On today’s show Lisa had questions about Warren Capper’s cosmetic surgery.

Hayden Young from The Dockers was in to chat with Clairsy & Lisa about Freo’s tight win against North Melbourne over the weekend and the team’s training regime for tomorrow’s game.

Inspired by the recent closure of the Louvre, Clairsy & Lisa opened the phones to ask about what you didn’t get to do on holiday?

Kav Temperley phoned in to give the guys the lowdown on his upcoming variety show ‘Christmas In July (And Those Boxing Sales)’ and spoke about the actor that inspired the Eskimo Joe song - Foreign Land.

On The Shaw Report, the guys get excited by the prospect of an upcoming AC/DC Australian tour. It’s been revealed the new Pope has some interesting (distant) celebrity relatives plus Lisa revealed the hilarious reason Will Smith turned down a role in Christopher Nolan’s Inception.

Plus, Clairsy had his Tragic Music Box open and took us back to 1984 when you could rent a house in Floreat for $48 week and Greg Norman dominated the golf circuit.

AFL vend use for five years. That was an interesting
choice apparently played up in a box or something at
the Grand Final last year.

The stage in the AFL season where the key is
just to get the four points, just get the win,
and the doctor has got it against North Melbourne by
six points at off the Stadium on Saturday seventy three
to sixty seven, hating young our docor get it mate?

Speaker 5 (02:21):
Are you very good morning morning.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Good to see you. It was in the wet it
got pretty tight in me and then we did we got.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
A bit too tight. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we looked, we
were looking good at one stage and then yeah, they
sort of came came home strong light, which was a
little bit frustrating because it felt like we had the game,
you know, sorded, and then yeah, we probably just dropped
the ball with our team d and a bit of
our contest work, and yeah it was. We had a

(02:50):
pretty strong review, to be honest, because although we got
the four points and it's nice to keep winning and
keep the momentum up, we do know that against really
quality oppositions, North ark a good opposition, but against sort
of the top four teams that we want to be
playing against in September, we know that that type of
foot he probably won't cut it. So we had a
solid review and looked at some areas of our game

(03:11):
that probably dropped away in the last quarter and there's
probably a bit of a theme there even against in
the previous weeks against GWS, I sort of had a
few goals late, and yeah, we just want to make
sure that going forward we play one hundred and twenty
minutes of footy because yeah, we know against really good
opposition that if you give him a sniffy they might
take the win off you. So yeah, very happy to

(03:32):
get the four points, but we can't rely on playing
that sort of footy going forward.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
There were lots of good bits Tracey's match winning mark,
Caleb Sarong and Andy Brayshaw. But what about Sam Swerkaltski.
How severe is his hamstring injury.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
I don't think it's too bad. Yeah, he was running
a training yesterday, which is a good science. Yeah, hopefully,
because yeah, he was a really important play for us.
I thought he I don't know how many touches he had,
but he went one hundred percent efficiency. So and he's
just a great connector between our mids and forwards. So
hopefully we don't miss him for too long. But it
was good to see him running yesterday.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
You know, a thing or two about hamstring injuries.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
I got around him.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
How did you company injuries?

Speaker 5 (04:15):
Yeah, get it right mate, You'll be fine.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
LISTA mentioned Josh Tracy. There is that? Can you tell
us from the inside? Is that a deliberate thing for
him to go down back? Is that? Is he taking
that on himself? Is that? What is that? Because he's
strong Mark know.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
Yeah, no, he's He's usually our man that goes back
when the game gets tight. We sort of have a
game plan when we want to finish off the game
and we're trying to hold onto a lead. And yeah,
usually usually the big Hnah goes back. And as you said,
he's a great Mark, so we can rely on him.
And yeah, he had a pretty good moment there at
the end of the game and then kicked.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
It out nervous chatting the boys. What did I do
that for?

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Well, it's a very quick turnaround because the Dockers now
play Essendon tomorrow at Opter Stadium. Just the team prepared
differently when it's such a short turnaround.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Yeah, a little bit.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
It's obviously a short week, so you get onto the
review pretty quick, you wrap that up and then you
move on pretty quick to the next game. So we
did that yesterday we had training and review previewed Essendon,
and training is also a lot lighter because you've obviously
you're trying to focus on recovery. So the boys got
out in the track yesterday and did a few drills,

(05:25):
but largely this week's just been about resting, ut recovering
and just getting ready to go this week.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Yeah, Mabe, was it weird? I just want to very
quickly touch on how weird it is to have an
away game against North Melbourne at home because all the
colors and the school board and everything was all blue
and white for North Melbourne. Did it feel a bit strange?

Speaker 5 (05:43):
It was a little bit strange.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Yeah, it was. It was a weird feeling.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
But it was also great that we had so many
fans that came out and almost it did make it
feel like a home game, and which is a great advantage.
But I thought wearing the stealth kit was awesome. I
thought that it's really cool and I feel like our
fans love that. But yeah, it was a bit strange
rolling into the ground and not seeing the purple banners

(06:07):
around the Yeah. Yeah, and our usual pregame entertainment, we
didn't have the guitarists on the roof, which wasn't quite
the same, But no, I think it was a great
thing for our club. We're able to get another game
played it opt us in front of a lot of
our fans, which our fans I'm sure appreciated.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Members will be back in the normal seats on Thursday.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Yeah, well that's confusing, isn't it. Essendon's a bit injury
ravaged at the moment. Does this make you quietly confident about.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
Not necessarily, they can still be quite a dangerous team.
They've got some pretty good players still running around out there.
And yeah, I suppose in the past when we have
probably underestimated in opposition, it's got the better of us
and we've probably underperformed. So that's something that we're conscious of.
We know that we got to play one hundred and
twenty minutes of our best footy against everyone that we play.

(06:54):
And the reality is, if we're looking to play finals
this year, it doesn't matter who we play. We want
to we want to play our way. We want to
play for one hundred and twenty minutes and if it
is a weaker opposition, then we want to win thoroughly.
We want to smash him. And we're not sure what
Essendon they're going to bring this weekend, but our focus
is going to be on us playing our best foota
for as long as possible.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Will that include another wagon the goal because I love
it when he kicks goal. Hey, he just goes off
and everyone loves him as well.

Speaker 6 (07:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (07:22):
Yeah, so sort of that heart and soul player who
does whatever the team needs and it's nice to see
him get rewarded and kick a goal.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
And he's been in multiple clubs, so he's loving the.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
Yeah, fiftieth game on the weekend for the club, which
is just amazing. He's worked so hard to get the
opportunity and yeah, he's doing a great job for the team.
And I think it just shows when he did kick
his goal, so many players got to him and celebrated
with him. And it's good to say.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Any concerns about state of origin being there tonight and
the ground, the state of it, state of ground.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
Yeah, I think they've done a great job this year.
Actually the ground's been in great conditions, so hopefully it
holds up all good. But I'm looking forward to watching it,
which would be good.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
Well bounced down tomorrow, is it six'.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Ten fans are encouraged to get to the game early
gates open at four thirty and download of purchasing tickets
on the app before the game will probably be the
way to.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
Go good, luck.

Speaker 2 (08:14):

rain will be rained out pretty much by tomorrow. Morning

Speaker 3 (20:07):
Wonderful now you have teased some surprise guests at the,
show AND i understand the concept of surprise is to
be surprised on the, night but can you give us any.

Speaker 7 (20:16):
Clues, well my only clue is that is it a musical.
GUEST i, mean you assume That i'm just going to
have musical. Guests you don't know that it could be
a guest of any. Description so that's my only.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Clue could be a, docker you never.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
Know that's a great, idea.

Speaker 7 (20:37):
Kicking a football out into the, Crowd football out into the.
Crowd now that sounds like a great.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
Idea you Get twitter or right down. There, yeah absolutely sounds.
Good sounds. Good. Mate have you got a song that
the fans absolutely and you've got a lot of. Them
the fans can't let you leave the building without? Playing
is it one that they just? Know, sorry, boys but
you can't.

Speaker 7 (20:55):
Leave, yeah there's a. Couple really we. SUES i, mean you,
know if we don't Play Black Singer Red wine be a,
riot if we don't Play from The sea Or.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
Foreign lands a.

Speaker 7 (21:05):
Riot there's a couple and luckily we don't mind playing.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
Them you mentioned Foreign.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
Land we just saw an article recently About Foreign land
being inspired by the passing Of Heath.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
Ledger is that a true?

Speaker 7 (21:20):
Story, yeah it is a pretty. Story it was LIKE
i kind of wrote that song just after we had
played this big gala In New york Called GOODAY, usa
And heath was meant to be one of the guests
of honor and we only got told literally moments as
we were about to walk down the red carpet that
he'd passed. Away and we, were you, know quite quite

(21:42):
shocked because he was a young talented guy From, Perth Western,
australia where we were, from and it turned out he'd
died literally streets away from WHERE i was walking that,
afternoon just as it had stud to. Snow so it
was it was one of those kind of very affecting
moments AND i just had to kind of write it all.
Down and by the time we got back to person
and everyone was, like all, Right, cav what's what are

(22:04):
we going to? Write what's? That because we're just about
to start writing our follow up album To Black. Fingernails
AND i was, like, Well i've got this and it
was like a. Ballad WHEN i first. Started it was
this really, quiet, heartbreaking a minor kind of. Ballad But i'd,
also you, know we've been playing in front of these really,
big massive audiences and so we needed a big rock
and roll. Song so we literally got the ballad and

(22:24):
just you, know made it rock and roll and that's the.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Song just cranked it. Up but speaking of losing people
to many of, Us Brian wilson from The Beach boys
as a, songwriter what effect did that have on? You
he's passing last.

Speaker 7 (22:35):
Week, well you, know he was one of the, great
not just in his, songwriting but in his production as.
Well and so it's one of those tricky. Things you,
know as people get, older you, know you expect that
they're going to pass at some point in. Time but he.
Was he was a significant, talent AND i guess the
passing of him kind of you, know it forms a
massive changing of the guard as far as you, know

(22:56):
those real innovators from that era are starting to, pass
and that's a big.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Deal Brian wilson and Sly stone in The One week
wasn't a good.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
ONE i, no how amazing with sly.

Speaker 7 (23:09):
AND i just watched the documentary on him, ACTUALLY.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
I think the one that got mucked up at The
oscars question.

Speaker 7 (23:18):
Yes ironically called Sly, Lives, yes, ye but, yeah just
what a amazing again innovative but also just in that
way of kind of bringing white people over to what
was happening in black music in a really kind of
cool way where everyone felt.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Involved For fary well talking of cool cave Templary christmas
