Speaker 1 (00:00):
You can catch Bob down Choose Bob forty ridiculous years
tomorrow at the Regal Theater. Tickets are available through ticke Tech.
Is that on a T shirt? Like Choose Life? The
old Wham.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
You bet baby? It's banners and merch.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
How you doing that?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
That songs in the show. I do a stock Apeman
and Watermelon tribute, very good water. I've had a huge influence.
I've realized researching the show how are you good?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Good to see you.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
I realized researching this show that I've had a huge
influence on eighties vocals about like ABC you know uh
and spanned out ballet you know. I know this much
is true. I've had a huge influence to be.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Listening, Yes, that poison arrow speaking of the Wham shirt.
If you're talking more Andy or George.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Yeah, I'm a little bit both. I'm a little bit country,
I'm a little bit I think good at all. I'm
a little bit Donny, I'm a little bit Marie.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Yeah, we've got T shirts. There's T shirts. The Choose
Bob T shirts are for lit off that because.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
I did have a Choose Life one back in the day.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
So yeah, and we roll the we roll the sleeves up.
You have to roll and we tuck it in.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
I had I had to choose life T shirt and
a Frankie says, no war Wow, Wow, that was my
protest shirt.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I didn't That didn't have much of an effect as
it turned out.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
As it turned out, Frankie Frankie said a lot of
things some of them didn't understand at the time.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Yes, it's interesting, isn't it an you wonder what?

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Oh yeah, anyway, I didn't know.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
But anyway, you'll be singing all the classics.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
What do you think to find something as a classic?

Speaker 2 (01:45):
I think if they My rule with this show least
was that if they didn't clap along or sing along,
it wasn't in the show, because I didn't want to
do the greatest Hits show. You know, if I have
to sing yeah, yeah, or I will survive one more time,
I'm sorry, I'll check you. And so I thought, I
know what I'll do. I'll sing thirty classics from the
eighties that I've never sung before. And they had to

(02:07):
bloody learn them.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
And so the trick is they've got to be able
to sing along, hum along, clap along. That's my rule.
So they're all in there. It's classics.

Speaker 5 (02:17):
It works any Aussie pop classes. If you had some
Kylie or something popular didn't.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yeah, a little bit of Kylie, a little bit of
Big Nicky and you know that other one. She's better
than tellim andog. So the TikTok kids, because you know
how the TikTok kids are listening to songs at double speed.
So I do a double speed version of reminiscing. And

(02:42):
it was late, I was walking home. We got down
to the gate, dars Ryman. It would it turned out right.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Works stre I don't mind that.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
I've got a fabulous music director, Bev Kennedy playing the keys,
and I've got my I've got a nepo nephew that
because you've got to pass the torch, you know what
I'm saying. And so he's in the show, my neo nephew,
Philip mccrevis. And he's the remarkable young man, not so young,
but remarkable.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Glenn Sharke's not in the crowd one night, but because
he won't keep up that quickly.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
It's a seven o'clock.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
You met some very influential people in your time. The
original influencer of course was the Queen.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
I want to tell us about the time that she
made her laugh.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
And I did the Royal v I made the Queen laugh.
I did the Royal Variety performance in nineteen ninety five
in London, and I looked up as I walked off,
because you've got a bout of the audience. Then you're
bow to the box, out of the audience, then walk up.
And I adjusted my hair as I bowed to the box,
and I looked up as I left, and she and
Philip were killing themselves laughing. And she spoke to me
after she spoke to me in the lineup, because you're

(03:47):
allowed to speak to her, she's going to speak to you.
So that was very exciting.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Do you remember what she said was profound?

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Yes, she asked if she could see a valid work,
permit love it.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
You went for having a sensational sense of human that's
the thing she was.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
So you know, I realized she wasn't. She was actually
about the same age as I am now, which blows
my tidy mind, because you know I am thirty nine.
And her eyes were beautiful, just beautiful, yafy blue.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
Oh really incredible, Taylor.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Yeah, no, she was really Yeah, she's she's glowing. The
jewels helped. They were jewels, they were real. So because
so what happens now is because it's not the greatest
is show when everybody comes into the show, when you
come into the show. I've put together a montage of
TV moments over the forty years. And so you see
me sing I Will Survive on the Royal Variety Show

(04:42):
and you see me sing e with Bert Yeah, you
know what I mean. So you see a lovely montage
as you come in. And I had seventy two VHS
tapes digitized. You know, you get an old when you
don't even remember doing something on television. I'm looking at
myself thinking what what.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
I know you're saying with But did you ever sing?

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Yeah? Yeah with Kate Sobrano I wish I had, but
I did sing kay yeah yeah with David Campbell, Wow, yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
I used to do it in her septep.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Yeah yeah do that, I know, with their brother Yeah
yea with phil film film, gorgeous film, Philip.

Speaker 5 (05:18):
Are you getting multi generations at the gigs, not just
yeah people?

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Yeah yeah, yeah, I'll get three generations, which I love.
We get people bringing the meat and greets are so
touching and so gorgeous. And people are saying, here's the kids,
that this is their first Bob Down show, and I say, yes,
but they're thirty eight. Where have they been? But I
love it.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
People ever come to the shows in Safari, So.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Yeah, they're all coming in costumes. Okay, Oh, I'm sort
of turning into.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Turning kiss.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
I love her. I've got all her records. Jean Jean Simmons.
I loved her in Guards and Doors. That's the other gene.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
When he picked the name, Jean Simmons. Yeah, yeah, that's right.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
And it's so beautiful to be back at the Regal.
What fabulous.

Speaker 4 (06:10):

Speaker 2 (06:11):
