Speaker 3 (00:29):
Hey, Hey Smiley, Hey youngie. I think I speak for
all Freemantal fans everywhere. They're getting excited. Are you getting
excited because you're almost back and.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
They're the man?
Speaker 3 (00:38):
I'm in the long, lonely rehabits nearly over. How are
you feeling, buddy, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Very excited.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
It has been pretty long, but yeah, it sort of
comes around pretty quick. When you're in rehab, you sort
of don't look too far ahead. You're just focusing on
your next session, and before you know it, Yeah, you're
almost back playing. So I'm looking really forward to getting
back and helping the team out.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
How does it feel, How does the actual injury feeling
the sight and can you explain to our people it's
a weird feeling isn't when you've got a hit top
gear and you just want to just test it out,
but you feel like you don't.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
You don't want to, but you have to.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Yeah, well it is interesting, but actually it is feeling
really good. And obviously I had done two hamstrings prior
to having surgery, and I reckon after surgery, I'm feeling
much more comfortable getting up to speed than I was
sort of before surgery, So that gives me a lot
of confidence. My strength numbers are the best I've been
throughout this year, and yeah, I sort of feel sort
(01:31):
of not in my mind when I'm running, which is
really important because yeah, sometimes when you come back from injury,
it's sort of hard to get out of your head
and you're thinking about your hamstring. But yeah, I feel
really confident in the muscle and yeah, now I'm just
focusing on, you know, getting my footy craft going and
getting better, getting ready to play footy.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Well, choose a bird, mate, You've got the Hawks this week,
Magpie is next week or the Eagles after that?
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Which one do you reckon? Is the game? Which bird
would you be?
Speaker 4 (01:59):
Fat? Well? Yeah, I was a Magplay supporter growing up,
so I'm going to go to the Maggies.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
G G Jeepers.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
That's also yeah, claiming the j's game you don't want
to miss.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
So that's the same for that.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Super sub mate, because I would be putting austraight in
and I have looked at the Peel to see if
they're playing the Perth Footy Club and we're not.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
So you could play welf if you like, because I don't.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Want you destroying us. But what do you reckon? Super
Sab Like five, he's done it, Jay has done it.
Surely Youngie does it.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Yeah, we'll have to wait and say. It's obviously the
medical team in jail's cold, but it has been something
that they've done in the past just to manage the load.
And I suppose to get someone back, and I suppose
getting back playing AFL footy while they're still it's building
up into full game. So yeah, I've still got two
big sessions this week and next week, so I'll be
(02:52):
focusing on them and then we'll see what JAYL wants
to do.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
So do you push?
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Do you say I want to play against Towthoron, or
I want to play against Collingwood or you just keep
star in the hands of the medical staff.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Yeah, I was saying I want to play against Sydney
or a couple of weeks ago, so yeah, I certainly
I've been pushing, but yeah, you've got to respect the
medical team's decisions. And yeah, I'm just a footballer who
wants to get back playing footy, so I'm always going
to be knocking on the door.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
He's the best.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
And you were in Sydney too, I saw you on
the ground, so you must have a match day role
as well, do you.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
I've been sitting in the coaches box probably the last
eight weeks, which has been helpful. They sort of came
to me after my injury and because it was long
term they sort of wanted to keep me engaged and
keep me involved in the group. And yeah, it's been
really beneficial. I've been sort of sitting with the midfield
coach and learning some things and I suppose when I
get back to playing footy it might help some of
those skill better off. Yeah, some of those skills I've
(03:44):
learned in the coaches box might be able to help
me just make decisions on the ground a bit better.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Hayden, there's been a bit of talk about John Amerson
there and the pressure that comes with being a young
key Ford As a team, how do you rally around
young players when they're really working hard but the goals
just aren't coming.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Yeah, it's a tricky one. Playing forward and kicking goals
is never been that easy. But I suppose as a
group we want to wrap our arms around him and
not put too much pressure on him because we know
that they all put a lot of work in on
the goalkicking and we just want to trust it on
game day they'll be able to get the job done.
And there'll be days when you know they'll miss goals
or there'll be big moments they might make the most
(04:22):
of them or might not. And I suppose we just
got to wrap our arms around each other and keep
supporting each other. And I mean, yeah, not put too
much pressure because there already is so much pressure on
our forwards and all our players to perform and play well.
And we just want to come to work and keep
getting better and keep having fun. And that's really important.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Speaking about pressure, what about Caleb Sarong and that tag
from James Jordan. If that was to happen again this
week against Hawthorne, say that bring Finn mcginnesson or whatever.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
What could the boys do? What should happen?
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Can the boys take the energy out of the tag
his body, make him think twice before he tries to
harass Caleb, you know, bumping when they see him or
block him, and what should happen?
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Yeah, there's a lot of things, and that's something we
spoke about yesterday and our reviewers. It's probably something that
we have handled well in the past, Like Caleb's been
tagged a lot, and we feel like Caleb's dealt with
the tag and we've supported him really well. When on
the weekend against Sydney, it's something we probably didn't do
well and they sort of came after him, not only
just Jordan, but the sort of the whole team. And
that's something that we can probably take a leaf out
(05:23):
of their book, is when there's a team target, we've
got to support.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Each other as a group.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
And yeah, this week, if that happens again, we're going
to be better prepared and more aware of how he
can help Caleb.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Mate.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
And before we go smiling, I got to say, and
it gets right up my nose. You guys won six straight,
right then you drop one game and it was a
close game and Sydney at the SCG, which is a
tough job.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
And then you hear what were the headlines?
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Frio is set once again to be the heartbreak story
of Finals footy justin longme're the coach most under pressure
to keep his job.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
What a load of bull What a load.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Of tripe that they would be cowering on with that
after do they know how hard it is to win
six in a row?
Speaker 1 (06:04):
It's like it doesn't happen in the AFL.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
So I know there's a lot of shows and things
got to be done, and the Victorians it's an easy target,
isn't it. But if it was ross Lyne, they wouldn't
be saying this. I'll give you the tip. Do you
get tired of that as well? Or just ignore the
outside noise as you guys call it.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
Yeah, well I don't even see that headline, so it
just shows where I'm at. I'd just sort of tune
out netflickers.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Yeah exactly.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
Yeah, they're always going to write things and yeah, you know,
if we win this week, they'll be singing our prayers.
So they're very up and down the media, and we
just got to sort of write our own story and
not listen too much to it, and we'll just take
care of our job and.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
They can do their it's bloody media. Victorian media were
straight media, no worries.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Victorian media, Hey the bear, thank you and go for you.
