Adrian ‘Barra’ Barich dropped into the studio to chat all things sport. First up, the Dockers rose for Sonny Walters in front of a strong 50,000-strong crowd in what felt like a historic turning point for the club, something has definitely shifted, something’s clicked. With Hayden Young set to return, all eyes are now on their big clash against Collingwood this Sunday. Do they have a chance? Barra thinks it's on. The Eagles showed promise, playing great footy for three quarters, but still couldn’t quite put together the full four. Off-field, Barra had a laugh about getting lip readers involved in on-ground banter after recent controversies. Wimbledon is wrapped up, and the West Coast Fever continue their winning streak.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's talk sport with Adrian Barrage.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
When you've got to get work here, You've got to
get into work Clobber. Their eight trade stores are everywhere,
so when you need it you can get it or
check out work clobber dot com dot at you.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Oh, very good morning, and what a week in a
footing morning, Smiley, How good was it? What a great
weekend for our local teams, the Dockers they rose for
sunny Saturday night at Optus. You were outside walking off
dinner and as the vibe, what the vibe was so good?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
The Frio boys are back in business.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Fifty thousand were there, came rocked up to see the
big send off special. It was special, as Bruce would say,
as special. It wasn't just an important win either. It
was a statement. It was family.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
It was the vibe.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
It was justice for Justin. I don't know what it was.
It felt like a mini final. And mate, did they deliver,
you know, full of heart and guts, massive one hundred
and three tackles, the season record. Andy Brayshaw nothing short
of her to see him at the end of the game,
bloodied and battered, and I thought he'd had purple blood
come out of his body, but his ears red and

(01:08):
it was just coming down his face on live on television,
which I thought was a bit unusually, looked like Braveheart
or something.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
I haven't seen so much blood since Braveheart.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
And then Sonny mate carried off by Freddie and Bolts
embraced by Nat five.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Only he choked up when I saw.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Five him A lot of love in my house, oh
mate in Sonny looks shell shocked too. It's like he'd
faced his mortality now his footy mortality realized.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Hang on, this is the end, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Nine games, three hundred and sixty five goals.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
I'm going to miss the I'm going to miss the finals.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
It was a moment that will go down as one
of the most touching and free our history.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
In my opinion, I reckon.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
It feels like a turning point for the club, not
just for the season, but in their history. Something has shifted,
something's clicked.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
I feel that. I hope I'm right. Yeah I did.
And this was real Freeo too.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
You know, you know that Ports City with their calloused
hands and their big hearts and they're never say die spirit.
It was old Freemantle, so fantastic. Next up Collingwood at
the mcg on Sunday, and that could be their defining
moment because you know, I reckon they're a chance.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Well if they keep playing like Friday night, you look
out Colin.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
I know, and Colin would coming off a loss that
they'll be pretty fired up. But Hayden Young will be back,
probably Alex Pierce, so yeah, damn Sam oh yes, Switter,
three gals, fantastic, best on ground probably and the Eagles
they were good for great for three quarters. They they
really hung in there and they were touched by that
late withdrawal of Jack Graham for a homophobic slur last

(02:42):
week against the Giants, So it took a week to
sort out. Even flew over the team and then they
got a decision. They said you're out for four weeks.
You can't play the coach. It was a bit hard
for Mini after the game, because of course, the first
forty five questions were about Jack Graham, not about the footy,
and he did get a bit frustrated, but he sort
of explained where the club sat about it.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
I heard a bit on the news.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Here's the end of the press conference of the last
three or four minutes where he sort of decided, you.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Know, I've had enough of this and got a bit frustrated.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
So Jack clearly made a mistake, owned his mistake. Jack's
a really good person. I've known him for a very
long time. This is a this is an error on
Jack's behalf, and he understands that it doesn't align with
the values of our club.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
It was a strong message for me. He owned the mistake,
but don't forget the person.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yeah, that's right. And he recruited Jack and he knows
him from Richmond. So yeah, So West Coast they gave
the power and Almighty scared. Harley Reid was best for
West Coast.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Harley was outstanding.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
He gave away a few free kicks.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
But but his clash with Port star Jason horn Francis
is going to be talking about for a while, because mate,
I have got out the what do you call those
guys who can see what you're saying?

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Oh, cleve boys, No, not no, I can read your lips.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
I've got I've got a lip reader in and because see,
horn Francis was originally drafted to North Melbourne number one,
and then halfway through the year he said I don't
like it he want to go home.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
I'm homesick.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
So he went home, of course after a year, whereas
Harley looks like he's going to hang here for a
couple of years. So apparently Harley reminded Jason horn Francis
about his homesickness and his need to be near his family,
and I think he said something this is what the
lip readers reckoned. He said something like, you ran back

(04:28):
to your mom after one year. Ah, and I like
sleeched him about. And then horn Francis kicked two goals.
Whi's won two good but it reminded me of Wusher
at the Whacker. Do you remember that day when we
beat Collingwood in a final and eliminated him and he
got stuck in the Mick mcguon about dropping a mark.

(04:49):
You've dropped the bloody gram final mate anyway. So the
Gold Coast Sons too. They stood a remarkable Collingwood come
back on Friday night, so yeah, that's right. They look
like they'll probably play finals now for the first time ever.
And the Pies were They only kicked ten straight behind
no goals, so they'll never do that again.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
A man from seven years Adrian Barratt's Bar talking sport
on this Monday morning in Firth.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Yeah, Wimbledon has been decided. The men's final was on
last night and Sinner is the Saint Janick Sinner producer.
It was a masterpiece. Actually, his fourth set was incredible.
He just rolled over the top of Carlos Alcaraz. The
winner is Sinner, Yes, the winner is Sinner. And he
because Roland Garross. Of course he got he got fixed
up by al Karaz in a bit of a shock

(05:32):
and sort of result.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
So but this rivalry, it's the new big rivalry.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
It's going to be like Borg versus Macenroe and you know,
any of those other modern greats. He can talk about
first Italian to win Wimbledon, so reader will be very impressed.
A bit different in the women's final, though, it was
a record low eager swon deck demolished Amanda Anissimova, she's
from America.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Actually was six love, six loves.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
So it was the first double bay as they call it,
since nineteen eleven, so one hundred and fourteen years. No
one had been demolished like that in a women's final
six love, six love. But she gave a beautiful shout
out to her mom. She was so good because she's
been through so much drama, mental health, lost to dad,
you know, and just fought back. She's still a young woman,
but it was a beautiful moment with a mom my.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
Mom's put in more work than I have.

Speaker 6 (06:22):
Honestly, guys, I'm so sorry I who were worried.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
Sorry, Now My mom is the most selfless person I know,
and she's done everything to get me to this point
in my life.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
So yeah, oh, what a touching tribute to her mom.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Everyone everyone loves their mom, so she that was after
her loss, of course. Now the biggest team in Western
Australia at the moment is the Green Army. They came
out last yesterday as well, twelve thousand at rac Arena
for the West Coast Fever. They pumped the Vixen's by
eleven goals, so they've rolled into the big major semi
final next Sunday at two o'clock at rac Arena. Tickets

(07:16):
go on sale today. But just an amazing atmosphere wins.
They are unstoppable, sensational, So I think, I mean, you
hate to say it, I think they're going to go
through and win it quite easily. But anyway, you never should,
never should say that there's cricket on at the moment,
is still going on because a day night are in Jamaica.
So the wind he's got out for one hundred and
forty three very modest. In the third test, Scotti Boland

(07:37):
came in. He knocked out Nathan Lyon the goat the
goats out of the team.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Scottie Bowland.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
They played four quicks he took three for thirty four
and just moments ago Sam Constance got another duck, so
he's struggling, the poor young man and the other great.
This is the other great women's team I wanted to mention.
Now coached by footy legend Robert Wiley, the Perth Footy
Club waffle W.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Team the second win on the weekend.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
No expansion team has had one win littlone two wins
Smiley and.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
Two wins and rising.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
They have done it.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
The demon skills, so congratulations to them. An amazing team.
The waffle W women's team for the per Footy Club.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Go the Demons bear always a pleasure and we'll catch
you again tomorrow with Elliot from the West Coast Eagles
