Everyone remember the words of the song? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (00:51):
You boys were there?
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Was it?
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Two hundred and eighty one days? They haven't sung it.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
For yeah, it's a while.
Speaker 5 (00:57):
Eleven straight straight losses. Seven player hadn't ever sung it,
so that was that was nice.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
So it was. It was actually a great winning weekend
for w A footy.
Speaker 5 (01:08):
The Eagles one the Dockers had a great win and
WA beat South Australia in the state league competition, so
that means that we're the best state league competition in
Australia at Waffle, so that's good. But yeah, we can't
avoid it was an emotional day at Optics. Jesus was
emotional and I mean you only had to see Jamie
Cripps crying during the minute silence before the match to
(01:31):
just know wow, and that big board with the big
headshot of Adam and mate. I was so proud of
the boys and the club as a whole, just the
way they paid tribute to him, and the way they played,
the genuine outpouring of love and grief for the Cellard
family and all he loved him. And if only Adam
could have understood or felt that much love and admiration and.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
The respect he was held. He was such a special person,
you know, that's.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
It's just that poor family. I mean, I can't even
begin to imagine three months he was one of.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
The best, one of the best blogs.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
I've I reckon, I've met the kindest, most caring, ultimate
team man, sort of fellow you'd want your daughter to marry.
Who were laughing about that out there, Lisa, you know
that sort of fellow, that he'd be good, he'd be
good for my daughter, sort of things.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Material.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
It's just she always used to laugh about, you know,
when when the Eagles would plage along, who missus Seltwood
would you know.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Is in such a position?
Speaker 2 (02:35):
What does she do? There was one a bris too,
like poor family. Shocking couple of days. His gut wrenching
is beyond comprehension.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
Really rock the Eagles rocked foot, he crushed everyone who
knew him, just how great he was. And you know what,
it's obviously being a good man doesn't make you safe,
that's the thing. It doesn't make you immune. And amongst
your friends and loved ones, you can still feel alone
or unseen.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
And it's discriminate, exactly, it's hidden.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
It's quite so.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
I just wanted to give a quick message before he
played the audio. I thought Oscar Allen summed it up beautifully.
Was that I know Brian Cousins Ben's doubt. He's trying
to set up an next players group called the Fifth
Quarter which is a pretty good name. And I think
the message is be somebody's fifth quarter, you know, just
be there for someone and reach out if you can.
(03:31):
And if you are struggling to get help and reach
out as well. Even it it's the.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Middle of the night, it doesn't matter. Just cool, it
doesn't matter, you know. And this is how oscar Aalen
summed it up after the game.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
So he'd been troubled himself, of course all year with
you know, the speculation of him leaving and getting hammered
by the by the by the fans, and I thought,
I thought he I thought he spoke, well, oh, they've.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Just been amazing and I know it's great.
Speaker 6 (03:55):
And when he came to footy, but we've lost the
legend of our club and just want to send all
love and support to the cell Wood family. Mental health
is such a massive thing of society at the moment.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
I've struggled with my own mental.
Speaker 6 (04:08):
Battles this year, and I've been so fortunate to have
such a great support for around me tapping my back
throughout everything we've gone through. I just urge anyone out
there who struggling with anything, please reach out helplines, friends,
reach out to each other because we're heartbroken and we
just want to offer all the love and support we
come to the cell.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Wood family in this time.
Speaker 7 (04:28):
So well said, Oscar has been a heart year for
you as well. Did you feel the love of West
Coast bands today who just looked to be absolutely loving
you playing for with taking marks and kicking girls.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Yeah, they've always been terrific. I've been here for eight
years now.
Speaker 6 (04:42):
I grew up loving and supporting this club, and I
still love and support this club with everything I've got.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
So you can hear them now.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
We've had a great night and I'm really.
Speaker 6 (04:51):
Excited, as we said to the young fellows, to enjoy
seeing the song for the first time.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Yeah, it's quite an emotional and also that's a statement
about Oscar too.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
I think it was amazing, wasn't it here the crowd
in the background.
Speaker 8 (05:02):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (05:03):
So in terms of footy, lease the first win in
two hundred and eighty one days, Liam Baker was fearless.
Harley Reid showed new rich maturity. I reckon he almost
out of respect for sellers. He just you know what,
I'm going to play like this level.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Sorry, I know it.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
Sometimes it just raises up and Brady Hoff. He raised
his fists and yelled when the Eagles won, and you
know he was crying after the match. And actually Adam Pappalie,
you know how we were laughing last week about channeling
Dennis Listener Papalie ever go here.
Speaker 6 (05:37):
Half twisting, turning thinking goals hasn't kicked one wants.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
The Bountain roles in his first goal in the ifl
who's gone half funny in the chamber had a win?
Speaker 5 (05:57):
Yeah, the fever got up. That was fantastic to see
as well. Extended winning streak to four. Beat the Thunderbirds.
But mate, the Dockers, you must have been pumped.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Absolutely pumped. It was I must win to otherwise the
season is pretty much gone if you have only one
four if they come of.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Age, I know we want to jump onto We've got
to place ourselves.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Can you ask me after get on the after Saturday
is going to get port because they have to back
it up?
Speaker 5 (06:20):
Yeah, I reckon They spank port it and almost be
back in the top eight. But signs are good too,
strong performances. Seat one A on the BAM wagon is
still there. At lea you're on seat one beat. I'll
be in one seat.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Yeah, here we go free he.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Fredy drawn on.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
It's not happening.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Where would you get it? Least by the way, where
would you.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Well, it would have to be an anchor, wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
It You're going to say an ankle?
Speaker 3 (06:56):
How did you put it on your ankle? Wouldn't you
an anchor?
Speaker 1 (06:59):
I'd love to put a free thing on your butt?
I you know what, I'm a.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
That's the first time you're breached. I reckon? Ever the
best crossing the line?
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Seriously, she's not looking at me.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Backtrack and stripe. I'm going to stay around for a
bit longer. Look chaperone, safety person, Freddy's kick.
Speaker 5 (07:28):
Three guys, thanks for cheering out, Shaye Bolton, superb Luke Jackson.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
He can use that as an excuse. Was cheering up.
Speaker 5 (07:39):
He needs that smutty stuff. It wasn't smutty, sorry, mat
So I overcooked that. You want to finish on a
funny night.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
This is pretty just so.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
The Perth Bears rugby league team coming in and I
believe they're talking to the great Malmninger. Really he's got
a very interesting nickname, doming but we won't say it
on air, but he he's one of the all time greats.
Now he could be coaching them. But the funniest yeah, yeah,
they're really looking at him. But the funniest story of
(08:12):
the week was the name the Perth Bears. It's created
some confusion because there's a Perth based social club. Yes yeah,
for big gaming here he is. The president has had
(08:32):
to issue a statement just pot it. He said he's
actually should have straightmen on Facebook, and so he said,
we're not a rugby league court club, please stop calling,
but Kingsley Doors.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
He's obviously got some.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
Sense of view, and the president He's added, But don't
get me wrong, I'd love to see a whole bunch
of big, burly rugby league fans show up at our events,
but they may not get what they were expecting, maybe
not memberships.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Luck all right.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Kel Saprise Science has confirmed that ginger cats are genetically freaks.
Scientists across two continents, Japan and the US, have uncovered
the DNA mystery. That's to thank for furry fearlines, especially
males having their notable ginger coats. I don't think I've
I don't think I've ever met a female ginger cat.
(09:34):
They're always there must be some semblance of female gingers
to be having the kittens. I don't know how it works,
but I've actually never met a girl ginger anyway. These
are Scientists at Kyushu University in Japan and Stanford in
the US have revealed the mystery. Researchers discovered that ginger
(09:56):
cats are actually missing a section of their genetic co
which means the cells responsible for their skin per tone
and eye color eyes produce a lighter color. This is
thanks to the gene AARH gap thirty six. For decades,
scientists have observed observed that ginger cats are far more
(10:16):
likely to be males, and this is due to the
fact that the ginger gene is carried on the X chromosome.
In comparison, female cats have two X chromosomes, so the
DNA needs to be missing in both chromosomes to increase
lighter pigment production to the same extent. Now, this gene
is found in humans and has been linked to skin
cancer and hair loss. While this although I mean gingers
(10:39):
are ginger cats usually have tons of hair, they're always
very fairy. While this study confirms ginger cats of genetic anomalies,
the jury is still out on whether this genetic mutation
is responsible for their reputation as little bundles.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
Of chaos, absolute trouble, Little bundles.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
Of chaos is definitely one way. They're wondering if the
gene effects are their personalities. The scientist says, I don't
think we can exclude the possibility that there is altered
expression of the gene in some tissue we have at
tested that might effect behavior, they said, suggesting the tendency
for gingers to wreak havoc on their owners might have
(11:19):
more to do with the fact that they're male.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Oh okay.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
Many cat owners swear by the idea that different coat
colors and patterns are linked with different personalities. I mean,
I've had ginger I've had cats of all colors.
Speaker 9 (11:31):
Yea.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
The gingers are nuts. They are and they're cheeky, they're hilarious,
they have the best facial expressions. And I mean, and
I don't know if it's I've had other male cats,
not many. I've usually have girls. But it's a ginger
thing that.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
Can be fun, but I think not a male thing.
Speaker 9 (11:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Okay, Oh there you go.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
More crazy Lisa, more podcasts soon.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
My fourteen year old niece. She's my great niece. She
is a great niece. She is an awesome niece. And
on Saturday was the culmination of three four, five, five
months of the just the looking forward tounness.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Of a lifetime, a lot of preparation.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
She and her girlfriend went to see Gracie Aprams on
Saturday night at rac Arena. It was her first concert,
you know, going with a friend rather than you know,
not going with mum or you know, Mum and sister
or anyone independence And to say that this kid had
(12:41):
been excited in the leader is the understatement of the century.
She has been talking about it since Boxing day, of.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Course, and we as a Christmas present or anyone I know.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
She bought them herself with her with her part time
job money, and so yes, off they went on Saturday.
They'd been planning their their outfit and when in matching
sort of outfit down to the color of the bow,
because it was doing good to have a bow in
your hair for Gracie Abrams on the weekend, cy if
(13:12):
you didn't know people posting, And they went and I've
seen seen some pictures of them rocking out and they
are having the time of their life and their moms,
you know, one being my niece and the other being
her friend. They said, just watching these two girls enjoy
(13:34):
themselves the way they did in the lead up to
and on Saturday just brought them so much joy and
reminds us all of that first concert that we ever
went to.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
For me, it was, uh, come on, spill the beans.
Can't remember what yours was? You have told me it
was John Paul.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Young, John p Squak, Squeak, And as I recall, we
ran down the front.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Oh yeah, yeah, a better look at Squeak.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
So that was my first.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
But it's funny and girls of that aur with friends
with friends, girls of that age, they know every word,
every lyric and everyone. They're so important to them because
we heard that the billis.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
I don't remember lyrics like I could when I was fourteen,
so forgotten from you remember yesterday?
Speaker 1 (14:24):
I want you to do yesterday's hero from John four.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
Past your mind back to the absolute unadulterated excitement.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
No parents, yeah, chaperone, planning.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Were you're gonna aware and what you're gonna and you know,
not being able.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
To sleep the night before or the four months.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
I wish I could get excited about things like you
could when you were fourteen.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Funny isn't what happens to that?
Speaker 10 (14:50):
Well?
Speaker 1 (14:50):
Other things come in there distract you like adult stuff
and hate adult so annoying.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Mark said on the text. My first concert was in
Excess at the Entertainment Center in nineteen eighty three, the
Swing Tour cool and and on Saturday night just gone.
He saw an Inexcess tribute band called what you Need all.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Right, but it's got to Le's murdy Scott dear, good
morning guys.
Speaker 9 (15:14):
I can remember going to a Sherbet concert at the
wangan Hills Town Hall in about seventy six a venue, Yes,
how was it? It was awesome and we went there
in a brand new x blee felt and that I
can't remember.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
The year amazing.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
I shared a bedroom in nineteen seventy six with my
sister Scott and had to sleep under a poster of Garth.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Was at the Garth Border thin because my sister was
into Sherbert. She was loved Garth.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Porter on people, actually all the girls love Garth.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
He was pretty good. Yea, yeah, good on your Scott,
Thanks Scott, thank you, very cool Callen and Karen.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
And funnily enough that was in les Murdy too that
I was sleeping all the picture of Garth.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
How's that Callen in Karen up? Good morning, good, good morning, guys.
Speaker 2 (15:58):

Speaker 1 (16:00):
You first when he got for his first gig.

Guns and Roses at the Old in in uh in Birdswood.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Yeah, back in the day, which was it was?
Speaker 9 (16:10):
It was very memorable. I remember that well.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
It was how old are can you wear? Callen?
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Maybe?
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Oh yeah, that would have been a big it would.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Have been it his hip swiveling peak.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
Absolutely, oh yeah, I mean it was gone off because.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
We saw them you know a few years ago we
did at Open Yeah, and he was still swiveling, but
not quite middle aged swivel.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
There was there was a bit of a click though,
wasn't there.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Absolutely, that was a great night. That was a really
good mate. You you're amongst a sea of black T
shirts walk into the jungle style. Absolutely, Thanks Gallen, Thanks Gallen.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
Bye.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
I've told you many times. My first one was kiss
in nineteen eighty when they got here. There's a lot
of people in our generation that that was their first
gig and I can still remember the flames, the feeling
from right up the back at the end, unreal.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Steve in Huntingdale. We call him Pip Steve if you know,
you know. On the text, says, my first concert was
Michael Jackson in Perth at the old Burzel Doome nineteen
ninety six, when I was sixty. Okay, sure, Steve.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Steve, Thank you, Steve Steve. Show we go.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
Elizabeth in Riverton, Hello, what was your first gig?
Speaker 4 (17:26):
Good morning? My first concert was at the Old Entertainment Center.
It was Mental as Anything, supported by the cockroachess.
Speaker 9 (17:38):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Yeah, it takes you back, doesn't it. Do you remember
how excited you were?
Speaker 1 (17:44):
We were.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
We were living in down here, so we'd come down
for the Optolery school holidays. So we did the Royal
Show Adventure World and we had a little boy with
us as well, and he actually fell asleep during the
concert with us, so he was really excited.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
But that's yeah, absolutely, and the Mental Live you know,
Greedy Smith and Martin out front. Unreal what a band.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Thanks Elizabeth, thank you had a good day too. On
the text, Cherie said, my first was Bros. Bros. My
girlfriend and I thought we were the coolest. Her mum
made us matching shirts which she got the pattern for
out of Dolly magazine. We wore ripped knee length denim shorts,
(18:29):
red white and blue socks with white sneakers. Her dad
was the bus driver and the three hour drive to
the Sydney Entertainment Center, we were on the back seat.
We just thought we were it. There were fourteen and
recently they found the one photo they took on the
day and she said that she still thinks they look cool.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Oh, I can imagine how loud that insect was when
they did when will I be? I Be Famous? I
can I can so loud high pitched voices to Gorisburry Hill,
can I Susan Hi?
Speaker 8 (18:58):
CLOZI Hi?
Speaker 3 (19:00):
What was your first?
Speaker 9 (19:02):
Well?
Speaker 8 (19:03):
Nineteen seventy six and it was my girlfriend's eighteenth birthday
and her parents gave her it was either second or
third row seats to Neil Diamond, And yeah it was.
It was an absolutely fantastic concert, except that I was
sitting right behind Yorkie in the day, Yeah, when he
(19:25):
yet fine or book back in the days when he
had that huge afro head.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
He did have a lot of radio.
Speaker 8 (19:31):
Yeah, no, he absolutely did. So every time he bopped right,
I went left and we just played that the whole concert.
When he was right, I was left and vice versa.
But it was a great concert.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Yeah, and would have had a bit of hairspraying that
here too, I reckon.
Speaker 8 (19:48):
Oh my goodness, it was huge. It was absolutely huge,
particularly exactly. Yeah, yeah, Marry, have a good day.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Sat behind your imagine ago, I'm left right when Nil's
doing crunchy granola. It's hilarious. What an image and a
per mo.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
That's a very that's very per I love this story.
Shandra in Maddington says twenty eighth of November nineteen seventy
five Perth Entertainment Center based city Rollers. I was thirteen.
I collected bottles to get money for the tickets. I
pinched my brother's white cricket pants to sow tartan ribbon on.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
She said.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
I even dated my boyfriend because he was Scottish and
we are back together.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Now still still rollers that.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
It's amazing.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
Oh, very good.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Terry from Geraldton says my first concert was Daddy Cool
at Bettie Park pool in about nineteen seventy three. Lots
of people ended up in the racing pool. Oh jeesz,
you wouldn't. It wouldn't happen today. I mean today. You're
barely allowed to get up and have a boogie.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
I know you do, get alone? Sat down again, jump.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
In the racing pool at the park.
Speaker 10 (21:00):
Yeah, good, there you go.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
What was your first concert?
Speaker 10 (21:05):
We went to go Anna in Newcastle and which was
pretty interesting as such. But then what we couldn't work
out is the guy that was singing every now and
again there was this thing that was moving down his
leak and we worked it out that he had a sock.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
In his jeans dislodge the moving.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
So that's the risky run.
Speaker 10 (21:28):
At the end of the night it was halfway down
to his knees.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
Was that maybe it was his going listen alone?
Speaker 1 (21:41):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 10 (21:43):
Lizend Well.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Next time we talked to Shade Howard ask him about
the mystery. So not about a footy song remembers So
in the wash.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
The jeans were tight.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
It's embarrassing. Sock was not that I've tried it.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Not pack hard enough.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
The Sure report on ninety six airm, less.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
Than two weeks after four women filed a civil lawsuit
against eighty five year old singer Smokey Robinson alleging sexual assault.
Police have confirmed their investigating Robinson. The Los Angeles County
Sheriff's Department says their investigation is in the early stages
and they have no further comment for now. Pink's hubby,
Kerry Hart, did himself a very nasty motocross incident on
(22:33):
the weekend. He landed badly off for jump and he
copped a handlebus straight into his gut, which severed his
small intestine from his colon. He's recovering, My god, He's
recovering in hospital with more than twenty stitches in one
mighty gash down the length of his abdomen. This could
shape up to be one of those nasty court fights.
(22:54):
Eighty two year old entertainment mogul David Geffen has filed
for divorce less than two years after marrying a thirty
two year old former Go go dancer named David Armstrong.
Geffen is worth eight point seven billion dollars. He and
David did not have a prenup and a Sean did he.
Coomb's sex trafficking and abuse trial will continue this week,
(23:15):
as did his accusers. Start going for the embarrassment angle.
Another Jane Doe, has filed a civil suit against Coombs,
and she's called out the size of his manhood. In
the suit, the woman refers to Coombs and I'm quoting
legal documents here she refers to his itty bitty diddy,
Oh really, god, which she then describes in the legal
(23:37):
documents as the size of a large tutsi role.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
Okay, she'd have to do a poorly drawn penis moresa
more podcast soon.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
Premier Roger Gook, Welcome to the studio for the first
time since.
Speaker 6 (23:58):
No.
Speaker 11 (23:58):
I didn't realize so.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Long, too late to say congratulations.
Speaker 11 (24:04):
We're really proud of that result, and you know, in
the meantime, we've got to get down to work, right,
So it's it's been a busy for a couple of months.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Would have been a lovely feeling, though. I noticed that
the Prime Minister, on his way to other duties, was
dropped in and there were big hugs all around because
you both previously just recently won elections.
Speaker 11 (24:20):
Yeah, and obviously we had the state election, and I
can understand everyone, you know, gets overwhelmed by the federal
election because that's the big show, right, So it's but
it was great that the Prime Minister popped in on
his way through to Jakarta. He is keen to work
in partnership with my government to make sure we get
some great outcomes for the people of Western Australia. He
under understands that Western Australia is the engine room of
(24:42):
the national economy, gets w A. So that's why we're
keen to work together to get to really build on
the next four years.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Yeah, a few things have happened. First of all the
announcement of the w A n r L team. Yes,
how confident are you it's going to work this time?
Speaker 11 (25:00):
Oh, look, we've learned a lot and learned through bitter
experience from the from the Western Reds. You might have
might have remembered them back in the nineteen nineties and
as a kid watching rugby league back then, I was
heartbroken by that experience. So we've been really keen to
make sure that the NRL take its responsibilities towards a
new team in the competition properly, which is the reason
(25:22):
why we work so hard around the negotiations to really
make sure we get it right. We don't want to
see them come give it a try and then go.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Yeah, No, we want it to be fair.
Speaker 11 (25:31):
You know, if this is going to be a team
playing in the National League, well then they should be
treated like all the other teams, not penalized for the
fact that they're a newcomer. So that's why we're really
keen to make sure we get We got the deal
which would actually benefit Western Australia.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
And the Reds were that were Super League as well,
wasn't it so slightly different?
Speaker 10 (25:50):
That's right.
Speaker 11 (25:51):
So the Reds ultimately got cannibalized through that whole league
of rugby league walls back in the nineteen nineties. So
let's hope, you know, that it doesn't happen again, that
we get it right this time. And one of the
ways we've done it is rather than you know, a
team coming in on their own with the NRL sort
of standing back going you know, give it your best shot,
(26:12):
the NRL are actually deeply embedded in this new club,
so they've got a lot of stake in this.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
That right, it has to work.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Yeah, of the battle already done. The other thing that
because I've noticed the reaction to the Bears is sort
of very split down the middle. People either lot of
us or they don't care for it. The other thing
you have to win people over with is the Burswold Racetrack.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
Yeah, well we'll first on the Bears.
Speaker 11 (26:36):
I reckon. Now we've got the team. Now the announcements.
Maybe we've got the Perth Bears. They're going to be
our team in the NRL. So the message to everyone is, look,
I know this has had a We've had a great
debate about this. Yeah, you know, I used to watch
press conferences. The journalists were arguing with each other rather
than argument with me. Sport races passions, right, But now
we've got the Perth Bears. Everyone get on board. It's
(26:58):
our local West Dozsie team in the and I think
everyone will get excited, particularly in the lead up to
twenty twenty seven, which is the first season that they
are actually competing. But you can see there'll be a
huge build up and a level of excitement. And this
is part and parcel of continuing to build the vibrancy
of Western Australia. We want people to come to WA
to work, to live, to play, and part of that
(27:20):
is creating content, creating opportunities for people to really enjoy
everything that we have here. And that's why our entertainment
and sports precinct at Burswood is also an important part
of this. Continuing to build the vibrancy of Western Australia.
So that's a twenty half between a fifteen and twenty
thousand seat outdoor concert venue. It'll also have the opportunities
(27:43):
for cycling events, criterions, things like that. And of course
the thing that everyone's talking about is a street circuit
for motor racing, which will occur maybe one weekend two
weekends a year. But the main opportunity here is to
continue to build a great festival, fair and outdoor entertainment precinct.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
Did you see any of the Eagles game on TV yesterday?
Roger the Eagles and Securita playing at Optus the drone
I saw the last quarter. The drone shots that the
seven were doing yesterday were magnificent. They showed East Perth,
they showed the Burswold from a long way out. There
were just in credit. I was just proud to be
a west I was watching that. That was just amazing.
Speaker 11 (28:21):
Yeah, so you can imagine, for instance, I mean we've
identified supercars has been the main sport sports car event
that we would bring to that circuit. The street circuit
would not only allow for a great stage of a
great sport event, but it really builds the placemaking of
Western Australia. You'd see you can imagine, you know, camera shots,
(28:42):
you know, panning from the race course to the city
scape to the amazing river that we had.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
We had the red Bull things.
Speaker 11 (28:49):
Right way to promote Perth as a destination and I
want Perth to be an event destination for Southeast Asia
along with Singapore, along with Hong Kong and other great
cities in the Southeast Asian region. And the way we
do that is to make sure we have this infrastructure
and really just build up the content.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
You know, Jeff Kenneth came at Victoria a bit like
that and he turned Victoria into an amazing state.
Speaker 11 (29:14):
And of course nowadays you have the Formula one at
Albert Park and we know how much of a passionate
debate that that creative. And so we believe this is
this is our Albert Park moment and we could really
create an exciting opportunity. The other thing we want to do, though, Lisa,
is that we want to make sure that we build
(29:36):
out the environmental values of that whole precinct. People may
not be aware, but Birdswood Peninsula is actually the site
of an old dump and not just a dump a
highly toxic waste disposal.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Oh, there was always concern about building up just the Yeah,
that's right.
Speaker 11 (29:50):
Yeah, I remember when the Shadow Minister for Sport we
criticized in the stadium. Yeah, and so we want to
make sure that we can really build out the environmental values,
particularly along that river's edge where I mean it's such
a beautiful environment. We want to continue to make sure
we consolidate that.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Yeah, you mentioned Singapore. You're heading to Singapore and Indonesia soon,
So there's a bit going on. Is that part of
the reason to keep those times.
Speaker 11 (30:14):
It's the ongoing work that we're doing to make sure
that Western Australia can take advantage of the economic opportunities
in the Southeast Asian region. So obviously we're out there
talking to industry groups, talking to governments in the region
to see what opportunities there are. So in particular, I'm
traveling to Surabao in East Java. We have a sister
(30:34):
state relationship with East Java and they're bringing a Surabaian
soccer team over to Western Australia in July. This is
all part of celebrating the thirty fifth anniversary of that relationship.
So I'm going over there just to have some government
and business meetings to continue to promote Western Australia is
a great place to invest and a great place to
do trade with.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
Now, we are very very grateful to you have kindly
agreed to do us catch in a poorly drawn pets fundraiser.
We're raising money for the Cat Haven. Are you do
you have pets?
Speaker 2 (31:06):
I do.
Speaker 11 (31:07):
I've got a Burmese. Yeah, it is a fifteen year
old Burmese and bless him, he's he's getting on a
bit now.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
My Burmese is twenty and that's yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
They do well, Yeah, yeah, a gorgeous little cat.
Speaker 11 (31:21):
A big shout out to Terry and and yes, and
somehow I've managed to be recruited into this process of
trying to draw.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
And I'm looking at the cat here.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
This is hard to draw a cat.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
What you don't.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Remember is it's called poorly drawn pets.
Speaker 11 (31:41):
Well, I think I can make the expectations of a pet.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
You haven't look at a couple of the ones I've done,
and you'll feel fine.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Expectations are not high.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
But someone's going to have a Roger original wall of
their cat.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
What's what's Roger's got that. You'll see the name of Extraordinary.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
Pads or something CATLINI CC fan pads. Oh, this is brilliant.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Yeah, and look great calls.
Speaker 11 (32:10):
To draw a wonderful job. So I'm willing to humiliate
myself by exposing my dreadful drawing skills as part.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Of the cause. Well, we're over twelve hundred dollars roll
st already. It's incredible, fantastic exiety. Well done.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
I just think this morning, you know you would have
been in the car and you would have been going
through the agenda. You've got a meeting, top level meeting
with such and such cat radio fools.
Speaker 11 (32:34):
Hey, can I just before we go, can I just
a couple of shout outs for the WA Student Assistants payment, Right,
it's open. This is one of our key promises from
the election. So far, we've had one hundred and eighty
eight thousand, two hundred claims for that, representing about three
hundred and twenty nine thousand students, So any families that
haven't yet claimed their WA Student Assistance payment, it's one
(32:54):
hundred and fifty dollars for every KINDI or primary school
student and two hundred and fifty dollars for every high
school student in the household. Great cost of living relief.
So we hope everyone takes advantage.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
Of that, pushing two hundred thousand.
Speaker 3 (33:07):
Thank you for coming in, Thank you for drawing fans
with you.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
Guys, we'll shop in your pant.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
Have you ever traveled into work and it seems as
though the one car that you came up against early
is with your right until the end. Then when you
go your different ways, you feel like you should give
them away. Thanks for sharing the road, Stay safe on
your day.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
I had that finger. I was in the left lane,
they were in the right lane, and it was like
it wasn't a race. It was just like we're both
doing sixty all the way.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
You just happened to be the two share and it's just,
you know, it turns out that you're both heading into
the city.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
What about those days where I don't know where, there's
a lot of people when we're driving the work, A
lot of people are out there, maybe doing drop offs
at the airport or whatever, and you go, what are
you all doing here? Yes, this is my road.
Speaker 3 (33:50):
I used to find Tuesday mornings was very busy for
a bit of fire fo action.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
It must have been busy, flowing happening every day, but
you could.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
Usually tell because it was a little glow emanated from
inside their car where they've already got their high vis on.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
Ready Rock, I don't think you have to put it
onto you. Oh, they're dressed for work, because I go
straight to work. Pretty much, you can always tell what
it was.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
Five fight. There was a little little golden.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
Buzz coming off it, and if you could see inside
the car, many miserable faces because it's not as joyous
as when you're coming home for a breakfast.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
Oh maybe a just quietly relieved face.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
Who knows crazy And Lisa
