Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's back on Sunday Night on nine for its twenty
first season. This will feature the one thousandth episode. Actually
during this season, Scot cavs with us morning guys.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Always a pleasure.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Now you I used to live in Victoria, I used
to live in Melbourne, and you are in one of
my absolute favorite places in the world this year. You're
in Dalsford.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
Dalsford, Victoria our and twenty out of town, the food capital.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
It's got hatted restaurants. It's unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
It was that gallery restaurant place that used to that
first attracted me to Dales and the head springs just
down the road.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Springs and you know, people wouldn't know this is fed
in and you go down to the creek and there's
hand pumps down on the creek and when you pump
it mineral sparkling. Mineral water comes out of the ground sparkling.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
It's got bubbles in it.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Hello, it's very heavily magnesium in it. But you've got
to let that settle, apparently, but you can him in
the lake which is magnesium for your bones.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
It's an amazing place. So tell us what's what for
the first is this the first time that we've had
two sort of you know representations from w A.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
You have got two teams from w A, which is
fantastic and they're great Britain Taz and Hand and Can
well Hannah and Candae. But they like to go by
Hand and Can. They're getting themselves a television hand.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
Yeah, of course, and it's better on socials.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Yeah right, well they go, well, there's a roller coaster,
let me say, you know, there's a bit of drama
and ups and downs by all means.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
But Britten Tazz are from Newman Oh okay, in the desert.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
They're both coppers, husband and wife. Oh okay, forty five
degrees in the summer with a uniform on.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Yeah, yeah, that's a fair way north.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Four in the shade.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Anyway, they do a great job and it's it's a
different story this year because we've got every single house
is from built from scratch and they're exactly the same.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Footprint, right, so you've never done from before.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Well now we built the slab in the frame and
for them, but they're all identical. So it's a big
thing for them to come up with a great design,
wow factor execution things like that. That's right, to get
them to stand out from the bunch, and then they
start thinking about secret weapons to try and win win
the block.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
Oh okay, well mate, I knew you were back because
I saw you on my Telly driving a very big
truck the other night.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Semi.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Well, you know what, there's a bit of controversy with
me driving the truck, which I want to point out
to those folks that sent all the messages in that
that truck was in a studio with with you know,
six blokes shaking it on the bull bar.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
We never left.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Anyway, and they all blew up because I didn't have
a seat belt on and there was all those And
I replied by saying, the bloody dog was driving, and
you're worried about me. Have a was a kelpie driving
and prime mover? Oh dear me anyway, some.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
People, but the dog is a good driver.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Yes, of course, she's on our l's she's going.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Well, I said, it's the twenty first season. You're still
the passion is unwavering.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yeah, I look, I really enjoyed it different. It's different.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
We go to a different town, we go to a
different spot, we have different houses. I love the building process,
I love the construction arm of the show.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
And then we're also a.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Design show which gives everybody great ideas, and of course
a real estate show, so it's got a great feel
of it. And I also being a family man, I
love trying to create a show that is family orientated.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Pardon me that we mum and dad and three kids
can watch.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
I mean, we strayed a little bit in the last
couple of years, but we've got back to basics this
year and we're really got a great show, a friendly show,
a happy show, hard working resilience.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
It's going to be a ripper.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Oh you mentioned how you know you get to live
in three months for three months in a different place.
Have you ever sort of thought, oh, this really is
a bit of me. I reckon I could stay here.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Yeah, well, look I've got a pretty good thing on
on the East Coast over that, so I'm pretty happy
where I am, although I do love going to parts
of Australia like that. And yes, you know, I could
see more less more to the point I would say,
I can see why.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
People live here.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Yeah, okay, I get this.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
This is great. I love it, but I'm pretty happy
where I am.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Speaking happy, they're pretty Happy and Elseford that you guys
were there for so long.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Right, Yeah, Look, we did some figures this year and
because we're always pretty interested in what we spend, and
we worked out that within the town, our production spent
eight million bucks in the town, and that's food, accommodation padiums,
which you know, all your staff get an allowance to
live away from home so they can buy breakfast, lunch,
and dinner because we don't supply catering, and so that
(04:41):
money gets spent in town. And we rented sixty houses
to accommodate everybody. And so the little town of Joosh,
they've got seven hundred and fifty houses to rent. So
Dallstand's got eighteen hundred people during the week and it
swells to about eight thousand d on the weekends. It's
the high destination town in Victoria. And you know, a
(05:02):
little town like Darts were copping eight million bucks into
their economy. And that's not including the employment the people
that we employed to come and work on the show
for us, so our builders and carboners and so forth.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
So you know, it's always good for a little town
for us to turn.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
Oh there's boomtown. When he hasn't coming. Yeah, it's great,
love it well.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
It all kicks off seven o'clock Sunday night on nine.
Can't wait, Scott, thank.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
You guys, and you pop your seatbelt on the way out.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Oh yeah, well do
