On Clairsy’s last day, the team celebrated in style. Celebrity messages poured in,  was that the prime minister on the phone? Clairsy’s wife dropped by, and the huge news was revealed: Russell Clarke is coming back to 96FM Breakfast! Barra signed off with excitement for the Dockers game, and Lisa read a heartfelt (and cheeky) eulogy listing what she’ll miss — and what she won’t. An emotional farewell to one of Perth’s greatest radio talents. Goodbye and good luck, Clairsy.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Okay, So Lisa's got the biggest, the biggest chain you'd

Have you seen it? CLESI yeah, one stage there, I

(19:19):
mean she turned it on the first quarter and then
one stage lease in the last quarter. She got a
cramp in a calf, she could hardly kick. She got
the ball and she somehow got rid of it. Then
the player came back to her and she's hoppling around.
She tackled a girl. She's sill on one leg. She's
a freak. She's from Mount Margaret River. Ella Roberts, remember
that name. She went to Cedar College. Absolute star of

(19:41):
the competition. She's going to be And they've discovered another
girl too, Lou Painter. She kicked three goals, So I
think the Eagles are going to be strong, and I
reckon the Dockers girls will be really strong too. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
Biggest game of the year. They just got to win. Otherwise,
next week's sudden death against the Bulldogs in Melbourne. You know, mate,
they are in so much pain. You know what I mean.
So come on do it for five. If you do
it for Clazy, the crowd will be over fifty zousand. Yeah,
I reckon. I tried to get a couple of freebie
no chance, sorry, Baron none left.

You help people get there a bit more easily.

half an hour. Yeah, it might have had something to
do it.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
I don't do you think they'll win. I think they'll win.
I mean it's very it's very even between these two teams.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
No Lucky Neil, I'm really nervous, and I just you know, nervous.
I'm a freo supporter.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
Yeah, they just got to forget about the dockery stuff.
That just got to be the team we think they
can be and maybe go all the way and they
could go like what a way, I'll be doing it
for five. And I heard you guys. Wow, how was
that with Hayden Young yesterday? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (21:16):
Yeah, and he said he's not playing.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
His rehab was about five.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
Now, yeah, it's not about me. I want to get
back for five.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
That's incredible, amazing attitude that you know, could be the
kind of attitude that actually does get them there.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
That's going through the team. That is something I see
what I would be. I would have run.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
They used to say free. I didn't have that, comrade,
you know, that true camaraderie sort of they and now
they do.

Speaker 4 (21:44):
Yeah, so Young, I wouldn't risk him in this game.
So Corey Weakenbeck, I'll get him next week. But I'll
tell you what, Surely they bounce out. Let's just hope
they bounce out. H I've got some funny audio here.
I had a good laugh at the five His old
coach Ross Lyne. He actually reckons he talked five. He
had a quitting earlier this year. Rememberhen he did his

(22:05):
car against St Kilda right and he reckons he bumped
into him in the car park and he reckons that
he talked him out of quitting. He's going to quit
straight away. So just listen to ROSSI years unbelievable.

Speaker 26 (22:18):
Yeah, he's a great player, love him. I don't think
it's out the box. When we played them last time,
he saw him in the car paker. He says, you
know what happened, I did my calf in the half
time warmup.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
It was really down.

Speaker 26 (22:31):
He's probably thinking about retiring on the spot, I think,
But I was like, see, he's got a lot to offer,
so it'd be great if you've got the fairy tale.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
You know, he's.

Speaker 26 (22:41):
A big part of the fabric of that club and
hopefully enjoys the last bit of his ride.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
Ross always the boss.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
Yeah, you know, he could have won four Brown laws.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
He doesn't have any confidence in.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Yeah, he loves taking on the media. Him and Moldhouse.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
That reporter Barageage was fear in the room.

Speaker 4 (23:04):
That's what he called.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
Your report. Where's reporter Barriage reporter.

Speaker 4 (23:12):
That was a player.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
You know you got to the dark side.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
I love I used to call me. You always called me.
Thirty eight to eight eagles run out of Captain's They
got the new boys in charge. The Tiger's Boys have
been in town for two weeks and they're now the
captain of the club, Liam Baker and Jack Graham, So
big game for them. I wanted to mention, do you
see the Jerryman McGovern thing? At least have you seen that?

(23:35):
What with his kid and the sour so did the
big farewell lap at Optics last week and then his
young son Hudson stole the show with that one one
finger salute to the crowd.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
But it was two.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
It was two. Guv's family and friends and stuff. Was
a bit of a gag between the family and gov.
Didn't see it anyway. Governs went like most of us
would be mortified. The goves on, Hey, let's print this
on a T shirt and sell it for charity. And
that's what's happened. So the bird tea has been released,

(24:09):
not the Ta bird, the bird tea. Only in w
A could you turn a lap of honor into a
merch drop like that? Incredible first lap of honor in
AFL history where someone you're clapping with one hand on
your leg.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
What charity is benefiting from.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
I think he's the McGovern's have got this charity where
they they help people get their driver's license. Indigenous people
get their driver's licenses because it's the first way to
get a job. Apparently that's the biggest, big, biggest barrier
to them getting jobs. I think that's mostly what it does.
But that lap of hon it's the first time you've
ever seen bloke's clapping with one hand and their hand

(24:42):
over these kids eyes. No Christmas presents for you, And
I notice how you read said on social media. Respect.
Respect Young Hudson's following the bar. Okay, I'll nail a
bit of sport just before you finish and then have
a sad farewell. Surfing in Tahiti, there's this guy called

(25:04):
Jack Robinson. He's from w A, He's from Margaret River.
He started surfing when he's three, surf Hawaii when he
was eleven. You know, he's got an incredible rig. He's
got a rig like you and they reckon. He looks
like a cross between Jeremy Allen White and Timothy Charlemaye
lease really so, I reckon?

Speaker 2 (25:24):
That's that requires a Google, Jack Robinson, that's.

Speaker 4 (25:29):
In your space, your Google history on the work computer. Yeah,
but do we need to raise yours? When you leave
my computer search me.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
I just don't check my home one he Laurie.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Hello, he's very good looking, but I don't think he
looks like either of those people.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
Don't. Yeah, well that's what I read in the paper.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
I need a second opinion.

Speaker 4 (25:53):
He blitzed Tahiti. He could be the world champion. And
his wife Juliet You reckon, Oh he's good looking. Yeah,
his wife Julian Muns, she's a Brazilian model and he's
two years.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
What else is going to happen there?

Speaker 4 (26:09):
I did say model? His two year old son jumped
into They jumped into the war. That was beautiful scene.
Just see them on the news snight to celebrate with
him came an hour after another Ozsie Molly Picklam. She's
at world number one. Another Ossie girl. She had a
sick victory, she said in near perfect display. Sick. But
the young Ossie that's just well, America has fallen in

(26:30):
love with him. Really, he's a punter, so he's a
former AFL player. He's played footy in Victoria. He went
to you know, obviously like they do to America to
do kicking. He joined Nebraska. He's a college footballer. And
then he did his first ever interview. He's only nineteen,
Archie Wilson his first little interview there with the media
and they're all turned out in the big hall. And

(26:52):
when someone mentioned his mum and his dad and did
he miss him and he was being homesick, and this
is what happened. Yeah, I love I love.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
It a lot.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (27:02):
I got two little brothers and a moment dad. Yeah,
that's the tough part about being hit.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
I love them a lot and I missed them.

Speaker 10 (27:10):
But it's I mean, they know this is what's best
for me, and it's I can still talk to them
plenty of the phone. And they're coming here to see
the first first few games.

Speaker 8 (27:18):
So I'm looking forward to that.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
Thanks guys, great man your.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
I want to see some emotion like that from New Clary. Hey, listen,
can I can I do the divorce vows? Is that okay?
Would you mind?

Speaker 3 (27:35):
Lisak?

Speaker 4 (27:36):
Here we go the divorce vows. We are gathered here
today to witness the dissolution if that's the word of
a sacred union the five year Breakfast Show marriage of
Dean Claire's and Lisa. Sure, Lisa, do you promise to
never forget the way Clarsy always ate in the studio
which you hated, hit the wrong button at least once

(27:57):
a week and told the same story about his time
in Meridin and Bunber at least forty seven times. And Claersey,
do you promise to never forget the way Lisa rolled
her eyes at your jokes, corrected you and stole your
best punchlines.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
Listening?

Speaker 4 (28:17):
And do you both solemnly swear from this day forward
to speak only fondly of each other and to never
forget each other's birthdays and anniversaries to death to us
part Yeah, absolutely this time round, no doubt. Okay. Then,
by the powers vested in me by a ninety six
FM and a questionable station budget, I now pronounce you unhitched, unhitched,

(28:42):
unmuted and miked and free to see other co hosts.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
Worry.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
We can now fade to the song from the eighties
Hit the Road, Jack.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
Very much.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
I love you, You're one of the best bo I.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
Think we did the cheapest.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
I will see you as per normal on Monday, but
Barre's barrel will feel a.

Speaker 4 (29:07):
Chair, but it's not not the chair I missed out.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
You just found out already. Tell me sorry, my hands.
Thanks to see it the footy. Would you like to introduce, Okay,
ladies and gentlemen, final day on ninety six a pair,
my darling wife, Laurri Clear is welcome.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Hello Laurie, Hello, Hello Laurie. Thank you for putting him
in always such a good mood when he when he
said him in the morning, because I have to deal
with the fallout.

Speaker 5 (29:38):
Well, that's because he has a full lunch box with
him at all time.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
I know, I know, No, I don't need much. What
are you talking about?

Speaker 2 (29:46):
So how are you feeling about it?

Speaker 5 (29:47):
All mixed feelings. I'm actually nervous. I know he's really
excited and I am too, but I'm nervous. I'm nervous
with how he's going to feel next week not getting up. Yeah,
I'm pretty excited about it. Yeah, but I do have
a little bit of nerve nervousness.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
Because you must be sick to death of getting work.

Speaker 9 (30:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (30:11):
Absolutely, well, as you're driving in today, I said to him,
surely we're going to the airport.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
Does he does?

Speaker 2 (30:18):
He do the right thing and put his clothes in
another room and get ready, and doesn't you know everything
that hang on.

Speaker 5 (30:25):
He still blow dries his hair. He blow dries his
hair every morning.

Speaker 4 (30:29):
Oh yes, and I don't blow dry my hand.

Speaker 5 (30:33):
Part of it's part of his routine. He likes to
feel well groomed on his way to work.

Speaker 14 (30:39):
Dry your hair.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
Does someone tried twelve twelve years of breakfast? You might
as well use coffee, go to another bathroom.

Speaker 5 (30:48):
He does, go to the other bathroom.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
Yeah, and I feed the cat and all that kind
of stuff. Yeah, it is. It's a real day. It's
also loss. He probably will call you, Laurie. It is
strange because a lot of people are a bit shocked.
You've got the sixty and he's full in the pin.
But it's about not I didn't want to keep going
and getting up that early for any longer and pulling
it later. So it's not it's a sad day, but
it's also got a lot of excitement to touch it absolutely,

(31:11):
which we've been talking about for a couple of years.

Speaker 16 (31:14):
Now.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
The way you two met not entirely conventional. Yeah, and
certainly well and truly orchestrated by you.

Speaker 5 (31:21):
I'll let you tell this day, do we tell?

Speaker 23 (31:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (31:24):
Yeah, I mean you know the story. Well, there's a
lot of people if you haven't heard the story. I
met Laurie through a radio contest when I was working
at Mixed and it was a competition called date my
dad were a young fellow rode in and said, my
dad's single blah blah blah. So we've got a whole
lot of women to send in photos and bios and
put them online, put them online, And one of the
ninety five people who put it on was one Lori

(31:45):
Cleare and may I.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
Add I was forced to yeah, exactly, it wasn't really much.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
This guy was meant to pick three women or something
for a date.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
And you never saw your photo, that photo, so I smell.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
On the floor funny that I saw that, and I went,
I have to meet this person in my it's not
your personal Yeah I know it wasn't. But I white
handed this guy and the producer would'tive it give me
her detail. So I got my mate Dan, who was
working there, Our mate Dan, He gave me the details
and I sent Lauri a message, and I said, this
guy doesn't pick you, he's got rocks in his head.

(32:19):
And I think you thought I'd send that to every
of everyone's.

Speaker 5 (32:21):
I thought, all these other ninety five women have got
exactly the same message.

Speaker 4 (32:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
So at the function he didn't pick Lauri right as
his girlfriend fire out of circular. Yeah. And so we
got married at Mosmon's a few years later.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
Yeah, and the rest is history is history.

Speaker 3 (32:38):
Absolutely. Yeah. So it was a good, good white anting.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
I didn't best thing that ever happened to you.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
I mean Clary and I go way back. We've known
each other since we were about twenty, so I've seen
him through a few you know, I bet your hand
he like I said, you want, you want to be
with someone whose face lights up the way closes does
when he talks about you. And I've benefited from that because,
as I said, you've sent him into me each morning

(33:06):
a happy man. So we thank you for that, Laurie.
We thank you for sharing him with us all these years.

Speaker 5 (33:12):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
Yeah, sorry, love that today wasn't about the airport. Plenty
of time I have been told Lowe has said, don't
find any work, MC work or anything for a couple
of weeks like actually stop for a change.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
So yeah, people, and what are you doing tonight?

Speaker 3 (33:28):
Well that was set up and I love working with
the doctors, you know what I'm like, wouldn't miss the food?

Speaker 10 (33:32):
All right?

Speaker 3 (33:33):
Thank you done?

Speaker 2 (33:34):
Well, try holding it in through this.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
What are you doing?

Speaker 8 (33:38):
This?

Speaker 2 (33:38):
This has been prepared for you by Newsbuss Mikayla Carr.
It is a living eulogy for Dean Claire's hit The
Music Please. Dean Anthony Claires was born on the twenty
fifth of June nineteen sixty five to reg and Margaret.
He is a brother to two sisters and grew up

(34:00):
on the and a brother and grew up on the
mean streets of karen Up and Hammersley. While attending Greenwood
High School, Clersey also worked in the sports department at
Big W Peddling Balls. But radio was his road to
fame and fortune. Well maybe it wasn't for the money.
Ninety six a m was his dream and original boss
Gary Roberts told Claes to go bush and lucky for us,

(34:22):
he didn't tell him to get a haircut and a
real job. Then came on air gigs in Meridon Bumbree
Canberra and Adelaide before he headed back to Perth and
the radio station that never really took flight, the Eagle.
One thing, one good thing came out of that though,
just quietly our friendship stints at PMFM and mix came
and went. And it was at the latter one where
he met Laurie, the love of his life, in that

(34:44):
competition we just heard all about called Date my Dad
in twenty ten. They married in twenty twelve and now
have a blended family of five kids, one grand baby
and Angel the demon cat. So who is the man
behind the legend who many years later, finally made it
through the doors of nineteen six of ninety six AFM

(35:04):
sans the gravity define Mullet. Claresy is known for seeing
the good in all situations and most people. He's very
calm and doesn't get angry very often, but when he does,
Lurry calls him grumple stilt skin. We don't need Lurry
to tell us. He eats all day, all day. He
isn't a very good cook, and when he and Lurry
eat out, he's and eats his chips first. Kind of guy.

(35:27):
Claesy isn't much of a drinker. If he does. It's
a very occasional scotchron Coke, but he might just enjoy
a few celebratory bubbles today. Claesy has the most incredible
recall for information, usually about music, movies, sport. He's very
handy at a quiz night. Claresy is a giver and
has had a lung association with the Cancer Council and
Breast Cancer Care w Away Off the air. He loves

(35:48):
listening to podcasts, usually about music, finance, or sport. His
favorite artists include Stilly, Dan Kiss and ACDC. He listens
to them loud. He also plays the drums terribly in
his life. After breakfast radio, He's looking forward to staying
up past eight thirty supporting the Dockers all the way
to the Grand I'll never mind I'm working at home.

(36:09):
On Lurie's long list of things for him to do,
Clazy is also keen to get fit, enjoy some gigs
during the week, and bash on those drums as much
as possible. Laurie says Clazy's motto for life is mine
every day for joy, and she says the only thing
retiring is their bedrooms alarm clock.

Speaker 3 (36:27):
Ah as sweet as there's.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
More cli more podcasts soon.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
Well it's time, it is time.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
It is time to find out who is going to
fill the cheer. I will allow you to introduce yourself.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
I see you haven't got the door fixed since the
last time I was here. Hi, guys, you remember me
glood Rusty?

Speaker 4 (36:55):
Did I mind?

Speaker 25 (36:55):
I remember the old filling guy for the last five
years whenever you decided to head off overseas.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
Yeah, right, week or so of that.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
Speculators are going to be very yellow. Techer.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
You just sent a message moments ago was welcome back
to be back.

Speaker 10 (37:15):
Have you.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
I love what you've done with the place. Oh yeah,
we'll decorated. I notice I've got I've got a barristo.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
Now, I see it's just me because Jackie spent all
the budget on there.

Speaker 4 (37:28):
Yeah, that's good, got it.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
We have known each other since the late eighties when
we worked at the Eagle, all three of us, and
I know, so it's been over thirty five years. And
I noticed yesterday you had another ex eaglet on Bernie Brittains.
It's and he hasn't changed what's old has changed.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
We also had Captain Paul Sheppard. Yes, but yes, Bernie
was with us at the Eagle.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
Yes, way way back in the eighties. So we have
all known each other for very, very long.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
For anyone who doesn't know us, you were a number
one afternoon's announcer up until not that long ago, and
you were going some kind of foolish.

Speaker 25 (38:15):
All the company restructure and it's it's it's very common
media and mining and you name it, everybody's everybody goes through.

Speaker 3 (38:25):
Though I had a buck for everyone who asked me,
and I said the same thing. Company company restructure in March. Look,
it was unfortunately, it was disappointing, but it's good to
be back.

Speaker 25 (38:40):
They said, you know, if the opportunity arises, and then
Clarsy made that opportunity.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
Was it an easy decision or was there? But if
you wanted to say no, no.

Speaker 25 (38:50):
Not at all good And I say that absolutely truthfully, truthfully,
I really you know, for that five and a half
going on six years that I was here, I really
loved working at ninety six them, So I'm more than
happy to come back.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
And when Clary was off on jury, Judy or you know,
generally gallivant about you, you happily slipped into Philish shoes, including.

Speaker 25 (39:16):
One night when I got to bed at midnight, and
then the producer called me at three and said, oh
well sorry mate for me, and I made it in
time for me.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
It's amazing because, as you said, we've all known each
other since we were just children, and so it feels
like one brother is going but another brother is coming
to it.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
And it is the saving which the annoying. You're both
annoyed by the way, good morning again to take her
and to Anna who've just gone, Oh my god, it's rusty.

Speaker 23 (39:48):
That.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
I mean, it wasn't my call er anything but that
long four hour meeting catch up down the beach. I
just the kids off at schools, like we just.

Speaker 4 (39:58):
Catch up for a coffee.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
I just have a chat.

Speaker 25 (40:00):
Anyway, we're having coffee and then I've actually got to
go and pick him up again.

Speaker 3 (40:05):
Very long two mates catching up. But I was fishing
to see what it was, whether Russell was keen. But
obviously it wasn't my choice.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
And a lot's happened since there is there is that
though you've been dropping the kids off, probably had a
long list that someone would have had for you to
get done. So how is she okay? We might give
her a call someone good morning?

Speaker 3 (40:24):
How are you doing.

Speaker 27 (40:26):
Hello, I'm good? Thank you? Hell?

Speaker 13 (40:27):
Are you guys good now?

Speaker 2 (40:30):
Thrilled to bits? Were taking him back off your hats?

Speaker 4 (40:32):
Sorry?

Speaker 3 (40:33):
Are you you still got things to do?

Speaker 1 (40:36):
Oh?

Speaker 27 (40:37):
Look, it's been really nice having Russ at home. He's
done lots of things around the house.

Speaker 19 (40:43):
It's nice and mean.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
It's not everything's finished though.

Speaker 10 (40:47):
No.

Speaker 27 (40:49):
The kids have loved having him home, picking them up
and dropping them off from school. So it's been really
lovely having him at home. But very much time for
him to go back to work.

Speaker 3 (41:01):
Yes, said in a very strong way.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
Will you still be single word?

Speaker 25 (41:06):
Well, you still be saying that in a week after
dropping the kids off and trying to get them out
the door every morning for school on time?

Speaker 27 (41:13):
That's yeah, it's mildly traumatizing.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (41:20):
Will you be okay with the alarm going off every morning?
Is he we talked about this earlier? Does he put
his his stuff in another room and gets ready away
from he does the polite thing?

Speaker 27 (41:31):
Rush's shuck a squirrel in the morning?

Speaker 6 (41:35):
Squirrel?

Speaker 27 (41:40):
I hardly have appear him when.

Speaker 25 (41:41):
He's waking up, and I don't blow dry point and
if I want to do that and just wind the
window down on the way in.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
One o one.

Speaker 3 (41:53):
His hair at four in the morning. I mean, I
wish I needed to, but I don't.

Speaker 4 (41:59):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (42:01):
For those who haven't seen Russ.

Speaker 2 (42:05):
Having back.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
Thanks Mom, we really appreciate it. What a great thing
that three friends can do this today.

Speaker 27 (42:11):
And good not crazy.

Speaker 3 (42:13):
Thanks darning really appreciate it. And I'll get the kids
this afternoon after school.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
You'll get some milk on the way home, tox with
everything else.

Speaker 3 (42:25):
Than well, you've been kicked out of the house, mate Gonski,
I have welcome back, mate. Thank you very much. Guys,
I'm really I'm stoked to be back at ninety six, yes.

Speaker 2 (42:40):
Not five to six earlier than that.

Speaker 3 (42:42):
He's getting up at three thirty. Still, yeah, yeah right away.
See unlike and again, unlike him, I have my breakfast
before I come. I don't have it.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
During and during and during it's.

Speaker 3 (42:58):
Only breakfast three, four and five. I haven't one. I
have one. You have one break I have one before
I get here.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
We're quickly approaching the hint. I get my head around. Look, okay,
I've got something for you. These are the top five
things I will and the top five things I won't
miss about Claerzy all right. Number five. I will miss
the endearing way he uses my full name, Lisa Vaccine.

(43:31):
I protest, but dip down.

Speaker 10 (43:33):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (43:34):
I will not miss his annoying little brother Ponchond for
winding me up by repeating the last couple of words
of my sentences. Yes, number four. I will miss telling
him my Kate Bush fun fact. Every single time we've
ever played actually off got audio. Every single time you've

(43:54):
ever played Running up that Hill that Kate recorded her
dog's body and Clyde barking to get this effect.

Speaker 3 (44:00):
There you go one.

Speaker 14 (44:03):
Again.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
She recorded her dogs. That's Bonnie and Clyde. Her way maranas,
and that's how she got that effect. She put it
through a machine in her studio because she's way ahead
of her time. I will not miss him putting his
hands over his ears and rocking back and forth, mumbling,
you've told me there's a million times. Stop telling me
this story. Yep, number three story, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (44:25):
That was.

Speaker 2 (44:29):
Number three. I will not miss him eating bananas and
putting the skin in the communal bit at our desk
because of my strange aversion to banana skins. I will
miss him drawing a face on the top bit of
banana skin and leaving it on my computer keyboard, which
I got to tell you the other joint where we
work together he did every day for twelve days straight.

Speaker 3 (44:48):
Long long he left a little.

Speaker 2 (44:49):
Banana face to welcome me into the student number two.
I will miss him playing practical jokes on our boss Greg,
the turning off of the lights while he's in the toilet,
and the hiding fun sized bags of chips throughout his office.
I will not miss him hiding things in my handbag
to be found unexpectedly later in the day. He once
even filled my home letterbox with crap from the office.

(45:13):
I kid you not. And then because I didn't check
my letterbox for a week, waited didn't waiting to see
what I would say. And the number one thing I
will not miss about Clarzy his non stop consumption of
food in the studio, especially the smell of hot buttered

(45:34):
toast at six am when I'm trying to follow the
rules of intermission fasting. But the number one thing I
will miss is him sharing the spoils with me on
free calorie Fridays, especially when it's Lorri's lemonderes or cake
or homemade short.

Speaker 3 (45:48):
Brand another bite of size which we had today. Let
so magnificently and magnificent. That is beautiful. I think we're
done as a couple, and that's hurts me to say that.
Lets a really weird week, hasn't it. Don't look at you,
look stop, don't look at me? Sounds like a David
Lynch movie, doesn't it?

Speaker 2 (46:10):
One more time?

Speaker 3 (46:11):
Bring me back by? Lisa, have a particular set of skills.
That's pretty bad. You're right, Oh no, yesterday. I feel
very lucky and very privileged right to sit here today
after forty two and a half years of radio, and
there's a lot of things I'd like to say. I
won't fit it all in, but I've got I'm very
very thankful. One thing that's not happening is I'm not

(46:32):
actually retiring from I will still work. I've got bills
to pay and all the rest of it, like everybody.
But I'm just don't want to get up at three
thirty anymore, which, Lisa, you're a champion.

Speaker 2 (46:39):
At doing Blame you.

Speaker 3 (46:41):
Yeah, And I got to sixty and I went, you
know what, instead of like keep pushing and pushing and
pushing when I feel like it's the right thing to
doing a lot of plannings going into it. You calling
me sensible man, and keptain sensible. So I went, why
not do this and have a lifestyle change at sixty
and Laura and I are going to do other things
and I'll still work and that as well. She has
told me not to work, as I've said about this
morning for a couple of weeks. But I'm working for

(47:03):
which I love working for the Dockers and thing at
the footage. But I do want to thank a lot
of people, and I'll start with family, and Laurie's standing
out there, so I'm just gonna make me cry. Laurie's
standing out there. So Lorry and my kids and her
girls have heard me winge about getting up early for
twelve years this time because I've done break here two
or three times in my career. But yeah, thanks to
my family and all of that. Love to the ninety

(47:25):
six f M team and not every wrong I've worked
with in the past, but I must have been. There
was a time when I left Mix and they gave
me a lovely sendoff, and I listened and was watching
what was going on at ninety six, and I could
see my old friends Lisa and Smiley and Russell working
over here and I've got a bit of work envy.
And then Gary Roberts, the Great Gary Robarts called me
and said, do you want to come over? Fred's retiring

(47:45):
Fred Bodica, the Great Fred Bodica, And I went, what
do you reckon? So I took the opportunity to come back.
So that's my Farsi list of comebacks. It was one
and it was great joy for me, as you know,
being the fifteen and a half year old kid who
always wanted to work at ninety six. To come and
work at ninety six was very very cool to come
and do that. And I said to Gary, I'll come
for a couple of years and we'll see what happens.
And I've lasted four and a half and you know why,

(48:06):
because there doesn't get anything better than living out a dream.
But also the chemistry that you and I have, that banter.
I'm really going to miss that one thing I will do.
Allison from Bedford Dale just said, Clazy, you're going to
grow your bullet back. No, I won't be doing that.
So to come and work with mates, and that's how
we did that, in that secretive way for me to
come back here and the day I walked in and

(48:26):
there was a whole lot of staff here and that
surprise in twenty twenty one. So to the team at
ninety six, I thank you and our inner circle, our
close team of Daniel is the content director who brought
me back, and of course to yourself and Susie and
Greg and now Liz joining us. SU's a real talent
and I can't underestimate how incredible Susie's efforts in this
week have been just so amazing to get those names

(48:49):
and those people up, and that takes a lot, a
hell of a lot of work, and she is an incredible,
incredible workhorse. And thanks for that, SUSI appreciate that. Like
I said, I'm still going to be working. You see
me around town and doing stuff. I might even Gregg's
even said I might even get some fillion shifts here
at ninety six, So you never know. You might hear
this guy pop up, so you can say if you're like,
he's making another comeback. But I just I just love radio,

(49:11):
so I don't say that will be the last thing.
I'm not going to another full time job, but to
the listeners, just incredible the support I get around town.
How lucky am I to get positive interaction with people
everywhere I go. I'm very lucky like that. And the
worst thing anyone said about me even this week was oh,
he's making it. He made have come back before. I mean,
you're pretty lucky. If you're not getting slagged in the public,

(49:33):
it's pretty good. I do want to say one other thing,
because I care about radio people and there's something I
want to say hello to, and let's just call him
En and I will say n I'm thinking of you, mate,
and sending love and the people in radio on who
I'm talking about, And I do want to say thanks
again for all of the support. And I'm so stoked
that Russell Clark is joining Lisa Maxine Shaw next week

(49:54):
from Monday morning at six o'clock. And there's so much
love coming through that fills my heart joy. Speaking of joy,
all I want to say is thank you once again.
I'm very privileged to have lived out the radio dream.
But it's also a life and a work dream. And
keep minding every joy because there's enough crap in the
world out there, so keep searching for the joy and
plan joy and then chase it. And then enjoy it

(50:16):
in the moment and have yourself a great day. May
I say something, Yeah, of course, of course you may.

Speaker 2 (50:22):
You are one of a handful of people that I
have known for a long time. We joke about having
a relationship like siblings, but we really do. We go
back to have said. You know, we always say we
were kids when we were twenty one and twenty three
or whatever it is, because you're older than me and
you always will be. But I truly, truly love you,
and I always knew that one day we would do this,

(50:46):
and it's been an absolute pleasure. And like I said,
Laurie is a beautiful person and she's made you so happy,
and it's only right that you spend this time early
in the morning and all day long doing her long
list of chores. But she has for you.

Speaker 3 (51:04):
I haven't seen it yet, And I will miss you. Yeah,
I miss you too, But good luck, Saver and look
after her

Speaker 1 (51:11):
Crazy and Lisa
