Barra joined Clairsy & Lisa to break down a big weekend in sport. Freo fans were rattled after a shaky first half, but Barra never doubted the Dockers despite another injury to Hayden Young. Over at West Coast, things went from bad to worse, with Barra calling the Eagles “diabolical” and Coach Andrew McQualter losing his patience in the post-game presser. In netball, the West Coast Fever were handed a heartbreaking one-point loss by the Melbourne Vixens. Barra and Lisa also unpacked the Hungarian Grand Prix results. And in AFL drama, Hawks bad boy Jack Ginnivan was fined $1500 for flipping off Crows fans, later declaring on Instagram it was the “best coin spent.”

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's talk for we're the Madrian Barras, Hello barray Les,
so clerzy morning.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
I think Dockers fans went into yesterday's game thinking it's
a gimme yeah, and then they got a little bit
of a Navy Blue scare.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
The Blues did fire up. They did fire up big
time and it's particularly in the first half, and got
a big scare. It was a what's the word least foe?
It was a faux fear. Yeah, Like I actually never
doubted the boys, to be honest, I reckon.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
I did.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
What about you, Clercy. This is a new Dockers team.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
They find a way to win. Yeah, mighty thing is
you look at team like Geelong, maybe Colin good Brisbane
prep for finals, that halftime would not be four goals behind.
You know, I'm behind.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
The game be over, But I just I never thought
they'd lose. I honestly never thought they'd lose. I want
to put this on the record. This is a new
Dockers team. This is not you know, the what's what
was the flag? We had? Flag? And what was the
opposite of flagman?

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Or was dockery?

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I think, yeah, Doc is not that sky I reckon
that might have gone that matured last year.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
They were.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
That's right. They would have lost last year. They would
have lost that game last year, even maybe earlier this year.
But they've moved on. It's it's spectacular.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
It's been good since the Sydney lost a month ago.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Exactly, I reckon. They've stealed themselves. They're matured, led by
Jordan Clark, who was sensational.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
You have to be leading the Doorg up there with
Caleb to be he, don't.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
You, reckon? And the dog and then the unicorn is
Luke Jackson. He's living up to the nickname of the
unicorn can do it all. He was amazing. But how
how cold was it yesterday? But you didn't realize until
the end of the game. Maybe seven goals in the
last quarter. Warm job as a Doctors fan, but the
game stopped Jesus.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Cold.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
I reckon.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
We saw a preview of the Grand Final on Saturday
night really and Brisbane?

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Yeah, well, well Collingwood's on the slide, you know, so
there is a chance they could drop out of the four.
I actually did one.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I don't think that was a preview of the Grand Final.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Okay, no, I'm happy that's on we've got that on
record now. But I've just did a predictor, a ladder predictor,
and I had Collingwood sliding the fifth and playing fremantle
in the first imagine that at the mcg all specula.
We've got that on record now, at least let's go record.
What about Younge Wednesday coming in Tuesday?

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Yeah, Tuesday Wednesday happened.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Here going to handle that.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
I'm not going to handle it well, will hate young
coming in, suggested he might be.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
On the phone. You'll have to check out he's grin
because sorry, said to your job, because that's what's happened.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
You're a doctor, poor bugger.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
He got subbed out in the first quarter. It was
a bit precautionary. It didn't look bad, didn't look bad, but.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Well that's what you said. Close he was doing a lap.
He was walking after that, and he wasn't limping too badly.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Yes, having the cotton wall if it was too bad,
but you never know.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
I think you guys have the only interview with him
this week. So yeah, keep tuned in.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
And as Eddie mcguah used to say, a week's a
long time in foot. You're in the metal. One week
and they get injured the next.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Thing exactly, and the body does sort of let you
down sometimes, but it was so cold. Maybe maybe that
it helps or maybe didn't help, but.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
All right, let's get onto the Eagles. What can we say?
Open the fans out there quick like a band aid, quick, diabolical.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
All right, some of the let's I think they don't
want to talk about it.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Even the coach is getting a bit shirty because I
think he's because that now mathematically they've got.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
The wooden spoon again. I saw that stack com out.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Yeah, second time in three years. So as a senior coach,
you take the job somewhere.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
They can't get given while.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
They couldn't, but mathematically they can't.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Eat Henry was betting said, and technically right, they pour on.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Minnie McWalter. He's imagine in your first season, be like
taking over a radio station and just coming absolutely last
as the breakfast team, like behind six and R or something.
What else is the what else is it?

Speaker 4 (04:14):
You're in it.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Anyway? He is Mini Bigg losing his patience and just
just telling it how it is.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
Yeah, I think I do share of you, for sure.
We're not tough enough at all as a football club,
as a football team at the moment. So that's got
nothing to do with age. That's that's something that we
just can't accept.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Tough enough as a club.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Three times to go.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
You don't hear that very often. And the amazing bit
is that he probably thought when he came here, beauty,
I'll have brass McGovern Joey, Joey, Oscar Allen Waterman, how
goodly and nothing's at the moment. Actually they had ten
of the twelve youngest blokes on the ground, so you
can sort of understand a little bit. So you've got

(05:06):
to take that into perspective. Look what about the Fever.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
I took her there, ultimate disappointment for Fever fans.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Finish on top third and straight Now I'm going to
say this. I'm going to put it on the record.
The Fever finished Minor Premiere is the Vixen's finished fourth,
but the final was played at the Vixen's.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Home court because they sold their fans.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
In front of a record fifteen thousand crowd with biggest
ever in super netball, fifth biggest ever netball crowd in
the world.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
All the time, Fever fans flew over quite a few.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
There was a bit of a pence swayed through. There
wasn't it, but the Vixen's they fed off it and
our guys looked a bit sort of shaken. They just
couldn't get the ball to Janel. She shot fifty two
goals at one hundred percent. They just needed to get
it to it, but they couldn't quite reach it. So
they underscored and they didn't score enough goals and they
got done by one point a one goal, a heartbreaker.

(06:00):
Have a listen to jess Answers. She's the Fever captain.
This is how she felt about it after a Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
It's just pure gas station to be honest. Yeah, ID
to get the words out. They were outstanding today. We
didn't show as much as what we could out there,
and that's what's disappointing, is it. I just don't think
we've brought our game today and mixed sense. Student. We
got so close to down there and had those opportunities,

(06:26):
but yeah, just wasn't.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Just because class Yeah to actually speak, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Just don't know how. I know, you've got to've got
to make the money and sell the Grand Final. But
if there was played in Perth in front of the
Green Army. They would have won.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Just a spoiler alert. The following story will contain the
winner of the Hungary and Grand Prix.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
One Hall one Cube. Look Les, I love talking about
the Grand Prix because you are a fan, right and
you know, and you were watching and you saw how
it was very and Lando.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Second the car wasn't even across the line less than
a second.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
It was like oscar was coming and he just didn't
get there. And it was weird. So Norris's cut cutties
lead to nine points. Now, so they're both driving for McLaren,
and it was the weird thing least was it different?
Different strategy?

Speaker 3 (07:29):
You get a free one on the weekend. Did you
drive an orange car?

Speaker 1 (07:33):
If it was a McLaren, I could imagine you in
an orange.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
I would only do it for McLaren, like a Jaffer
pink with purple pok McLaren.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
I could see you in a black Lambo or something. Anyway,
So McLaren, different strategies for Lando and Piastres. So the
same garage, different strategies. Lando only pitted once, Piastre twice.
As it turned out he had the right strategy. So
you just wonder what he's going on there. I'd be
a little bit, you know, asking a few questions.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
What does one get to pick once and the other
one has to stop twice? How does that work out?

Speaker 1 (08:08):
I must now have teams on either side or are
competing against each other.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Because you know, I mean they're the same within the
same team, same team, you think that have the same
I know some cruise bits.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
That's the big question now. So anyway, so it's down
to nine points, so it's vertictite for the rest of
the season. I wanted to mention Hawk's bad boy Jack
Ginovan too. He got fined fifteen hundred dollars for giving
the bird to the Crows fans.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
Oh yeah, I saw that.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Actually, hows that the Eggles have to play the top
team this week like Crows they're on top. Now, that's
what he said, though.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
He was happy with it. He said best coin spence.

Speaker 6 (08:47):
Again sounds coin did verbally that's the Victorian term. Isn't
the coin coinage, it's doublet coin. It was worth a
fifteen hundred to give it to the Crows fans.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
And he was at the airport with the journalists and
refused to talk to her and anyway, So the World
Aquatics Championships is wrapped up. In terms of the swimming,
our girl Meg Harris, she won gold in the fifty
meter freestyle, which is quite remarkable. We've got a sensational
swimming team and this is all without Adiana Tipmas, so
she took it off right. So we actually came second

(09:20):
by one gold medal to the Yanks. We won eight gold,
six silver, with six bronze without our best Adian Tipmas,
just behind the United States by one gold. So really
we are flying. Our swimmers are absolutely flying. There's a
new superstar, Mollio Gallahan. So we're going beautifully and ahead
of all the big swimming events that are coming up

(09:42):
and then the Olympics. We're in a very very good position.
And congratulations to all our swimmers. The divings on now
they moved to the deep pool.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
You love the diving.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Anyway, Let's hope for the Eggs. They've got a hosting
Adelaide this weekend at Opta Stadium. Let's see how many
people turn out. Turn out. Fans support your team. It's
not that bad
