at Elliot Yo, alongside our footy expert from seven News,
Adrien Barrach Elliott and Barrow.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Good morning, Morning, morning, morning Smiley.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Look, I know this is an Eagles segment, yoie, but
we're all sports lovers here and we have to mention
the amazing happenings Overnight Australia bowled out the West Indies
for the second lowest Test score in history twenty seven
runs twenty seven. It only lasted fourteen overs. The Windy's
had seven ducks bowl and got a hat trick. Mitch
(00:56):
starked five wickets in fifteen balls.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Since the stuff of legends, we have smashed them.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
So that's slightly equivalent of bringing your own footage of
the games.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
West Indies, Like you said out there, what's happened to
the Windy's? What has happened to the Windys anyway. Now, yeah,
it's good effort to buy the boys. On the weekend,
Gabe put out Laider scared, didn't they some encouraging signs?
Speaker 3 (01:20):
You encouraged?
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Yeah, you're starting to see the signs and the talent
of a few of the younger kids coming through. Now,
it's just we've been struggling to do that for four quarters,
which has been I guess the frustrating aspect. But that
is also the lack of experience as well. We seem
to sort of just fail away in quarters and unfortunately
(01:41):
teams can make the most of that and really capitalize.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
So that's killing us at the moment.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
But the exciting thing is that you're starting to see
a lot of the talent shine through.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
And you make a great point because even on the
death Liam Ryan goes out, he's out of the team.
And then there's this news about James Graham, Jack Jack Graham.
So Jack James Graham plays for the Bulldogs. He's a
very tough guy. Not that Jack isn't obviously remorseful. I mean,
(02:10):
just four weeks is a big penalty, isn't it. But
I guess that's where it's at at the moment, and
it's easy to happen out there that you sort of lose,
you forget where you.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Are, and you say things you shouldn't say. I suppose.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Yeah, like all people like you say things that you regret,
and you can say the wrong thing at times, and
sadly you know Jack did, but you know, he's a
quality character, super remorseful. We can only sort of talk
about it, you know, on a surface level. So yeah, look, unfortunately,
like the club's made a massive statement about it, done
(02:44):
a huge press release, Jack's obviously feeling, you know, quite
remorseful about it.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Also, that's all that we can sort of say and
leave it at that.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Frustrating because he's a good player for us, a leader,
an old sort of head that probably we would have
needed and would.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Have helped us on the weekend as well.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
So yeah, and he's playing his old team as well,
and would have been playing his old team Richmond this weekend,
so a tough one for him. A lot of talk
about Harley again, the shows, the TV footy shows. They
love Harley, don't they, and a couple of things I
wanted to talk about him talking in the huddle.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
I thought that was impressive.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
He's obviously a young man that will express himself in
the break.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Yeah he does, but yeah, look he talks as well,
but he you know, he actually does the same thing
on the field.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
You know, he walks.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
So once he finds that balance as well of you know,
playing on the edge and playing on the line, he'll
be a very very good footballer. I mean, obviously he's
covering a lot of flak at the moment with the
free kicks and all that stuff. But when he can
find the balance of playing on the edge, because that's
what makes him and gives him the best opportunity to
play his best football. The minute that he can find
(03:55):
that balance, he's going to be a fantastic footballer and
all that stuff that everyone's talking about be on the
wayside and won't even be an issue, and he'll just
be going out there getting twenty five thirty a week,
two goals, doing his thing for the team and just
basically winning games of football off his own boots. So
when that happens, and you know, he's a young kid,
people forget he's nineteen years of age. Second year, like
(04:16):
he's give him a breather, and and.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
You would know you played on the edge or you
still play on the edge and you know where the
line is. Would you have torn to Jason Horn Francis like,
actually it was a good turn.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Go back to mummy.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Does that mean he's staying? Does that mean he's understand it?
Speaker 4 (04:32):
Look, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Again, same as people say things on field that you regret.
So yeah, look it's yeah, we'll see. I'd love him
to stay. But again that's a that's another separate issue
again and that's down the rabbit hole. But yeah, it was.
It was pretty funny to watch. I mean, people love
the spectacle.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
I mean, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
People laugh about it and you know it's kind of
it's it's funny move on type of thing.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Yeah, he copped a big fine hundred and fifty bucks,
which is a massive fine and so and I thought
second year players only get four grand a game.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
So ah, yeah, it's pretty much a year.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Well you lost money playing footy?
Speaker 4 (05:10):
Yeah, that would be Yeah, probably his match. He's done.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
All right, let's talk about Richmond then opts chance to
win Smiley. It could could be their second win for
the year. That's that's encouraging, isn't it.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
It is it is.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
But again like we've been inconsistent games of football. We
were inconsistent when we played them at the start of
the year. So if we can't do that, then you
know Richmond will get the better of us. So we
need to pretty much play four quarters. I don't know,
it sounds so simple, but that's what's killing us at
the moment. We're playing two and a half three quarters
here and there and letting teams in with that quarter,
(05:45):
that one quarter and they're capitalizing. So it's been you know,
promising as I said earlier before, but also frustrating in
the same aspects. So exciting game because it's winnable one
and every game is winnable. If you didn't think it was,
then what's the point of playing and rocking up? So yeah,
hopefully we can come away with.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
A win or I think we're getting the wind up.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
But I'll give you can I just give him a
quick quiz, will be quick, I promise, all right, you ready?
Who's the best team right now?
Speaker 4 (06:11):
Pies probably?
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Yeah, I could be Pies and Brizzy rematch.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
It'd be interesting if the dock has beate and won't
it the stand rule yes or no?
Speaker 5 (06:22):
No holding holding the ball confusing, Yes or no, it's
been confusing for years. Accident or contact with an umpire,
Should that be a suspendable offense?
Speaker 4 (06:35):
I don't think so. I think have I had it before?
Was fine? Sadly, it's a contact sport.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
There's bodies everywhere, you know, it's players don't deliberately touch.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Or hit unby.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
No, it's an accident.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
It's an accident, so different story. If you're pushing a
player into them, different story.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
But that really happens.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
And the center bounce is part of the problem. So
would you keep it or scrap center bounce?
Speaker 4 (07:01):
Uh? Yeah, it's you have to keep it.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
It's a it's a traditional part of the game, so
you have to keep it. The hard part is, you know,
sometimes umpire backs out where the rucks tap.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
It, so you feel like telling the umpire may go
the other ways, go that way, go to the other side.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
No, yeah, no no, so yeah, yeah, there's that, there's
that aspect, but unfortunately, in the space of ten seconds
that that can't happen.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
And should we bring back the biff?
Speaker 4 (07:34):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Watching them with TV all that stuff, you know what
I mean, Like I'm old school like that.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
I love that stuff.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
That's why we love it.
