Speaker 1 (00:00):
Great to flick with ben o'she.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Well, chronicling the greatest bromance there perhaps has ever been,
Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds ben O'shay, good morning, good morning.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
I think our bromance rivals. There's let's be honest, but yeah,
look on screen and off screen, these two best buddies.
They have been ever since they filmed X Men Origins
Wolverine like a bunch of years ago. Hugh Jackman was
the executive producer of that film. It was kind of

(00:34):
his big standalone franchise moment, and he cast a young
Ryan Reynolds.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
As a character called Deadpool. No one really knew who
Deadpool was. The character was a huge hit with fans
because he's, you know, this wise cracking, sort of ultimate
warrior type. But the way the character was treated in
that film was a big departure from how it is
in the comic books, Like he's big star of the
comic books. In the film, he was just kind of

(01:02):
like a side note, this little cameo and ends up
getting his mouth sewn shut, which the fanboys hated because
his wise cracks and jokes are kind of the best
thing about the character. Now, fast forward, years and years later,
they're reunited in Deadpool and Wolverine. In the meantime, off camera,
they've become best buddies. They lived just around the corner

(01:24):
from each other in New York, also just around the
corner from director Sean Levy, who Ryan Reynolds worked with
on Free Guy. So these gang of buds have all
got together and thought, Okay, let's make a third Deadpool movie.
How can we make it different? And this is the
first one that's under the umbrella of Disney because Disney
bought twentieth Century Fox, who'd made previous two films and Marvel.

(01:48):
Disney never made an R rated movie before, and so
Deadpool is a US R rated film famous for being.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
How should we put it diplomatically, A little colorful. I
guess it's a bit it's a bit risky.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
And so no one really knew how this was going
to go.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
But I can tell you it's a success.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
Yell, okay.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
People seem to be very positive about it. Oh yeah,
Like I can't.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
I can't go into too much details because some of
the fun of this film is making all of these
discoveries yourself. There are so many references to Superhero movies
to the old X Men movies. But you're talking like
there is some deep, deep cuts in here. So if
you're a hardcore fanboy, you'll just be frothing the whole film.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
If you're a casual observer, maybe it might be casual.
It might test test your knowledge a little bit crib notes,
and it probably.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
If you don't like supermovie superhero movies, this is probably
not the film that's going to change your mind.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Okay, now you Okay, so we don't want you to
say too much about the movie, but tell us about
meeting them and interviewing the buddies.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, So I was I was very
lucky to get to go to Soul Career to sit
down with Ryan and you and chat to them about
the film. And what struck me straight away was, you know,
their friendship is just so natural. They finish each other's sentences,
and it's also a real, genuinely warm friendship. Like one

(03:23):
of them asked them about, you know, making that first
movie all those years ago, and Hugh Jackman told this
story about what a professional Ryan Reynolds was and how
he wanted to reshoot a scene because he thought he
could do it. Better, and then Ryan Reynolds sort of
interrupts him and he goes, oh, hang on a minute,
you are downplaying that like you were the one who
gave me the space to do it again, even though
everybody had wrapped.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
For the day. You gave me, You gave me space. Yeah.
It's one of those things.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
No, no, no, you.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Are no, you are really no really sincerely.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Yeah, so I love you more.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
It's kind of one of those. He really was a bromance,
but also they're hilarious.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
They play off each other so well, and you see
that in the film.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
But the basic plot is that, you know, Ryan Reynolds
is Deadpool in the last movie, gets control of a
time travel device right at the very end, sort of
brings his girlfriend back to life, a does a few
little things, messes around with the timeline, comes to the
attention of the Time Variance Authority, this sort of intergalactic

(04:21):
organization that guards the sacred Timeline and the way things.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
To the TVA.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
Anyone who's seen that the Disney Plus series Loki knows
all about it, and it's run by Matthew McFadden from Succession,
which is pretty fun. And they kind of find Deadpool
and say, look, you know, we think you're destined for
greater things.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
All you have to do is let.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
Your world cease to exist, because it's kind of you've
broken all these rules. But we think you're great, you're
worth saving. And part of the reason is, you know,
the Wolverine on your planet died, which, if you've seen
the twenty seventeen movie Logan, which is amazing starring Hugh Jackman,
that was kind of the official death of the character,
like it was final Deadbury.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yeah and so and.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
So Deadpool thinks, you know, he can either take the
glory and become one of the universe's greatest heroes, or
he can kind of turn his back on that plan
and try and save his world by traveling through the
multiverse and finding another version of Wolverine who's willing to
help him.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Of course, that's what he.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Does, and that's how that's how we get Wolverine back
from the dead.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
They do it on Days of Our Lives all the time, exactly, exactly.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Yeah, yeah, so you either have to you either have to.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
Have watched all the Marvel.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Movies or watched a few episodes of Days of Our Lives.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Yes, then all right, well, how many of you, mate,
I really do you? Are you giving it?

Speaker 1 (05:48):
I'm going to give it. I'm going to give it
four and I'll tell you what you don't believe some
of the cameos.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
Okay, I'm not going to give anything away, but you
know talking some of the.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Biggest star in Hollywood make appearances in this film. It's
very cool, okay.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
And there's Ryan's Rix and Mate. Welcome to Rex and Mate.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Rob mcleenny get does he need to be jealous because
these two are as well the.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
Only one who doesn't appear in the film, Okay, so
he might be a bit dark about it.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
The best buds, all right.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
I praise Deadpool and Wolverine. Thank you, Ben. And I
can't tell you how jealous I am that you went
to Soul you were to see you to interview Hugh
Jackman and Ryan Reynolds.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Your life went to day. Yeah, I bet you worked
out in the gym with them.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
Too long with you guys,
