly in
great and because you know, he needed to break, you
need to let off some steam. And then he got
can cast and now he's in a modified program because
of his calf. So they're just going to manage him.

(07:09):
I think they'll all be sweet, but it's just, you know,
it's a lot for a young bloke and he just
turned twenty. Yeah, and he's still got two more years
before he can actually decide on a big contract.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
So he played his first year like a fourth year player.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Really he was super and he's going to be a superstar.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
So if you're at a loose end down to Eagles
training Eagles fans and you can you'll see him on
the outer oval and you so get a real good
look at him.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Because there's there's no fence or anything.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
No fense, open session, that's.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
It, go for it.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
So I was going to mention that, so I know
I am the per footy club presidents. It's like sort
of ragging or blowing our own interest, but we have
actually signed a very good player. Geelong premiership player Brandon
Parfit twenty six years old, played one hundred and thirty
games in the AFL. Lara Kia Wadramanga man from Darwin.
Member of the Geelong twenty twenty two premiership team. Coming

(08:00):
over here now he's just been delisted by Geelong, but
at twenty six he might get redrafted, which is probably
not ideal for us, but we want everyone to be
the best version of ourselves and so we're very fortunate.
He was coached by our general manager footy, Brad Dodd.
Remember Brad Dodge Doty played for the Doctors. Yeah, he's
our footy manager. Great man and you can take a

(08:21):
backwards step, do you either? No, he famously did the
They called him one punch dog. Didn't he remember when.

Speaker 6 (08:27):
He dropped Phil read What's what I'm talking about? One
punch DoD. It's a great nickname. Wilson sort of a
great nick name was. It was very dramatic at the time,
I can tell you, Oh my god. So anyway, a
bit of news there and the waffle flying.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
That's great.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
And I wanted to mention our good friend, a good
friend of ours, Ryan Daniels blaming the Christian Medal for
ex sport seven star five years in the array. Yeah,
five years.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Yeah, so he's been on fire.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
That's great.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
And one of his feat one of his stories was
a John Todd interview in the passing of the Great
John Todd. And what's it called when you do a
peace on a person who'sousstumus? Yeah, posthumous, but it's it's
called something, isn't it a posthumous? The actual work itself,
it'll come to me anyway. Yeah, it was brilliant and

(09:23):
on seven years it's really it's early, really early. And
but what I was going to say was, you guys
should have put in your magnificent interview with the great
John Todd won the Radio award absolutely certain.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
We didn't know that we could.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Yeah, wasn't officially.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
I do remember that interview very fondly.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
He was a lovely man. That was so touching.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
You really wanted to talk to you want to get
really it's really nice.

Speaker 5 (09:49):
To chat and that both of us we heard the
news that Toddy had passed at the same time. It
was like, oh yeah, it was really yeah chat.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
I'm just going to unofficially award you the radio Mate
twenty twenty four. Congratulations series you could work.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
You had been posthumously. Thank you making short speech please
it's about John and his family.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Look nice one at least that you were.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
Great to Thank you and tomorrow nights.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Are you ready for this?

Speaker 4 (10:19):
You guys coming in the city.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
How many of you have been? I think so? Yeah, good,
I'll be watching that.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
Yeah, they're playing it on Christmas Day full television. Yeah,
there's one time replayed next week. They played next week
and then Christmas Day.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
It's been going since the seventies. Yes, yeah, I was.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
There in the seventies.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Remember when it was in the daytime ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Yeah, not the same as the light the first one
they had.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
It was so hot, people were fainting and animals were
sort of being at the.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
That's because Rick Harden was young and hot and he's
not a tractor now. But women, it was women. That
was fifteen years float in the blue.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
From that it's only bloke so me that Captain Hook
and stuff like that. But I was going to tell you, guys,
I didn't tell you about this. My funniest moment was
I was I was years ago, I reckon twenty years ago,
and they used to have an RAC van in it,
like a giant RAC van, and I used to drive
it right And one year, just up the big intersection

(11:21):
here at Saint George's Terrace, the parades underway, and I
completely stalled it all right, and we couldn't get it started,
so we held up the parade for twenty minutes.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
And I'm sitting there at We're in my rac.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Gyear and you couldntvix yourself.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
And guess what we had to do? Call the RAC
I did some van came in love.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
I thought it was a stunt, but it was actually
people thought, hey, it's this what a stunt.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
That is hilarious, brilliant.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
The only more embarrassing thing was when I was on
the camels. I was a wise man, Yeah, I remember that. Yeah,
And my camel stopped in front of the VIP area,
pooped and did the big double lump double lump lump
bloo you've ever seen.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
I just sit there while I was poing.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Oh they didn't get on the TV and you bag, No,
we didn't.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
There was like.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Running behind it was scooping. They talk about a bad
jobs prove.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Bag in the history uses a giant shovel.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Snow snow shovel, that's how big it was. So mister
Stokes is going, what's happening over there?

Speaker 1 (12:29):
With a drink.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
But my other favorite story was Anna Hay was in
a life sized snow cone SnowCat. She's dressed as a
pixie or an elf or something, and you know there's
a fake snow going up behind her. Huge But it
was a really hot night and it started fogging up.
The whole thing started fogging up in there and she
actually wrote.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
The windows to come mummy. Is that is that all?
It's very sweaty, oh dear oh man, but it is brilliant.
It is brilliant.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
So if you've got a chance to get out and
get about tomorrow night in the city it's the big Christmas.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Bredget thank you my friends.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
On Monday.

Speaker 5 (13:15):
