Speaker 1 (00:00):
Season three of the twelve The Cape Rock Killer premieres
on Binge and Showcase on Monday, once again filmed here
in doubly way, and joining the show for season three
is Danielle Cormack.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Good morning, Danielle, daniel welcome.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Good morning, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
So you've been in jail now you're on the on
the other side of things. What can you tell us
about your role Lawyer Gabe Nichols.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Yeah, I play I play Gabe Nicholls, barrister and yeah,
I go. I'm the prosecutor in this series, and I
spend all my time going head to head with Brett
Colby played by the wonderful Sam Neils. Yes, and yeah,
it was such a thrill for me to join this season.
(00:50):
I had watched season one and season two, and I
mean this season is a completely different kettle of compared
to the other two. And yeah, so I got to,
you know, slip into the silks and try and win
a case.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Staring exam all the way through. Is there any love
interest like season two? In not at all.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
I took the job. Yeah, my character actually used to
be who used to work for Colby, so Gabe was
his solicitor. For many years, and as they say in
those terms, she jumped to the dark side so ends
(01:37):
up working for the prosecution as opposed to defense. So
there was a lovely backstory between Colby and Nicholas to
unpack there, and in fact that I think that you know,
for me, it was more about she viewed Colby more
as a kind of a father figure really and someone
that she looked up to immensely, but then really wanted
(01:59):
to her her worth to him in terms of wanting
to win the case. So it was a kind of
a you know, a bit of sweet rivalry I think
between them and I. You know, we spent so long
in the courtrooms together shooting all those scenes, so there
was a lot of time for sam Andi to kind
(02:21):
of explore that dynamic and put it on the screen.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
No wonder, you want to get your teeth into that one.
There's a lot to it. It's great.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
So these killer Can you give us a brief synopsis
about what this one is about?
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Okay, Well, there's that follows the murder of a woman
who has been trying to uncover who murdered two young
girls years ago in the sixties. So there's actually two
mysteries that unfold through this series and through two different timelines,
(02:54):
which is it's really exciting. You really have to stay
and you're toes to follow all of the characters through
those two timeline. So yeah, they're investigating at the same
time as a current case and a historical case which
is playing into the current case. So yeah, there's a
lot going on in this series. And we had a
fantastic director. I think that Binge and foxtelor committed to
(03:19):
to bringing on new directors, so they've really crafted and
the whole feeling of this series is very different than
the other one, so it's very distinctive, and you know,
the whole being in Australia in the nineteen sixties as
well is up there on screen, so it's got a
very distinctive, very defined flavor.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
This This series, so.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Dark story in a very beautiful, bright Southwest w a location.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Indeed, we had sights so much fun. I had so
much fun shooting in Perth. I hadn't spent a lot
of time there before, so you know, that was a
bonus for me. Of course, you're getting to know the
city and you know, getting out to Rotney's Island, having
a look around I'd happily shoot there again.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Well, a lot of people are, you know. I mean,
we've got great locations, we've got beautiful light. Margaret River.
Of course you did. Were you involved in the shooting
down there?
Speaker 3 (04:14):
I was, I was. I did, thankfully. My my character
had one one scene in Margaret River, so I got
to spend a bit of time down there. So yeah,
I mean it's beautiful, right we all up on the
screen as well.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Yeah, great, that's what we want to say.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
The character of itself isn't a location. It's you know,
if it's if it's a beautiful location like that.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Yeah, I think and you know, I think that that's
with with the with all the production team and the
directors and everyone that's involved in getting it up on
the screen. You know that it was really important to
them to really get the essence of the area.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Yeah. Yeah, Well I hope you take in a winery
and get the the area.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
I can either confirm.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Or it's very caughty said, I know you like getting
on a motorbike and having a ride. When it was
the last time you got on your bike and escaped everything?
And where did you do you remember where the riders to?
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Well, actually, I can't do with the last time was.
I have done a lot of riding in Perth. I
actually especially to go on a ride there and yeah,
that was fantastic. I did a ride when I was
working a lot with Harley Davidson. They flew me there
and I got to, you know, have a good run
around the around the streets and into the the natural
(05:34):
park there.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Yeah. Have you ever done jury, Judy.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
No, I haven't. Yeah, I know I think it would
maybe depending on the case. But look, having shot those
scenes and knowing how long you know the cases, how
long and arduous those cases can be. Sometimes you know,
over months, weeks, you know, just so long, I don't
(06:00):
don't know whether I would want to do it.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Yeah I must. I got the call up a few
months ago and daniel and all I could think about
was season two of the twelve. I'm going, I really
want to be here for this many.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Weeks watching it all?
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Right?
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Well, season three, it all kicks off on Monday. It's
on Showcase at eight thirty and it's on Binge The
Cape Rock Killer.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
We look forward to it.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Danielle, thanks for your time this morning. Great Thane.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
You last
