Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mark Watts has a podcast called Picture Discuss. It's out
on iHeart or wherever you get your podcasts. Right now
and right now with us is Mark Watt's Morning.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Good One and listen lovely to talk to you now.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Merek take us through the concept of Picture Discuss It.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Look clearly, it's in the title, it's literally just a picture.
And then we discuss it is that it is the dumbest,
easiest concept and I can't even believe that anybody would
back it in and go, yeah, let's make that because
it's literally so simple it's terrifying. It's like at the
premises that you, myself and two other comedians, we have

(00:38):
a look at a picture that we're found on the internet,
and then for about ten minutes we discuss it and
we try to figure out what is going on in
that picture, that one picture that you can see the
picture when you download the podcast. You can see it
on the face page of the podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
So everything.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Yeah. Absolutely, So it's the first time that somebody's kind
of made accessible for you to kind of play along
like that. So you look at the visual depiction on
your phone or on your device and you're listening and
we talk about it, and it's it's pretty funny and
I don't know, like I said, a very basic concept
from a very basic man.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Well, is.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
It a famous in any way picture or does it
have any landmarks in it that might indicate what could
be going on?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Or is it a completely random picture?

Speaker 3 (01:26):
It's so random. One of the pictures that we discussed,
for example, is a group of nude cyclists. Oh yeah,
mood cyclists.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Why would you think that that's a good idea?

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Exactly exactly exactly, Like I mean, you want to be
very careful about the spokes.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
But yeah, yeah, I think that was the least of you, exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
And that's that's and that's how you have a discussion
for like ten minutes about like all of the things
that are going on in that picture. When you've got
like a half a dozen people mood on bicycles riding
through a street, you're going to figure out where in
the world that is, why would they, yes, how many
creams that applied to themselves in advance of doing this,

(02:07):
and exactly how many emergency vehicles will be required? And
at the end of it, we just we just kind
of try to find out or try to discuss why
something would do that, and then at the end of
it we reveal.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
It, ood, are you accepting photo submissions from listeners? Obviously
not body parts? Of course, look I would.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
I'll tell you, I'll tak those from people listening. Absolutely.
If you think you've got a cracker and you want
to explained, great, But yeah, I don't think that's an
too intimate family photos, family photos, let's leave those out.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah, exactly exactly.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
So who are the who are some of the comedians
that are popping up to discuss I've got.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
All sorts of people are involved. Like literally, it's a
bit of a who's who of Australian comedy. I've caught
on lots of my mates. It's been a part of it.
Tom Ballard is very very funny. I've got Gy Montgomery
from New Zealand who's a bit of an open coming star.
Jim Tierne. There's like, honestly, there's so many. Brett blake
who's a fantastic West Australian comedian, Blakey, he's actually I

(03:15):
think he's the one. It might have been involved in
the new bicycle incident nothing to do with the podcast
is I think generally I think he was involved in
an ad bicycle incident. So yeah, it's an assortment each time.
Each episode. There's two episodes a week. One's dropping today
and they're like ten minutes long and you could just
listen to them short, sharp and sweet and lots of fun.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
I've just watched Tom Ballard in Deadlock. What an absolute
traat he was in that show.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Now we know that.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Speaking of treats and shows, we know you love Says
Australia so much that you went on it. But have
you ever reach the show alone? Would you do that one?

Speaker 3 (03:53):
I love it to the show, I love it. Yeah,
it's so good. How like the two in My wife
said to me, and so she goes, there's a new
series of the Loan. Now I'm really awesome.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Yeah, check your snaes, check your snares.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
My greatest like having done Essays Australia, My greatest hope
now is that I go on a show where a
bear can eat me.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Just the threat of us better, isn't it?

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Yeah? Absolutely angry angry soldiers or originally bad just just
member you so I mean I'll take both.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Thanks. Yessay's Australia. You've got quite emotional for a few
of you didn't it because they're really working hard and
getting you lack of sleep and all that physicality.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah, yeah, look, I mean they do.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
They deliberately try to tune into people's personal emotions and
the feelings. But unfortunately I don't have any. I'm a
very very shallow human being. So as a result, when
they tried to tap deeply into me, they went, this
is a very shallow pond, and I went, well, there
you go.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Is open, not shallow.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
They're going, we'll go deep, deep into your personality, and
it's not.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Deep small pond.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
I don't even have an emotions.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Eric is not a common first name. Have you ever
met another Merrick?

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah, I've actually only met a couple in my entire life.
I think I've met two other merics, right, But I
do know that there has been at least two children
who have been named after me, which makes me feel
really good that neither of them. Well, I think I'd
be worried if they were mine.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Actually, yeah, that's amazing.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
All right, Well, Picture Discuss is out now. What's on
our heart and wherever you get your podcast?

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Interesting concept. I'm going to check it out today. Mark.
Thank you very much.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Thanks for jo pleasure, but see you one alone.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
Absolutely to win alone. Thanks bad
