Speaker 2 (00:09):
On the podcast, Claresy was off sick today, so Smiley
and Barra stepped into his shoes, one shoe each. The
Prime Minister talked about the minimum wage going up and
meeting President Trump for the first time.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Later this month, Frio Doca Hayden Young.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Chat's about the win against the Suns and how he's
spending the bye. British actor Chris Marshall talks about series
three of Beyond Paradise, and we kicked off our pub
Crawl series with Peter Borg from Flash Harry. We haven't
spoken to the Big Boss since he was re elected
in a landslide. Prime Minister Anthony Albanezy is with us now.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
Good morning, good morning, wonderful to be back in person.
I've brought the rain.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Oh yeah, but look you know, I'm I for one,
am enjoying it, although Barra's not because his kitchen.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Flooded from the early hours of this morning.
Speaker 5 (00:55):
Oh what points you good?
Speaker 3 (00:56):
What brings you to town this week?
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Yesterday I brought the entire cabinet here. I had a
terrific meeting with the Premier and we announced further upgrade
of the Quanana Freeway, and I went down to Freo
Or near their Billia and went to the urgent care
clinic there. We're going to open another fifty there. And
(01:22):
it's been a real opportunity to come back and just
say thank you to the people of Western Australia. We
had a very successful election. Of course, we elected two
new members in Moore and Bullwinkle, and it was very
much a part of our re election and I want
to make sure that here in Wa, which helps to
(01:46):
drive a national economy, that we continue to work to
create jobs and that economic activity here.
Speaker 6 (01:54):
Mister Albanezi or do we call you mister Prime Minister
or alba? What do you prefer for me?
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Call me whatever you're like.
Speaker 6 (02:01):
I get called Barra. I'm not so great on the
barrel thing, but Albo.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
It's all of those are acceptable.
Speaker 6 (02:07):
It's great to speak to you, I believe as well.
Like you launched your campaigns here the last two elections,
didn't you, so you obviously love it over here, and
it's probably going to be a permanent thing. I'd reckon
as long as you keep winning.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
I reckon it's a you'd be a brave person who
suggested to me we should ever launch a campaign anywhere else,
given we're we're campaigns that have ever been launched here
in the West.
Speaker 6 (02:37):
Was sorry, I was going to I was just going
to say, I was impressed that you revealed that you
gave up drinking as well during that whole process. So
how is that?
Speaker 5 (02:47):
How did that go in January?
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Well, that went okay. Obviously was a matter of I mean,
I'm not a big drinker anyway, but it was just
a part of discipline and getting up early every morning,
late night. She did really long days. It was a
thirty seven day campaign. But it really began on January fifth.
(03:12):
I went around the country. I went up Queensland Coast,
through Mount Isaa, through Northern Territory to Kannanara down to
here in Perth, and that was essentially the first week
of January. So I kept going all the way through
and it was just a part of the discipline on
(03:34):
the campaign. Seem engaged.
Speaker 6 (03:38):
I've got to tip your elbows. Well, it's you know,
you have coug and Kuji, it's coug him. If you're
ever there as well, and Karen yup, don't say Karen yep.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
I always have to check a couple of.
Speaker 6 (04:01):
Renunciations, our behnger, I'm the Catholic in the room. Can
I ask the popcast?
Speaker 3 (04:07):
So as the popecast, did you have the pay gast?
Speaker 6 (04:10):
Okay, well.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
When not bite over?
Speaker 4 (04:15):
Pope Leo?
Speaker 6 (04:16):
Yes? Now, but your mum raised you with three great faiths,
so I heard you say the Labor Party, our Sydney
rabbit Os and the Catholic Church. So that trip to
see the Pope that must have been really meaningful, was it?
What did you learn from it?
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Was awesome. It was such a privilege to represent Australia
at the inaugural masks there in Saint Peters Square with
other world leaders and it was just quite a moment
in my life. And then I got an audience with
the Holy Father the next day and it was scheduled
(04:55):
for fifteen minutes and it went for forty five and
we had a real opportunity to hit it off with
each other. It was great hit it off.
Speaker 6 (05:04):
He loves tennis, donis.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
He does like tennis. They did get a mention as well.
I tried and played tennis. I actually got to play
in the Sydney Bad's Comp on Saturday. I missed the
early rounds from my team the Mighty Miracle, but I
did get to play on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
He has a standing invitation to the Australian Open, the part, he.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Has a standing invitation wherever he wanted to go.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
No, he's not a fan of you.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
In a couple of years, Prime.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Minister, the minimum wage around the country is going up
next month by three point five percent. What real life
impact does this have on some of Australia's households.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
Fantastics extra dollars in people's pockets, and together with the
income tax cuts that we're done already, but the ones
to come aimed at that first marginal tax rate that
kick in for low income earners, it will make a difference.
We know people have been doing it tough, there's cost
(06:13):
of living pressures there and we wanted to see a
real wage increase and real wages have now increased for
the last eighteen months and what that's doing is making
a real difference to people. And of course those people
spend money as well. They're not in a position to
be able to save, so it helps the economy as well.
(06:35):
So we really welcome it. It will make a practical difference,
not an enormous increase. Three point five percent of the
inflation rate is two point four so that's an increase
of over one percent in people to real wages.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
I just I mean, it's sort of that, coupled with
the mortgage relefe just kind of helps with people's outlook
and sort of hope for the future.
Speaker 6 (07:01):
There is one fellow You've got to watch though, isn't
it that you like Rita Safiotti, When you wake up
in the morning at five am, you see what Trump
he's been up to you and go, oh my god,
what's he done today? Is that how it works?
Speaker 3 (07:11):
He's broken up with his bestie.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
It is that. I do see there's a bit of
tension between mister Mark and President Trump. No, but look
with it's just something that we're dealing with. We'll do
with it respectfully. He's been elected. We respect that outcome.
And the United States is important for the global economy,
(07:35):
and it's not so much directly what will impact on
us of some of these tariffs. That's a slow down
in the global economy that will have an impact, and
that's why we've said it's an active economic self harm tariffs.
All they're doing is increasing prices for American consumers. So
it's a strange economic strategy in twenty twenty five, but
(07:58):
it's one that we're having to do.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
The G seventh Summit is later this month. In fact,
that's where you will meet with President Trump. Have you
met him in person before?
Speaker 6 (08:08):
What's he like? No?
Speaker 4 (08:10):
I haven't. I've had three phone conversations with him and
there've been really good conversations, constructive and of course he
has a particular style of speech.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
Of course, there are lots.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
Of adjectives that he uses to describe things. There's never
half measures, and it.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Was the mossy slang.
Speaker 6 (08:35):
I say, that'll get a trumpy.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
What are the dinners like at those things?
Speaker 6 (08:42):
The G seven mate, you'd have a WhatsApp. You'd have
a WhatsApp with him as well, with you some for
sure of think.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Well, one of the things that I find in talking
at forums like that is I engage the same way
that I'd engage at any forum here. Yeah, I think
people appreciate the fact that Australians are pretty down to earth.
We say what we mean, we're respectful, but we engage
(09:11):
pretty directly. Yeah, they do, and I just you know,
I'll go up, say gooday and talk about what we
have in common. Where there are some differences, we'll try
and talk those through and get some solutions in the
national interest.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
I think Bara wants to wrap things up. Godspeed we go.
Speaker 6 (09:35):
If you need me, can I just be frivolous for
one second, because I know you're a huge music fan
and you used to be a DJ and all that
sort of stuff, but you're also a big fan of
my friend Lisa, one of her bands, the Ramones. Right absolutely, now,
be honest. Have you ever wanted to yell out in Parliament?
Hey w let's go, let's go.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
You know what in the twenty twenty two election campaign
when it was announced by by mister Morris and I
stood at the press comments and I finished off with
right out as as the great Ramones would say, Hey ho,
let's go, campaign director. He's a real wowser. Yeah, and
(10:21):
hopefully he sees his transcript. Said mate, you've got to
stop the music references. They're really they're really obscure. And
I said, no, it is what it is. I'm going
to keep doing it.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
You know what, if you know.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
You know it used to work it in.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Yeah, yeah, all right, Well on that note, it's good
enjoy your time here is always Should I go now?
Speaker 6 (10:46):
I wanted to ask you when you were djaying, what
was this song that really filled the dance floor that
you pulled out? But anyway, that'd be another day.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
Am I ever going to see your face again? Way participation?
Speaker 3 (11:02):
You are the man that could change that. As the
national anthem officially Prime Minstrabanezi, thanks for chatting to us.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
Thanks very much, guys.
Speaker 1 (11:13):

How did they do that? Amazing?
Speaker 3 (11:40):
Just all in one take incredible. The fifteen year old who.

I think we will see a lot more.
Speaker 6 (12:06):
It's going to be a star.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
I've got an update this morning on the upcoming second
season of Netflix's breakout comedy Gosh.
Speaker 3 (12:12):

to be happy to hear this. Slow Horses on Apple
TV will return for season five on September twenty fourth.
That is much sooner than we expected. They must do,
you know, a couple of seasons all in one go.
When they do this, I love that show.
Speaker 6 (13:04):
It's like an anti woke show. Cranky white Man.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
Was the best Cranky white Man.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Hailey Joel Osmond. You remember the little fella from the
sixth Sense.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
He's all grown up.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
He's been caught ordered to start going to AA meetings
following a public intoxication arrest. Nowadays, when he sees dead people,
he sees too.
Speaker 6 (13:26):
Just a Joe about forty, wouldn't he.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
More czy? More podcast soon?
Speaker 2 (13:36):
If your child was named after the pub or club
you used to go to a lot around the time
they were conceived, what would their name be?
Speaker 6 (13:48):
Is this about the Pinocchio's thing? This surely is non.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Called Pinocchio, my little Pinocchio.
Speaker 6 (13:52):
If someone rings up with Pinocchio went into my son
would have been named Gobbles, Havana, Gobbles, rumors, barretts, sound.
Speaker 5 (14:07):
Love.
Speaker 6 (14:07):
It's not actually actually Eagle one barriage there that works,
it actually works.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
I guess it would be.
Speaker 6 (14:16):
An Eagle two for the second King three, Eagle four.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
Now we don't mean they were conceived at the pub
or club, although that, you know, may be the case,
in which case it would suit their name even more.
But if your child was named after the pub or
club you used to go to a lot around the
time they were conceived, what would their name be? Matthew
and several Groves says their name would be called Tropo.
Oh yeah, club Tropo. Jake and Inglewood says my son
(14:44):
would be Hippie club Hamish. I reckon there be a
few little hippie clubs around if we've been doing this.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
Let's go the phones. Johnny home, O, good morning, you good.
What would their name be?
Speaker 7 (14:56):
I think it has to be the short shortened so
would be nook shortness overflow.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Yeah, either would be as.
Speaker 6 (15:09):
Bad as overflow. Probably not the one.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
Yeah, thanks John? Oh no, you don't want to be o.
Speaker 6 (15:16):
F not.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Something else? Isn't Adam in Alchemas? What would yours be?
Speaker 5 (15:23):
That's a cool mine.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
Scaley wagg after scal wag gally wags.
Speaker 5 (15:28):
Where was that?
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Scaley wags big a big myth, A big myth for
people south of the river.
Speaker 6 (15:40):
Thanks, Adam. Can't be as bad as gobbles?
Speaker 5 (15:44):
Remember Dan, Dan the hot dog man right outside gobbles.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
No, I don't. I like the superlarkey at three o'clock
in the water like garlic sauce.
Speaker 6 (15:54):
I was big on the underground too, but underground barriage
probably didn't see barage gobbles, Pasco. That's going to.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Stick that love it, Christian ball Divers, Good morning.
Speaker 7 (16:06):
Would be the leisure in.
Speaker 6 (16:11):
Rock and am singing pig Paradise.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
It's a mouthful the leisure in ye? Thanks Christie. Well
I maybe a neette in Maranguro. What have you got
for us?
Speaker 1 (16:22):
Hey?
Speaker 4 (16:23):
If if my child was named.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
After where we used to go to be hot gossip.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Hot gossip, it would be wouldn't it hot gossip puller hand?
Speaker 6 (16:34):
Is it all?
Speaker 3 (16:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (16:39):
However, one of my children was conceived on the narrows,
so their name really could be narrow.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Narrows.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
We found track how that happened?
Speaker 6 (16:55):
I hope you pulled over. I didn't need the time.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
I don't know, stop myself right there, para.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Thanks Paul in Jodler.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
What would yours be?
Speaker 7 (17:08):
Morning Morning Narrows. That's a good flat at spot there.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
Yeah, just be careful next time.
Speaker 7 (17:15):
Yeah, absolutely, you know I would have to be blowy
in the fish theme because of a Superflies nightclub in Dumbery.
Speaker 6 (17:25):
Superflies Superflies are Blowy? Which one are you going with?
Speaker 7 (17:29):
Superflies is the name, but blow is the nickname for it. Yeah,
I always was to go.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
I don't think you want that to be.
Speaker 6 (17:36):
Kid, I want to be called Blowy. It cracks me out,
Thank you. I do know. This would be singing a.
Speaker 8 (17:47):
Man at work song to twelve hundred people and men
at work to began the roads.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
I don't need did the people party in the venue?
Speaker 1 (17:52):
But the bands was a wave like colesyly says Perf
Pub Crawl at Pinocchio's Magnet.
Speaker 8 (17:57):
Houses, resurrecting Pinocchio's one night Hotly.
Speaker 9 (18:01):
Magnet House, a mecca of dance and.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
Diversity right in the heart of the city. Per Pub Crawl.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Special guests this morning is Peterborg from Flash Harry.
Speaker 8 (18:11):
Good morning, good morning, thanks very much for having me.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Thank you so much for coming in. Now, Flash Harry
tell us how the band got together.
Speaker 8 (18:19):
Wow, there's two bands actually, so the three of us
in one band and another three in the other. The
other band was a band called the Reserves, and they
happened to have the backdrops and the bits and pieces,
so we all got together and had a manager who
sent us up up north to get her act together. Okay,
(18:43):
y do a bit of learning.
Speaker 6 (18:45):
Now, tell how about this could be taken it a
couple of weeks. I love this. Susan's put down your
favorite venues here some great memories. The Generator, Raffles, the
windsor the Floriad. Would you like Overflow? The Overflow? Smile?
It was my least. What about you? Where were you
the worry Oh windsor the windsor of course? Yeah, I'm
(19:07):
sure I saw you at the Charles as well Pinocchio's.
But did you have a favorite venue yourself?
Speaker 5 (19:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (19:14):
I think all of them were great. I did love
the Generator at Morley. That was a rip of venue,
and the Overflow. The Overflow was such a huge venue,
and we enjoyed doing the occasional Monday nook and Busters.
Speaker 6 (19:29):
We had a bloke ringing about the nook and Busters.
Speaker 8 (19:31):
Yeah yeah, And it was about our only chance that
we could actually catch up with the other bands around
because everyone was working so hard, you know, five six
nights a week playing.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Well those good guys.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
You know the paper, you would you would sort of
study that thing like my grandfather used to study the
form guide to work out where you were going, but
just almost yeah, for almost every night of the week.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
So there was good camaraderie among the bands. Then yes,
absolutely still his yeah and still is.
Speaker 5 (20:02):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Oh, that's awesome to know.
Speaker 8 (20:04):
It's great. You know there's a lot of us that
are still playing, which is which is great to see.
And you know we we all share bands and promote
each other, which is great.
Speaker 6 (20:13):
And you're living in mandra now and gigging once a month.
But I remember when used to do the coultures or covers,
and I'm pretty sure that was at the Charles. But
you know, Jimmy's here, you's here this weekend the week
have you opened for him or anything like that?
Speaker 8 (20:27):
We we did. We used to have a regular gig
and a Sunday at the Generator, And when Jimmy first
started a solo career, he came over and played the
Generators rather than us lose the gig, we had the
PA system and what have you, and he came along
and we opened for him, which was awesome, very loud.
(20:49):
I can still hear it.
Speaker 6 (20:51):
There's no way your lead singer was tired, wasn't it
could getting because Jimmy is so special.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
A trick throw basically Jimmy. I don't know the medical term,
but that's.
Speaker 6 (21:04):
That's a technical term that we've come up with. But
you can't you can't match it. He screams.
Speaker 8 (21:09):
Yeah that's right. Yeah, Well he's got a unique force.
But so did Ty. I could do a Steve Perry
crit ah.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
And having said that, you were people said you did
do the best cultures will covers.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
Yes, I'm not just saying that. This is you know.
Speaker 6 (21:26):
Said I'm the person who said that.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
Did you tour overseas at all? Ever? Interstates?
Speaker 8 (21:33):
No? No, no, no, no, Like the scene back then
in Perth was was so busy. Yeah, we were literally
for about four or five years just playing in Perth constantly.
Speaker 6 (21:44):
And you've got a great story about meat life, haven't you.
He come and stuck in the AFL Grand Final when
he lost the plot.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
But this is a bit earlier, a bit.
Speaker 6 (21:53):
Earlier when he was really firing. He tell us about him.
Speaker 8 (21:57):
I was back around eighty five. I think he came
over on a tour and we were very fortunate to
be asked to open for him at the Entertainment Center.
So yeah, I won and only time at the Center,
which was oneerful as a as a musician, I'd been
there many times to see many of the bands. I
remember ninety six is first first give there in nineteen eighty. Yes, yeah,
(22:21):
there was a door prize which was a door.
Speaker 6 (22:24):
Is that Midnight or was that the.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Midnight nine six shows?
Speaker 8 (22:28):
I think so. I actually think it was Chisel.
Speaker 6 (22:30):
They gave away a door probably, Yeah, yeah, the door
added meet Life gave the Big fellow. Look.
Speaker 8 (22:39):
We'd heard that he'd actually broken his leg prior to
that by the swimming pool over in Brisbane, but he
carried on, you know, he carried on and no one
knew he had leg. Yeah, unbelievable. I mean at the
end of the gig, the poor fellow was carried off,
but he did the gig and no one knew.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
You thought only did that in Grandfather.
Speaker 6 (23:02):
We can relate to that. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
So does the band still perform together, Peter that I
know you did a reunion tour at the Charles just
got your feet unstuck from the covert Charles, Oh gosh, yeah.
Speaker 8 (23:16):
That's right. We got back together again in twenty sixteen,
just for a one off gig, but no we all
do our own thing these days. Ties over in the
Central Coast. He, after he left the band in the eighties,
joined a band called the Bombers. I don't know if you
remember the Bombers. It was Alan Lancaster and Johnny Coglin
(23:36):
from Status Quo and John Brewster from The Angels. Yes, yep, yeah, and.
Speaker 6 (23:45):
Some big names. I wanted to ask you, actually, Peter Borg,
so that if you could collaborate with any Aussie musician,
living or dead, whose top of your list? Who are
the guys that you idolize or the women?
Speaker 8 (24:00):
Oh, the pretty bright I used to enjoy Matt Moffatt
from from Matt Finish. I mean he passed away in
a little while ago. What a voice.
Speaker 6 (24:14):
So Jimmy, he'll be filthy that has Jimmy.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
I mean, that's that one. That's that box is ticked.
Speaker 6 (24:22):
What about this? If you're a DJ, if I was
okay and you had to do some songs dedicated to
your influences, would there be a couple of songs there

I loved James Rayn We are you talking about Lisa
used to have stonewashed jeans acid wash? There all sorts
of shopping at Renoise, shopping at what was that? What
(25:28):

Hayden Hello, also good.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
I'm good. Just a heads up close He's off six today,
so warning Will Robinson. I've got Barra here out with me.
Hello and Smiley as well. Now free.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
I beat the Suns by eleven points at People First
Stadium on the Gold Coast on Saturday. Fantastic wins seventy
five to sixty four. Barrow, you had a question, no
a statement.
Speaker 6 (26:40):
It says here its official flag mantle is back on.
But I wasn't going to say that, Young because I
know that you've changed your tactics. Now it's one week
at a time, and I get that. I really reckon
that's great, But you were on the Gold Coast, so
that's a massive win. At least just mentioned. Did you
head out afterwards or you know they still have Jupiter's Casino.
Speaker 9 (26:59):
Up Most of the boys actually actually flew home. But
it was a good feeling in the rooms after the game.
I think we all knew it was pretty tough to
win up there, and Gold Coaster were in good form
this year, so yeah, it was a pretty gutsy win
by the boys, and yeah, we all really enjoyed it.
After the game, and yeah, most of the lads headed home.
A few people headed in different directions because we obviously
(27:22):
got the got the buy this week, so the boys
had a few days off. So nah, but everyone was
in high spirits.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
Football loves the statistic. I like this one.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Gold coasted the number one team in the competition for
scoring from forward half intercepts, but.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
On Saturday it was Freo who generated.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
More forward half intercepts, converting them into the scoring advantage.
Speaker 5 (27:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (27:45):
No, it was definitely a seam of the game. I
thought our pressure was really evident throughout the whole game,
and I suppose the condition sometimes helped that when it's
a little bit slipperer, But I thought, you know, everyone
bought into our pressure method, and I thought we pressured
them really well over score of course turnovers and as
a resort kicked some goals. So I thought our team
(28:05):
d and our pressure was on all day, and that's
part of our DNA, and it's good that we've been
able to sort of find that consistently in the last
few weeks.
Speaker 6 (28:13):
Now, g Man take us through this. The last moments
of the game, two massive incidents, two big moments that
needed to be one to win the game. Andy bracehaw
raw courage could have been knocked out. And then Shaye
Bolton Stackle after Jacko Shankety's kick, he would have been
the most relieved block on the ground. I reckon when
it went across the ground Bolton Stackle. Those two moments
(28:38):
so significant, weren't.
Speaker 9 (28:39):
They They were massive. I was in the box, in
the coach's box, and it was pretty tense up there
in those last few minutes because we knew they were coming.
But yeah, and he just stood up in a big moment,
and I suppose in that passage of play it felt like,
you know, we had the ball in sort of our
forward forward half, but we were struggling to get numbers
of the contest. And I think something that any of
(28:59):
us really well is he's really hard work and his
work rates elite, and he was able to get across
and help and win a really critical contest for us.
And then Bolts was just an unreal effort. I mean,
no one thought he was going to get there, and
he just mowed him down and essentially won the game
for us. And yeah, it was pretty funny when Doug
had kicked that ball across the goal and everyone in
(29:21):
the coach's box sort of their hearts dropped with it
on and then Bolts just made a massive play. And
I think there was moments like that throughout the whole
day really where we just had people stand up in
big moments and make a play. And yeah, it was
really pleasing that we were able to do that away
from home and without the sort of the home crowd
behind us, and we were able to bring our own energy.
Speaker 6 (29:43):
When he was banging the desk because you were in
the box. That's good to know because I've never seen
Justin so excited and banging the desk like that. I
hope you didn't hurt your knee or anything under the
desk there. But what did you think when he was
doing that, because you don't see that from Justin very often.
Speaker 9 (29:58):
No, he was pretty happy on the we can to
be honest, Well, I thought we played a pretty good
brand of footy and most of the stuff most of
the time in the box was pretty positive and there
was a few things we weren't getting done at stoppage
that was frustrating a few of us in the box.
But he was pretty up and about. But I think
when he when he knew they were coming. You can
probably say he was pretty tense because he was on
(30:19):
his feet, And yeah, I think it was just a
massive relief when you know, we got that goal and
sort of ic the game, and I just showed how
much it means to everyone involved with the Free club.
Speaker 6 (30:30):
Did you yet a little bit? Come on, young? Did
you yell out a little bit? Did you scream?
Speaker 9 (30:34):
I did. I've been trying to keep quiet all that.
It's it's not my job in there to be causing
constructive Ruckus. That was the moment where I was able
to let go of it.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
So it's pretty hard Ruckus. Allowed.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
You're in Melbourne because you know, spend some time with
the family because the Dockers had the buy this weekend.
But sitting eighth on the ladder and the games after
the buye are all looking at dre say, very winnable
games North Essendon's and Kildren and Sydney, it must be
a very happy little team.
Speaker 9 (31:07):
Yeah, certainly, it's nice to be back playing footy that
we want to play. And yeah, we set ourselves up
now to stay at home for a few weeks, which
is also a benefit. We travel a lot of the
team and I think the boys. Really we're going to
appreciate having some time back in Perth and playing some
home games. So yeah, we've set ourselves up now and
(31:28):
this next few days is a great opportunity to reset,
just relax the minds and bodies and get ready to go.
Speaker 6 (31:36):
Now. One for the radio news Hayden, just preparing you
did the buy come at the wrong time? My friend?
Because you guys are on fire one three straight. It's
happened before, isn't that where you go? If we could
just roll on and smash teams? What can you give
us there, my friend?
Speaker 5 (31:56):
I don't know.
Speaker 9 (31:56):
I don't know if there's ever the right time for
a BI I think if you ask a few of
the boys, particularly after that game, when they've pulled up
a little bit sore, I think they'd say it's come
at the right time, I reckon.
Speaker 5 (32:07):
So yeah, it's.
Speaker 9 (32:09):
That's certainly good for a few sore bodies throughout the group.
But I mean, I know what you mean when in
terms of we've got a bit of momentum and the
challenge is now can we keep it going? And I
suppose that's the exciting thing that we got ahead of us.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Yes, as a.
Speaker 9 (32:22):
Group, it's something that we might have not done well
in the past, but we're really looking forward to the
opportunity and I feel like we've certainly found a bit
of a formula or we know what's working well from
us and we just want to keep the ball rolling.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Let's say you're spoiled for by choice at the moment,
So enjoy the break, enjoy the bye, and we'll see
you back in town next week.
Speaker 9 (32:42):
See you next week.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
Thanks bye. All right, we are returning to Shipton Abbitt
for a thrilling.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
New series of the hugely successful Beyond Paradise and joining
us now do I Humphrey Gordon himself, Chris Marshall, Good morning.
Speaker 5 (32:57):
Good morning, how are you very very well?
Speaker 2 (33:00):
Now season three available doesn't stream exclusively on brit Box.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
What can you tell us?
Speaker 5 (33:07):
Well, you know season three it's it's bigger, it's better,
it's available of bread Box and it's yeah, it's you know,
we've got more puzzles, more drama, more jigsaws with of
course democrats that you can watch it with your mom
and your dad, your dog, everyone. You know, it's all good.
It's yeah, you know, I love it. You know, I
(33:29):
guess when you hit a third season of the series,
everyone feels a bit more comfortable in their shoes to
show what it is. Yeah, and we're really striving for that.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
So yeah, everyone, one thing happening in season three. There's
a wonderful reunion this season. Abdolph Sailors makes a cameo
your best friend from well, a certain movie that you've
you've spent enough time talking.
Speaker 3 (33:50):
About over the years. We won't do that, but that
must have been fun to film.
Speaker 5 (33:56):
Yeah, it was wonderful.
Speaker 6 (33:57):
You know.
Speaker 5 (33:58):
It's sort of an active thing. Really. You don't see
each other for twenty years and you just pick up
where you're left off, and it's just like old time. Yeah,
it's strange though's a bit slightly different. You know. Now
twenty years on, I'm playing at inspector. He was playing
a psychiatrist and not to two youngsters and one with
a bag of condoms on his back, you know.
Speaker 6 (34:20):
So, Chris, can you believe that it's twenty years since love?
Actually though, that's that's staggered me just when you said that.
Speaker 5 (34:30):
Yeah, well, actually it's twenty three since we fund it.
So yeah, I mean, where's that time gone? Who knows?
Speaker 3 (34:39):
Now?
Speaker 2 (34:39):
Do you watch other crime shows? Since becoming a detective
inspector yourself, do you watch other crime shows in a
different light?
Speaker 5 (34:48):
I do, Yeah, I mean I'm not a huge watcher
of crime shows at the moment. It's a bit like
it's a bit like a bustman's holiday, it's like going
to work.
Speaker 6 (34:57):
Yes, sure, but.
Speaker 5 (34:59):
You know, I was hugely influenced by the sort of
big crime shows of the eighties and nineties. You know,
your Colombo, you Miss Marple, the Rocket File, they're all
great influence.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
They're all American BRIT's make the best crime shows there are.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
Yeah, Miss Marvel's American.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
Mis Marple's not Rockford Files is.
Speaker 5 (35:24):
Yeah, profiles. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah I do. I
do watch the occasional detective show I mean, of which
there are many, but yeah, it's.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
There's a few.
Speaker 5 (35:36):
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 6 (35:39):
It's a bit like you speak a bit more clearly
than Colombo, that's for sure. Chris. Can I ask you,
after playing a detective for so many years, have you
ever used those skills in real life, like, you know,
finding your car keys or who stole your garden gnome
or something. You had a crack at solving crimes in
your own community garden.
Speaker 5 (36:02):
No, I definitely use those skills to try and fight,
but it's better. But yeah, but I don't really use
you know what, I'm terrible. I'm absolutely awful, and I
thank god I've got a script in front of me
because because and you know, I'm not good at losing
stuff as well. I can never find my car keys.
(36:23):
I've got this funny thing with talking of cahrkies, I've
got this funny keering where you where you can whistle
for your car keys. Yes, it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Yeah,
So I can't use those skills unfortunately, because that I
don't possess them.
Speaker 6 (36:44):
Sounds like as the I Humphrey, it sounds like you're
more an accidental genius, are you rather than Sherlock Holmes
in that show? Would that be the way to describe it?
Speaker 5 (36:54):
Well, I think I think his brilliance is that he disarms,
he decides he's disarming whilst arming himself with the truth.
So yeah, I think he's he And I always toy
with the idea of how much he knows, how early
he knows it, and then how how much he's using
that knowledge to unpick the person who's the main antagonist,
(37:18):
So I don't know. I don't know how much he knows.
A toy with this and always have over the last
twelve years I've played the character, and I sort of
I don't know how much I should know when I
should know it, because whether that makes him cynical, I
don't know. So I sort of play with that a
little bit, but I think he I think he knows
early on.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
Yeah, it's film you're filming south as Cornwall that, I mean,
that must be tough. What a beautiful But I haven't
been there, but it is so high up on my
bucket list or whatever they say of places you want
to go.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
It just looks like such a beautiful part of the world.
Speaker 5 (37:57):
Yeah, it's gorgeous, you know, and it's some you know,
a lot of people don't really think of the beautiful
beaches and blue sea and good stuff. But that's that's
kind of what Devon and Cornwall is. It's you know,
it's right at the two last counties of the peninsula
in the southwest of the UK, so we stick right
(38:20):
out into the Atlantic Ocean and yeah the sea is cold.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
Yeah not a shark.
Speaker 5 (38:29):
Yeah, But I myself, I always have so spend a
lot of time also on the West coast of Australia
and East You.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
Made a movie here, Yeah, I made a.
Speaker 5 (38:41):
Movie in Perth about nine years ago. Less man. Yes,
I have a cousin who lives in city beach, so amazing.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
If we don't do a bad beach.
Speaker 5 (38:53):
Here, no, I know I would. I lived in Codderslow,
South codders Low as well, so yeah, yeah, I used to,
you know, I used to run along the boardwalk the
pasta the where the snake signs Yeah brilliant.
Speaker 6 (39:09):
A lot more chances to wear linen over here too,
which you wouldn't get in Cornwall. I'd reckon as well.
My friend, how many times a week do people yell out, hey,
you're the bloke from Love? Actually, do you got that
much shirt? Can I ask you that I did?
Speaker 3 (39:23):
I did tell him not to push it too much Love?
Speaker 6 (39:26):
Actually he did.
Speaker 5 (39:28):
It's pretty omni present in my life. It's not explaining
it to my kids as well. People are asking why
he has a large appendage or if he has a lot.
Speaker 6 (39:42):
Because my son idolizes him from that show. My son
idolizes you the way with your accent. He wants to
go to America and use his accent, just like Chris
Marshall did in Love.
Speaker 5 (39:54):
Actually know what it's it's a it's a cliche because
it's true.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
There are worse things you could be famous for, Chris,
but beyond Paradise Season three also famous for available to
stream now exclusively.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
I have BritBox. I'll put you onto BritBox Parox. We'll
be straight on to that. Lovely to chat to.
Speaker 5 (40:18):
You, Chris, amazing to chat to you. Have a great
day going
Speaker 6 (40:21):
You too crazy And Lisa
