Speaker 1 (00:06):
We have a confession to make. We have seen tonight's
Parental Guidance episode even though you haven't. It comes out
tonight on Channel nine and nine now at seven point
thirty and I think it's the best one so far.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
This is jam packed. I don't know how we're going
to get through our conversations this week. There is so
much to talk about.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Hello, Welcome to the Happy Families Podcast, Real Parenting Solutions
every day on Australia's most downloaded parenting podcast. We are
Justin and Kylie Coulson. Kylie, you say jam packed. Let's
just do a taste of what's coming up. We've got
to be careful about what we say because we don't
want to do any spoil No spoilers allowed next time.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Four new parenting styles are having the hard conversations Australia
needs to have about forty in each.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Killers and botok is the norm these days. We confront
to generations worrying obsession at school needs to be on
the walls about mummy's leg. This is, for me, an
area that requires immediate intervention and we are parents with
the tools to navigate their way through.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Go guys, I think you look pretty good for you.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
H If I want my children to believe that they
are perfect, then I need to reflect that in my behavior.
We've got four or five really big challenges and one
of the most heart wrenching, gripping conversations that you will
ever see an experience on TV. When you and I
were watching this ahead of time, we were both reaching
for the tissues and when it happened in the room,
(01:38):
oh my goodness, just there wasn't a dry eye. It's
just and I'm not saying this because I want people
to sort of have this this crying experience, or set
it up so that you've got to see it so
that you can, I don't know, grieve with us and
go through the pain of it all with us. But rather,
it's just such an important conversation. I'm talking in circles.
Nobody knows what I'm talking about. So let me be
(01:59):
a little bit more clear. The topic for tonight body image. Okay,
it's all about appearance and the way we talk about ourselves,
the way our kids talk about ourselves. It's such an
important one and the first challenge literally we ask the
kids how they see themselves. Really insightful, really inspiring, but
it's the second segment that I think is going to
(02:21):
blow people away.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Talking about eating disorders and specifically one girl's fight to live.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Fight against anarexia was intense. It's just a conversation that
you don't see on the television, and tonight in Parental
Guidance Episode three, we unpack it carefully, slowly and in
a way that will make every single parent and child
sit up and pay attention. I just think this is
so important. There's a whole lot more coming up as well.
(02:53):
Let's unpack that in just a second. Okay, so really
really important conversations about body image. In tonight's episode of
Parental Guidance, we find out how fit our families are.
Our focus families hit the field and we assess their fitness.
(03:16):
This is eye opening and the stats around this are compelling.
A couple of other big challenges.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
We look at each family's diet and what their daily
intake looks like.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
And the last thing that I want to highlight in
our preview episode of the podcast for tonight's episode number
three of Parental Guidance on Channel nine and nine now
is where all go sideways. So we did this little
challenge that we didn't really think much would happen like
it was just it was a conversation about body image
and how our kids see us, and it evolves in
some completely unexpected ways. And this is how we wrap
(03:53):
up the show. This must see TV, Like this is
so what's the word gripping? So compelling as we discover
something about one of our families that has to be addressed,
it's worth staying to the end. If that doesn't whet
your appetite, I don't know what will.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Yeah, but you're saying that like that's the end of
the episode, but there's still more, Like how can you
fit more?
Speaker 1 (04:17):
In tonight's episode of Parental Guidance. It's must watch TV.
It's on Channel nine at seven thirty, or you can
stream it via the app nine now. Episode three, Season
three Parental Guidance starring me Yours Truly, Dr Justin Coilson,
and the wonderful Ali langdon make sure you check it
out with your family. It was so much fun. What
(04:38):
was it last week? I think I was doing it
today extra episode with Sylvia Jeffries and she was talking
about how she's watching it and then having conversations with
her mother in law about everything that was on the
show the night before. This is the show that gets
Australia talking. I just love it. I love what we
get to talk about. Thank you so much for joining
us today on the pod. During the rest of the week,
we are going to unpack it in details, so make
(05:00):
sure you join us for every single episode of the
podcast as we talk about the stuff that we couldn't
quite fit into the show because clearly there's a lot
going on. We'll see you tomorrow on the pod. Hopefully
catch it tonight on the Telly. The Happy Families podcast
is produced by Justin Roland from Bridge Media. Craig Bruce
