Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ozzie Gold Hunters, which is on Foxtel's Discovery Channel, is
gearing up for casting for season ten. Season ten. Jason
Gilberti is the series producer and he's joining us this morning.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Hello Jason Money nice, good morning, Thanks for having me
on the show.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Thank you for joining us. Now you're gearing up for
season ten. What are you looking for in people to
be on the show?

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Look, the story tells, you know, the stories and people
who are out there doing it for real, the unsung
heroes who are risking it all, you know, find that
life changing fortunate gold. So anybody who's out there doing
it for real who has an interesting story to tell them,
we'd like.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
To hear from you that from the individuals or teams, Jayson,
Is that how it works?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Look, we have a million dollar teams with huge amounts
of equipment, with the mom and pop size team, and
then we also have your aspirational you know, people with
the metal detector just out there doing it. So anybody
who's out there who has you know, a lust for gold,
who wants to be on the show, give us a call.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Yeah, yeah, that is exactly what's out there. I mean,
we were just talking about a friend of ours who
would go and do it on his holiday with his
brothers a couple of times, and they were hoping to,
you know, have that one big hit at big moment.
And then there's people for whom it is their life.
It's there, it's their living. I see gold Hunters or
gold Hunters are shown in one hundred and twenty five
countries around the world, with global viewership of forty million people.

(01:21):
Do you think what makes it so popular is that
we love to see people get that one big thing
that sets them up, you know, the possibility of it's excited.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Ye a quarter of a million nine nuggets come out
of down yeah, very for four billion years, you know.
But it's really about the human stories. It's about you know,
people who are out there risking at all to try
and change their life.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Man, that love for gold goes on, doesn't it jus
because people apart from the beauty of the damn stuff,
people have great safety and comfort in gold itself. And
when people have financial markets are and the florry people.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Go, oh, put it in gold.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Absolutely. I mean the gold places that are all the
time high and certainly I don't know primortal when you
see I've had a pleasure of seeing big nuggets come
on the ground on the show. And when you see that,
it has a real effect on you. Yeah, it kind
of takes over.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Well, you know it's coming out of the ground. It's
like anyone's anyone's game. Really, it's there to be taken.
The show puts cow Goooley on the world stage. That's
a bit of a supporting cast member in itself.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Caw Gooley, that's right.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
You know, we have a team in Final queens Land.
We've got teams in Victoria's Golden Kongleth, the Cross, October,
everywhere in between. But you know w A is known
for its gold and we have players w A.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Yeah, we mentioned middle to take it.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
There is there anyone down at a creek somewhere panning
for gold anymore?

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Does that ever happen?

Speaker 2 (02:43):
It's loaming is very rare. You know, we've moved on.
We've got my means of second gold.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
So you be there for a while.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Cla the old school.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah, you're welcome to give it a shot.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
No, I'm going to Jason.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
You're mentioning, you know, people sking a lot for the show.
What are the challenges of filming a show like this.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
What are the dangers You know Australia has dangerous wild life.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Oh, we've got a few.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, it's just the remoteness of it all. You know,
these places where you're going for virgin ground are pretty
fars long ago. There are quite a few challenges.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
And it's hot, bloody hot, it's very hot.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
And Jayson also, we know the cost of everything's going up,
and that includes fuel and all that, so that's going
to add to production costs in this dynage.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yeah, you know, the risk versus rewards has never been
greater with the gold price being so high, but the
fuel prices and everything else, so it's quite a fine
line if you want to make a profit at hunting
for gold.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
I assume that everyone gets to keep what they find.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Oh yeah, we follow the real life adventures of these
women out there doing their things. So they just do
their gold thing. We follow them with the cameras and
we come back with interesting stories. So we might film
them for three hundred hours and that's television.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Yeah, what is the biggest nugget you've You've known anyone
to find the.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Biggest nuggets that I've seen personally on the show that have.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Been found on the show.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Oh, I think we've had a two hundred nugget at
one point, so yeah, pretty big stuff.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
What's that in dollars?

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Half a dollar.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Is terrible nugget as big as your head? Great, gosh
and real? Yeah, well exactly.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
They're still out there.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
