On today’s show West Coast Eagles player Elliot Yeo joined the guys in the studio. Last week’s bye didn’t stop a big week of news for the team and we got the inside scoop on Oscar Allen’s injury and Jeremy McGovern’s medical retirement. The guys wanted to know if West Coast were nervous to play number one team Collingwood this weekend. Elliot’s answer is surprising. Plus, Barra sent through a pic of Elliot from training and Lisa asked if we’d see him playing anytime soon?

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Well, good morning, good morning.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
It was a bye on the weekend for the Eagles,
but it didn't stop the club from being in the
news all week because a couple of big things happened.
Number one season over Frostcar Allen.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah sad, isn't it It is? Yeah, it is sad.
But yeah, look he didn't look too too well after
the game, Carlton game. He was quite sore. And then yeah,
he's been carrying a few other things as well, so
that they went in and cleaned a lot up.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
Really so okay, it.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Kind of helped him out a bit. So get ready
for next year.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Think and what about all the speculation about him next year?
Is he going to Brisbane?

Speaker 4 (01:05):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (01:05):
I have no idea, Yeah, I have no idea. At
the end of the day, Oscar's fantastic player, fantastic great captain.
If we can keep him that would be unreal. But
at the end of the day, like I know it,
football's are business now these days, and players sadly it's
a job and as yeah, exactly, it's a job. And

(01:27):
at the end of the day, like if you were
getting paid you know, an actually couple of hundred k
a year from you know, a competitor for example, you're
not going to say no.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
To be fair, people change their jobs every day and
they don't get booed, they don't get correct the first
day and then you jump and booing them.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
Yeah correct.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
But then on top of that too though, like where
and we've spoken about it previously, like where one contest
away from being done, you know what I mean, Like
you said Gov, like Sheppy, you know what I mean,
Like your one contest away from being for the rest
of your lifetop of thing and having to carry that
injury with you. So why wouldn't you try and make

(02:05):
most of it work?

Speaker 4 (02:05):
That brings us to our other big news. You're great mate,
your premiership teammatee oh, that's sad.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Sucky way to end what is an incredible career and
especially when games to go to two hundred.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
But unbelievable career.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Yeah, feel like it was felt for a while.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
He feel like I was heading in this direction for
quadaha ah inevitable.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
I think it was. Yeah, he's been struggling a fair
with previous ones and then this one. I was running
with him a couple of weeks ago, and he was struggling,
so deep down I think he knew, and like he
was kind of saying it without saying it as we're jogging,
which is really sad. I mean, three games short or
two hundred, you would have been happy to tick that off.
But also, like as we said, like health is wealth.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
At the moment, what's going to happen, How he's going
to be celebrated.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
We're not sure. I'm sure. I'm sure they'll do a
big thing. Yeah yeah, I mean there's one West Coast best,
so they have to do a pretty big thing.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
Maye, he's thirty three, you know, like a lot of
you blokes, you go where angels fear to tread. Yes,
and then you know, you've got to think about forty
three fifty three of those.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Little yeah, and even then, like he's busted these ribs
that many times as well, so it's not just the
head like his old body.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Yeah, yeah, he didn't play softly. No, okay, now a
Marvel Stadium on Saturday night for a five thirty five
bounced down against fabulous colleague.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
He's going to play the Pies.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Really, really, We're going to play Collingwood now, and the
Pies are red hot.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
They's got to be tough.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
Yeah, it is, it is.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
But it's a good little sort of check to see
where we're at as well. But I always feel that,
especially when we were going really well as a football team,
you'd play teams that are a lot lower than you
and for some reason like that, you'd get them and
that always just be you know, very close for majority
of the game, and that really really have a crack.
I think it's just your more focused as a team

(03:58):
going in because you know the position is really really good.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
If you've got nothing to lose, you've play correct, judge.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
So there's like an element of like you've switched on
mental I think mentally you more in the game sometimes yeah,
because you're like, oh, I need to be on here,
red hot because this is the best thing in the competition.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Well, nothing to lose, everything to gain, anything could happen. Meantime,
we were sent a photo yesterday by one Adrian Barrett
would if it would please the court, I'm showing Elliott
Exhibit A.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
I did say that what is that you look exactly?

Speaker 4 (04:32):
That's exactly.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
It's a picture of Elliott on the field really going
hard at training.

Speaker 6 (04:39):
So what is this?

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Do you do?

Speaker 4 (04:40):
That little sidekick thing?

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Is that the thing where you go the criss cross
cris crosses the It's like all training and all sport
it since time immemorial.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
It in netball, up and down the Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Nah, I actually kicked the football and as I've kicked it,
it ended up being a little bit short, so I
was like always going to get that.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Be happy.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
No, I wasn't happy with that. That was just like
a shock and kick. I was going to say another
word then, But.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
So Barrels snapped the photo was yesterday?

Speaker 6 (05:06):
Any different bar didn't snap that. He was there training, No,
so was yesterdays. He sends his minions, Yeah, okay, sends
his kids, So it was yesterday.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
Any different view. Yeah, it was a good day.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
I joined in some drills, so there's some progress, which
is great. We're getting there. We're getting there right now.
It's a matter of getting some Yeah, I can't wait
to get to get back. You can beaching you get back.
I hate running and I hate doing everything other than
playing football.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
You hate not being over that white line? Yeah, of
course correct.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
You look ready to go to meets?

Speaker 2 (05:49):
No okay.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Marvel Stadium five point thirty five bounced down on Saturday
night for Collingwood.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Good luck, he cheers
