Speaker 2 (00:04):

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Mister chat with our man Hate Young from the Dockers
last week because he was under the knife for his
back today and made how you doing. How you're traveling
at this point in time?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Not too bad? I'm better than I was a week ago.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Very well.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Yeah, yeah, I'm moving all right now.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
So it's amazing when you get a little bit of
independence back off the crutches almost so, no feeling good
and yeah, just taking it day by day at the moment.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Very good, very good. Indeed, Yeah, two crutches down to one.
But I guess they get you up and they want
you mobile pretty well straight away to Yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Well, that's a good thing about a hamshering injury or
surgery I should say, is that, Yeah, you kind of
you can put weight through it pretty quickly, so they
encourage you to sort of get moving and obviously you
don't want to take any risks or slip over, but yeah,
it's been nice to sort of, you know, keep moving.
I bet yesterday I was in the club doing some
gym work which was nice and still not allowed to

(01:13):
really get a sweat up, but yeah, I can get moving,
which it's amazing what a bit of exercise can do
for your sort of mental health and just feeling like
you could.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Achieve something for the day.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
So yeah, hopefully from now, from now going forward, it
should be a little bit easier.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Any inkling of how long it might keep your sidelined.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
It's a little bit. It's sort of a window.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Yeah, it sort of depends how things travel at the moment,
but hopefully between eight to ten, what like twelve maybe,
but yeah, I'll be pushing for eight.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
And then ten would be results injuries.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Na, Na, I'm I'm pretty caen to get back out
there and still play some footy.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
This year made the footing on the weekend. If you
Nina Kennedy, the Perth based Olympic champion and World champion
in the.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Pole vault, that must have been awful.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
It was horrible. Yeah, she's a superstar. Yeah, gold medals.
She's done exactly the same injury as you. She said,
I've done Hayden's injury. I five weeks ahead of him,
same too.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
Yeah, yeah, Actually, one of our sports scientists at our
club works with Nina as well and sort of spoke
to me before I went in for my surgery and said,
you know, I've worked with Nina and this is sort
of what she's gone through. She went ahead with the surgery,
so that gave me a lot of confidence going into
the surgery. That's obviously she's done it and it seems
to be going really well for her. So yeah, album

(02:25):
might be out of speak to her down the track
and see how she's going and but yeah, the surgery
went really well.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
I've heard it went well.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
For her too, so I'm pretty positive with getting back
out there and paying some footy.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
All right. Was it tough to watch Thursday night losing
to Collingwood by fourteen points at Opta Stadium.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
It was incredibly tough. It was.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
I was on the couch with my leg up and
you just feel helpless because you can't get out there
and do anything. But I was I was really really
proud of the way the boys played.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
I thought we were right up for the fight. We
started really well.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Unfortunately, Collingwood just have a really good ability to score
pretty quickly. I think we had thirty more inside fifties
in them, which in any most games of footy, that
is enough to sort of get the result. But they're
just pretty damaging when they went inside and they've got
some pretty good players in.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Their forward line.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
So it was a little bit frustrating because it was
one of those games where upon review, it was quite
a positive review because we though this is the brand
of footy we want to play, and it was a
complete opposite to the same Kilda game where we lost
in sort of the key aras we want to dominate in,
and so we had to review the game for what
it was. Yes, we didn't win on the scoreboard, but

(03:36):
it was more our type of footy and we want
to keep rewarding that and keep encouraging that going forward
because we feel like if we can keep putting performances
like that in terms of you know, winning clearance, contested ball,
you know, owning field position, it's going to give us
the best opportunity to win going forward. So yeah, it
was a pretty positive review despite the result, and we

(03:56):
want to keep encouraging that type of footy.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Absolutely if I'm more disturbing if it was similar to
the Es and killed a game. Now Sean Darcy with
his knee, mate, have you heard anything about how he's going.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
He's doing all right.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
It's not as bad as I think we might have
initially assumed.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
So I don't know. I think he might be a
test this week. Okay, So yeah, they're just.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Like managing that situation carefully, just making sure that they
make the best decision. But yeah, I think he's I
think he's doing all right. He's been really optimistic and
upbeat all week. I think initially he might have thought
the worst, but I think he's a bit more upbeat
knowing that it's not as bad as we might have expected.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
All right.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Well, the Soir Doug Nichols Round coming up now. Jeff
Farmer has designed the team jumper for this game, which
it's on real going to be a tough one against
the Giants in Sydney on Saturday.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
It will be.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Yeah, they're a pretty quality team and the last few
times we've traveled up there we've had a few issues.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
So it's a great test for our group.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
At the moment with how we're going and if we
can sort of back up a good performance last week
away from home. It would be a good sign of
sort of growth in our game. And they've got some
pretty important players that are playing some pretty good footy
at the moment. So we're gonna have a few key matchups.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
I reckon which four blokes are going to play on?
Jesse Hogan, do you think?

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Yeah, that's a good question. I reckon, We've got one bloke.
We'll do the job.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
And these names Alex Peers skipper.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
He kicks seven goals against the Cats.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Yeah, goals against us too, Yeah he does, he does.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
But no, I think Moose is up for the challenge.
So now we'll see how he goes. But yeah, it's
an exciting matchup for us. And as a group, they've
got some players that can really be really damaging. But
if you can get on top of those players, I
feel like we can expose them. And you know, our
eighteen players versus their eighteen players. I hope that we
can get the job done.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Yeah. I have to mention the unicorn in the room.
The story seems to be building. I don't know why,
because it's been squashed or quashed already. Yeah, he get
called the unicorn a bit. It does a bit, Yeah,
especially when we first came back and talk about Luke
Jackson going back to Melbourne all that stuff. I know
you can't answer that question as such because you probably
don't know. But how do you block that out? You
do the squad block it out?

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Yeah, try not to read the news and papers. It's
just a whole speculation at the moment.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
I think we're all aware that we've got a job
to this week, and so does Luky, So he'll be
excited to get out there this week and put in
a good performance. And I mean we're all right behind him,
and it's just nothing really changes, Nothing changes at Clubland.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
But yeah, it's just the media.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
I'll probably continue to write stories all year, so we
can't really control what they write. But we're looking forward
to getting out of this weekend and just doing our
job twenty for.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Our news cycle.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Yeah, yeah, that's right. I've done with a lot of
slots to fill.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
All right, we'll bounce down. Is it two fifteen perth?
Time for the Giants game in Sydney? Will you be
you'll be watching it from here on the couch again.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Watching on the couch, all right, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Because you're not letting the coaches box anymore, especially without
weapons in your hands.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Exactly dangerous. I've got to calm down.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
I'll keep getting better quickly, kidd.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Ongoing recovery. That's good to see you.
