Speaker 1 (00:22):
Mate, how a polite?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Is that? Delightful? I haven't been called that since last
time I was in court.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Your honor, So it's been three years since we saw you.
Tell us about the new tour.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Well, it takes three years to do a circuit these days,
with the way we get around, we do about one
hundred and twenty concerts a year, right, and I'm finally
back on home turf Fel February. As they all would
say in the enjoy I'm so excited. Yeah, popping up
for me. It's well, how cool is that I can
go and do a show and then drive home and
(00:57):
sleep in my own bed.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Yeah, that's beautiful. For forty years of touring and performing.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
You're sort of looking at is it.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
No, No, I was thinking, can you believe it? It's
gone by and you remember every bit of it.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
And I'm grateful for every minute as well, because I
never expected it. I thought what I was doing was fine.
I was just writing songs for and about my mates
and Caldilly, Mike the Master, Farther and people. And so
my mate said, you you should record some of that
stuff and if you do, we'll buy it. This is
back in car sette days. Yes, so yeah, So I
(01:35):
went ahead and I did. I recorded, and they kept
their promise as well.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
They they brought it by and everyone else. Now your daughter,
the lovely Jenditalia is in supporting you, I believe. On
the tour she is.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Jenny from Australia.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
That was a bit out a lot, don't make it.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
It was funny because it was both your filthy minds
who went there. Got a nice ring. I've got to say.
Do you look out into the crowd and see familiar
faces and then these younger generations laughing at what you're doing?
Very much? So yeah. For something that I thought was
strictly for the Blakes, I was surprised when they started
bringing their wives along and now the kids the kids, grandkids.
(02:29):
You get three generations as the same family. You get
a lot of these days as well. Is the bride's
no doubt? Ah oh yes, a lot. And they sing
along as videos the foota Club. Yeah, there are for
a bit of cheeky, an't they they are? And why not?
That what it's all about.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
So you're visiting a lot of country towns, including Calgoley.
Of course it must have a special place playing in
Calgooley because a lot of the songs are about them.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Yeah, certainly initially and even nowadays. If I'm writing a song,
I think that reminds me of such and such, Bob
the Butcher or whatever. Yeah. Yeah, there's always that Calgarly reference.
And there's always a Calgarly connection every show I've done, ever,
(03:16):
somebody said my uncle from Cowgilly, or my my dad
was there during the Second World War.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
You know, my grandfather grew up in Calgary. So there's
today what was the maiden name smith, James Smith. Yeah,
there was a few of them. It's funny because my grandmother,
she's mister Blood Wilson.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
It's funny because my uncle went to a lock shop
there once. That's interesting.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Usually now I take it because you're sitting there with
a guitar in your lap, that you're going to play
a song for us.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
I can do that.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
I love you too.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
I can do that. What about I'm a sort of
blood that would like to think that if I could
go back in time Ben Joe and Henry and even
then Killy it over be good nice of mine because
they're piss pots, poets and outlaws, and I can relate
to that. And I can relate to their attitude too.
(04:21):
In a word, deally gap and that means d I
l L I G if dealing gap? Do you want
to sing it with you? Do I like I give
a DELI gap? Am I being direct enough? Deally gap?
(04:43):
Just another way of sign I couldn't give a fucking
rat's house mate? Do I look like I give a
DEALI gap? Your turn? Do I like I give her?
Tilli gat? What a team? It's ninety f M quiet.
I got to say, Lisa, you mind the word.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
It never loses its appointments. Just beautiful piece of work.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Take you again when you talk about the people that
come to my shows, the amount of people now that
have got a tattoo somewhere on the really ship lads.
That's cool, and I do need to thank you. I've
had to for a long time. Forgive me if I've
got this wrong, but I'm pretty sure you gave me
the gift that keeps on giving. That was a penis
and larger many years ago.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
As herpes.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
It was a Kevin Bloody Wilson magnifying glass. Thanks.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Yes, my drawer, Yes, one another one, yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Think you very much. Cla clas. He's used it the
wrong way. It used it in the direct sunlight. Put
the hell out of it. I know he's gotta You
