Speaker 1 (00:00):
We's talk sport with the matrim Barrage.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
When you've got to get work here, you've got to
get into work Blubber. Their eight trade stores are everywhere,
so when you need it, you can get it or
check out work clubber dot com dot.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
At you while you're indulging in hot cross buns at
easter eggs. Plenty of sport to watch over the long weekend,
Round six of the footy and here to tell us
more Aboutrow.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good morning, good a Smiley. Yes, it's a long, long
weekend of footy, my friend. For those of us who
work in it, not so great for people who've got
the days off.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Actually, you've got four days off to yourself, so you'll.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Be at opt the stadium tomorrow cheering on the eggs,
I'm sure.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
And the big question, will Tim Kelly be back on Friday?

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Barro, Yeah, it feels like you will.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I've got a vested interest there because if he doesn't,
he's playing against the Perth Footy Club and I'm the
president of Perth. So I've been telling h I've been
telling the coach of the Eagles, Minnie Mickwilda. May you
got to play him? You know you got spanked in
the midfield last week. Come on, hold him up, he's
too good to be out of us. Open two hours, right,
so the do let's start maybe with the Dockers though

(01:04):
the Docs. It's Saturday eleven twenty at the in Western Australia,
but they're at the MCG against the Melbourne Demons. I
think we spoke to Hayden Young yesterday about all that,
but it was so beautiful to see. He had forecasts
that they were going to train on the ground, which
hasn't happened for.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
About two years.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
So you just don't get out on the home of footy,
the sacred ground, you know, the cathedral that it is,
the vast cathedral. They had it all to themselves and
I heard Heath Chapin say it was.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Like you brought out our inner child. It was magnificent.
We loved it.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
You just grow up wanting to be out here. Zia
Dudley was walking around going, oh wow, looks like it
was Notre Dame or you know, or Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
You know when you look up at the roof and stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
I gotta say, Zion Dudley, he is so exciting to.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Watch it's brilliant. I'm hoping he hangs in there. Team there.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Murphy Reid was the other one. He played underage footy
at the g So you know what, it's so important
to that experience to make you feel comfortable at these
big grounds that you don't get to go and play
at very often.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Hopefully Movie can kick another four goals.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Exactly, And can I tell you it helps you play better?
And how is this right? We got Champion Data to
do a study and they're the official supply of the
stats for the AFL, and we told him to look
the twenty thirteen Grand Final. Okay, so it was Freeo
versus Hawthorne twenty thirteen Grand Final. Of course they lost,

(02:32):
and they say that Frio should have won the twenty
thirteen decider by a margin of six points.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
So based on the AFL's average with the shots that
they had at goal free I should have won. And
examining the distance and the angle of each shot that
they took and the perceived pressure the kickers under Champion
Data said the final scoreboard should have read Freemantle fourteen
ten ninety four to Hawthorne twelve.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Ten eighty eight.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
If only and this is the stuff that makes the
difference when they're training out there doing this sort of thing.
They kicked eight fourteen that day and Hayden Valentine, who'd
hardly been to the g had never been to a
Grand final, these first grand finals when he was in it,
you know what I mean. So he was zero and
four or something. You know, those sort of things that

(03:19):
make so much difference. So hopefully this makes the Free
team good too, would be nice. Absolutely, And you mentioned
the Eagles. Looks like Tim Kelly is going to play.
Looks like Guv's back as well. By the way, a
belated happy birthday to Gov. Yeah, what's his what is
he to say? I'm not sure.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Hopefully he's celebrating a big win. Frida and Eyeball.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yeah. And the history between the two clubs, of course,
is magnificent. It used to be the biggest rivalry for
West Coast. Now maybe Sydney and obviously the Derby is
pretty big. But the Bombers, you know when Sheedy started
it because Mick used to coach Jacket Mick. Yeah, Mick
Maldess coach the Eagles. Sheedy coach the Bombers. They were
former teammates from Richmond with a big rivalry, and even

(04:01):
when I was playing, I can remember I could see
how tense Mick was when we were playing the Bombers,
you know, And when he's tied down the wind sock
at Windy Hill in ninety ninety one. We went there
and he actually got someone to tie the wind sock
down so we couldn't.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Tell which way the wind was blowing. And Mix, sorry,
he's tied down the wind sock. I can't believe it.
I can't believe it. And he just put him off.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
He psyched Mick out right and we won that day,
by the way, but anyway, it didn't work for him.
Then the jacket waving, of course, you know, and then
the throat slashing gesture of Mitchell White, who hadn't done
anything wrong. He picked the wrong bloke. Nat knew he
getting his dreadlocks pulled by Zach Merritt.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
I don't remember that.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Don't touch the dreadlocks, can't touch the great Man's dreadlocks.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
So I'll be interesting to see you taking your jacket.
Would you be.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Swinging waving that jacket bearer? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Absolutely, we want to get in front first, Orgon, you
know what I mean, Really he could need your jacket.
You'll need your jacket all right. So who wins the
other game? So Brisbane? I think Brisbane tonight over Collingwood
at the Gabba.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
What a blockbust?

Speaker 2 (05:04):
I know, top four teams. You're saying that could be
a preview to the Grand Final?

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Who knows? Well?

Speaker 3 (05:08):
The Lines have won five in a row. The Pies
have won four in a row.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Hot, yeah, I think the Pies are coming again.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Carlton versus North Melbourne tomorrow and going Carlton Essenon obviously
over West Coast Ben Cousins. I tipped the Eagles on
the news last night, so that was great. Free over
Melbourne at on Saturday. And then I think the Giants
gold coat Sydney and the Bulldogs over Geelong at Hawthorne
against Hawthorne at home and talking about Hawthorne. So Willie

(05:37):
Rioli is a Premiership player for the Eagles, right. He
played against Hawks last weekend. He sort of taunted them
with the ball a bit during a game, got two kicks,
kicked two goals, got an extra free kick and then
after the match he posted on social media that he
hates Hawthorne and it wasn't just about what happened last year.
Took to Instagram and he said, my hatred for this

(05:57):
club goes way past last year's antics. What they did
to my dad and my brother talking about Cyril Rioli
his cousin is why I can't stand them. It's not
the players. And then his comments stemmed from his dad.
Willy Roly he played for South from an I played
against him, fantastic books. He passed away recently. He was

(06:19):
drafted by Hawthorne in nineteen ninety played one season, obviously
didn't have a great time there, and then superstar Syriel
Rioli obviously has clashed with Hawthorne since he retired. Anyway,
after he posted that on Instagram, the trolls they took
to social media, they attacked Willy. It was very ugly,
a lot of racist comments. And here's what Port coach

(06:41):
Ken Hinckley said yesterday in response to the attacks on
Willy Riol on social media.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
To disgrace the.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Racism that still goes on in our world.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
But with the way we talk about lots of things
in society and yet that is still tolerated and still
allowed to go on.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
There almost should be a law that makes people accountable.
I think it's an absolute disgrace.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yeah, well said, well said can Yeah, I think we're
backed that in for sure. And really, if I'm WILLI
I'm kipping my head down now. But let's hope he
just has a great season.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Good fellow about our heartbreaking news for Mary Fowler.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Yeah, huge news in football, in soccer and the Matilda's great.
She's wrecked her knees. She's actually ruptured or acl so
she needs a recon It's crazy off the back of
Sam Kerr having done that twelve months ago and just
starting to come back to footy now.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
She's been an amazing form.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Yeah and yeah, yeah she has.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
She's been killing it for Manchester City, been in really
sensational form. Which what does it mean for our Asian
Cup chances in ten months time? See the Asian Cup
is going to be in Australia. It's going to be
an amazing celebration of women's sport and women's football and
just football in general.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
And will she be able to make it back? So
that'll be the big question.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
I hope, so speedy recovery Mary, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Best wishes to her and I wanted to mention the
West Coast fever. They desperately need a win. This is
the now Netbork team there owe and too it looks
like they're going to get Janiel Fowler new pad back,
So she's at that superstar world absolute world's best shooter.
She'll be back shortly and I think she'll be back

(08:14):
for the round three clash with the Melbourne Vixens in
a couple of weeks time. So there's some hope on
the horizon there. The cavalry is coming over the hill.
I was a bit sad though, to learn that in
super netball. Have you seen at the end of the
game when I used to love it both teams. Blokes
probably wouldn't do this, but the women at the end

(08:35):
of the netball game, they'll get together in the center
of the ground in a huddle, in a.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Big circle, both teams.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
It's a ritual, yeah, in an act of camaraderie, sports personship,
you know, respect between the teams. And I think they
do hip hip Hip Ray Ray Ray, you know, like
so that's one of the captains calls that out. But
now they're saying that they think that's unprofessional. Why, yeah,
I know, I suppose.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
I thought it was a sign of sportsmanship.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. Does it does
it look straight to know? Anyway? People can make their
own judgment.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
But it's gone, they're not doing it anymore, which I
thought was great for the young girls coming through or
any young netballers around Australia watching it. That's what you
do with That's what it's once the game's over. Everybody's
friends again, but obviously not. You probably don't like each
other at the end of the game, let's hope. So
I have a great weekend, buddy,
