The very funny Bob Downe joined Clairsy & Lisa in the studio ahead of his Choose Bob, 40 Ridiculous Years Tour which is at The Regal Theatre. Bob told the guys why you're going to hear 30 songs that will make you clap and sing-a-long plus he told them about the time he met The Queen and made her laugh.

I think if they My rule with this show least
was that if they didn't clap along or sing along,
it wasn't in the show, because I didn't want to
do the greatest Hits show. You know, if I have
to sing yeah, yeah, or I will survive one more time,
I'm sorry, I'll check you. And so I thought, I
know what I'll do. I'll sing thirty classics from the
eighties that I've never sung before. And they had to

bloody learn them.

And so the trick is they've got to be able
to sing along, hum along, clap along. That's my rule.
So they're all in there. It's classics.

Big Nicky and you know that other one. She's better

So I do a double speed version of reminiscing. And

it was late, I was walking home. We got down

I've got a fabulous music director, Bev Kennedy playing the keys,
and I've got my I've got a nepo nephew that
because you've got to pass the torch, you know what
I'm saying. And so he's in the show, my neo nephew,
Philip mccrevis. And he's the remarkable young man, not so young,
but remarkable.

Glenn Sharke's not in the crowd one night, but because
he won't keep up that quickly.

It's a seven o'clock.

You met some very influential people in your time. The
original influencer of course was the Queen.

I want to tell us about the time that she
made her laugh.

And I did the Royal v I made the Queen laugh.
I did the Royal Variety performance in nineteen ninety five
in London, and I looked up as I walked off,
because you've got a bout of the audience. Then you're
bow to the box, out of the audience, then walk up.
And I adjusted my hair as I bowed to the box,
and I looked up as I left, and she and
Philip were killing themselves laughing. And she spoke to me
after she spoke to me in the lineup, because you're

allowed to speak to her, she's going to speak to you.
So that was very exciting.

Do you remember what she said was profound?
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Yes, she asked if she could see a valid work,
permit love it.

You went for having a sensational sense of human that's
the thing she was.

So you know, I realized she wasn't. She was actually
about the same age as I am now, which blows
my tidy mind, because you know I am thirty nine.
And her eyes were beautiful, just beautiful, yafy blue.

Yeah, no, she was really Yeah, she's she's glowing. The
jewels helped. They were jewels, they were real. So because
so what happens now is because it's not the greatest

TV moments over the forty years. And so you see
me sing I Will Survive on the Royal Variety Show

as you come in. And I had seventy two VHS
tapes digitized. You know, you get an old when you
don't even remember doing something on television. I'm looking at
myself thinking what what.

I did sing kay yeah yeah with David Campbell, Wow, yeah.

We get people bringing the meat and greets are so
touching and so gorgeous. And people are saying, here's the kids,
that this is their first Bob Down show, and I say, yes,
but they're thirty eight. Where have they been? But I
love it.

Yeah, they're all coming in costumes. Okay, Oh, I'm sort
