Barra was back in the building to chat all things sport. First up, Carlton fans are not happy after a diabolical loss against Port Adelaide. Freo Docker’s play The Saints this Sunday for the Purple Haze game and the guys ask Barra his thoughts on taggers. Bottom of the ladder West Coast will play top of the ladder Collingwood tomorrow night at Marvel Stadium. Barra predicts how that will play out. Keep your eyes peeled around town for The Matildas, they are playing four games here in WA with a solid win against Slovenia last night. Plus, the recent sale of Melbourne’s Waverley Stadium had Barra nostalgic, he took the guys down memory lane to the 1991 when the Eagles were in the grand final and Angry Anderson sang in a blue bat mobile.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's talk sport with the mad barrage. When you've got
to get work here, you've got to get into work blubber.
Their eight trade stores are everywhere, so when you need it,
you can get.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
It or check out work clubber dot com, dot at you.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Good morning, Barrow morning cry yay. Yeah, it comes around quick,
doesn't it. It's Friday, certainly quite good. Good to be here.
No rain today. It would be good to be playing
golf if you if you have the day off, but
you'd be wrapped up. Yeah, it's still a bit cold
out there.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Maybe not the plus falls.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Carlton fans won't be in a good mood day. Lisa
was diabolical last night. Diabolic. I really feel for the
Blues fans. There's so many of them who's played golf,
so it swings around.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah, fair enough.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
It's impossible to be depressed on a golf course. Yeah,
it is impossible. You just look at the Yeah, it's
just so good.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
You haven't seen my long game.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
You're in the bush all the time. One. Yeah, Carlton's
diabolical night at the foot they got pumped. It's Footy's
equivalent of Tom Cruise jumping onto Oprah's couch. It was
Cringey and the horrible and the poor old Blues coach
is an absolute legend of the game. And they should

(01:17):
have done it for him because he's under so much pressure.
But they hardly threw it. He kicked one goal in
the first half. I think it was thirty four to
three in the first quarter. It was over at quarter
of time. And the Carlton fans is so passionate, so passionate.
I think we've got some moredio over. Bloke who rang
the radio station at halftime, he put him may till
the end of the game. Guy Snap has gone missing.

(01:40):
I'm worried about Snapper. But this Carlton fan, he was
contemplating the unthinkable. Gray's called through during halftime evening. Andre
mate were well, yeah, well I'm not I'm not well
eight years old. I've seen nothing you can work like
to support.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
How are we stop? Our players are getting knocked in
the head.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
There, knocked in the head. There, No one's there, not
for each other. No, mate, you know what I am.
I'm so close to going for Collingwood. This is a coffeecats.
He could almost he almost couldn't say it. I might

(02:23):
join Collingwood choked, so shout out the snapper if he's
out there. And the club got graffiti last night as well.
There someone's painted all this rude words on the front
of the club. That's what it's like.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
It wasn't the old Johnny Elliott.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Was it? Mate? He be devastated. But that won't happen
to the Dockers.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Someone's put sack the board on the keep voss the board.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
It's just come up and tell you shaming Docers purple
Haze game Sunday. That won't happen to the Dockers. To
payback time Clearzy trying to thump ross lines Saints remember
that round eight embarrassing list ten goals. I don't care
if they bring wind Hager against Caleb's the wrong or
you know, whatever they're going to do. I reckon Tagers.

(03:14):
I can't stand taggers. And I bet you Caleb if
he was honestly say the same thing. It's just because
all they do LEAs is follow you around and pull
your jumper and push you over and try to punch
and pinch Liberatories. Yeah, they pinch, They love pinch. They
do that. Well, he was a pincher and Ryan was
a pincher too, and a nipple cripple.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Hold on your jumper.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Yeah, they would, they would. That's horrible, get close enough,
they would. The cold day, I hope you're talking about us.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Least little up, at least little upper cut and the
narries bloody hurts. It stops you from the next contest.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
I used to talk to him. Aren't you embarrassed? You
just follow me around, go and just get a kick,
run free. Your Larry Loser said that they're frustrating. Look
out for a little Matias two. Are you working the game? Yeah?
So the little he's leading the boys out, the little
fellow who's been unwell. He's docker three day talking about

(04:08):
him the other day? Was he so beautiful? Charlotte Foundation, Eagles,
Collingwood tomorrow night, Marvel. Look, it's one versus eighteen and
never in the modern era has the bottom team beating
the top team. So it's a bit of history. He's
gonna happen. It's like nothing happened, but seventh debuty Job Shanahan.

(04:29):
And this is classic. At training, the way the coach
told him about it was he said to him, amongst
all the boys have these kicking for gold contests afterwards,
and Minnie says to job Shanahan, if you kicked this,
I reckon, I'll play you this weekend. And so lines
up real nervous and kicks it and all the boys
charging and he actually was playing anyway. It was like

(04:49):
a stunt. So good for the good for to see
this young kid coming out. They're flying out right now.
Actually they're at the airport right now because they're going
a day later. Because you just try anything different. It's
only one day in Melbourne before the game instead of
two like normal. When one day I'll tell you all
the things crazy stuff we used to do trying to Yeah,

(05:10):
I want to hear some travel, you know what I mean.
Like we stayed on Melbourne on Perth time at one stage.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Oh yeah, just don't change your watchings.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Yeah, I played a night game, so we got up
at midday and to bet at midnight. Anyways, I could
go on wearing crazy singlets and it was unbelievable, sniffing
stuff on our arms. First. Might have to pre records
a bit later on. I take that bet. Be careful

(05:38):
in trouble already quickly on the cricket, changing the subject.
First first Test in Barbados on a nice edge. Australia
risk of suffering their first defeat test of feat since
two thousand and three in the West Indies. So we
never lose that. We're four for ninety two. It stumps
the lead of eighty two. Sam Constance, Usman, No Good,

(05:59):
our Man, Cam Green and Josh English both struggled as well,
so we'll see how that goes tonight. How good is
it to have the Matilda's that Tilly's in town and
when I say in town, they're here for a long time.
They got four games, three games at HbF Park, one
down in Bunbury. There was one last night in front
of a big crowd and it was almost a perfect
start for the new coach, three nil over Slovenia who

(06:23):
are ranked thirty eight in the world and we are
ranked fifteen. And it was nice to see Sam Kerr
there as well. I think I told you guys she
was coming over, so she was signing autographs and still
super popular with the fans. Another game on Sunday at
HbF Park and then Bunbury and then back to HbF
par for a fourth game. So nice to have. I

(06:44):
think there's still one of Australia's most popular teams. Just
going by the numbers of people turning out and there's.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Eight thousand plus in the cold last night.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Then yeah, and it inspired so many, so many young
girls to play soccer. Yeah, it's just booming in that
sport now that the Perth Heat. This is really strange.
They announced this week that they were they were shutting
up shop. That's it about enough for out. I don't
know if it was a tactic or whatever, because then
Baseball Australia stepped in to save them and said no, no, no,

(07:15):
they're playing next year. It's all sweet. So I'm not
gonna where it'll land. But you remember Greg Jelks, Yeah,
Liam Hendrix.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
And parry Field.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Parry Field, that's right now they're aut in Thornley. Now.
I wanted to mention this at least remember that famous
footy ground in Melbourne called Waverley and they built it
in a rain belt the Victorians honestly a stadium in
a rain belt out That wasn't Windy Hill, was it.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
That was.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Waverly Mount, Waverley Windy Out, Yeah, yeah, yeah. And we
played the ninety ninety one Grand Final there, we the
Eagles against Hawthorne. We got beaten, but who cares anyway.
I wasn't playing, so I was able to observe all
the pre match and postmatch in halftime entertainment, I happened
to be out there. One of the most infamous moments

(08:05):
in Australian sports history.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
So memorable.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Angry Anderson's performance when he's saying bound for glory supposed
to be inspirational emerging from that light blue batmobile. Angry memobile,
it was actually a Ford Capri. Yeah, I look like
it had been made by a year nine. Wouldwork class?

Speaker 2 (08:26):
I think it had.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
It was that bad. He came second. Who came up
with a light blue blatmobile anyway?

Speaker 2 (08:36):
So don't get that as a Christmas pageant fo seventies?
Would you?

Speaker 1 (08:41):
She would have been in our Christmas pageant. It's in
a museum somewhere and decas Deacon's put he's handed over
the mic and he's laughing, and there was technical problems,
Let's be honest, and it was poor sound quality. That
crowd couldn't hear the lyrics. Let's let's catch a bit

(09:02):
of it.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
AT's relive its victory, Rose tattoos fans and going off angry.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
The most austrained ever. He did his best. He went
forever to the whole song la and the batman Bill
was going really slow. I looked so stupid. Jeff Fennix's
face was priceless.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
In the ANFL. Gill in the NFL needed a new
thing for us to laugh at. That's why they hide
local those years later.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Yeah, still better than meat. My favorite moment was fighting Harada.
You guys probably haven't heard of him. He was the
guy that fought Lionel Rose. We was there too. This
blog from Japan was there. He's going, what the hell
has gone? Very confused and we were getting pounded the
Eagles at she was only ten points at half time.

(10:09):
We probably should have won. So and Swampy Marsh was
out there with an Eagles scarf on and now he's
a big docker. So so the ground's been sold. It
has been sold. It's going to be no. I think
they're turning it into apartments and stuff. Yeah, as you
would out and around rain belt in Melbourne.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
The lands very valuable, but angry.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
It sounded like he was caught between he was fighting
the song and a leaf blower or thanks guys, thank
you for letting me go down memory
