Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're talking sport with Annah.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
We've got some things to talk about.

Speaker 3 (00:04):
That a nice we did, Dockers getting a win they
so desperately needed.

Speaker 4 (00:08):
Yes, I've got a bit of a pep in my
step this morning. Massive confidence boosts. So one hundred and
seventeen to forty eight, that is their highest score under
Justin long Muir thrashing.

Speaker 5 (00:21):
It was a thrashing well donesh.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
Hawthorn and they needed it for confidence of course for
their run to finals if they get there. I think
also there was a lot of individual really impressive performances.

Speaker 5 (00:34):
So we saw Andrew Brayshaw.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
He did have that knee you know, awareness injury throughout
the week and he said, well throughout the season actually
and he said for the first time this week he
was feeling pain free. And you could tell when he
played on Saturday night that it was the old Andrew.

Speaker 6 (00:52):
The big numbers, were they thirty seven disposals and huge numbers. Yes,
Mike's tackles, eight tackles.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Goals, so he was at his And then of course
Luke Jackson as well. We call him the Unicorn, and
I can see why now he was fabulous and just
so long you're.

Speaker 5 (01:08):
Set after the game.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
You can't expect recruits to come in and necessarily gel
with the team straight away and play at their best.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
You have to give them time.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
And it's the same as Jago a mirror, and it
seemed like on Saturday night something clicked between them and
we got the best out of them. So it was
I think the Doctor should be really pleased with that performance,
so I'm sure they will be. It's a confidence boost
and they really really needed it.

Speaker 6 (01:35):
Something like eleven goal kickers as well, which is always promising.
You're not relying on two or three players.

Speaker 5 (01:40):
To kick them all exactly.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
And we know that their forward line hasn't been their
strong so this season they are lacking a little bit
of that forward height, I guess, and they found it,
so yeah, really promising signs there. Hopefully they can continue
that throughout the season.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Now.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Game there was lots to talk about in that five.
How much of an impact did he end up having?
How long did you play for?

Speaker 4 (02:05):
So he came on in the third quarter as the
sub Okay, it was quite remarkable.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
When he ran out. The cheer from it was a rule.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
From dying to see him.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Absolutely dying, and then he got an uncontested mark and
the commentator said, that is the biggest raw we've heard
all night, and he just took an uncontested mark. So
that's just people are so excited to finally see him
out there, and he got through unscathed.

Speaker 5 (02:33):
In round one he only played forward.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Yes, this week he played a mix in the mid
and forward and it seemed to really work quite nicely.
So justin Longmre, I think he's going to use that
up his sleeve, that he is so versatile. Teams won't
know where he's going to play and hopefully get the
best out of Five because Long you're set afterwards, they
want him to succeed. Yeah, and I think they did

(02:56):
really get the best out of him.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
So goaliekick was like Hayden Valentine and of old.

Speaker 5 (03:01):
How good was it?

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Zipped across and the crowd went nuts.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
Nuts it was. It was really nice to see five
do so well.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
So playing Devil's advocate for it, they.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Did play for Hawthorne.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
Yes, I know, I know.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
No officially at the bottom of the ladder and it
is not an easy run for Free Metal from here
leading up to the mid season.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
By no, it's not, but I mean they have lost
to North Melbourne and their win over West Coast was
not exactly impressive, so Hawthorne, I mean it was still
a win.

Speaker 5 (03:32):
I'm just gonna it's still still it was a big win.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Yeah, But they are I mean, Hawks are on the
bottom of the ladder and they do have a really
tough run from here. So they've got Sydney at the
SCG next week, then Geelong at OPTAs, then Melbourne at
the MCG. I think if they want a go at finals,
they do need a win two.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
Out of those three upset.

Speaker 6 (03:55):
There were chances against Sydney, but Sidney were pretty competitive
against Collingwood.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Yesterday they were and I don't know about the others,
so it's going to be interesting. But I think, yep,
if they want to, you know, show the competition that
they are at chance, they really need to win two
of those out of three.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Anna the Eagles do. Oh, there was a little formal,
was it? The Eagles? The Eagles do? Oh? The Dockers
a thank you?

Speaker 5 (04:21):
They do?

Speaker 3 (04:22):
They do because of the fact that the Dockers thrashed
Hawthorn that gave them that percentage difference they needed to
get off the.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Bottom of the ladder.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
Yeah, so there now seventeenth.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Which is always going to be better than eighteenth, but
always a disappointing day. And another I mean, how many
injury tricks can they take. I don't know, another major
injury blow. I don't think they can take anymore. So
poor Ji Cully.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Scans have confirmed the very very very worst.

Speaker 5 (04:52):
He did rupture his ACL.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
So, oh that's what's that like? Season?

Speaker 5 (04:56):
That is season eight. So he's out for the season.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
And you could tell not only his disappointment, but Simpson
at quart of time actually went up to him and
kissed him on the head and gave him because it's
it is devastating for them. He's like, yeah, he's such
a young player. He I really rate Jack Cully. I
think he's great, and I think it's a big loss
for the Eagles, especially when they're when they're so short already.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
But it is devastating.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
And in his post match press conference Simpson, someone said, oh,
you seem a bit down, Simo, and he said, well, yeah,
I've just lost a player that's a good kid. Really yes, so,
and you know he was he works so hard. So
now he's going to have to spend the rest of
the season on the sidelines, rebuild that knee and acls.

(05:45):
Once you do an a cl you are at risk
and they do tend to. Yeah that's good. Horrible, I
know so. And not only that. It was the eagle
sixth consecutive loss, but there was some improvement. It took
them thirty eight seconds to get a goal through Jack Petricelli.

(06:06):
There was quite fast, a lot of handballs through the middle,
so there was some improvement. It definitely wasn't the shellacking
they got from the Blues.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Yeah, yeah, so.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Yeah, some improvement, but again just devastating for Jiye Cully
and Eagles fans who literally can't take.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
A break sometimes when everything starts to go wrong like that,
just everything goes right.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
It's like dominoes and that it is like a domino
of Yeah.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
What do you think about Peter Summach having a crack?
I mean he has a crack. That's his job right
to have a cracket players on occasion. But about saying
about Jack Darling said he nearly gave him a zero
and yeah it should be dropped and all that kind
of stuff. Do you think it's a bit harsh Darling?
Zily kick what five hundred goals?

Speaker 5 (06:45):
It is?

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Harsh.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
I mean, Darling certainly hasn't had the season that he
probably would have liked. Oscar Allen has really stepped up.
So lucky we've got Oscar Allen. I think Peter Simmage
that's his role is to come out and be quite harsh.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
And one one.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Stage he gave Luke Jackson I think a zero for
his performance and I didn't think it was.

Speaker 5 (07:06):
Close to a zero.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
So but that's you know, he's a ser Yeah, he's
a bit cane Gornsey yep. And then hopefully Darling will
come out next week and kick five yeah yeah.

Speaker 6 (07:16):
So it doesn't mean, it doesn't mean many to get
past the five hundred micro which is incredible than three.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
Undred, ah incredible, So hopefully it's that little bit of
you know, spark he needs to get him going.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
All right, enough of football then, in that case, as to.

Speaker 5 (07:29):
Me, had enough, Car, I had enough, Lisa, I was.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Actually thinking of everyone else who does don't want to
hear any more bad news about the Eagle. There was
the usual drama at the Miami Grand Prix overnight.

Speaker 5 (07:41):
There was Lisa, were you up at three am to
watch this?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
I am up at three am watching what a stupid
question matter having.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
A boarding shower.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Well, I'm up at about twenty past.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
Yeah, yeah, so you could have. You could have watched.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
I could have got up just that little bit earlier
to be surprised. I like the Grand Prix, do you.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
There is something about the combination of the car sounds
and the guy's calling the race that puts me into
a bit of a meditative state.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
Meditative state listening to loud cars.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Yeah, kind of car sound. I like it.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
It is pretty grunty.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
My housemate used to watch it at one am and
it used to drive me mad.

Speaker 5 (08:23):
It did not put me to sleep. I'm not meditating.
It actually infuriated me.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Mosquitos, Oh, I have it just the right volume? Yeah?
What zero three or four?

Speaker 5 (08:39):
But anyway, drama, yes, drama.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Well it wasn't too compared to what we have seen.
But Max Verstappen, he really is something else. He started
in ninth position, so he was nowhere near poll and
he went on to win, so.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
He's almost unbeatable. Is pretty good, isn't he?

Speaker 5 (08:57):
And I love watching him drive. That is one thing
I do love.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
Yes, he's fearless, so aggressive, He's so aggressive, he is
not afraid of Anything, and his teammates Sergio Perez came
in second. So Red Bull are definitely on top there.
They are the team to beat. They're unbeatable in my eyes,
but they are the team to beat. And poor Ossie

(09:21):
Oscar Piastre came in nineteen tyro. I would just love
to see him, you know, shoot up that ladder board,
but it's just not happening at the moment. But yeah,
so Red Bull, it's the fourth time this season they've
finished one and two, so I think it's theirs for
the taking this year. I'm just sad that Hamilton has

(09:43):
just lewis really struggling. I think Drive to Survive. I
don't know if you've seen that show. Okay, well you should.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
If you like the sound.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Zero of any sort of like, I'll check it out.

Speaker 5 (10:02):
Yeah it is you.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
You will when you wake up at three am to
come from ratio, you will be watching it because after
watching that documentary, it has converted everyone to Formula One's
pretty special.

Speaker 6 (10:14):
It is.

Speaker 5 (10:14):
I'm glad that you were the.

Speaker 6 (10:16):
Maker one both incredible and can I say, without being
patronizing to my teammate here this morning at four forty
this morning, right, Lisa Shaw told me something I did
not know hawthorn or the bottom of the ladder right,
and Lisa goes, I know, I know stuff.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
I was very impressed.

Speaker 5 (10:32):
We're teaching you.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
I know stuff. I knew stuff already.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Stuff And she picks, how did you know that it
was good?

Speaker 2 (10:38):
I was impressed you just way thet I'm full of surprises.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
Keep surprising me every week.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Yes, that is my mission this year.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
It won't be the first time. I'll say l Shaw
three votes this season.

Speaker 5 (10:50):
I'm going to throw a question at you next time.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
How much Youking Sport at ninety six of him
